Abstract
Uncontrolled antibacterial, insufficient barrier and low strength are the bottlenecks of food packaging applications. Herein, Ta4C3Tx nanosheet as a template was used to prepare Ta4C3Tx immobilized silver nanoparticles (Ta4C3Tx-AgNPs), which was compounded with nanocellulose to obtain high-strength and high barrier controllable bactericidal nanocellulose-based bioplastic packaging (CTa-Ag). The results indicated that due to the hydrogen bonding between nanocellulose and Ta4C3Tx, the bridging effect of QCS (quaternized chitosan) and the filling of Ta4C3Tx-AgNPs, the CTa-Ag had tightly stacked microstructure, which endowed them with excellent mechanical properties (4.0 GPa), ultra-low oxygen permeability (0.009 cm3/m2·d·atm) and stable photothermal conversion efficiency. Importantly, the packaging exhibits the ability to control the release of antibacterial active ingredients. Moreover, the synergistic effects of controllable release of nano active factors, photothermal and photocatalysis in CTa-Ag gave it long-lasting antibacterial properties. This study brings new insights into the design and manufacture of multifunctional, controllable and long-lasting antibacterial bioplastic food packaging.

Abstract
In this work, new strategies were developed to prepare 1D-V2MoO8 (VMO) rods from 2D V-doped MoSe2 nanosheets (VMoSe2) with good control over morphology and crystallinity by a facile hydrothermal and calcination process. The morphological changes from 2D to 1D rods were controlled by changing the calcination temperature from 300 to 600 °C. The elimination of Se and the incorporation of O into the V-Mo structure were evaluated by TGA, p-XRD, Raman, FE-SEM, EDAX, FE-TEM, and XPS analyses. These results prove that the optimization of the physical parameters leads to changes in the crystal phase and textural properties of the prepared material. The VMoSe2 and its calcined products were investigated as electrochemical sensors for the detection of the antibacterial drug nitrofurantoin (NFT). At a calcination temperature of 500 °C, the modified screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCE) proved to be an excellent electrochemical sensor for the detection of NFT in neutral media. Under the optimized conditions, VMO-500 °C/SPCE exhibits low detection limit (LOD) (0.015 μM), wide linear ranges (0.1-31, 47-1802 μM), good sensitivity, and selectivity. The proposed sensor was successfully used for the analysis of NFT in real samples with good recovery results. Moreover, the reduction potential of NFT agreed well with the theoretical analysis using quantum chemical calculations, with the B3LYP with 6-31G(d,p) basis set predicting an E0 value of -0.45 V. The interaction between the electrode surface and NFT via the LUMO diagram and the electrostatic potential surface is also discussed.

Abstract
Abundant use of nitrofurantoin (NFT) and metronidazole (MTZ) antibiotics has led to excessive residues in the environments and humans, resulting in serious damage to the human body and ecosystem. Therefore, effective detection of NFT and MTZ is exceedingly necessary. In this regard, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising materials as electrochemical sensors. Herein, we synthesized a new two-dimensional thiacalix [4]arene-copper (I) MOF (Cu-TC4A-M). This MOF was mixed with mesoporous carbon (MC) to a give Cu-TC4A-M@MC composite. In addition, the sensors of Cu-TC4A-M@MC(2:1)/GCE and Cu-TC4A-M@MC(1:2)/GCE were achieved (GCE = glassy carbon electrode), and then were applied for effectively detecting NFT and MTZ, respectively. Markedly, the two sensors exhibited satisfactory linear detection range, anti-interference, reproducibility and stability. When they were utilized in the real samples, such as human serum, urine, tap water and lake water, satisfactory recoveries were attained. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) were in the range of 1.16 % ∼ 1.92 % for NFT and 0.95 % ∼ 2.33 % for MTZ. This work provided a new application prospect for the thiacalix [4]arene-based MOFs as promising candidate materials for NFT and MTZ detection.

