Abstract
Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) has gained attention as a simple, fast, and non-exhaustive extraction technique, as its unique features enable its use for the extraction of many classes of drugs from biological matrices. This sample-preparation approach consolidates sampling and sample preparation into a single step, in addition to providing analyte preconcentration and sample clean-up. These features have helped SPME become an integral part of several analytical protocols for monitoring drug concentrations in human matrices in clinical, toxicological, and forensic medicine studies. Over the years, researchers have continued to develop the SPME technique, resulting in the introduction of novel sorbents and geometries, which have resulted in improved extraction efficiencies. This review summarizes developments and applications of SPME published between 2016 and 2022, specifically in relation to the analysis of central nervous system drugs, drugs used to treat cardiovascular disorders and bacterial infections, and drugs used in immunosuppressive and anticancer therapies.

Abstract
Novel core-shell magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs) were synthesized using the sol-gel method for the adsorption of cefixime (CFX). Fe3O4@SiO2 is the core, and molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are the shell, which can selectively interact with CFX. The preparation conditions, adsorption kinetics, adsorption isotherms, selective adsorption ability, and reutilization performance of the MMIPs were investigated. The adsorption capacity of MMIPs for CFX was 111.38 mg/g, which was about 3.5 times that of MNIPs. The adsorption equilibrium time was 180 min. The dynamic adsorption experiments showed that the adsorption process of MMIPs to CFX conformed to the pseudo-second-order model. Through static adsorption study, the Scatchard analysis showed that MMIPs had two types of binding sites-the high-affinity binding sites and the low-affinity binding sites-while the Langmuir model fit the adsorption isotherms well (R2 = 0.9962). Cefepime and ceftiofur were selected as the structural analogs of CFX for selective adsorption studies; the adsorption of CFX by MMIPs was higher than that of other structural analogs; and the imprinting factors of CFX, cefepime, and ceftiofur were 3.5, 1.7, and 1.4, respectively. Furthermore, the MMIPs also showed excellent reusable performance.

Abstract
Herein, we developed a highly sensitive imprinted electrochemical sensor for the trace detection of ribavirin (RBV) using pyrrole (PYR) and pyrro-1-propionyl-alaninoyl-chitooligosaccharides (PPACO) as bifunctional monomers on Prussian blue-gold nanocomposite films. PPACO had strong molecular effect on RBV molecule and was selected by quantitative calculations. After the deposition of the Prussian blue-gold nanocomposite on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface, a 4-aminothiophenol layer successfully self-assembled on the surface. Subsequently, the molecularly imprinted membrane (MIM) was subjected to electrochemical polymerization on the electrode surface using RBV as the template and PPACO and PYR as the two monomers. After eluting the RBV molecules from the MIM, the fabricated RBV-MIM/Fn-Au-PB/GCE exhibited the specific adsorption of RBV. Under optimal conditions, differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) was used to measure the performance of the synthesized sensor, which exhibited a linear relationship between the decreasing peak current and RBV concentration from 0.015 to 3.5 μM with a low detection limit of 3 nM (S/N = 3). As a proof of concept, RBV-MIM/Fn-Au-PB/GCE was also applied to monitor the RBV content in RBV granules. It showed a satisfactory recovery (96.5-99.2%) with a relative standard deviation of less than 3.5% (n = 5), and thus, we believe it has potential for practical applications.

Abstract
A nanocomposite of molecularly imprinted polypyrrole on copper oxide (MIP@CuO) was introduced as a new coating for in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME). The method coupled with HPLC-UV was successfully applied for analysis of carbamazepine (anticonvulsant and bipolar disorder medication) in biological samples. First, in order to increase the surface area and stability of the coating, copper oxide (CuO) nanosheets were synthesized on the inner surface of a copper tube using a chemical method. Then, molecularly imprinted polypyrrole coating (using carbamazepine as a template) was deposited on CuO by a facile in-situ electrodeposition method. According to the results, The MIP@CuO coating shows long life time, enhanced extraction efficiency, and good clean-up, for pre-concentration and determination of carbamazepine in biological samples. The synthesized adsorbent also showed high selectivity to carbamazepine compared to other drugs with similar structure. Important factors affecting the extraction efficiency of the analyte in the in-tube SPME method, such as salt concentration, extraction and desorption times, flowrates of the sample solution, and eluent, were optimized. Under optimal conditions, the method showed good linearity for carbamazepine in the range of 0.05-500 μg L-1, 0.10-500 μg L-1, and 0.10-500 μg L-1 in water, urine, and plasma samples, respectively, with coefficients of determination better than 0.996. The limits of detection were in the range of 0.01-0.05 μg L-1 in different matrices. The intra- and inter-assay precisions (RSD%, n = 3) were in the range of 6.7-8.1 % and 7.1-9.5 %, respectively.

