Abstract
Evidence indicates that individual or groups of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are associated with risk of breast cancer (BC). Epidemiological studies of PBDEs and BC progression are scarce. This study aimed to investigate the relationships between PBDE burdens in adipose tissues and prognostic biomarkers of BC as well as progression-free survival (PFS) of patients for the first time. The concentrations of 14 PBDE congeners in breast adipose tissues of 183 cases from the eastern area of southern China were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated by logistic regression models for the associations between PBDE levels and prognostic biomarkers. Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses were conducted to identify the correlations between PBDEs and PFS. The results showed that BDE-99 and 190 levels were positively associated with clinical stage and N stage respectively (OR = 2.61 [1.26-5.40], OR = 2.78 [1.04-7.46]). Concentrations of BDE-28 and BDE-183 were negatively associated with the expression of estrogen receptor (ER) (OR = 0.30 [0.11-0.81]; 0.39 [0.15-0.99]) and progesterone receptor (PR) (OR = 0.36 [0.14-0.92]; 0.37 [0.15-0.91]), and increased BDE-47 was associated with lower human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) expression (OR = 0.44 [0.23-0.86]). Adipose levels of BDE-71, 99, 138, 153, 154 and total PBDEs were positively associated with p53 expression (all P < 0.05). Finally, BDE-47, 99 and 183 were considered as independent prognostic factors for shorter PFS in the Cox models (adjusted hazard ratios = 3.14 [1.26-7.82]; 2.25 [1.03-4.94]; 2.60 [1.08-6.25], respectively). The recurrence risk and prognosis of BC may be closely bound to the body burdens of certain PBDE congeners. Further epidemiological and experimental studies are needed for confirmation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The global cancer pattern indicated that there were about 2.3 million newly diagnosed breast cancer cases in 2020 worldwide, and was the most common cancer incident in the world. The aim of the study was to assess the prognostic impact of various treatment modalities and cancer-specific overall and disease-free survival rates. METHODS One, 5-, 10-, and 15 -years survival rates were calculated; furthermore, overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) rates were obtained using Kaplan Meier method. To assess the effects of different treatment methods and all clinico-pathological variables with OS and DFS, cox-regression method was used to achieve adjusted hazard ratios of mortality and recurrence rates. RESULTS During the study period, 504 primary breast cancer cases were evaluated, with mean age of 49.69(± 10.68) years. The one, 5-, 10-, and 15- year survival rates were 98.21%, 87.39%, 68.17% and, 60.60%, respectively. Tamoxifen + GnRh Agonist and Tamoxifen protocols decreased the hazard of relapse 46% and 84%, respectively. The best one-year OS was obtained for patients treated with Tamoxifen with an aromatase inhibitor (AI) for about 100% overall survival rate. The breast cancer mortality rate was lower than relapse rate in the first and 5thyears of disease, but 10- and 15- year mortality were higher than 10- and 15 -year relapse rates. CONCLUSION Our results revealed better overall survival and disease- free survival among primary breast cancer patients in East Azerbaijan; consequently, this underscores establishing and using better chemotherapy and hormone therapy protocols and sufficient follow-ups.

