Unlocking the interaction of organophosphorus pesticide residues with ecosystem: Toxicity and bioremediation

Organophosphorus adulteration in the environment creates terrestrial and aquatic pollution. It causes acute and subacute toxicity in plants, humans, insects, and animals. Due to the excessive use of organophosphorus pesticides, there is a need to develop environmentally friendly, economical, and bio-based strategies. The microbiomes, that exist in the soil, can reduce the devastating effects of organophosphates. The use of cell-free enzymes and yeast is also an advanced method for the degradation of organophosphates. Plant-friendly bacterial strains, that exist in the soil, can help to degrade these contaminants by oxidation-reduction reactions, enzymatic breakdown, and adsorption. The bacterial strains mostly from the genus Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Acinetobacter, Agrobacterium, and Rhizobium have the ability to hydrolyze the bonds of organophosphate compounds like profenofos, quinalphos, malathion, methyl-parathion, and chlorpyrifos. The native bacterial strains also promote the growth abilities of plants and help in detoxification of organophosphate residues. This bioremediation technique is easy to use, relatively cost-effective, very efficient, and ensures the safety of the environment. This review covers the literature gap by describing the major effects of organophosphates on the ecosystem and their bioremediation by using native bacterial strains.

Internal multiple interactions-adsorption and external zwitterionic polymer-exclusion of restricted access materials as adsorbent for offline and online extraction of neonicotinoid pesticides in Goji samples

A method based on novel restricted access materials (RAMs) for the determination of neonicotinoid pesticides in Goji samples using offline and online solid phase extraction (SPE) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (LC). RAMs were synthesized using poly(chloromethylstyrene-co-divinylbenzene) (PVBC/DVB) microspheres as substrate, styrene (St) and n-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) were first copolymerized on the interior to construct adsorption sites, and sulfobetaine methacrylate (SBMA) was then polymerized on the exterior to form exclusion sites via two-step surface initiated-atom transfer polymerization. The prepared PVBC/DVB@poly(St-co-NVP)@poly(SBMA) RAMs could efficiently extract neonicotinoid pesticides and automatically exclude proteins. Under the optimized conditions, the developed methods of offline (magnetic SPE and SPE column) and online extraction coupled with LC both using PVBC/DVB@poly(St-co-NVP)@poly(SBMA) RAMs as the extractant, exhibit a wide linearity, low limits of detection and limit of quantification and good inter-day and intra-day precision with satisfactory recoveries. Among these methods, online extraction coupled with LC based on novel RAMs exhibits clear advantages for the determination of neonicotinoid pesticides in Goji samples has clear advantages, such as simple operation by direct injection, short extraction times, and high accuracy with less human error.

A novel deep eutectic solvent modified magnetic covalent organic framework for the selective separation and determination of trace copper ion in medicinal plants and environmental samples

BACKGROUND

Pretreatment techniques should be introduced before metal ion determination because there is very low content of heavy metals in Chinese medicinal plants and environmental samples. Magnetic dispersive micro solid phase extraction (MDMSPE) has been widely used for the separation and adsorption of heavy metal pollutants in medicinal plants and environmental samples. However, the majority of MDMSPE adsorbents have certain drawbacks, including low selectivity, poor anti-interference ability, and small adsorption capacity. Therefore, modifying currently available adsorption materials has gained attention in research.

RESULTS

In this study, a novel adsorbent MCOF-DES based on a magnetic covalent organic framework (MCOF) modified by a new deep eutectic solvent (DES) was synthesized for the first time and used as an adsorbent of MDMSPE. The MDMSPE was combined with inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) for selective separation, enrichment, and accurate determination of trace copper ion (Cu2+) in medicinal plants and environmental samples. Various characterization results show the successful preparation of new MCOF-DES. Under the optimal conditions, the enrichment factor (EF) of Cu2+ was 30, the limit of detection (LOD) was 0.16 μg L-1, and the limit of quantitation (LOQ) was 0.54 μg L-1. The results for the determination of Cu2+ were highly consistent with those of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), which verified the accuracy and reliability of the method.

SIGNIFICANCE

The established method based on a new adsorption material MCOF-DES has achieved the selective separation and determination of trace Cu2+ in medicinal and edible homologous medicinal materials (Phyllanthus emblica Linn.) and environmental samples (soil and water), which provides a promising, selective, and sensitive approach for the determination of trace Cu2+ in other real samples.

