Measuring temperature using MRI: a powerful and versatile technique

The Larmor frequency of water protons has reliably linear temperature dependence. Since this frequency shift is easily measurable using relatively simple MRI techniques, a remarkable opportunity arises for uniquely non-invasive and accurate temperature evaluation, deep within any water-containing object.
