Abstract
Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) have received increasing attention because of their superior dispersion and thermal stability. In this study, TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanocrystal (TOCNC) multifunctional antioxidationantioxidation films (TOCNC-GA film) were prepared by the esterification of TOCNC and gallic acid (GA). TOCNC-GAX films, where X represents the ratio of the amount of GA to the amount of TOCNC, were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The films with the GA:TOCNC ratio of 1:1 achieved higher interfacial compatibility than the other films. The mechanical properties and water resistance of the TOCNC-GA films were superior than those of pure TOCNC films. Moreover, the original TOCNC structure changed owing to the presence of GA, which endowed a certain thermoplasticity owing to the formation of ester groups. The antioxidation properties of the TOCNC-GA1 films reached 43.8 % and 71.85 % after 6 and 24 h, respectively, as evaluated by the 2,2-biphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl method and the free radical scavenging activities of the TOCNC-GA1 films. The innovative development of the functional antioxidation film presented in this paper has great potential for use in antioxidation packaging materials and food preservation.

Abstract
In this study, novel Cu-complexes of heterocyclic cellulose which were synthesized via the reaction of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) from bagasse pulp with NH2NH2 to give hydrazide cellulose which easily reacted with CS2 to form salt and then cyclized in the presence of HCl to afford cellulose oxadiazole, or with hydrazine hydrate to give cellulose triazole. Furthermore, the cellulose oxadiazole and triazole moieties acting as chelating agents with metal ion Cu (II), and all synthesized compounds were examined for their spectral analysis to show the adsorption of Cu (II) on the surface of cellulose through intramolecular hydrogen bonding. Results illustrated that cellulose oxadiazole and Cu- cellulose oxadiazole exhibited antimicrobial activities more than triazole and Cu- cellulose triazole. Furthermore, anticancer results showed that both cellulose oxadiazole and triazole exhibited activity higher than Cu-cellulose oxadiazole and Cu-cellulose triazole, where the cellulose triazole showed the highest activity (IC50 = 58.7 μg/μL). Additionally, the docking simulation of the synthesized cellulose complexes with different proteins such as PDBID:3t88, PDBID:4ynt, PDBID:1tgh, PDBID:2wje, and PDBID:4hdq and shortage bond length to confirm the experimental results. Optimization of metal complexes utilized the DFT/B3LYP/LANL2DZ basis set to confirm the stability of these metals theoretically and their physical descriptors and FMO analysis.

Abstract
Emulsion-based foods are widely consumed, and their characteristics involving colloidal and oxidative stabilities should be considered. The fabrication of the interfaces by selecting the emulsifier may improve stability and trigger lipolysis, thereby reducing energy uptake from the emulsified food. The present work aimed to develop Okara cellulose crystals (OCs) as a multifunction emulsifier to preserve the physical and chemical stability of a Pickering emulsion via surface modification with phenolic acids. The modification of OC was performed by grafting with the selected phenolics to produce OC-gallic acid (OC-G) and OC-tannic acid (OC-T) complexes. There was a higher phenolic loading efficiency when the OC reacted with gallic acid (ca. 70%) than with tannic acid (ca. 50%). This trend was concomitant with better antioxidant activity of the OC-G than OC-T. Surface modification based on grafting with phenolic acids improved capability of the OC to enhance both the colloidal and oxidative stability of the emulsion. In addition, the cellulosic materials had a retardation effect on the in vitro lipolysis compared to a protein-stabilized emulsion. Surface modification by grafting with phenolic acids successfully provided OC as an innovative emulsifier to promote physico-chemical stability and lower lipolysis of the emulsion.

Abstract
In this study, the oxidation of microcrystalline cellulose using NaIO4 to yield the corresponding cellulose aldehyde utilized microwave irradiation as a green tool, the obtained cellulosic aldehyde was confirmed through spectral analysis and it has an active site to react with the synthesized uracil acetamide to afford the corresponding arylidene cellulosic MDAU(4), the latter compound which can easily due to presence of active CH=group behind a cyano group react with nitrogen nucleophile's and cyclized with hydrazine hydrate to give pyrazole cellulosic MDPA(5). The spectral analysis of the obtained cellulosic derivatives was confirmed with FT-IR, NMR, and SEM. Additionally, a neutral red uptake analysis has been used to investigate the cytotoxic activity of the cellulosic compounds MDAC(2), MDAU(4), and MDAP(5) against the cancer cells A549 and Caco2. After 48 h, Compound MDAU(4) had a stronger inhibitory effect on the growth of A549 and Caco2, compared to standard values. Then, using QRT-PCR, the appearance sites of the genes -Catenin, c-Myc, Cyclin D1, and MMP7 in A549 cells were examined. By reducing the expression levels of the Wnt signaling cascade genes -Catenin, c-Myc, Cyclin D1, and MMP7 when administered to A549 cells, compound MDAU(4) was shown in this investigation to be a viable candidate compared to lung cancer. Additionally, docking simulation was used to explore the uracil cellulosic heterocycles attached to different proteins, and computational investigations of these compounds looked at how well their physical characteristics matched the outcomes of their experiments.

