Fluorescence Properties Change of Lanthanide Coordination Polymers Dispersed in Mesoporous SBA-15 by Energy Transition Process

Crystal structures of two SmIII complexes with dipicolinate [DPA]2- ligands: comparison of luminescent properties of products obtained at different pH values

The formation of the two title compounds, Na3[Sm(DPA)3]·14H2O tris-odium tris-(pyridine-2,6-di-carboxyl-ato-κ3 O 2,N,O 6)samarate(III) tetra-deca-hydrate, Na3[Sm(C7H3NO4)3]·14H2O, and catena-poly[[[di-aqua-(6-carb-oxy-pyridine-2-carb-oxyl-ato-κ3 O 2,N,O 6)samarium(III)]-μ-pyridine-2,6-di-carboxyl-ato-κ4 O 2,N,O 6:O 2] tetra-hydrate], {[Sm(C7H3NO4)(C7H4NO4)(H2O)2]·4H2O}n, depends on the pH value adjusted with NaOH solution. In both crystal structures, the coordination spheres of the SmIII cations were found to be best described by a tricapped trigonal prism (TTP), with a more regular O6N3 donor set for Na3[Sm(DPA)3]·14H2O than that of O7N2 for [Sm(DPA)(HDPA)(H2O)2]·4H2O. The supra-molecular features of both crystal structures are dominated by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between water mol-ecules and the O atoms of the dipicolinato ligands. Samples were made from solutions at pH = 2, pH = 5, pH = 7, and pH = 10, and the crystals present in each sample were ground to a powder. The powder samples were analyzed with powder X-ray diffraction and luminescence spectroscopy. The splitting of the bands in the luminescence spectra recorded on powders at 77 K was observed to vary with the pH.

Dual-emitting barium based metal-organic nanosheets as a potential sensor for temperature and anthrax biomarkers

The development of novel 2D materials, due to the promising applications they have enabled through their unique properties, has attracted increasingly more research interest. In this regard, novel dual-emitting coordination polymer nanosheets were developed by doping Eu³⁺ and Tb³⁺ ions into the nanostructures of the [Ba(DPA)₂(H₂O)₂] _n (DPA = dipicolinic acid) coordination polymer (BCP). Single crystal x-ray crystallography revealed that BCP is a 1D coordination polymer and its three-dimensional supramolecular architecture is constructed with a relatively strong hydrogen bonding in the ac crystallographic plane and weak non-covalent interactions along the b axis. Using energetic ultrasound irradiations, synthesis of nanoscale BCP along with the unzipping of the weak interactions between the ac layers was accomplished. The resulting BCP nanosheets was used as the host lattice and was doped with Eu³⁺ and Tb³⁺ ions. Remarkably, the sensing ability of both Eu³⁺ and Tb³⁺ doped coordination polymer (Ln@BCP) nanosheets towards temperature and the DPA anthrax biomarker were investigate. The high relative sensitivity value of 2.42% K^-1 and their reusability, makes Ln@BCP nanosheets an ideal candidate for the nanothermometry. They also exhibited high selective detection characteristics towards the DPA anthrax biomarker with a 0.03 nM detection limit. Therefore, Ln@BCP nanosheets can also be considered as an efficient multi-responsive optical sensor.

Chemical transformation of a luminescent two-dimensional Eu(iii) coordination polymer in the aqueous phase

We report a 2D Eu-based MOF that give promising applications in several areas, especially in luminescence sensing. This compound can be exfoliated in nanosheets and also, transformed into a hydrated polýmer with strong red luminescence by naked eye.

The crystal structures of {LnCu5}3+ (Ln = Gd, Dy and Ho) 15-metallacrown-5 complexes and a reevaluation of the isotypic EuIII analogue

Three new isotypic heteropolynuclear complexes, namely penta-aqua-carbonato-penta-kis-(glycinehydroxamato)nitrato-penta-copper(II)lanthanide(III) x-hydrate, [LnCu5(GlyHA)5(CO3)(NO3)(H2O)5]·xH2O (GlyHA2- is glycine-hydrox-amate, N-hy-droxy-glycinamidate or amino-aceto-hydroxamate, C2H4N2O2 2-), with lanthanide(III) (Ln III) = gadolinium (Gd, 1, x = 3.5), dysprosium (Dy, 2, x = 3.28) and holmium (Ho, 3, x = 3.445), within a 15-metallacrown-5 class were obtained on reaction of lanthanide(III) nitrate, copper(II) acetate and sodium glycinehydroxamate. Complexes 1-3 contain five copper(II) ions and five bridging GlyHA2- anions, forming a [CuGlyHA]5 metallamacrocyclic core. The Ln III ions are coordinated to the metallamacrocycle through five O-donor hydroxamates. The electroneutrality of complexes 1-3 is achieved by a bidentate carbonate anion coordinated to the Ln III ion and a monodentate nitrate anion coordinated apically to one of the copper(II) ions of the metallamacrocycle. The lattice parameters of complexes 1-3 are similar to those previously reported for an EuIII-CuII 15-metallacrown-5 complex with glycine-hydroxamate of proposed composition [EuCu5(GlyHA)5(OH)(NO3)2(H2O)4]·3.5H2O [Stemmler et al. (1999 ▸). Inorg. Chem. 38, 2807-2817]. High-quality X-ray data obtained for 1-3 have allowed a re-evaluation of the X-ray data solution proposed earlier for the EuCu5 complex and suggest that the formula is actually [EuCu5(GlyHA)5(CO3)(NO3)(H2O)5]·3.5H2O.
