Abstract
Six new aromatic acids (1–6) and three new leucine derivatives containing an unusual oxime moiety (7–9) were isolated and identified from the deep-sea-derived actinomycetes strain Streptomyces chumphonensis SCSIO15079, together with two known compounds (10–11). The structures of 1–9 including absolute configurations were determined by detailed NMR, MS, and experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism spectroscopic analyses. Compounds 1–9 were evaluated for their antimicrobial and cytotoxicity activities, as well as their effects on intracellular lipid accumulation in HepG2 cells. Compounds 3 and 4, with the most potent inhibitory activity on intracellular lipid accumulation at 10 μM, were revealed with potential antihyperlipidemic effects, although the mechanism needs to be further studied.

Abstract
The present study consists of analyzing the phytochemical composition of Ipomoea batatas leaf powders and evaluating their antihyperlipidemic effect on rats receiving a high-fat diet. Ipomoea batatas leaves were collected from four agroecological areas of Cameroon, and powders were obtained after washing, drying, grinding, and sieving. Standard analytical methods were used to determine the phytochemical composition of two varieties (IRAD-tib1yellow-V1 and IRAD-1112white-V2) from North Z1, Adamawa Z2, West Z3, Center Z4. The effect of I. batatas leaf powder on lipid metabolism was assessed in vivo by feeding different groups of rats with a high-fat diet supplemented with 5 and 10% of I. batatas leaf powder during 30 days. At the end of the experimentation, total cholesterols, triglycerides, LDL- (low-density lipoprotein-) cholesterol, HDL- (High-density lipoprotein-) cholesterol, ASAT (aspartate aminotransferase), ALAT (alanine aminotransferase), and creatinine were measured using commercial enzymatic kits (Spinreact, Spain). The results of phytochemical analysis of I. batatas leaf powders revealed that the total phenol content ranged from 660.173 mg GAE/100 gDW (Z1V2) to 657.76 mg GAE/100 gDW (Z3V2), the flavonoids content ranged from 282.25 mgEC/100 gDW (Z3V1) to 325.05 mgEC/100 gDW (Z4V2), and the anthraquinone content ranged from 324.05 mg/100 gDW (Z3V2) to 326.72 mg/100 gDW (Z4V2). The total antioxidant capacity ranged from 19.00 (Z1V1) to 23.48 mg AAE/gDW (Z3V2), while the IC50 ranged from 1.58 mg/mL (Z1V1) to 3.08 mg/mL (Z3V2). Rats fed a high-fat diet and supplemented with 5 and 10% of I. batatas leaf powder showed a significant (p < 0.05) reduction in body weight compared to the control with a reduction rate ranging from 6 to 10%. The consumption of I. batatas leaf powder for 30 days significantly (p < 0.05) reduced serum total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, ALAT, and creatinine level. These results suggest the use of I. batatas leaves as a phytomedicine in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to assess the efficiency of psyllium husk ethanolic extract (PHEE) on Triton X-100 induced hyperlipidemic rats by studying the changes in hepatic and pancreatic function and histopathology. Forty male albino rats (bodyweight 175-188 g) were grouped randomly into four sets with ten rats. The experimental groups included: (1) control group (CON); (2) Triton X-100 induced hyperlipidemic group-rats were intraperitoneally injected with a single dose of Triton X-100 (100 mg/kg body weight) on the 21st day of Trial onset; (3) PHEE group-PHEE was orally administered (100 mg/kg body weight dissolved in 1 mL of distilled water) by gastric tube from the first day of the experiment until the fortieth day, once daily, (PHEE); (4) PHEE +Triton group, which received PHEE orally with the induction of hyperlipidemia. Treating hyperlipidemic rats with PHEE showed a decrease in the total serum lipids, triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), atherogenic index (AI), and malondialdehyde (MDA) with an increase in superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities. PHEE administration alleviated the negative impact of Triton on the serum levels of glucose, insulin, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA IR index), leptin hormone, Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) and proteinogram. The Triton-induced hyperlipidemic rats showed extensive histopathological changes in the liver and pancreas, which were alleviated with PHEE administration. It could be concluded that PHEE has potent effects against hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, and oxidative stress due to its biologically active constituents detected by GC-MS analysis. This study's findings may help develop a novel trial against the effects of hyperlipidemia in the future.

Abstract
Neuropathic pain is described as the "most terrible of all tortures that a nerve wound may inflict." The aim of the present study was to demonstrate the antinociceptive effect of Symplocos chinensis f. pilosa Ohwi water extract (SCW) and synthesized derivatives of the isolated compound. The antinociceptive effect was tested using the acetic acid-induced writhing and 5% formalin tests. Antinociceptive effects on neuropathic pain were evaluated using the von Frey test with chronic constriction injury (CCI) and surgical nerve injury (SNI) models and tail-flick test with a vincristine-induced pain model. An Ames test was also conducted. 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) was isolated and derivatives were synthesized with various acid groups. Among the plant water extracts, SCW showed significantly effective activity. Additionally, SCW presented antinociceptive effects in the neuropathic pain models. The SCW water fraction resulted in fewer writhes than the other fractions, and isolated 5-HMF was identified as an effective compound. Because 5-HMF revealed a positive response in the Ames test, derivatives were synthesized. Among the synthesized derivations, 5-succinoxymethylfurfural (5-SMF) showed the best effect in the neuropathic pain model. Our data suggest that SCW and the synthesized compound, 5-SMF, possess effective antinociceptive activity against neuropathic pain.

