Abstract
The simultaneous preconcentration and determination of Pb(II) and Cu(II) was afforded by a Syringe Solid Phase Extraction (SSPE) technique, which was developed and described for the first time, exploiting the alginate/carbon/PVA (ACP) sorbent as a support material. Imperative experimental factors were appraised in detail: pH 5.0 for Pb(II) and 4.0 for Cu(II), 75 mg of ACP mass, 4 sample cycles, 9 eluent cycles for Pb(II), 8 eluent cycles for Cu(II), and 1 mol L-1 of HNO3 as the eluent were found to be the optimal conditions for the devised procedure. The preconcentration factors were found to be 100 for both Pb(II) and Cu(II). These optimal conditions closely align with those obtained from the Box-Behnken Design (BBD) optimization. The results confirmed that ACP as the adsorbent could be reused up to 8 times. The LOD values calculated for Pb(II) and Cu(II) were 9.34 and 7.17 μg L-1, respectively. The calculated RSDs were less than 3.3%. The validated recoveries by ERM-BD151 (standard reference sample) were acquired at 97.6% for Pb(II) and 98.9% for Cu(II). The approach designed for the preconcentration of analytes in liquid milk samples proved successful.

Abstract
This study describes the sustainable and eco-friendly synthesis of the silica-based mesoporous structure from the use of alternative amorphous silica extracted from rice husk ash (RHA). The mesoporous material was called MCM-48 (RHA), and its application as adsorbent to the antimony (Sb) remediation in environmental samples was tested. The adsorbent was prepared by an efficient and sustainable hydrothermal method, which exhibited an amorphous framework with type IV isotherms and type H1 hysteresis, and surface area, total pore volume, and pore diameter values of 820.9 m2 g-1, 0.6 cm3 g-1, and 3.7 nm, respectively. In addition, the MCM-48 (RHA) exhibited a three-dimensional cubic mesostructure (Ia3d space-group symmetry) with a narrow mesopore distribution, uniform spherical particles, and well-defined architecture. Multivariate optimization using a factorial design (24) was employed in the adsorption tests of Sb. The variables evaluated and the optimum conditions obtained were (i) adsorbent mass (45 mg); (ii) adsorption time (115 min); (iii) pH 2; and (iv) Sb initial concentration of 8 mol L-1. In these conditions, we found a maximum adsorption efficiency of Sb in the order of 95%. The adsorbent material proposed in this study proved to be efficient for Sb remediation in water samples under different experimental conditions. A total of five samples were analyzed and Sb concentrations on the order of 8 ppm were added, in which a removal efficiency of Sb raging between 88 and 96% was obtained for the remediation in real samples. In addition, the low cost of the synthesis of MCM-48 (RHA) in combination with its high and fast adsorption capacities offers a great promise for wastewater remediation, which makes it very attractive for environmental approaches.

Abstract
To investigate the effect of welsh onion on taste components and sensory characteristics in porcine bone soup, the stewing condition was as follows: the material–liquid ratio (m/V) was 1:1, the stewing time was 5.0 h, and the ratio of welsh onion was 2.5%. Then, the content of taste components was measured. The content of free amino acids in porcine bone soup with welsh onion (PWS) was higher than the sum of welsh onion soup (WS) and porcine bone soup (PS); particularly, the umami amino acids increased by 35.73% compared with PS. Significant increases in four organic acids (lactic acid, pyroglutamic acid, citric acid and ascorbic acid), two 5′-nucleotides (5′-AMP and 5′-GMP) and three mineral elements (K, Ca and Mg) were observed in PWS. Compared with PS, the equivalent umami concentration (EUC) value was increased from 79.09 to 106.47 mg MSG/100 g in PWS, which was due to the high content of umami amino acids and the synergistic effect with 5′-nucleotides. The results of the sensory analysis indicated a certain enhancement of umami taste in PWS, and the sweet and salty tastes were also increased with the addition of welsh onion. The correlation analysis was consistent with the variation of the components tested above.

Abstract
Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have been widely used in nanomedicine in the last few years. However, their potential is limited by their intrinsic properties resulting, for instance, in lack of control in drug release processes or complex detection for in vivo imaging. Recent attempts in creating hybrid nanomaterials combining MIPs with inorganic nanomaterials succeeded in providing a wide range of new interesting properties suitable for nanomedicine. Through this review, we aim to illustrate how hybrid molecularly imprinted polymers may improve patient care with enhanced imaging, treatments, and a combination of both.

Abstract
The demand for fish and seafood is growing worldwide. Meanwhile, problems related to the integrity and safety of the fishery sector are increasing, leading legislators, producers, and consumers to search for ways to effectively protect themselves from fraud and health hazards related to fish consumption. What is urgently required now is the availability of reliable, truthful, and reproducible methods assuring the correspondence between the real nature of the product and label declarations accompanying the same product during its market life. The evaluation of the inorganic composition of fish and seafood appears to be one of the most promising strategies to be exploited in the near future to assist routine and official monitoring operations along the supply chain. The present review article focuses on exploring the latest scientific achievements of using the multi-elemental composition of fish and seafood as an imprint of their authenticity and traceability, especially with regards to the geographical origin. The scientific literature of the last 10 years focusing on the analytical determination and statistical elaboration of elemental data (alone or in combination with methodologies targeting other compounds) to verify the identity of fishery products is summarized and discussed.
