Abstract
A novel method for benzo(α)pyrene (Bαp) enrichment from an oil matrix was developed by using magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@dopamine/graphene oxide, Fe3O4@DA/GO) as extraction absorbents, and the chemical properties of the synthesized nanoparticles were characterized. Various parameters were investigated to optimize the extraction of Bαp from oils. Under optimal conditions (pH, 4; extraction time, 0.5 min; elution solvent, 1 mL; absorbent weight, 20 mg; elution time, 0.5 min), these nanoparticles showed excellent abilities to enrich Bαp from the saponified oil solution and were easily separated by a magnet. High-performance liquid chromatography plus fluorescence detection (HPLC-FLD) was then applied to determine the Bαp content with excellent linearity (R2 = 0.999). The detection limit was 0.13 µg/kg, while the limit of quantification was 0.42 µg/kg. The spiked recoveries of Bαp in oils ranged from 73.5% to 121%. Compared with previous reports, the proposed method displayed many advantages, including a high efficiency of oil matrix removal, short extraction time, and convenient extraction procedure.

Abstract
This paper illustrates the development of a miniaturized and precise analytical tool for biomonitoring of honey bee exposure to insecticides. This is the first work describing an analytical method for determination of very low concentrations of a wide range of insecticides in maize guttation fluid. Seed treatment with systemic insecticides or their foliar application causes the accumulation of compounds in the guttation liquid, which consists of excess water and compounds removed by plants and is a source of water for bees. A micro-QuEChERS protocol using 1 g of sample was used for analysis of over 140 insecticides belonging to 30 different chemical classes by LC-ESI-MS/MS. The determination of insecticides in guttation fluid is a difficult analytical task due to 1) the complexity of the sample matrix, 2) small amounts of test samples and 3) trace levels of analytes (often equal sublethal dose of insecticide for bees). An efficient sample treatment is proposed, involving 1 g of sample, extraction with 1% formic acid in acetonitrile, frozen, ultrasound-assisted, centrifugation and dispersive solid phase extraction with nano graphene oxide. Other tested sorbents: Fe3O4MNPs and two mixtures PSA/C18/GCB and Z-Sep did not give satisfactory parameters during sample purification. The graphene oxide proved to be the best, ensuring negligible matrix effects and analyte recoveries between 70% and 120% with relative standard deviations <20% for most of the compounds studied. The proposed method enables assessment of risk to honey bees resulting from exposure to guttation fluids containing toxic insecticides at very low concentrations.

Abstract
Natural product analysis has gained wide attention in recent years, especially for herbal medicines, which contain complex ingredients and play a significant clinical role in the therapy of numerous diseases. The constituents of natural products are usually found at low concentrations, and the matrices are complex. Thus, the extraction of target compounds from natural products before analysis by analytical instruments is very significant for human health and its wide application. The commonly used traditional extraction methods are time-consuming, using large amounts of sample and organic solvents, as well as expensive and inefficient. Recently, microextraction techniques have been used for natural product extraction to overcome the disadvantages of conventional extraction methods. In this paper, the successful applications of and recent developments in microextraction techniques including solvent-based and sorbent-based microextraction methods, in natural product analysis in recent years, especially in the last 5 years, are reviewed for the first time. Their features, advantages, disadvantages, and future development trends are also discussed.

Abstract
In the present research, a procedure was described for the recovery of rosmarinic acid (RA) from medical extract samples using chitosan‑zinc oxide nanoparticles as a biocompatible nanocomposite (CS-ZnO-NC). The dispersive micro-solid phase extraction (D-μ-SPE) of RA from the medical extract samples was investigated by using the prepared biocompatible composite as a solid phase. The HPLC-UV method was used for measuring the extracted RA. The important variables (pH, biocompatible composite mass, contact time, and volume of eluent) associated with the extraction process were analyzed by the application of central composite design (CCD). The achieved optimum values for the mentioned variables were 7.0, 10 mg, 4 min, and 180 μL, respectively. The extraction recovery (99.68%) obtained from the predicted model was in agreement with the experimental data (98.22 ± 1.33%). In addition, under the obtained optimum conditions and over the concentration in the range of 2-3500 ng mL-1, a linear calibration curve was obtained with R2 > 0.993. The limit of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) values were computed, and the obtained ranges were respectively from 0.060 to 0.089 ng mL-1 and 0.201 to 0.297 ng mL-1. In addition, the enrichment factors were obtained in the range of 93.7-110.5 with preconcentration factor of 83.3. Therefore, the D-μ-SPE-HPLC-UV method could be used for analyzing RA in the samples of the extracts obtained from the medical plants and water with the recovery values of the analyte in the range of 96.6%-105.4% and the precision with relative standard deviation <5.7%.

Abstract
A simple method for the determination of phenolic acids in Chinese Wolfberry drink based on polyethyleneimine modified porous aromatic framework and graphene oxide composite sorbent for pipette-tip solid-phase extraction was developed. Porous aromatic framework and raphene oxide composite materials were grafted by silane coupling agent (3-Chloropropyl)-trimethoxysilane. The modified materials were characterized by five kinds of characterization. Experimental results showed that the prepared p-phenylenediamine, cyanuric chloride, and graphene oxide composite material had a loose structure combined with the framework which improved hydrophobicity, and polyethyleneimine to increase the selectivity with the targets. The parameters of the pipette-tip solid-phase extraction procedure including the amount of sorbents, volumes and types of washing solvents and elution solvents were optimized to achieve optimal extraction efficiency. Good linearity of best material was achieved in the range of 0.1-400 µg/mL with correlation coefficient of chlorogenic acid (0.9994), caffeic acid (0.9997), and ferulic acid (0.9998). Recoveries between 93.5 and 102.3% were obtained at three spiked levels with relative standard deviation ≤3.1%. The proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of phenolic acids in Chinese Wolfberry drink sample.

Abstract
A wormhole-like mesostructured silica was synthesized and modified with octadecylsilane (C18) groups. The resulting hybrid material (HMS-C18) was characterized and evaluated as sorbent for simultaneous extraction of 20 polyphenols from mixed fruit-vegetable juices and smoothies by dispersive solid-phase extraction (dSPE). The samples were first subjected to solvent extraction followed by dSPE procedure. The extraction step was optimized and combined with a reversed-phase ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography method coupled to ion-trap tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-IT-MS/MS), which was also optimized. HMS-C18 showed high potential to extract and purify the target analytes, being more effective than commercial C18 amorphous silica. The proposed method was validated for both samples, obtaining average recoveries from 57% to 99% with relative standard deviations lower than 9%. Its applicability in the analysis of commercial mixed fruit-vegetable juices and smoothies revealed mainly contents of rutin, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, chlorogenic acid, epicatechin, caffeic acid, and naringin in the samples analyzed.

Abstract
Thrombin was immobilized on dynabeads®M-270 epoxy by direct covalent binding method for the first time. The enzyme coated magnetic beads were combined with ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry technique to establish a simple, rapid and reliable approach for screening thrombin inhibitors from Danshen preparation. The conjugation of thrombin to the magnetic beads was characterized using scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope and infrared spectroscopy, and the enzyme activity was determined by the analysis of enzyme-bead ratio and peak areas of target compounds. Several factors including amount of magnetic beads, type of elution solvent, incubation temperature and time were optimized. Additionally, two thrombin-bound compounds (protocatechuic aldehyde and salvianolic acid C) in Danshen injection were validated by conventional inhibitory assay and the IC50 values were 286.11 and 66.09μg/mL, respectively. Our findings suggested that the proposed method was efficient in screening active compounds from medicinal plants.