Abstract
The in-situ synthesis and application of nanocubic Co3O4-coated graphene oxide (Co3O4@ GO) was introduced for the first time to present a cost-effective, stable and convenient operation and a simple device for hollow fiber solid-phase microextraction (HF-SPME) of four selected nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) including diclofenac, mefenamic acid, ibuprofen and indomethacin. The extracted analytes were desorbed by an appropriate organic solvent and analyzed via high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection (HPLC-UV). The prepared sorbent was approved using different characterization methods such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The variables effective on the Co3O4@GO-HF-SPME method including extraction time, desorption time, desorption solvent volume, sample pH, stirring rate and ionic strength were screened via Plackett-Burman design and then optimized by Box-Behnken design. Under optimal condition, the calibration curves were linear within the range of 1.0-200.0 µg L-1 of analyte concentration with detection limits of 0.18-1.1 µg L-1 and the relative standard deviations less than 10.1%. The limits of quantification (LOQs) were in the range of 0.60-3.67 µg L-1. Matrix effect was not observed with this method; therefore, standard addition is not necessary for quantification of target compounds. The enrichment factors were obtained in the range of 49-68. The relative recoveries of the urine sample analysis were calculated in the range of 93-102%. Finally, the presented method exhibited good sensitivity, excellent repeatability, high reusability and acceptable precision, which will be a promising method to analyze various nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in urine samples.

Abstract
Molecular imprinting-based solid-phase extraction has been in the spotlight to improve recognition selectivity and detection sensitivity of andrographolides. The synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers on micro centrifuge tube filters for the extraction and the determination of andrographolides were investigated. Molecularly imprinted polymers were synthesized using the photo-polymerization method for the preconcentration of andrographolides (AD) template molecule using 2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenylacetophenone as initiators, the mixture of 1-dodecanol and toluene solvent, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as functional monomers and cross-linked, respectively. The resultant AD molecularly imprinted polymers (AD-MIPs) were characterized using the Fourier-transform infrared spectrum and scanning electron microscopy. The maximum adsorption of AD-MIPs toward the andrographolides was found to be 85%, and could reach binding equilibrium within 60 min. The sample solution was separated by AD-MIP using solid-phase extraction (SPE). Subsequently, the sample solution was analyzed by the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. The AD-MIP could be successfully applied to specifically separate and determine the andrographolides from pharmaceutical products and biological fluid samples with relatively high recoveries (102.01-108.61%). The present method is simple, selective, accurate, and provides a promising alternative to traditional SPE sorbents for the extraction and determination of andrographolides in real samples and biological fluid samples.

Abstract
Effective and practical materials are important for the pollution control in the environment. A novel magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (CoFe2O4@TiO2-MMIP) was prepared based on the surface molecular imprinting technology combined with photocatalytic degradation and magnetic separation. The adsorption rate constant and maximum adsorption capacity of CoFe2O4@TiO2-MMIP are 0.21 g mg-1 min-1 and 14.26 mg g-1, respectively. The effects of experimental factors on the adsorption properties of the magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer were investigated. CoFe2O4@TiO2-MMIP had selective adsorption ability towards fluoroquinolones. The adsorption efficiency was closely related to the molecular structure, molecular weight, polarity and functional groups of the target contaminant and the removal efficiency of norfloxacin was affected by another substance obviously in binary adsorption system. The adsorption-photocatalytic recycling experiment verified that CoFe2O4@TiO2-MMIP could simultaneously complete the degradation of pollutants and in-situ regeneration, indicating good reusability. This material with selective adsorption and photocatalytic regeneration would have substantial attraction for application in the removal of fluoroquinolones.

