Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The purpose of this review and meta-analysis was to explore the effectiveness of creative writing therapies for the management of depression and suicidal ideation. RECENT FINDINGS Twenty one of the 31 reviewed studies showed that creative writing significantly improved depressive symptoms, while five studies suggested improvement in other symptoms. The results of meta-analyses showed that narrative writing significantly reduced depression compared to those in neutral writing or treatment as usual condition in both post intervention and follow-up. However, the number of studies exploring the effects of creative writing in suicidal ideation was too low to perform a meta-analysis. A structured and well-targeted intervention using creative writing could have beneficial results for the management of depressive symptoms. More studies are needed to explore the potential benefits of creative writing for reducing suicidal ideation.

Abstract
Postpartum depression (PPD) is classified under postpartum psychiatric disorders and initiates soon after birthing, eliciting neuropsychological and behavioral deficits in mothers and offspring. Globally, PPD is estimated to be associated with 130-190 per 1000 birthing. The severity and incidences of PPD have aggravated in the recent years due to the several unfavorable environmental and geopolitical circumstances. The purpose of this systematic review hence is to explore the contributions of recent circumstances on the pathogenesis and incidence of PPD. The search, selection and retrieval of the articles published during the last three years were systematically performed. The results from the primary studies indicate that unfavorable contemporary socio-geopolitical and environmental circumstances (e.g. Covid-19 pandemic, political conflicts/wars, and natural calamities; such as floods and earthquakes) detrimentally affect PPD etiology. A combination of socio-economic and psychological factors, including perceived lack of support and anxiousness about the future may contribute to drastic aggravation of PPD incidences. Finally, we outline some of the potential treatment regimens (e.g. inter-personal psycho- and art-based therapies) that may prove to be effective in amelioration of PPD-linked symptoms in birthing women, either alone or in complementation with traditional pharmacological interventions. We propose these psychological and art-based intervention strategies may beneficially counteract the negative influences of the unfortunate recent events across multiple cultures, societies and geographical regions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND More attention is paid to the survival and treatment of the sick infant in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and parental stress is not considered. The purpose of this study was to determine samples of the level of parental stress in the NICU. METHOD This study is a descriptive-analytical study in which Parental Stress and General Health were used in an analytical national survey in Iran. The research sample consists of 2456 parents of infants admitted to NICU. The sampling method was multi-stage random. We used 11- item parental stress questionnaire and 28-item general health questionnaire for the data collection. RESULT Baloch ethnicity with an average of 11.52 had the highest level of stress. The mean stress score of mothers was higher than fathers. The mean score of all dimensions of physical symptoms, anxiety, social functioning, depression, and total mental health score in mothers was higher than fathers. There was a statistically significant difference in the length of hospitalization in terms of different levels of parental stress scores (p < 0.002). Lack of decisive response to parents was one of the most stressful issues (8.1%). CONCLUSION Our result shows mothers' stress was higher than fathers. So that health policymakers should pay attention to stress risk factors to provide appropriate interventions according stress risk factors Future studies should design appropriate interventions to reduce parental stress, especially in high-risk mothers.

Abstract
Objectives Mothers with infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) are at increased risk of psychological distress, which can have lasting negative impacts on both mother and infant. However, few interventions are available to promote these mothers' mental health and wellbeing. In the context of a pilot randomized controlled trial testing a mindfulness intervention for mothers with infants in the NICU, we explore the experiences of the mothers participating in the mindfulness-based intervention, with mothers in the control group as comparison, and the ways they felt it influenced their time in the NICU. Method Twenty-six participants (15 participants in the intervention arm and 11 participants in the control arm) recruited from two NICUs in an urban center in Eastern United States completed semi-structured interviews. Interviews explored the mothers' NICU experience as well as experience with the mindfulness and health education (control) programs. Data was analyzed using an iterative, thematic constant comparison process informed by grounded theory. Results Mothers reported that participation in the mindfulness intervention helped them to calm the chaos through recentering and fostering connections, find comfort through non-judgmental acceptance, gain perspective on the situation, and facilitate self-care. These were experienced only among the mothers in the intervention arm. These themes did not vary based on demographics of the mothers in the mindfulness study arm or their pre-study awareness of mindfulness. Conclusions Mindfulness interventions may foster new practices and perspectives for mothers with infants in the NICU, potentially leading to improved mental health wellbeing.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Parents of infants born premature and/or sick and who require neonatal care are at risk of poor mental health. Currently, there is no comprehensive knowledge about interventions (ie, types, evidence, resources) that have been exclusively designed to improve the psychosocial well-being of this population group. PURPOSE To undertake a systematic scoping review of interventions focused on improving the psychosocial well-being of parents of sick/premature infants who required neonatal care to identify the ( a ) types of interventions, ( b ) evidence of the interventions, and ( c ) level of resources required to deliver the interventions. SEARCH STRATEGY e searched 7 databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Cochrane, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Global Index), reviewed references, and followed up key authors. RESULTS From 10,516 hits, 38 articles met the inclusion criteria (36 different studies/interventions). Studies included creative oriented (n = 11), group/peer support (n = 4), relaxation/mindfulness (n = 3), spiritual/religious (n = 4), psychotherapeutic-based (n = 11), and "other" (n = 3) (eg, sleep, acupuncture). Most had been undertaken in high-income settings with mothers and required varying levels of resources within and between the different intervention types. While some interventions were effective, there was high heterogeneity with similar interventions using different designs, protocols, and outcomes. Most intervention types included studies that highlighted what parents valued (eg, self-care, relaxation, social opportunities). IMPLICATIONS FOR RESEARCH Evidence highlights a wide range of potential interventions for nursing and other specialist staff to consider and offers insights into potential mechanisms of effectiveness to underpin future intervention design.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the efficacy of an expressive writing intervention on promoting psychological well-being of women who have had a diagnosis of fetal abnormality. DESIGN AND SETTING An open, randomized controlled trial with parallel group design was conducted at a tertiary hospital in China. 100 women were randomly assigned into either the expressive writing (EW) intervention group or the control group, and 80 women eventually took part in all the phases of the study. Psychological variables including post-traumatic growth (PTG), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and resilience were assessed at baseline, immediately after the intervention and 1-month follow-up. PARTICIPANTS Women who have had a diagnosis of fetal abnormalities and decided to terminate pregnancies. INTERVENTION Women in the intervention group were asked to write three 15 min essays in regard to their experiences with the fetal abnormalities. FINDINGS The intervention group had significantly higher level of PTG (p = 0.003) and lower level of PTSD symptoms (p = 0.023) immediately after the intervention, as compared with the control group. In 1-month follow-up, intervention participants demonstrated significant improvement in PTG (p = 0.014) but insignificant reduction for PTSD symptoms. No significant effects were observed in both groups in terms of changes over time in resilience. KEY CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE EW is efficacious for improving women's PTG and easing their symptoms of PTSD to some extent. Medical staff should pay more attention to this population's psychological status. In the future, EW interventions need to be conducted in larger samples with more severe symptoms of PTSD to validate its effectiveness. The efficacy of longer and more frequent writing interventions should also be investigated.