Simultaneous removal of four aflatoxins using magnetic nanobentonite as a green and fast sorbent: kinetic, thermodynamic, and isotherm investigation

In the study, an adsorptive removal strategy as a straightforward and fast procedure was developed to remove four aflatoxins, including aflatoxin B1 (AF-B1), aflatoxin B2 (AF-B2), aflatoxin G1 (AF-G1), and aflatoxin G2 (AF-G2). A simple and green sorbent consisting of two components (activated nanobentonite and Fe3O4 nanoparticles) was synthesized based on three steps using acidic treatment, ultrasonic procedure, and chemical precipitation method. The sorbent was characterized by several techniques such as FTIR, FESEM, TEM, XRD, and VSM to determine the sorbent structure and morphology. An experimental design based on a central composite design was utilized to optimize factors in the removal of AFs. The optimum values of the factors (pH, sorbent amount, shaking rate) were 6.8, 0.076 g, and 160 rpm, respectively. Three models, including pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and intra-particle diffusion models, were used to investigate the kinetics of the removal process. The removal of AFs using magnetic nanobentonite was fitted with the pseudo-second-order model better than other models with an equilibrium time lower than 30 min. The thermodynamic data show that the adsorption of AFs on the sorbent is a spontaneous and feasible process due to negative values of the Gibbs-free energy change (ΔG) at different temperatures. Two models (Langmuir and Freundlich models) were chosen to study the isotherm of the removal procedure, indicating that the Freundlich model describes the results better than the Langmuir model. The maximum adsorption capacity of the sorbent for removing AF-B1, AF-B2, AF-G1, and AF-G2 is 357.14, 400.0, 370.37, and 400.0 mg g-1, respectively. The sorbent reusability was also evaluated to study the sorbent's ability for the removal of AFs, indicating that the sorbent was used for 5 cycles without a significant reduction in the ability to remove AFs.

Organophosphorus and carbamate pesticides: Molecular toxicology and laboratory testing

Population and food requirements are increasing daily throughout the world. To fulfil these requirements application of pesticides is also increasing. Organophosphorous (OP) and Organocarbamate (OC) compounds are widely used pesticides. These pesticides are used for suicidal purposes too. Both inhibit Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and cholinergic symptoms are mainly used for the diagnosis of pesticide poisoning. Although the symptoms of the intoxication of OP and OC are similar, recent research has described different targets for OP and OC pesticides. Researchers believe the distinction of OP/OC poisoning will be beneficial for the management of pesticide exposure. OP compounds produce adducts with several proteins. There is a new generation of OP compounds like glyphosate that do not inhibit AChE. Therefore, it's high time to develop biomarkers that can distinguish OP poisoning from OC poisoning.

Comparison of supercritical fluid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry for the stereoselective analysis of chlorfenvinphos and dimethylvinphos in tobacco

This study used reversed-phase liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and supercritical fluid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry for determination of the stereoisomers of chlorfenvinphos and dimethylvinphos in tobacco. Tobacco samples were extracted and purified with a modified quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe technique using spherical carbon. The performance of both methodologies was comprehensively compared in terms of methods validation parameters (separation efficiency, linearity, selectivity, recovery, repeatability, sensitivity, matrix effect, etc.). Under optimized conditions, the calibration curves of the stereoisomers of chlorfenvinphos and dimethylvinphos in the range of 10-500 ng/mL showed excellent linearity with R2 ≥  0.997 in both methods. The adequate recoveries of analytes from three different spiked tobaccos were obtained using reversed-phase liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (86.1-95.7%) as well as supercritical fluid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (86.5-94.0%). The relative standard deviations for spiked samples were all below 7.0%. Compared with supercritical fluid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, lower matrix effects and LODs can be obtained in reversed-phase liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

Optimization and synthesis of a novel sorbent composite based on magnetic chitosan-amine-functionalized bimetallic MOF for the simultaneous dispersive solid-phase microextraction of four aflatoxins in real water, herbal distillate, and food samples