Abstract
Background Epidemiological studies commonly identify the clinical characteristics and survival outcomes of patients with breast cancer at five years. Our study aims to describe the sociodemographic, clinicopathological characteristics and determine the long-term event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS) of a Peruvian population with triple-negative breast cancer. Methods We reviewed the medical records of new cases treated at a single institution in the period 2000–2014. The survival analysis included patients with stages I-IV. Survival estimates at 10 years were calculated with the Kaplan-Meier method and compared with the Log-rank test. We further used multivariate Cox regression analysis to calculate prognostic factors of recurrence and mortality. Results Among the 2007 patients included, the median age at diagnosis was 49 years (19–95 years). Most patients presented histologic grade III (68.7%), tumor stage II (34.2%), and III (51.0%) at diagnosis. Local and distant relapse was present in 31.9 and 51.4% of the patients, respectively. The most frequent sites of metastasis were the lungs (14.5%), followed by bone (9.7%), brain (9.6%), and liver (7.9%). The median follow-up was 153 months. At 3, 5, and 10 years, the EFS of the population was 55%, 49%, and 41%, respectively, while the OS was 64%, 56%, and 47%, respectively. Moreover, an N3 lymph node status was the most important prognostic factor for both disease relapse (HR: 2.54, 95% CI: 2.05–3.15) and mortality (HR: 2.51, 95% CI: 2.01–3.14) at ten years. An older age and higher T staging were associated with a worse OS, while patients who received radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy had better survival rates. Conclusion The sociodemographic features of Peruvian patients with TNBC are similar to those of other populations. However, our population was diagnosed at more advanced clinical stages, and thus, EFS and OS were lower than international reports while prognostic factors were similar to previous studies.

Abstract
Purpose In breast cancer, a pathological complete response (pCR) has been described as generally resulting in a favorable prognosis. However, there are subgroups, such as patients with a mutation in BRCA1 or BRCA2, in which the effect of pCR on the prognosis is suspected to be weaker. Patients with a family history of breast and/or ovarian cancer may therefore react differently in relation to pCR and prognosis, and this is investigated in this study. Patients and Methods Breast cancer patients were identified from a clinical breast cancer registry. The study subjects had been treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy from 2001 to 2018 and their pathological and clinical information as well as medical family history were available. They were considered to have a positive family history if they had at least 1 first-degree relative with breast and/or ovarian cancer. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to study the association between family history, pCR (ypT0; ypN0), and disease-free survival (DFS). Results Of 1,480 patients, 228 (15.4%) had a positive family history. The pCR rates were 24.9% in all patients, and 24.4% and 27.6% in those without/with a family history, respectively. Family history was not associated with a higher pCR rate (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 1.23; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.85-1.76; p = 0.27) or a different disease-free survival (DFS; adjusted hazard ratio [HR] 1.15; 95% CI 0.88-1.52; p = 0.30). pCR did not affect the prognosis differently in relation to family history. Conclusions In this retrospective analysis, family history was not associated with pCR and DFS. pCR improved survival, independently of family history.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Demands for genetic counseling with BRCA1/2 examination have markedly increased. Accordingly, the incidence of uninformative results on BRCA1/2 mutation status has also increased. Because most patients examined for BRCA1/2 mutation have a high risk of hereditary breast and/or ovarian cancer, many patients suffer psychological distress even when the BRCA1/2 result is negative. We compared oncological outcomes between BRCA1/2-negative breast cancer with high risk of hereditary breast and/or ovarian cancer and sporadic breast cancer without risk of hereditary breast and/or ovarian cancer. METHODS The criteria for high risk for hereditary breast and/or ovarian cancer were defined as family history of breast and/or ovarian cancer in first- or second-degree relative, early onset breast cancer at <35 years old and bilateral breast cancer. Patients were matched maximally 1:3 into those who identified as negative for BRCA1/2 mutation with risk of hereditary breast and/or ovarian cancer (study group) and those who were not examined for BRCA1/2 mutation without risk for hereditary breast and/or ovarian cancer (control group). Matched variables were pathologic stage, estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 status. RESULTS All matching variables were successfully matched. Median follow-up duration was 57.8 months. There was no significant difference between the groups in disease-free survival (log-rank P = 0.197); however, the study group showed significantly better overall survival and breast cancer-specific survival (both P < 0.0001). We conducted subgroup analysis in the middle-aged group (36-54) and showed no significant difference for disease-free survival (P = 0.072) but significantly better overall survival and breast cancer-specific survival in the study group (P = 0.002 and P < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS BRCA1/2-negative breast cancer patients who had hereditary breast and/or ovarian cancer risk factors showed similar disease-free survival and better overall survival and breast cancer-specific survival compared with those with sporadic breast cancer without hereditary breast and/or ovarian cancer risk factors.
