Abstract
Background: Multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTMs) are crucial in the ICU. However, daily rounds may not address all sensitive issues due to time constraints and the complexity of cases. This study aimed to describe detailed information and characteristics of ad hoc MDTMs in the ICU. Methods: This single-center, retrospective study analyzed adult emergency ICU admissions at Okayama University Hospital from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2023. During this period, weekly regular multidisciplinary team ICU rounds were introduced in June 2020, and regular weekday morning MDTMs began in April 2022. A multiple logistic regression analysis was applied to determine the impact of these changes on the frequency of ad hoc MDTMs, adjusting for variables including annual changes. Results: The study analyzed 2487 adult EICU patients, with a median age of 66, and 63.3% of them male. MDTMs were held for 168 patients (6.8%), typically those with severe conditions, including higher COVID-19 prevalence and APACHE II scores, and longer ICU stays. Despite a constant total number of MDTMs, the likelihood of conducting ad hoc MDTMs increased annually (adjusted OR 1.19; 95% CI, 1.04-1.35). Of the 329 MDTMs conducted for these patients, 59.0% addressed end-of-life care, involving an average of 11 participants, mainly nurses and emergency and critical-care physicians. Conclusions: Changes in ICU round and meeting structures might be associated with a higher frequency of conducting ad hoc MDTMs, highlighting their evolving role and importance in patient care management.

Abstract
BACKGROUND As part of the German government's digitization initiative, the paper-based documentation that is still present in many intensive care units is to be replaced by digital patient data management systems (PDMS). In order to simplify the implementation of such systems, standards for basic functionalities that should be part of basic configurations of PDMS would be of great value. PURPOSE This paper describes functional requirements for PDMS in several categories. METHODS Criteria for standardized data documentation were defined by the authors and derived functional requirements were classified into two priority categories. RESULTS Overall, general technical requirements, functionalities for intensive care patient care, and additional functionalities for PDMS were defined and prioritized. DISCUSSION Using this paper as a starting point for a discussion about basic functionalities of PDMS, it is planned to develop and obtain consensus on definitive standards with representatives from medical societies, medical informatics and PDMS manufacture.

Abstract
The improvement of intensive care treatment options leads to an increasing number of patients being treated in this setting. For the majority of those affected and their relatives, this treatment is associated with tremendous stress, but also subsequent physical, psychological and cognitive impairments, the post-intensive care syndrome. The aim of psychosocial support in the intensive care unit is to stabilise and minimise the acute stress. This is done through care services oriented towards trauma therapy interventions and emergency psychology. Equally central are the needs of the patient's relatives and ways to stabilise and relieve them. The third pillar of psychosocial work in the intensive care unit is the support of the treatment team. Finally, an outlook is given for the specialised aftercare of these complex patients in PICS outpatient clinics.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Better information sharing in intensive care units has been associated with lower risk-adjusted mortality. This study explored how team characteristics and leadership are associated with information sharing in 4 intensive care units in a single large urban, academic medical center. METHODS A qualitative study was conducted to understand how team characteristics and leadership are associated with information sharing. Qualitative data were conducted through ethnographic observations. One postdoctoral research fellow and one PhD qualitative researcher conducted nonparticipant observations of a Medical, Surgical, Neurological, and Cardiothoracic intensive care unit morning and afternoon rounds, as well as nurse and resident handoffs from May to September 2021. Field notes of observations were thematically analyzed using deductive reasoning anchored to the Edmondson Team Learning Model. This study included nurses, physicians (ie, intensivists, surgeons, fellows, and residents), medical students, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, dieticians, physical therapists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. RESULTS We conducted 50 person-hours of observations involving 148 providers. Three themes emerged from the qualitative analysis: (1) team leaders used variable leadership techniques to involve team members in discussions for information sharing related to patient care, (2) predefined tasks for team members allowed them to prepare for effective information sharing during intensive care unit rounds, and (3) a psychologically safe environment allowed team members to participate in discussions for information sharing related to patient care. CONCLUSION Inclusive team leadership is foundational in creating a psychologically safe environment for effective information sharing.

Abstract
The measurement of quality indicators supports quality improvement initiatives. The German Interdisciplinary Society of Intensive Care Medicine (DIVI) has published quality indicators for intensive care medicine for the fourth time now. After a scheduled evaluation after three years, changes in several indicators were made. Other indicators were not changed or only minimally. The focus remained strongly on relevant treatment processes like management of analgesia and sedation, mechanical ventilation and weaning, and infections in the ICU. Another focus was communication inside the ICU. The number of 10 indicators remained the same. The development method was more structured and transparency was increased by adding new features like evidence levels or author contribution and potential conflicts of interest. These quality indicators should be used in the peer review in intensive care, a method endorsed by the DIVI. Other forms of measurement and evaluation are also reasonable, for example in quality management. This fourth edition of the quality indicators will be updated in the future to reflect the recently published recommendations on the structure of intensive care units by the DIVI.

Abstract
Point-of-care ultrasonography (POCUS) is performed by a treating clinician at the patient's bedside, provides a acquisition, interpretation, and immediate clinical integration based on ultrasonographic imaging. The use of POCUS is not limited to one specialty, protocol, or organ system. POCUS provides the treating clinician with real-time diagnostic and monitoring information. Visual rounds based on multiorgan POCUS act as an initiative to improve clinical practice in the Intensive Care Unit and are urgently needed as part of routine clinical practice.