Abstract
In-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) was developed about 24 years ago as an effective sample preparation technique using an open tubular capillary column as an extraction device. IT-SPME is useful for micro-concentration, automated sample cleanup, and rapid online analysis, and can be used to determine the analytes in complex matrices simple sample processing methods such as direct sample injection or filtration. IT-SPME is usually performed in combination with high-performance liquid chromatography using an online column switching technology, in which the entire process from sample preparation to separation to data analysis is automated using the autosampler. Furthermore, IT-SPME minimizes the use of harmful organic solvents and is simple and labor-saving, making it a sustainable and environmentally friendly green analytical technique. Various operating systems and new sorbent materials have been developed to improve its extraction efficiency by, for example, enhancing its sorption capacity and selectivity. In addition, IT-SPME methods have been widely applied in environmental analysis, food analysis and bioanalysis. This review describes the present state of IT-SPME technology and summarizes its current trends and future perspectives, including method development and strategies to improve extraction efficiency.

Abstract
To promote the development of molecular imprinting technique in the separation and analysis of protein, novel bovine serum albumin (BSA) surface imprinted nitrogen-doped magnetic carbon nanotubes (N-MCNTs@MIPs) are developed by this paper. The imprinted materials are prepared by depositing polydopamine (PDA) on the surface of nitrogen-doped magnetic carbon nanotubes (N-MCNTs). N-MCNTs prepared by high temperature pyrolysis and chemical vapor deposition exhibit high specific surface area, positive hydrophilicity, abundant nitrogen functional groups and excellent magnetic properties. These characteristics are conducive to the increase of effective binding sites, the smooth development of the protein imprinting process in the aqueous phase, the improvement of the binding capacity and the simplification of the separation process. The amount of BSA adsorbing on the N-MCNTs@MIPs can reach 150.86 mg/g within 90 min. The imprinting factor (IF) is 1.43. The results of competitive adsorption and separation of fetal bovine serum showed that N-MCNTs@MIPs can specifically recognize BSA. The excellent reusability and separation ability for real sample prove that N-MCNTs@MIPs have the potential to be applied to the separation and purification of proteins in complex biological samples.

Abstract
This research is an application of fiber-in-tube solid-phase microextraction followed by high-performance liquid chromatography with UV detection for the extraction and determination of trace amounts of bisphenol A. Nanomagnetic Fe3 O4 was formed on the surface of polypropylene porous hollow fibers to increase the surface area and then it was coated with polystyrene. The introduction of polystyrene improves the surface hydrophobicity and is an appropriate extractive phase because it is highly stable in aquatic media. The extraction was carried out in a short capillary packed longitudinally with the fine fibers as the extraction medium. Extraction conditions, including extraction and desorption flow rates, extraction time, pH, and ionic strength of the sample solution, were investigated and optimized. Under optimal conditions, the limit of detection was 0.01 µg/L. This method showed good linearity for bisphenol A in the range of 0.033-1000 µg/L, with the coefficient of determination of 0.9984. The inter- and intraday precisions (RSD%, n = 3) were 7.9 and 6.3%, respectively. Finally, the method was applied to analysis of the analyte in thermal papers, disposable plastic cups, and soft drink bottles.

Abstract
Congo red (CR) is an anionic azo dye widely used in many industries including pharmaceutical, textile, food and paint industries. The disposal of huge amount of CR into the various streams of water has posed a great threat to both human and aquatic life. Therefore, it has become an important aspect of industries to remove CR from different water sources. Molecular imprinting technology is a very slective method to remove various target pollutant from environment. In this study a precipitation polymerization was employed for the effective and selective removal of CR from contaminated aqueous media. A series of congo red molecularly imprinted polymers (CR-MIPs) of uniform size and shape was developed by changing the mole ratio of the components. The optimum ratio (0.1:4: 20, template, functional monomer and cross-linking monomer respectively) for CR1-MIP from synthesized polymers was able to rebind about 99.63% of CR at the optimum conditions of adsorption parameters (contact time 210 min, polymer dosage 0.5 g, concentration 20 ppm and pH 7). The synthesized polymers were characterized by various techniques such as Fourier Infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and Brumauer-Emmett-Teller (BET). The polymer particles have successfully removed CR from different aqueous media with an efficiency of about ~ 90%.

