Abstract
In the present study, the fertilization potential of biosolids (sewage sludge; SS) for the cultivation of Aloe vera plants was investigated using block design. Pot experiments were conducted in this study using 50, 100, 150, and 200 g/kg of SS. Results showed that SS-fertilized soils significantly (p < 0.05) affected the proximate, biochemical, and heavy metal parameters of A. vera plants. In particular, the T4 treatment gave the best results with maximum plant height 62.21 ± 0.10 cm, number of leaves per plant 18.00 ± 4.00, shoot-to-root ratio 6:1, fresh weight 1972.10 ± 0.07 g per plant, dry weight 175.49 ± 0.15 g per plant, total chlorophyll content (TCC) 0.41 ± 0.02 mg/g fwt., carotenoids 0.25 ± 0.04 mg/g, total flavonoids 7.55 ± 0.05 mg/g, total tannins 3.87 ± 0.06 µg/g, ascorbic acid 532.14 ± 0.10 µg/g, superoxide dismutase (SOD) 46.28 ± 0.19 µg/g, catalase (CAT) 119.23 ± 0.17 µg/g, salicylic acid 3.05 ± 0.12 mg/ml and anthraquinones 0.45 ± 0.04 mg/ml, respectively. The proximate plant characteristics were 96.25 ± 2.71% moisture content, crude protein 0.93 ± 0.05%, crude fiber 5.78 ± 0.44%, crude lipid 3.25 ± 0.02%, lignin 10.74 ± 0.30%, cellulose 13.56 ± 1.06%, hemicellulose 7.24 ± 0.14%, ash 8.75 ± 0.03%, and carbohydrate contents 52.18 ± 1.10% in comparison with control treatment. The bioaccumulation factor showed that heavy metal accumulation was in the order of Cd < Ni < Cu < Pb < Cr < Zn < Fe. The prediction models developed on the basis of soil properties showed good fitness results for the prediction of heavy metal uptake by A. vera plants. The study presented a sustainable approach for managing SS in an eco-friendly way while producing good-quality A. vera plants.

Abstract
High concentrations of metal(loid)s in phosphate rocks and wastewater associated with phosphate mining and fertilizer production operations pose potential contamination risks to water resources. Here, we propose using Sr isotopes as a tracer to determine possible water quality impacts induced from phosphate mining and fertilizers production. We utilized a regional case study in the northeastern Negev in Israel, where salinization of groundwater and a spring have been attributed to historic leaking and contamination from an upstream phosphate mining wastewater. This study presents a comprehensive dataset of major and trace elements, combined with Sr isotope analyses of the Rotem phosphate rocks, local aquifer carbonate rocks, wastewater from phosphate operation in Mishor Rotem Industries, saline groundwater suspected to be impacted by Rotem mining activities, and two types of background groundwater from the local Judea Group aquifer. The results of this study indicate that trace elements that are enriched in phosphate wastewater were ubiquitously present in the regional and non-contaminated groundwater at the same levels as detected in the impacted waters, and thus cannot be explicitly linked to the phosphate wastewater. The 87Sr/86Sr ratios of phosphate rocks (0.707794 ± 5 × 10-5) from Mishor Rotem Industries were identical to that of associated wastewater (0.707789 ± 3 × 10-5), indicating that the Sr isotopic fingerprint of phosphate rocks is preserved in its wastewater. The 87Sr/86Sr (0.707949 ± 3 × 10-6) of the impacted saline groundwater were significantly different from those of the Rotem wastewater and the background saline groundwater, excluding phosphate mining effluents as the major source for contamination of the aquifer. Instead, the 87Sr/86Sr ratio of the impacted water was similar to the composition of brines from the Dead Sea, which suggests that the salinization was derived primarily from industrial Dead Sea effluents with distinctive Sr isotope and geochemical fingerprints.

Abstract
The improvement of plant growth and yield becomes crucial to feed the rising world population, especially in harsh conditions, drought, salt stress, lack of nutrition, and many other challenges. To cope with these stresses, plants developed an adaptation strategy (mycorrhiza), which is an efficient way to reinforce their growth and resistance. For this purpose, we studied the influence of mycorrhizal fungi isolated from a natural rock phosphate mine in the vicinity of some native plants and agricultural soil to assess their capacity in increasing the growth, nutritional profile improvement, and biochemical parameters in the inoculated wheat plants. Results showed a high diversity of isolated arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) spores in the agricultural soil, and less diversity in the natural phosphate samples, where three main genera were identified: glomus, gigaspora, and acaulospora. The chlorophyll content increased by 116% in the native inoculum (NM) flowed by Glomus sp2 from agricultural soil (98%) compared to non-mycorrhized plants, which significantly impact the growth and plant biomass (an increase of 90 and 73%, respectively). The same rate of change was shown on total phenolic compounds with an increase of 64% in the plants inoculated with Glomus sp2 in the presence of TSP, compared to the non-mycorrhized plants. In conclusion, the inoculation of wheat plants with AMF spores improved plants’ growth via the increase in the density of the root system, which implies better assimilation of nutrients, especially in mycorrhizal plants with phosphorus fertilization regime, triple superphosphate (TSP) or natural rock phosphate (RP). This improvement of the physiological and biochemical parameters (chlorophyll contents and phenolic compound) of the treated plants reflected the positive impact of AMF, especially those originating from RP. AMF in phosphate mine could be an important source of inoculum to improve plant nutrient efficiency with the direct use of RP as fertilizer.

Abstract
The effects of phosphate mining on rhizosphere bacteria in surrounding vegetables and crops, including Lactuca sativa, Glycine max, and Triticum aestivum, are assessed in this study. As results, phosphate mining significantly increased the contents of some large elements, trace elements, and heavy metals in the surrounding agricultural soil, including phosphorus, magnesium, boron, cadmium, lead, arsenic, zinc, and chromium (P < 0.05). The community richness and diversity of bacteria in rhizosphere of the three crops were significantly reduced by phosphate mining (P < 0.05). Abundances of Sphingomonas and RB41 in the rhizosphere soil of phosphate mining area improved compared with the baseline in the non-phosphate mining area. Beta diversity analysis indicated that phosphate mining led to the differentiation of bacterial community structure in plant rhizospheres. Bacterial metabolic analysis indicated that different plant rhizosphere microbial flora developed various metabolic strategies in response to phosphate mining stress, including enriching unsaturated fatty acids, antibiological transport systems, cold shock proteins, etc. This study reveals the interaction between crops, rhizosphere bacteria, and soil pollutants. Select differentiated microbial strains suitable for specific plant rhizosphere environments are necessary for agricultural soil remediation. Additionally, the problem of destruction of agricultural soil and microecology caused by phosphate mining must be solved.