Abstract
Microbial resistance is the first morbidity and mortality cause for patients as usually a secondary infection. Additionally, the MOF is a promising material that shows a nice activity in this field. However, these materials need a good formulation to enhance biocompatibility and sustainability. Cellulose and its derivatives are well as filers for this gap. In this presented work, a novel green active system based on carboxymethyl cellulose and Ti-MOF (MIL-125-NH2@CMC) modified with thiophene (Thio@MIL-125-NH2@CMC) was prepared by a post-synthetic modification (PSM) route based. FTIR, SEM and PXRD were utilized to characterize nanocomposites. In addition, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to corroborate the nanocomposites' particle size and diffraction pattern as well as the DLS affirmed the size as 50 and 35 nm for MIL-125-NH2@CMC and Thio@MIL-125-NH2@CMC, respectively. The formulation of the nanocomposites was validated by physicochemical characterization techniques, while morphological analysis confirmed the nanoform of the prepared composites. The antimicrobial, antiviral and antitumor properties of MIL-125-NH2@CMC and Thio@MIL-125-NH2@CMC were assessed. Antimicrobial testing revealed that Thio@MIL-125-NH2@CMC possesses greater antimicrobial activity than MIL-125-NH2@CMC. Additionally, Thio@MIL-125-NH2@CMC demonstrated promising antifungal activity against C. albicans and A. niger where MICs were 31.25 and 0.97 µg/mL, respectively. Also, Thio@MIL-125-NH2@CMC exhibited antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus where MICs were 1000 and 250 µg/mL, respectively. In addition, the results demonstrated that Thio@MIL-125-NH2@CMC displayed promising antiviral activity against both HSV1 and COX B4, with antiviral activities of 68.89% and 39.60%, respectively. Furthermore, Thio@MIL-125-NH2@CMC exhibited potential anticancer activity against MCF7 and PC3 cancerous cell lines, where IC50 was 93.16 and 88.45%, respectively. In conclusion, carboxymethyl cellulose/sulfur-functionalized Ti-based MOF composite was successfully synthesized which had antimicrobial, antiviral and anticancer activities.

Abstract
Biopolymers have significant pharmaceutical applications, and their blending has favorable characteristics for their pharmaceutical properties compared to the sole components. In this work, sodium alginate (SA) as a marine biopolymer was blended with poly(vinyl) alcohol (PVA) to form SA/PVA scaffolds through the freeze-thawing technique. Additionally, polyphenolic compounds in Moringa oleifera leaves were extracted by different solvents, and it was found that extracts with 80% methanol had the highest antioxidant activity. Different concentrations (0.0-2.5%) of this extract were successfully immobilized in SA/PVA scaffolds during preparation. The characterization of the scaffolds was carried out via FT-IR, XRD, TG, and SEM. The pure and Moringa oleifera extract immobilized SA/PVA scaffolds (MOE/SA/PVA) showed high biocompatibility with human fibroblasts. Further, they showed excellent in vitro and in vivo wound healing capacity, with the best effect noted for the scaffold with high extract content (2.5%).

Abstract
A series of polymers, including chitosan (CS), carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and a chitosan-gelatin (CS-GEL) hybrid polymer, were functionalized with ferulic acid (FA) derived from the enzymatic treatment of arabinoxylan through the synergistic action of two enzymes, namely, xylanase and feruloyl esterase. Subsequently, the ferulic acid served as the substrate for laccase from Agaricus bisporus (AbL) in order to enzymatically functionalize the above-mentioned polymers. The successful grafting of the oxidized ferulic acid products onto the different polymers was confirmed through ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, attenuated total reflectance (ATR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Additionally, an enhancement of the antioxidant properties of the functionalized polymers was observed according to the DDPH and ABTS protocols. Finally, the modified polymers exhibited strong antimicrobial activity against bacterial populations of Escherichia coli BL21DE3 strain, suggesting their potential application in pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical and food industries.

