Abstract
AIMS This study investigated burnout trends and related sick leave duration in working-age adults followed in general practices in Germany. METHODS Participants were aged 20-65 years and were diagnosed with burnout in one of 442 general practices in this country in 2012-2014, 2016-2018, and 2020-2022. The prevalence of burnout and the duration of sick leave in all practices were compared between 2012-2014 and 2016-2018 and between 2016-2018 and 2020-2022. The association between diagnosis years (i.e., 2012-2014, 2016-2018, and 2020-2022) and long-term sick leave (i.e., more than 42 days of sick leave) was investigated using adjusted logistic regression. RESULTS The study included 39,793, 46,708, and 50,721 patients diagnosed with burnout in the periods from 2012 to 2014, 2016-2018, and 2020-2022, respectively, and the prevalence of burnout in all patients was 3.6%, 3.8%, and 3.6% during these three periods. This prevalence increased significantly in people aged 61-65 years and those with a Charlson Comorbidity Index of ≥1. The mean (SD) sick leave duration in the population of people with burnout rose from 24.1 (41.9) days in the period of 2012-2014 to 36.2 (65.6) days in the period from 2020 to 2022. Finally, compared with 2012-2014, burnout diagnosed in 2016-2018 and 2020-2022 was associated with higher odds of long-term sick leave. CONCLUSIONS In view of these findings, it is clear that public health measures are urgently needed to improve burnout prevention in Germany.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Preliminary research suggests post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a risk factor for chronic low back pain (CLBP). However, this literature displays some limitations. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the association between PTSD and the 10-year cumulative incidence of CLBP in adults from Germany. METHODS The present retrospective cohort study included adults diagnosed with PTSD in 1 of 1284 general practices in Germany in 2005-2020 (index date). Individuals without PTSD were matched to those with PTSD (1:1) using a propensity score based on age, sex, index year, duration of follow-up, and the mean number of consultations during follow-up. In patients without PTSD, the index date was a randomly selected visit date. RESULTS There were 60,664 patients included in the study. After adjusting for frequent comorbidities, there was a positive but non-significant association between PTSD and incident CLBP in the overall population (HR = 1.07, 95% CI = 0.99-1.15). Nonetheless, the relationship between PTSD and CLBP was statistically significant in the age group >60 years (HR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.05-1.46). CONCLUSIONS Conversely to previous research, PTSD was not associated with incident CLBP in this large German sample. Further longitudinal studies are warranted to corroborate these findings before drawing any firm conclusions.

Abstract
The aim was to investigate the association between chronic low back pain (CLBP) and incident transient ischemic attack (TIA) and stroke in Germany. The present retrospective cohort study included adults aged ≥18 years who were diagnosed for the first time with CLBP in one of 1198 general practices in Germany in 2005-2019 (index date). Patients without CLBP were matched to those with CLBP (1:1) using a propensity score based on age, sex, the index year, the number of medical consultations per year during the follow-up, and the number of years of follow-up. In patients without CLBP, the index date was a randomly selected visit date. Both groups were followed for up to 10 years. There were 159,440 patients included in the study (mean (SD) age: 52.1 (16.5) years; 51.5% women). Within 10 years of the index date, 6.5% and 5.9% of patients with and without CLBP were diagnosed with TIA or stroke, respectively (log-rank p-value < 0.001). The Cox regression analysis corroborated these results, as there was a significant association between CLBP and incident TIA or stroke (HR = 1.28, 95% CI = 1.22-1.35). CLBP was positively and significantly associated with incident TIA and stroke in Germany. More research is warranted to better understand this relationship.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chronic pain affects about 100 million U.S. adults, with chronic low back pain (CLBP) cited as the most prevalent type. Although there is evidence that non-pharmacological therapies seem to be effective for treating low back pain, there is limited evidence of the effectiveness of EMG biofeedback with non-specific chronic low back pain (NCLBP). The purpose of this study is, therefore, to determine the efficacy of a portable EMG biofeedback device on pain in individuals with CLBP. METHODS/DESIGN This study is a prospective, single-center, assessor-blind, two-arm, parallel randomized controlled trial to be conducted at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA. Eighty patients with CLBP will be randomized in a 2:1 ratio to receive sEMG-BF (surface EMG biofeedback) or continued care (no intervention). All participants will receive treatment virtually weekly for 8 weeks. The primary outcome will be pain intensity (Brief Pain Inventory). The secondary outcomes will include pain interference (Brief Pain Inventory), disability (The Oswestry Disability Index (ODI)), anxiety and depression (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale). All outcomes will be assessed at baseline, immediately post-intervention, and 3 months follow-up. CONCLUSION To our knowledge, this study will be the first powered randomized controlled trial to compare the effectiveness of a virtual sEMG-BF protocol specifically designed for CLBP. The outcome of the study may provide evidence for the effectiveness of biofeedback using digital therapeutics to relieve pain in individuals with CLBP. Abstract
The aim was to investigate the changes in sustainable working life over 10-13 years of follow-up and the effect of baseline night work. Data from the Swedish national registers were used to define sustainable working life. Survey data in the 1998-2003 "SALT" with 34,680 twins or in the 2004-2006 "STAGE" with 19,637 twins were utilized to assess night work at baseline. Group-based trajectory and multinomial regression models were applied. The results of the SALT cohort yielded five trajectory solutions: stable sustainable working life (40%), stable lack of sustainable working life (25%), later decreasingly sustainable working life (15%), increasingly sustainable working life (14%), and early decreasingly sustainable working life (7%). In the STAGE cohort, four trajectories were detected: stable sustainable working life (83%), decreasingly sustainable working life (7%), stable lack of sustainable working life (5%), and increasing sustainable working life (5%). Night work was associated with the decreasing or increasing sustainable working life in the trajectory groups. To conclude, the largest parts of both cohorts followed trajectories of stable sustainable working lives. Night work was associated with both the trajectories of decreasing and increasing sustainable working lives.
