Synthesis and Structural Manipulation of a Polyanionic Zincoborate [Zn(H2O)6](NO3)2·[Zn{B3O3(OH)4}2(H2O)4]·2H2O by the Molten Salt Method and its Potential Application as a Flame Retardant

High-pressure synthesis of borate-nitrates: crystal structure of M 3B7O13(NO3) (M = Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+)

The orthorhombic nitrate-boracites with the sum formula M 3B7O13NO3 (M = Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+) were synthesized in a Walker-type multianvil apparatus under high-pressure/high-temperature conditions of 6 GPa and 800 °C, respectively. The crystal structures of the five isotypic substances, which crystallize in the space group Pca21, were determined via single-crystal X-ray diffraction and the structural features of the incorporated nitrate anions are discussed.

Structural Characterization and ORR Activity of a Copper Complex Borate and an Unexpected [Ni(atta)(SO4)0.5]+ Borate-Sulfate

Two metal templated borates, [Ni(atta)(SO₄)_0.5]·[B₅O₆(OH)₄] (1) and [Cu(1-MI)₄]·[B₅O₆(OH)₄]₂·1-MI₂ (2), have been synthesized. The structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and further characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), elemental analysis, and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). The structure of 1 consists of [B₅O₆(OH)₄]^- clusters and [Ni(atta)(SO₄)_0.5]⁺ complexes, which shows a very rare Ni-O-S bond. 1 and 2 exhibit a hydrogen-bonded network formed by [B₅O₆(OH)₄]^- clusters. Oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activities of 1 and 2 were explored.

Recent Advances in Crystalline Oxidopolyborate Complexes of d-Block or p-Block Metals: Structural Aspects, Syntheses, and Physical Properties

Crystalline materials containing hybrid inorganic–organic metal borates (complexes with oxidoborate ligands) display a variety of novel framework building blocks. The structural aspects of these hybrid metallaoxidoborates containing Cd^(II), Co^(II), Cu^(II), Ga^(III), In^(III), Mn^(II), Ni^(II) or Zn^(II) metal centers are discussed in this review. The review describes synthetic approaches to these hybrid materials, their physical properties, their spectroscopic properties and their potential applications.
