Abstract
Organic-inorganic silver halide hybrids show abundant phase transitions and thermochromism. However, it is very rare that silver halides exhibit thermochromism related to thermotropic structure phase transition. Herein, a bromoargentate hybrid, [Pr-dabco]2Ag4Br6 (1) (Pr-dabco+ = 1-propyl-1,4-diazabicyclo-[2.2.2]octan-1-ium), with tetranuclear [Ag4Br6]2- clusters was prepared and characterized by microanalysis, ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques. Interestingly, 1 undergoes an irreversible structure phase transition at ∼436 K in the first heating process, which is accompanied by an abrupt color change from colorless to yellow; however, a reversible color change between pale yellow and yellow is observed in the next heating-cooling cycles. Notably, DSC measurement revealed that a reversible phase transition is associated with the change in color between pale yellow and yellow, while the powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) patterns corresponding to pale yellow and yellow phases are quite similar to each other. These observations demonstrate that thermochromism in the next heating-cooling runs is associated with a reversible structure phase transition, which perhaps concerns the disorder-order transformation of alkyl chains in the cationic ligand [Pr-dabco]+, and relevant to the anharmonic fluctuations of the Ag-Br and Ag-N bonds, a strong electron-phonon coupling effect is seen within the bromoargentate cluster.

Abstract
Four novel halobismuthate(iii) complexes with alkyl viologen cations: (R2Viol)2[Bi2X10] (R = n-butyl, n-pentyl, X = Cl, Br) have been synthesized. Both chloride complexes revealed photochromic behavior and were successfully utilized for the fabrication of OFET-based memory devices with high switching coefficients and good write-read-erase cycling stability.

Diimidazolium Halobismuthates [Dim] 2[Bi 2X 10] (X = Cl -, Br -, or I -): A New Class of Thermochromic and Photoluminescent Materials. Inorg Chem 2018; 57:7655-7664. Abstract
We present a novel family of polyhalide salts of Bi(III) with the general formula [Dim]2[Bi2X10], where Dim2+ is the diimidazolium cation (C9H14N4)2+ and X is Cl-, Br-, or I-. Single-phase materials are easily obtained by means of a mild solution chemistry method performed at room temperature. This [Dim]2[Bi2X10] family exhibits a crystal structure based on halobismuthate [Bi2X10]4- dimers, built by distorted {BiX6} octahedra interconnected by edge sharing, and sandwiched between two diimidazolium cations. The optical band gaps displayed by these materials (1.9-3.2 eV) allow their classification as semiconductors. Additionally, the three halides display photoluminescence with emission in the visible range. The behavior of [Dim]2[Bi2I10] is particularly interesting, as it shows an optical band gap of 1.9 eV, a broad band photoluminescence emission, and a relatively long emission lifetime of 190 ns. Moreover, the iodide and bromide compounds also exhibit a reversible solid state thermochromism, being the first example of a bromobismuthate with this property. The diimidazolium cations play an important structural role by stabilizing the crystal structure and balancing the charges of the [Bi2X10]4- dimers. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations suggest that they play a key role in the thermochromic behavior. Therefore, compounds [Dim]2[Bi2X10] (X = Cl-, Br-, or I-) represent a very versatile family in which the optical band gap can be tuned by changing the halide or temperature. This makes them promising new materials for different optoelectronic applications, in particular for obtaining new solar absorbers.

Abstract
In this article, three bisimidazole derivatives (1,4-bis(2-ethylimidazol-1-yl)butane, L1; 4,4′-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-1,1′-biphenyl, L2′; and 1,3-bis(2-ethylimidazol-1-yl)propane, L3) were employed to solvothermally react with AgI in an acidic environment, creating three new 1-D chained iodoargentates [H(L1)][Ag5I6]·DMF (DMF = N,N′-dimethylformamide) 1, [L2][Ag3I5] (L22+ = 4,4′-di(1H-imidazol-1-ium)-1,1′-biphenyl) 2, and [H2(L3)][Ag2I4] 3. L22+ in 2 originated from the in situ N-alkylation of L2′ with the CH3OH solvent. X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis reveals that (i) in 1, Ag+ and I− aggregate to form a 1-D tube-like iodoargentate, which exhibits the same topology as the carbon tube; (ii) the chain structure of the iodoargentate in 2 is based on a kind of trinuclear Ag–I cluster, which can be viewed as a segment of the classical cubic M4I4 cluster; (iii) the chain structure of the iodoargentate in 3 is simple, which can be described as a linear arrangement of the AgI4 tetrahedra by sharing edges. The photoluminescence analysis reveals that at 77 K, (i) 1 and 2 emit strong yellow light with ms-grade photoluminescence lifetimes (5.460 ms for 1, 6.931 ms for 2); (ii) 3 possesses photochromic luminescence properties. Upon excitation at 254 nm, it emits blue-green light, whereas upon excitation at 365 nm, it emits yellow light. Three bisimidazole-based chained iodoargentates were solvothermally synthesized, and their photoluminescent behaviors at different temperatures were investigated. Of those, 3 has been found to possess photochromic luminescence properties.![]()
