COVID-19's fear-uncertainty effect on green supply chain management and sustainability performances: the moderate effect of corporate social responsibility

The nexus between green intellectual capital, blockchain technology, green manufacturing, and sustainable performance

Enterprises across the globe are facing increasing pressure to effectively utilize resources and reduce costs through green supply chain practices. Emerging technology, such as blockchain technology which enables green practices, has become a contemporary industrial paradigm. However, enterprises need to build green intellectual capital to implement blockchain technology, which can be key to realizing green supply chain practices. This research examines the impact of green intellectual capital (GIC) on blockchain technology and its role in implementing green manufacturing to achieve sustainability. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was utilized for assessing the proposed hypotheses, and cross-sectional data was accumulated from manufacturing firms. As per the results, GIC, which includes green human capital, green structural capital, and green relational capital has a crucial role in the implementation of blockchain technology. The outcomes also indicated that the adoption of blockchain technology significantly influences green manufacturing. Moreover, green manufacturing (GM) has a substantial role in improving business sustainability. This empirical research provides a deeper understanding of how GIC and blockchain technology contribute to the implementation of GM. This research also provides guidelines that managers, policymakers, and producers can use to facilitate the incorporation of GM practice into business activities.

The influence of internship satisfaction and the psychological contract on the career identity behavior of fresh graduates

Introduction

Frequent resignation of young workers brings huge costs to the organizational management of enterprises. The frequent turnover behavior is a sign of low career identity, and exploring the paths that influence career identity behaviors is necessary. Previous studies have found that internship satisfaction and the psychological contract can influence career identity behavior. However, the dimensions of the psychological contract are unclear, and it is uncertain whether internship satisfaction can influence career identity behavior through the different dimensions of the psychological contract. This study attempts to expand the concept of psychological contract and construct a multiple mediation model. It aims to analyze the mediating role of different dimensions of the psychological contract between internship satisfaction and career identity behavior.

Methods

A sample survey was conducted on Chinese fresh graduates by way of the questionnaire survey, and a total of 576 valid questionnaires were collected. Amos 26.0 was used to analyze the data and verify the multiple mediation model.

Results

The results showed that psychological contract can be divided into three dimensions: transactional contract, relational contract, and developmental contract. Internship satisfaction can positively influence career identity behavior via the three dimensions of psychological contract, and there are differences in mediating effects among the dimensions. The mediating effect of developmental contract is the highest, relational contract is the second, and transactional contract is the lowest.

Discussion

This article expands the dimensions of psychological contract, emphasizes the importance of developmental contract, contributes to the literature on organizational psychology, and provides scales and empirical evidence for future research. The analysis points out that fresh graduates with long-term development opportunities often show higher career identity behavior. This provides valuable insights for enhancing career identity behavior, improving career sustainability, and assisting organizations in managing human resource mobility.

Corporate social responsibility and Islamic social finance impact on banking sustainability post-COVID-19 pandemic

This study aims to explore Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Islamic Social Finance activities in Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) as one of the Development of Financial Institutions (DFIs) in Malaysia and their impact on sustainability post-coronavirus disease (COVID-19) (2021-2023). A semi-structured interview was conducted among the top management and employees of BPMB. Resultantly, the bank has aligned its Islamic Social Finance and CSR activities with the third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Nevertheless, the impact on banking sustainability post-pandemic remains uncertain as efforts towards SDG remain at the preliminary stage. Conclusively, Islamic Social Finance and CSR are critical to enhance banking sustainability. This study provide insight to other DFIs in understanding the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Islamic Social Finance activities in achieving sustainability post pandemic.

Transition to a sustainable food supply chain during disruptions: A study on the Brazilian food companies in the Covid-19 era

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought negative impacts to global supply chains, in particular to the agricultural sector. Although these companies have been developing programs to mitigate the impacts caused by COVID-19, researchers have been worried about a possible weakening of the adoption of sustainable initiatives due to a focus on dealing with the consequences of the pandemic. Grounded on the Resource Orchestration Theory, the goal of this study was to assess the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak on sustainable (environmental, social, and economic) performance in the context of agri-food supply chains. To do so, a questionnaire survey was used to collect data from 349 different medium and large agri-food companies in Brazil. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares technique. This study has found out that, under the impacts arising from COVID-19 pandemic (1) supply management and transportation and logistics management had a positive impact on food supply chains' sustainable performance; (2) the effects of relationship management and supply chain wide impact management were found to be negative on sustainable performance; and (3) the effects of demand and production management on sustainable performance were not considered significant. We propose a framework that clearly represents the relationship between the disrupted supply chain areas and sustainable performance through the development of orchestration capabilities. By knowing which kinds of impacts produce the most significant effects on sustainable performance, policy makers and managers will be able to make decisions and take actions to avoid negative effects and to improve firms' sustainable performance.

Is it an opportunity? COVID-19's effect on the green supply chains, and perceived service's quality (SERVQUAL): the moderate effect of big data analytics in the healthcare sector

This study examines the relationship between uncertainty-fear toward COVID-19, green supply chain management (GSCM), and perceived service quality based on the five dimensions service quality model (SERVQUAL). It also tests the moderating effect of big data analytics (BDA) capabilities. Based on a sample of 300 healthcare managers and customers, we used partial least squares structural equation modeling to analyze the data and test our hypotheses. The empirical results show that the uncertainty-fear toward COVID-19 positively affects GSCM. Also, BDA moderates the relationship between uncertainty-fear toward COVID-19 and GSCM. GSCM positively impacts service quality (empathy, responsiveness, and assurance) but not reliability or tangible items. In addition, GSCM significantly mediates the relationship between uncertainty-fear toward COVID-19 and services' empathy, responsiveness, and assurance. However, it has an insignificant mediation effect regarding reliability and tangible-item dimensions.

Does the Inclusion of Disabled Employees Affect Firm Performance? Empirical Evidence from China

Disabled persons are the largest minority group in the world and an important part of the labor market. However, few studies use empirical methods to investigate the economic consequences of including disabled employees from the perspective of the demand side. Based on the background of China’s employment quota system for the disabled, and using a sample of Chinese Listed Companies from 2016 to 2020, this paper empirically tests the influence of including disabled employees on firm performance. The results show that there is a U-shaped relationship between the inclusion of disabled employees and firm performance. Firm size and social donation have a negative incentive effect, while average employee compensation has a positive incentive effect on the relationship between disabled employees and firm performance. The above results provide empirical evidence for companies to arrange a diversified labor force, and also provide a new perspective for policymakers to adjust policies to promote the employment of the disabled.