Abstract
A nanocomposite optosensor consisting of carboxylic acid functionalized multiwall carbon nanotubes and CdTe quantum dots embedded inside a molecularly imprinted polymer (COOH@MWCNT-MIP-QDs) was developed for trace ciprofloxacin detection. The COOH@MWCNT-MIP-QDs were synthesized through a facile sol-gel process using ciprofloxacin as a template molecule, 3-aminopropylethoxysilane as a functional monomer and tetraethoxysilane as a cross-linker at a molar ratio of 1:8:20. The synthesized nanocomposite optosensor had high sensitivity, excellent specificity and high binding affinity to ciprofloxacin. Under optimal conditions, the fluorescence intensity of the optosensor decreased in a linear fashion with the concentration of ciprofloxacin and two linear dynamic ranges were obtained, 0.10-1.0 μg L-1 and 1.0-100.0 μg L-1 with a very low limit of detection of 0.066 μg L-1. The imprinting factors of the two linear range were 17.67 and 4.28, respectively. The developed nanocomposite fluorescence probe was applied towards the determination of ciprofloxacin levels in chicken muscle and milk samples with satisfactory recoveries being obtained in the range of 82.6 to 98.4%. The results were also in good agreement with a HPLC method which indicates that the optosensor can be used as a sensitive, selective and rapid method to detect ciprofloxacin in chicken and milk samples.

Abstract
Contaminants of Emerging Concerns (CECs) have been introduced as one type of recalcitrant pollutant sources in water. In this study, the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug diclofenac (DCF) has been removed from water solutions using Molecularly Imprinted Polymer (MIP), synthetized via bulk polymerization with allylthiourea (AT) as the functional monomer and using DCF as template (MIP-DCF). DCF detection has been performed by UV spectrophotometer. From the kinetic study in batch mode, approximately 100% of removal is observed by using 10mg of MIP-DCF, with an initial concentration of 5mg/L of DCF at pH7, within 3min and agitated at 25°C. In continuous flow mode study, using a cartridge pre-packed with 10mg of MIP-DCF, a high adsorption capacity of 160mgDCF/g MIP was obtained. To study the porosity of MIPs, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) has been used. In order to characterize the chemical interaction between monomer and template, the pre-polymerization mixture for MIP and DCF has also been studied by 1H NMR. One of the chemical shift observed has been related to the formation of a complex between amine protons of thiourea group of AT with carboxylic acid on DCF. In conclusion, the developed MIP works as a good adsorbent for DCF removal, and is selective to DCF in the presence of indomethacin and ibuprofen.

Abstract
In this study a novel "yarn-in-tube" configuration was introduced by packing cotton yarn inside stainless steel cartridge named packed yarn-in-tube solid phase extraction (yarn-IT-SPE) followed by high performance liquid chromatography. For the first time, cotton yarns were coated with a new polypyrrole@copper-chromium-iron ternary layered double hydroxide nanocomposite (Yarn@PPy@Cu-Cr-Fe LDH). The yarn@PPy@Cu-Cr-Fe LDH sorbent exhibited flexible substrate, high porosity, a three-dimensional, high sorbent loading, long lifetime, good mechanical stability, high anion-exchange capacity and large specific surface area as a result it is a good choice for the separation and preconcentration of acidic cholorophenols in honey samples. Several important factors affecting extraction efficiency such as extraction and desorption times, pH of solution and flow rates of the sample solution and eluent were investigated and optimized. Under the optimal conditions, the limits of detection were in the range of 0.05-0.07 μg L-1. This method showed good linearity for chlorophenols in the range of 0.10-500 μg L-1, with coefficients of determination better than 0.9989. The inter- and intra-assay precisions (RSD%, n = 5) were in the range of 3.2-4.9% and 2.1-3.6% at three concentration levels of 2, 10 and 20 μg L-1, respectively. The validated method was successfully applied for analysis of 4-chloro-, 2,4-dichloro-, and 2,4,6-trichloro phenols in honey samples.

Abstract
A high selective pre-treatment method for the cleanup and preconcentration of ciprofloxacin in natural seawater samples was developed based on molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE). The ciprofloxacin imprinted polymers were synthesized and the characteristics of obtained polymers were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and binding experiments. The imprinted materials showed high adsorption ability for ciprofloxacin and were applied as special solid-phase extraction sorbents for selective separation of ciprofloxacin. An off-line MISPE procedure was optimized and the developed MISPE method allowed direct purification and enrichment of the ciprofloxacin from the aqueous samples prior to high-performance liquid chromatography analysis. The recoveries of spiked seawater on the MISPE cartridges ranged from 75.2 to 112.4% and the relative standard deviations were less than 4.46%. Five seawater samples from Jiaozhou Bay were analyzed and ciprofloxacin was detected in two samples with the concentrations of 0.24 and 0.38μgL(-1), respectively.
