Abstract
In this study, the interaction of triazine herbicides with three kinds of different alkyl groups (simetryne, ametryn and terbutryn) with human serum albumin (HSA) are investigated through UV-vis, fluorescence, and circular dichroism (CD) spectra. The mechanisms on the fluorescence quenching of HSA initiated by triazine herbicides are obtained using Stern-Volmer, Lineweaver-Burk and Double logarithm equations. The quenching rate constant (Kq), Stern-Volmer quenching constant (Ksv), binding constant (KA), thermodynamic parameters such as enthalpy change (∆H), entropy change (∆S) and Gibbs free energy (∆G) and number of binding site (n) are calculated and compared. The variations in the microenvironment of amino acid residues are studied by synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy. The binding sites and subdomains are identified using warfarin and ibuprofen as site probes. The conformational changes of HSA are measured using CD spectra. The results reveal that the triazine herbicides with different alkyl groups can interact with HSA by static quenching. The combination of the three herbicides and HSA are equally proportional, and the binding processes are spontaneous. Hydrophobic interaction forces play important roles in simetryne-HSA and ametryn-HSA, while the interaction of terbutryn-HSA is Van der Waals forces and hydrogen bonding. Moreover, the three herbicides can bind to HSA at site I (sub-domain IIA) more than site II (subdomain IIIA), and combine with tryptophan (Trp) more easily than tyrosine (Tyr) residues, respectively. By comparison, the order of interaction strength is terbutryn-HSA > ametryn-HSA > simetryne-HSA. Terbutryn can destroy the secondary structure of HSA more than simetryne and ametryn, and the potential toxicity of terbutryn is higher. It is expected that the interactions of triazine herbicides with HSA via multi-spectral analysis can offer some valuable information for studying the toxicity and the harm of triazine herbicides on human health at molecular level in life science.

Abstract
Field selective extraction is crucial for accurate monitoring of triazine herbicides (TAHs) in aqueous samples. For this purpose, using atrazine as template and 3-acrylamido phenylboronic acid as functional monomer which was quickly screened with calculation simulation technology, a new molecularly imprinted monolith-based adsorbent (MBA) was fabricated and utilized as the extraction phase of laboratory-made multichannel in-tip microextraction device (MIMD). A series of techniques were adopted to characterize the physical and chemical properties of the synthesized MBA. Under the optimized preparation conditions, the recognition factor and capture capacity of MBA towards atrazine were as high as 2.9 and 23.4 mg/g, respectively, and the enrichment factors towards TAHs located in the range of 276-359. The study about adsorption isotherm evidenced the adsorption of MBA towards atrazine was fit for Freundlich adsorption model. Under the beneficial extraction parameters, the introduced MBA/MIMD was utilized to on-site extract TAHs in a variety of aqueous samples prior to HPLC determination. High sensitivity (limit of detection: 0.25-0.64 ng/L), good precision (relative standard deviation: 1.4-9.5%) and satisfying recovery (81.0-113%) were achieved. Accuracy and reliability of the introduced method were inspected through confirmation experiments. Owing to the good results and outstanding merits, the established MBA/MIMD technique is appropriate for field sample preparation of TAHs and the developed method can be utilized to monitor TAHs residuals in various aqueous samples.

Abstract
In this study, monodisperse magnetic carbon microspheres were successfully synthesized through the carbonization of phenolic resin encapsulated Fe3 O4 core-shell structures. The magnetic carbon microspheres showed high performance in ultrafast extraction and separation of trace triazine herbicides from environmental water samples. Under optimized conditions, both the adsorption and desorption processes could be achieved in 2 min, and the maximum adsorption capacity for simazine and prometryn were 387.6 and 448.5 μg/g. Coupled with HPLC-UV detection technology, the detection limit of triazine herbicides was in the range of 0.30-0.41 ng/mL. The mean recoveries ranged from 81.44 to 91.03% with relative standard deviations lower than 7.47%. The excellent magnetic solid phase extraction performance indicates that magnetic carbon microspheres are promising candidate adsorbent for the fast analysis of environmental contaminants. Abstract
A simple, accurate, and highly sensitive analytical method was developed in this study for the determination of ten β-agonists and five β-blockers in milk. In this method, new adsorbent phosphonic acid-functionalized porous organic polymers were synthesized through a direct knitting method. The synthesis procedure of the materials and the extraction conditions (such as the composition of loading buffer and eluent) were optimized. Benefitting from the high surface area (545–804 m2 g−1), multiple functional framework and good porosity, the phosphonic acid-functionalized porous organic polymers showed a high adsorption rate and high adsorption capacity for β-agonists (224 mg g−1 and 171 mg g−1 for clenbuterol and ractopamine, respectively). The analytes were quantified by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry. It showed a good linearity (with R2 ranging from 0.9950 to 0.9991 in the linear range of 3–5 orders of magnitude), with low limits of quantification ranging from 0.05 to 0.25 ng g−1. The limits of detection of the method for the analytes were measured to be in the range of 0.02 to 0.1 ng g−1. The recoveries of target analytes from real samples on the material were in the range of 62.4–119.4% with relative standard deviations of 0.6–12.1% (n = 4). Moreover, good reproducibility of the method was obtained with the interday RSD being lower than 11.7% (n = 5) and intraday RSD lower than 12.2% (n = 4). The proposed method was accurate, reliable and convenient for the simultaneous analysis of multiple β-agonists and β-blockers. Finally, the method was successfully applied for the analysis of such compounds in milk samples. Novel phosphonic acid-functionalized porous organic polymers were synthesized through direct knitting method. It shows high adsorption efficiency and high adsorption capacity for multiple β-agonists and β-blockers analysis.![]()