Abstract
In this study, a kind of polymeric ionic liquid (PIL) called PIL-Cl was synthesized and modified to obtain conductive graphene coated carboxymethyl cellulose hybrid fibers. Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) was formed into fibers by wet spinning assisted with PILCl. Co-precipitation test of CMC and PIL-Cl demonstrated that PIL-Cl could precipitate with CMC through strong electrostatic interaction and molar ratio of CMC and PIL-Cl (calculated in repeating units) would affect the formation of precipitation. Secondly, modified PIL-Cl named PIL-Ac was used as an intermediate connecting CMC fiber and graphene to fabricate conductive CMC/PIL/graphene fibers. A series of tests were performed on CMC/PIL/graphene fibers, including Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and conductivity test. The results showed that PIL-Cl could help form CMC fiber, and PIL-Ac could functionalize it and make it conductive.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Biopolymers are promising candidates that can be fabricated into hydrophilic matrices and used for many applications due to their distinctive properties such as non-toxic, biodegradable, biocompatibility, and low cost. A promising composite of chitosan and carrageenan with self-crosslinking has been prepared. METHODS AND RESULTS In this study, a rigorous approach for an inexpensive and non-toxic combination of different amounts of clove oil with two polyelectrolytes including chitosan and carrageenan in the form of beads have been prepared. The structure and the surface morphology of the beads were investigated using FTIR, XRD, and SEM. Moreover, antimicrobial, antiviral activity, and molecular docking were evaluated. Antibacterial results revealed that chitosan/carrageenan@clove oil beads have antimicrobial activity as well as chitosan/carrageenan without clove oil against Escherichia colia ATCC25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa aATCC27853, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923, Bacillus subtilisaATCC6051 and Candida albicanssATCC90028. Furthermore, maximum non-toxic concentration (MNTC) of chitosan/carrageenan@clove oil beads was (31.25 μg/mL) which exhibited promising antiviral activity against Herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1), and was significantly higher than chitosan/carrageenan without clove oil, where antiviral activity was 82.94 and 57.64% respectively. Eventually, docking study and computational calculation have been used to show the reactivity of the molecules. CONCLUSIONS The developed chitosan/carrageenan@clove oil beads have shown promising properties to be used as carriers of drug delivery, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. Abstract
Phenols are widespread in nature, being the major components of several plants and essential oils. Natural phenols' anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant, pharmacological and nutritional properties are, nowadays, well established. Hence, given their peculiar biological role, numerous studies are currently ongoing to overcome their limitations, as well as to enhance their activity. In this review, the functionalization of selected natural phenols is critically examined, mainly highlighting their improved bioactivity after the proper chemical transformations. In particular, functionalization of the most abundant naturally occurring monophenols, diphenols, lipidic phenols, phenolic acids, polyphenols and curcumin derivatives is explored.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In this investigation, 2-cyano-N-(2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidin-5-yl) acetamide (3) reacts with dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal (DMF-DMA) to afford the corresponding (E)- 2-cyano-3-(dimethylamino)-N-(2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidin-5-yl)acrylam-ide (4) utilizing microwave irradiation. The condensation reactions of acrylamide derivative 4 with hydrazine derivatives obtain pyrazole derivatives 6a and 6b; respectively. The synthesized compounds demonstrate in vitro antitumor activity against liver tumor cell line HepG2. Furthermore, additional studies were carried out on the most effective compound 6b to evaluate the potential interaction against 4hdq synthase complex with ΔE= -4.5Kcal/mol and with short distance = 1.727Å and 2.027Å, respectively. The comprehensive theoretical studies of compounds 6a and 6b is based on bond length, bond angles and energy gap HOMO-LUMO. In addition, the vibrational frequencies of optimized compounds 6a and 6b were examined through DFT/B3LYP/6+31G(d) basis set. METHODS In this research, synthesis of novel pyrimidiopyrazole derivatives calculated the computational studies to find suitable drug-receptor interactions and biological activity. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION The synthesized pyrimidiopyrazole derivative 6b exhibited high antitumor activity IC50 =12.6 μg/ml and interacted it with 4hdq synthase complex with ΔE=-4.5Kcal/mol and with short distance = 1.727Å and 2.027Å. Furthermore, the optimized compounds utilize Gaussian 09W. CONCLUSION In the optimized pyrimidiopyrazole derivatives, 6b showed better antitumor activity HeG-2 against 5-flurouracil due to its energy and confirmed more potent of hydrogen bond interaction with protein pocket.

Abstract
Development of the oxidation process of cellulose has occurred to decrease the reaction time. Dialdehyd cellulose (DAC) has synthesized via periodate oxidation under microwave irradiation and Graphen oxide (GO) was synthesized by modified Hummer method. A new composite of DAC/GO has prepared from GO and DAC. The structure and morphology of DAC, GO and DAC/GO composite were evaluated via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Mechanical properties of DAC and DAC/GO were investigated. Additionally, the computational calculations of cellulose, DAC and GO by DFT/B3LYP/6-31G (d) basis sets were investigated. DAC/GO composite demonstrated specific antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The molecular docking of DAC shows binding energy interaction (- 4.1, - 4.0, and - 4.0) Kcal/mol against microbial protein of Pseudomonas aeruginosa as Gram-negative bacteria PDB (2W7Q), and Staphylococcus aureus as Gram-positive bacteria PDB (1BQB) as well as Covid-19 PDB (7BZ5) respectively. DAC shows drug-like behavior when it is compared with binding energy interaction of Hydroxychloroquine against Covid-19, as a standard drug.

Abstract
First example of the use of 4-(4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-4-methyl-morpholinium chloride (DMTMM) as cross-linking agent for the development of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) films for food packaging is reported. Influence of different wt % of DMTMM and glycerol on the physical-mechanical properties of CMC films was investigated. The presence of DMTMM effectively improved moisture uptake, moisture content, water vapour permeability, water solubility of the films, oil resistance together with good biodegradability. Best compromise between high water resistance, vapour permeability and mechanical properties was accomplished with 5 wt % DMTMM and 50 wt % glycerol giving tensile strength and elongation at break of 52.25 ± 4.33 and 37.32 ± 2.04 respectively. DSC, TGA and SEM analysis further confirmed CMC cross-linking by DMTMM. All films prepared showed low opacity and high transparencies. Therefore, data reported show that DMTMM can efficiently cross-link CMC to produce films for food packaging.