Abstract
Extensive phytochemical work on the 1-BuOH-soluble fraction of a MeOH extract of the leaves of Symplocos cochinchinensis var. philippinensis resulted in the isolation of 14 new triterpenene saponins, along with four known ones. Their structures were elucidated by comparison of NMR spectroscopic data with related compounds reported in the literature. Three oleanane-type saponins, symplocosins K, M, and P, possessed glucuronic acid as a sugar component, and their carboxyl groups appeared as methyl esters. These are probably formed during extraction and isolation procedures. Symplocosin K (9) showed moderate cytotoxicity toward A549 cells. In addition, all isolated compounds did not show α-glucosidase inhibitory activity.

Abstract
This study measured the impact of alisol B 23-acetate and alisol A 24-acetate, the main active ingredients of the traditional Chinese medicine Alismatis rhizoma, on total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) levels of hyperlipidemic mice. The binding of alisol B 23-acetate and alisol A 24-acetate to the key enzyme involved in the metabolism of TC, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutary-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, was studied using the reagent kit method and the western blotting technique combined with a molecular simulation technique. According to the results, alisol acetates significantly lower the TC, TG, and LDL-C concentrations of hyperlipidemic mice, while raising HDL-C concentrations. Alisol acetates lower HMG-CoA reductase activity in a dose-dependent fashion, both in vivo and in vitro. Neither of these alisol acetates significantly lower the protein expression of HMG-CoA. This suggests that alisol acetates lower the TC level via inhibiting the activity of HMG-CoA reductase by its prototype drug, which may exhibit an inhibition effect via directly and competitively binding to HMG-CoA. The side chain of the alisol acetate was the steering group via molecular simulation.

Abstract
Identifying pharmacologically safe lipid-lowering 'deliverables' could potentiate therapeutic outcome for diet-induced atherogenesis. Accordingly, we investigated the potential of molluscan (Katelysia opima) glycosaminoglycan (GAG) in modulating the early lipid changes in atherogenesis. Wistar rats were fed a diet with (n=24) or without (n=6) hypercholesterolemic atherogenic CCT (rat chow supplemented with 4% cholesterol, 1% cholic acid, and 0.5% thiouracil) for 17 days. CCT-fed rates were (i) treated with isolated molluscan GAG (40 mg/kg/day, s.c.) for 10 days after the introduction of CCT diet, (ii) cotreated with GAG (40 mg/kg/day, s.c.) for 17 days, or (iii) treated with heparin (200 units/kg/day, s.c.) for 10 days after the introduction of CCT. The increases induced by CCT diet in the plasma levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein, very-low-density lipoprotein, and low-density lipoprotein were completely attenuated with GAG treatment. Consistently, alterations induced by CCT diet in the levels of plasma lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase and lipoprotein lipase activities were restored to baseline levels with GAG treatment. Coherently, histology revealed a decrease associated with GAG treatment in the CCT-diet-induced foam cells (in aorta), tubular damages (kidney), and lipid accumulations (liver). Together, these results suggest that GAG may exert antiatherogenesis potential by significantly attenuating lipid modulations derived by a high-fat diet. Further, the data imply that the GAG extracts may comprehensively prevent hypercholesterolemia-associated tissue damage and could thus serve as a therapeutic deliverable for hypercholesterolemia.

Abstract
A novel series of 5-fluoro-N-(9,10-dihydro-9,10-dioxoanthracen-8-yl)-1H-indole-2-carboxamides (3c-3g) were synthesized. The present study was undertaken to investigate the possible antihyperlipidemic effect of these novel compounds on hyperlipidemic rats. Hyperlipidemia was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of Triton WR-1339 (300 mg/kg). The tested animals were divided into normal control (NCG), hyperlipidemic control (HCG), compounds 3c-, 3d-, 3e-, 3f-, 3g- and bezafibrate (BF)-treated groups. At a dose of 15 mg/kg, compounds 3c-3g and BF (100 mg/kg) significantly (p < 0.0001) reduced elevated plasma triglycerides levels after 12 and 24 h compared to the hyperlipidemic control group. However, only compounds 3e and 3g obviously showed a significant (p < 0.0001) reduction in plasma total cholesterol levels after 12 and 24 h. Moreover, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were significantly increased in all treated groups. The current study demonstrates that 5-fluoro-N-(9,10-dihydro-9,10-dioxoanthracen-8-yl)-1H-indole-2-carboxamides (3c-3g) have a definite antihyperlipidemic potential and these beneficial activities may contribute to their cardioprotective and antiatherosclerotic role.