Abstract
In this work, a metal–organic framework MIL-68(In)–NH2 incorporated high internal phase emulsion polymeric monolith (MIL-68(In)–NH2/polyHIPE) was prepared and applied as a solid phase extraction adsorbent for the extraction and detection of trace triazine herbicides in environmental water samples by coupling with HPLC-UV detection. The fabricated material showed good adsorption for simazine, prometryn, and prometon in water samples because of π–π interactions and hydrogen bonding interactions. Under optimal conditions, the maximum adsorption capacity of simazine, prometon and prometryn was 800 μg g−1, 800 μg g−1 and 6.01 mg g−1, respectively. The linearities were 10–800 ng mL−1 for simazine, prometon and prometryn. The limits of detection were 31–97 ng L−1, and the recoveries were 85.6–118.2% at four spiked levels with relative standard deviations lower than 5.0%. The method has a high sensitivity for the determination of three triazine herbicides in environmental water samples. MIL-68(In)–NH2 incorporated high internal phase emulsion polymeric monoliths were fabricated and applied to extract and determine triazine herbicide residues in environmental water samples.![]()

Abstract
In this study, the reduction of the pesticide simazine at an initial concentration of 0.7 mg L−1 in water has been investigated using two different technologies: adsorption with powdered and granulated activated carbon, advanced oxidation processes with ozone and finally, the combination of both technologies. The results obtained for a carbon dose of 16 mg L−1 show that powdered activated carbon, with contact times of 60 min, obtained 81% of reduction and in 24 h 92%, while granulated activated carbon at 60 min obtained a reduction of 2%, rising to 34% after 24 h of contact time. Therefore, powdered activated carbon achieves better reductions compared to granulated; when ozone was applied at a dose of 19.7 mg L−1, with a reaction time of 18 min, a reduction of 93% was obtained, achieving a better reduction in less time than with adsorption treatments; however, during oxidation, by-products of simazine were produced. In the combined treatments, with the same doses of carbon and ozone mentioned above, the treatment that starts with ozone followed by activated carbon powder is recommended due to the adsorption in the last phase reaching a 90% reduction of the simazine and its by-products in 38 min of time.

Abstract
In this work, graphene oxide-hybridized high internal emulsion polymers with crosslinking and open-cell structure was prepared and applied for separation and enrichment of estrogens. The prepared graphene oxide-hybridized high internal emulsion polymer monoliths had hydrophobicity, porosity and stability, which were just obtained by one step in-situ emulsion polymerization of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, glycidyl methacrylate, and divinylbenzene after doping with graphene oxide. Benefit from the advantages of its unique character, the graphene oxide-hybridized high internal emulsion polymers monolith with low background pressure (85 kPa) and high mechanical strength could be applied for efficient separation for trace estrogens in urine. Under the optimized condition, trace estrogens, including estrone, estradiol, and diethylstilbestrol in urine, were detected by high-performance liquid chromatography, all the sample preparation process were carried out in 15 min, the recovery rate was ranged from 85.0 to 106.0% and the relative standard deviation was less than 4.

Abstract
Owing to the remarkable physicochemical properties such as hydrophobicity, conductivity, elasticity, and light weight, graphene-based materials have emerged as one of the most appealing carbon allotropes in materials science and chemical engineering. Unfortunately, pristine graphene materials lack functional groups for further modification, severely hindering their practical applications. To render graphene materials with special characters for different applications, graphene oxide or reduced graphene oxide has been functionalized with different organic agents and assembled together, via covalent binding and various noncovalent forces such as π-π interaction, electrostatic interaction, and hydrogen bonding. In this review, we briefly discuss the state-of-the-art synthetic strategies and properties of organic-functionalized graphene-based materials, and then, present the prospective applications of organic-functionalized graphene-based materials in sample preparation.

A porous carbon absorbent based on high internal phase emulsion for separation and enrichment of trifluralin from soil. Mikrochim Acta 2020; 187:138. Abstract
A porous carbon absorbent was obtained by using high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs) polymerization followed by high temperature carbonization under nitrogen protection. Graphene oxide (GO) and silica nanoparticles were doped into the HIPEs to enhance the adsorption ability and reusability. Fourier infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used for characterization and several parameters of separation and enrichment of trifluralin. The results showed that a hyper-crosslink framework material was obtained with abundant porous (pore size of about 30 μm) and a good adsorption and separation efficiency. The adsorption rate was up to 100% and trifluralin was completely eluted from the absorbent by 2.0 mL of an acetic acid-acetonitrile mixture.
