Abstract
This study investigates four phenothiazinium dyes including methylene blue (MB) and three analogues containing auxochrome variation 2-4 as oxygen colorimetric indicators prepared by their incorporation into two types of oxygen permeable materials containing: a) polyvinyl alcohol substrate with additional TiO2 photocatalysts (PhOxIn), and b) carboxymethylcellulose polymer matrix containing glucose and KOH (ChOxIn). In vacuum packages where volumetric concentrations of oxygen were below 0.01 %, the leuco forms of the tested phenothiazinum dyes were readily oxidised, initiating the colour turn from white to blue. The redox processes involved were explored by experimental electron paramagnetic resonance EPR and UV-vis spectroscopic methods and further supported by theoretical quantum chemistry. The EPR experiments showed that the chemical oxidation of the leuco-form of the phenothiazinium dyes 1-4 produced transient aminyl radical species with the single electron mainly located at the nitrogen atom of the heterocyclic core. The formation of these transient aminyl species was also perceived by UV-vis spectroscopy, their absorption maxima situated in the 552-592 nm range being also supported by TD-DFT theoretical calculations.

Effect of hBN on Corrosion and Wear Performances of DC Electrodeposited NiW and NiW–SiC on Brass Substrates. COATINGS 2022. Abstract
Crack-free and uniform nickel–tungsten (NiW) coatings and their composite coatings filled with ceramic particles such as silicon carbide (SiC) and hexagonal-boron nitride (hBN) were deposited on brass substrates by applying direct current (DC) waveforms. Among all coatings, NiW–SiC–hBN coatings displayed the noblest corrosion potential (−0.49 V) and lowest current density (4.36 × 10−6 A·cm−2). It also seems that addition of hBN and SiC ceramic particles to NiW matrix remarkably improved the wear performance of the NiW coatings. However, NiW–hBN exhibited the lowest wear volume (48.84 × 103 µm3) and the friction coefficient of 0.1 due to ultra–low friction coefficient of hBN particles.

Abstract
The monitoring of toxic inorganic gases and volatile organic compounds has brought the development of field-deployable, sensitive, and scalable sensors into focus. Here, we attempted to meet these requirements by using concurrently microhole-structured meshes as (i) a membrane for the gas diffusion extraction of an analyte from a donor sample and (ii) an electrode for the sensitive electrochemical determination of this target with the receptor electrolyte at rest. We used two types of meshes with complementary benefits, i.e., Ni mesh fabricated by robust, scalable, and well-established methods for manufacturing specific designs and stainless steel wire mesh (SSWM), which is commercially available at a low cost. The diffusion of gas (from a donor) was conducted in headspace mode, thus minimizing issues related to mesh fouling. When compared with the conventional polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane, both the meshes (40 μm hole diameter) led to a higher amount of vapor collected into the electrolyte for subsequent detection. This inedited fashion produced a kind of reverse diffusion of the analyte dissolved into the electrolyte (receptor), i.e., from the electrode to bulk, which further enabled highly sensitive analyses. Using Ni mesh coated with Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles, the limit of detection reached for ethanol was 24-fold lower than the data attained by a platform with a PTFE membrane and placement of the electrode into electrolyte bulk. This system was applied in the determination of ethanol in complex samples related to the production of ethanol biofuel. It is noteworthy that a simple equation fitted by machine learning was able to provide accurate assays (accuracies from 97 to 102%) by overcoming matrix effect-related interferences on detection performance. Furthermore, preliminary measurements demonstrated the successful coating of the meshes with gold films as an alternative raw electrode material and the monitoring of HCl utilizing Au-coated SSWMs. These strategies extend the applicability of the platform that may help to develop valuable volatile sensing solutions.

Abstract
This study reports a simple synthesis of amorphous nickel tungstate (NiWO4) nanostructure and its application as a novel cathode material for supercapacitors. The effect of reaction temperature on the electrochemical properties of the NiWO4 electrode was studied, and results demonstrate that the material synthesized at 70 °C (NiW-70) has shown the highest specific capacitance of 586.2 F g(-1) at 0.5 A g(-1) in a three-electrode system. To achieve a high energy density, a NiW-70//activated carbon asymmetric supercapacitor is successfully assembled by use of NiW-70 and activated carbon as the cathode and anode, respectively, and then, its electrochemical performance is characterized by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge measurements. The results show that the assembled asymmetric supercapacitor can be cycled reversibly between 0 and 1.6 V with a high specific capacitance of 71.1 F g(-1) at 0.25 A g(-1), which can deliver a maximum energy density of 25.3 Wh kg(-1) at a power density of 200 W kg(-1). Furthermore, this asymmetric supercapacitor also presented an excellent, long cycle life along with 91.4% specific capacitance being retained after 5000 consecutive times of cycling.