Abstract
In this paper, a thiacalix[4]arene complex [Zn2(TIT4A)L2]·4DMF·2CH3OH (H2L = 4,4'-oxybisbenzoic acid) (Zn-TIT4A-L) was synthesized by a solvothermal method. The composites were prepared by combining Zn-TIT4A-L with reduced graphene oxide (RGO), mesoporous carbon (MC), and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), respectively. Three representative composites are Zn-TIT4A-L@RGO(1:1), Zn-TIT4A-L@MC(1:2), and Zn-TIT4A-L@MWCNT(1:2). X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy characterized their structures and morphologies. The results showed that three composites were successfully prepared, and the crystals of the complex remained in the composites. The electrochemical properties of the composites were characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The results indicated that they had good electrocatalytic activity and conductivity. Among them, Zn-TIT4A-L@RGO(1:1) had the best performance and was used for the quantitative detection of flutamide (FTA). The linear range of detection is 0.1-200 μM, and the limit of detection is 0.015 μM. At the same time, the sensor also had good reproducibility, anti-interference, and stability. The sensor was also used for the detection of FTA in lake water, human urine, and serum with a satisfactory recovery rate. The possible mechanism of electrochemical detection of FTA was also discussed.

Abstract
For developing electrochemical plant sensors, in-situ detection of hormone levels in living plants is worth attempting. A microneedle array sensor based on Au@SnO2-vertical graphene (VG)/Ta microelectrodes was constructed for analyzing abscisic acid (ABA) in plants. Graphene was vertically grown on Ta wires with a diameter of 0.6 mm by direct current arc plasma jet chemical vapor deposition with SnO2 as the Au catalyst carrier. These VG nanosheets were embedded with core-shell Au@SnO2 nanoparticles, and the formation mechanism of the sensing layer was investigated. Three Au@SnO2-VG microelectrodes, one Ti wire, and one Pt wire were packed into a microneedle array sensor with a three-electrode system. ABA was then quantitatively detected by direct electrocatalytic oxidation, which involves the synergistic catalytic effects of the abundant catalytic active sites of the Au@SnO2 nanoparticles and the excellent conductivity of the VG nanosheets. The microneedle array sensor responds to ABA in the pH range 4-7, the response concentration range was 0.012 (or 0.024)-495.2 μM, and the detection limit varied between 0.002 and 0.005 μM. The small size, wide pH range, low detection limit, and wide linear concentration range allow the microneedle array sensor to be inserted into plants for in-situ detection of ABA.

Abstract
Nitrofurantoin (NFT) is mainly used in humans for the treatment of urinary tract infections. NFT is used as feed additives in animals, due to its broad antimicrobial activity. However, it shows more side effects on human health and the environment. Therefore low-cost, portable, and rapid sensors are necessary for the detection of NFT in real samples. Herein, we successfully developed an electrochemical sensor using a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with gadolinium orthoferrite (GdFeO3) decorated on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) nanocomposite for the detection of NFT. The facile hydrothermal method was used to synthesis a novel GdFeO3/RGO nanocomposite, the morphological and structural characterization was confirmed by the FESEM, HRTEM, EDX, XRD, Raman, and XPS techniques. The formation mechanism of GdFeO3/RGO nanocomposite had been discussed. The effective intercalation of the nanostructured GdFeO3 to the RGO sheets leads to the significant enhancement in physicochemical properties such as electrical conductivity, electro-active surface area, structural stability, and electrochemical activity, which was observed from the EIS and CV experimental results. The electrochemical studies established that the developed GdFeO3/RGO sensor was highly sensitive and selective to NFT. Moreover, the GdFeO3/RGO sensor exhibits good sensitivity of 4.1985 μA μM-1 cm-2, a low detection limit (LOD) of 0.0153 µM and a linear range from 0.001 to 249 µM for NFT detection under optimized experimental conditions. In addition, the investigation of storage time on the CV response of the GdFeO3/RGO sensor indicates superior stability. Owing to these extraordinary analytical advantages, the as-fabricated sensor was applied to detect the NFT levels in human urine and river water samples with satisfactory results.

Abstract
MXene, a novel class of 2-dimensional transition metal carbides has evolved as a promising material for various applications owing to its outstanding characteristics such as hydrophilicity, high electrical conductivity, surface area, and attractive topological structure. MXenes can form dispersion in common solvents and constitute composite with other nanomaterials, which can be utilized as effective transducers for molecular sensing. MXene-modified support materials, thus provide an intriguing platform for immobilization of target molecules onto their surface. The literature reveals that it has been increasingly utilized in the sensing of diverse types of analytes including glucose, pharmaceuticals, metals and dyes, cancer markers, pesticides, neurotransmitters, small valuable molecules, and so on. In this review, we summarize the recent updates in the MXene modified materials for sensing. For the convenience of our audience, we have distributed the analytes into categories and discussed them comprehensively. Not only we present the synthesis approach, electrochemical properties and surface chemistry of MXenes but also discussed briefly the current challenges and an outlook for future research in the related area.
