Abstract
Metabolomics aims to profile the extensive array of metabolites that exists in different types of matrices using modern analytical techniques. These techniques help to separate, identify, and quantify the plethora of chemical compounds at various analytical platforms. Hence, ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) has emerged as an advanced analytical approach, exclusively owing to the 3D separation of metabolites and their isomers. Furthermore, separated metabolites are identified based on their mass fragmentation pattern and CCS (collision cross-section) values. The IMS provides an advanced alternative dimension to separate the isomeric metabolites with enhanced throughput with lesser chemical noise. Thus, the present review highlights the types, factors affecting the resolution, and applications of IMMS (Ion mobility mass spectrometry) for isomeric separations, and ionic contaminants in the plant samples. Furthermore, an overview of IMS-based applications for the identification of plant metabolites (volatile and non-volatile) over the last few decades has been discussed, followed by future assumptions for creating IM-based databases. Such approaches could be significant to accelerate and improve our knowledge of the vast chemical diversity found in plants.

Abstract
Organophosphorus pesticides were easily remained in fruits and vegetables which would be harm to the environmental safety and human health. In recent years, due to the simple preparation process, fast response and high sensitivity, the electrochemical (bio)sensors have received increasing attention, which were extensively used as the sensing platform for the detection of OPPs. The mechanisms for the determination of OPPs mainly included redox of nitrophenyl OPPs, enzyme hydrolysis and inhibition, immunosensor, aptasensor. Nowadays, the mainly explored electrode material has focused on metal-organic frameworks, metal and metal derivatives, carbon materials (carbon nanotube, graphene, g-C3N4), MXene, etc. These nanomaterials played important roles in the electrochemical (bio)sensors, which included: (a) as an electrocatalyst to promote the redox reaction, (b) as a carrier to load the enzyme or aptamer, (c) as a recognizer to identify the targets. The nanomaterials-based electrochemical (bio)sensor was a rapid, cost-effective methods to detect OPPs with high sensitivity. Besides, this review compared the analytical performance of different nanomaterials-based electrochemical (bio)sensors, and also identified the key challenges in the future. It would provide new ideas and insights to the further development and application of electrochemical (bio)sensors and the detection of pesticides in real samples.

Abstract
AbstractHeadspace-gas-chromatography ion-mobility spectrometry (HS-GC-IMS) proved the diversity of volatile chlorinated compounds (VCCs) in frying oil in this work. First, the VCCs were obtained by headspace by heating the frying oil at 80 °C for 30 min. Then, those compounds were separated by GC capillary column in the first dimension and by IMS in the second dimension, respectively. And at last, those compounds were detected in negative ion mode for non-targeting. The study results indicated that VCCs' formation depends on the contents of NaCl and water, heating temperature and time, and the types of oil. The refining process does not affect the detection of VCCs, indicating the durability of such targets as indicators for assessing deep-frying oil. Using HS-GC-IMS, the VCCs were detected to evaluate 16 authentic refined deep-frying oils from the market with an accuracy of 100%.

Abstract
Due to the continuous development and progress of society and more and more attention to the quality and safety of food, rapid testing of pesticides in food is of great significance. In this paper, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and chemometric algorithms were employed collectively to quantify chlorpyrifos (CP) residues in rice samples. The SERS spectra from different concentrations (0.01-1000 μg/mL) of CP were collected using AgNPs-deposited-ZnO nanoflower (NFs)-like nanoparticles (Ag@ZnO NFs) SERS sensor. Four quantitative chemometric models for CP were comparatively studied, and the competitive adaptive reweighted sampling-partial least squares model achieved the best prediction and practical applicability for predicting CP levels with a limit of detection of 0.01 µg/mL. The results of the student's t-test showed no significant difference between this method and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and good relative standard deviation (RSD) indicated that this method could be used for the detection of CP in rice.

Abstract
A mesh screen was electrochemically coated with polypyrrole and used as a sorptive extractor device, for the first time. This configuration acts in such a way that it is self-rotating in the presence of a magnetic force and can be used for extraction and concentration of analytes. Actually, applying a mesh screen instead of a bar or plate in sorptive extraction provided a more effective contact area between the sorptive materials and sample solution, resulting in higher sorption efficiency. The device performance was assessed by using chlorpyrifos pesticide as a model analyte. A thermal desorption unit was coupled to an ion mobility spectrometer and applied for evaporating the extracted analyte. Different parameters affecting the extraction efficiency during the electro-polymerization and the extraction process, including the time of electrodeposition, the concentration of pyrrole, oxalic acid and salt, temperature and time of extraction, and the stirring rate of the extractor device were investigated and optimized, simultaneously. The detection and quantification limits of the method were calculated to be 0.035 and 0.1 μg L-1, respectively. The linear dynamic range obtained was from 0.1 to 20 μg L-1, with a determination coefficient of 0.9984. The intra-day and inter-day-relative standard deviations (RSD, n = 3) were lower than 3% and 8%, respectively. Under the optimal conditions, the absolute recovery and the enrichment factor were found to be 97% and 5820, respectively. Finally, the relative recoveries of the proposed method were calculated to be in the range of 86-111% for spiked water, wastewater, and apple samples. The results obtained from the method were validated by EPA method 622.

Abstract
Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) is an analytical separation and diagnostic technique that is simple and sensitive and a rapid response and low-priced technique for detecting trace levels of chemical compounds in different matrices. Chemical agents and environmental contaminants are successfully detected by IMS and have been recently considered to employ in food safety. In addition, IMS uses stand-alone or coupled analytical diagnostic tools with chromatographic and spectroscopic methods. Scientific publications show that IMS has been applied 21% in the pharmaceutical industry, 9% in environmental studies and 13% in quality control and food safety. Nevertheless, applications of IMS in food safety and quality analysis have not been adequately explored. This review presents the IMS-related analysis and focuses on the application of IMS in food safety and quality. This review presents the important topics including detection of traces of chemicals, rate of food spoilage and freshness, food adulteration and authenticity as well as natural toxins, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, veterinary, and growth promoter drug residues. Further, persistent organic pollutants (POPs), acrylamide, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH), biogenic amines, nitrosamine, furfural, phenolic compounds, heavy metals, food packaging materials, melamine, and food additives were also examined for the first time. Therefore, it is logical to predict that the application of the IMS technique in food safety, food quality, and contaminant analysis will be impressively increased in the future.
