Abstract
Background:
The magnetic nanocomposites are very important as a reusable sorbents for
the extraction of Cd(II) and other toxic metals from water samples.
Methods:
The Ag/MgO@Fe3O4 nanocomposite was synthesized by the coprecipitation method and
characterized by the XRD, EDX, SEM, UV-vis spectroscopy and FTIR. This nanocomposite was
used to extract Cd(II) from water samples prior to its quantitative analysis with FAAS. Different variables,
i.e. pH, temperature, amount of nanosorbent, adsorption/desorption and dilution were optimized.
Results:
The method was successfully applied to determine Cd(II) in real water samples with
excellent recoveries (98%). The present method has lower detection (0.29) and quantification limit
(0.97 ng mL-1).
Conclusions:
The Ag/MgO@Fe3O4 nanocomposite based magnetic extraction is a simple, fast, reproducible,
less expansive and efficient technique for the Cd(II) extraction in water samples. The developed
sorbent can be recycled and reused (20 times).

Abstract
The zirconium metal-organic framework (Zr-MOF) was used as a novel and effective adsorbent material for the enrichment of five phenylurea herbicides (fenuron, monuron, diuron, linuron and pencycuron) in natural products. The target analytes were determined by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Some crucial experimental parameters, such as type of adsorbents, amount of adsorbent, type of eluent solvents and adsorption capacity were investigated and optimized. Under the optimum extraction conditions, the enrichment factors of fenuron, monuron, diuron, linuron and pencycuron were 90, 128, 148, 204 and 295 times, respectively. A good linearity was obtained in different concentration levels of target analytes with the determination coefficients (r2) larger than 0.993. In addition, the limits of detection varied from 0.05 to 0.36 ng/mL and the recoveries of the analytes were in the range of 85.19-99.13 %. The results demonstrated that the proposed miniaturized solid-phase extraction procedure coupled with Zr-MOF could become an effective tool to analyze phenylurea herbicides and would have the vast application prospect for the extraction of pesticide residue and more organic pollutants from Hawthorn, Dendrobii Officinalis Caulis and Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma samples.

Abstract
In this review, recent advances in the analysis of water-soluble vitamins (WSVs) have been reported considering the advantages and disadvantages of various extraction, separation and detection techniques, commonly used for their quantification. Acid hydrolysis, enzyme treatment, SPE based methods and some other extraction methods have been discussed. Particular attention has been devoted to the analytical techniques based on liquid chromatography and electrophoresis. Furthermore, suitability and selectivity of hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) for WSVs has been discussed in detail. Problems related to these techniques and their possible solutions have also been considered. Special focus has been given to the applications of liquid chromatography (since 2014-2019) for the simultaneous analysis of WSVs and their homologous in complex food samples.

Abstract
4-Chloro-α-cyanocinnamic acid (ClCCA) is a very useful matrix able to give the protonated adduct [M+H](+) of intact cyanocobalamin (CNCbl) as the base peak (m/z 1355.58) in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry (MS). The only fragment observed is [M-CN + H](+•) formed through the facile (•) CN neutral loss reflecting the fairly low Co-C bond energy. All other investigated proton transfer matrices, including α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid, para-nitroaniline and 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid, give rise to a complete decyanation of CNCbl with concomitant formation of [M-CN + H](+•) , [M-CN + Na](+•) and [M-CN + K](+•) adducts at m/z 1329.57, 1351.55 and 1367.51, respectively. Depending on the matrix used, a variable degree of fragmentation involving the α-side axial ligand was observed. A plausible explanation of the specific behaviour of 4-chloro-α-cyanocinnamic acid as a soft matrix is discussed. Tandem mass spectra of both [M + H](+) and [M-CN + H](+•) ions were obtained and product ions successfully assigned. The possibility of detecting the protonated adduct of intact CNCbl was exploited in foodstuff samples such as cow milk and hen egg yolk by MALDI tandem MS upon sample extraction. We believe that our data provide strong basis for the application of MALDI tandem MS in the qualitative analysis of natural CNCbl, including fish, liver and meat samples. Abstract
RATIONALE Vitamin B(12) is an essential nutrient for more than half of surveyed marine algae species, but methods for directly measuring this important cofactor in seawater are limited. Current mass spectrometry methods do not quantify all forms of B(12), potentially missing a significant portion of the B(12) pool. METHODS We present a method to measure vitamins B(1), B(2), B(6), B(7) and four forms of B(12) dissolved in seawater. The method entails solid-phase extraction, separation by ultra-performance liquid chromatography, and detection by triple-quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry using stable-isotope-labeled internal standards. We demonstrated the use of this method in the environment by analyzing B(12) concentrations at different depths in the Hood Canal, part of the Puget Sound estuarine system in Washington State. RESULTS Recovery of vitamin B(12) forms during the preconcentration steps was >71% and the limits of detection were <0.275 pM in seawater. Standard addition calibration curves in three different seawater matrices were used to determine analytical response and to quantify samples from the environment. Hydroxocobalamin was the main form of B(12) in seawater at our field site. CONCLUSIONS We developed a method for quantifying four forms of B(12) in seawater by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry with the option of simultaneous analysis of vitamins B(1), B(2), B(6), and B(7). We validated the method and demonstrated its application in the field.