Aflatoxins (AFs), an important category of pollutants, are formed in many foods and adversely affect human health. Therefore, their determination is critical to ensuring human food health. An efficient dispersive solid-phase microextraction technique was developed as a simple and straightforward sample preparation technique for determination of four aflatoxins using a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) fluorescence detector. A novel efficient, green sorbent for extracting AFs was synthesized based on hydrothermal and chemical strategies. The amounts of three sorbent components were optimized using a mixture design (simplex lattice design), including 14 experiments. The optimal amount of amino-bimetallic Fe/Ni-MIL-53 nanospheres, chitosan, and magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles as sorbent components was 0.87, 0.67, and 0.47 g, respectively. Also, various factors affecting the process of AF determination were studied and optimized in two successive experimental designs, including the definitive screening design and the Box-Behnken design. Under optimal conditions, the linear ranges for measuring aflatoxin B1, aflatoxin B2, aflatoxin G1, and aflatoxin G2 were 0.05-82.6, 0.07-86.4, 0.08-85.7, and 0.07-89.5 ng mL-1, respectively. The relative standard deviations under inter-day and intra-day conditions for measuring AFs at three analyte concentrations were determined in triplicate analysis and were in the ranges of 3.7-4.6% and 4.9-6.1% for water sample analysis, respectively. The qualitative detection limits for determining AFs were between 0.01 and 0.05 ng mL-1. The pre-concentration factor of the method for measuring AFs ranged from 739.7 to 802.1. The proposed method was used for determining AFs in several real samples, including herbal distillate, black tea, corn, and real water samples. The relative recovery and standard deviation were 87.8-97.8% and 4.10-6.82%, respectively.

Target-Responsive Metal-Organic Framework Nanosystem with Synergetic Sensitive Detection and Controllable Degradation against the Pesticide Triazophos in Contaminated Samples for Environment Assessment and Food Safety

Developing sensitive practical sensors for monitoring pesticide residues in edible foods and environmental samples is vital for food safety and environmental protection. Enzyme-inhibited biosensors offer effective alternative sensing strategies by using the inherent characteristics of pesticides. To further improve the degradation function of pesticide sensors, here, a target-triggered porphyrin metal-organic framework (MOF)-based nanosystem was designed with the synergetic bifunction of sensitive detection and controllable degradation of the triazophos pesticide. As a result of triazophos-inhibited glutathione consumption, the MOF collapsed and released the ligand porphyrin, leading to the recovery of fluorescence and photosensitization of the free porphyrin. The fluorescence recovery resulted in a sensitive detection limit of 0.6 ng mL^-1 for triazophos, which was also applied for the determination of contaminated samples and bioaccumulation in rice. Furthermore, the target-activated photocatalytic ability of porphyrin endowed the system with the ability to effectively generate reactive oxygen species for degrading triazophos with a removal rate of ∼85%, achieving eco-friendly synergetic detection and photodegradation in a controllable way. Therefore, the intelligent multifunctional MOF system demonstrated the potential of programmable systems for jointly controllable tracking and elimination of pesticide residues in the environment and opened a new avenue for designing a precise mechanism for stimulus-triggered degradation of pesticide residues accompanied by sensitive detection for environmental friendliness and food safety.

Simultaneous determination of Co and Pb in P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis by ICP-OES after GO-TiO2-DES-based dispersive micro solid phase extraction

In this work, deep eutectic solvent (DES) was used to modify GO-TiO₂ to synthesize new adsorption material GO-TiO₂-DES nanocomposites. It was first used for dispersive micro solid phase extraction (DMSPE) and combined with inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) for simultaneous determination of trace cobalt (Co) and lead (Pb) in natural medicine P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area were used to characterize. The results showed that GO-TiO₂-DES nanocomposites were successfully prepared and had better adsorption effect on metal ions. The factors affecting the extraction and elution of Co and Pb were optimized, including the type of DES, pH, adsorption time, amount of adsorbent, adsorption temperature, and elution time. Under the optimum conditions, the enhancement factors (EFs) of Co and Pb were 31 and 28, the limits of detection (LODs) were 0.11 and 0.24 μg L^-1, and the limits of quantification (LOQs) were 0.36 and 0.82 μg L^-1, respectively. The results of Co and Pb determined by the established method were in good agreement with those of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), which verified the accuracy and reliability of the method.

Analytical perspective and environmental remediation potentials of magnetic composite nanosorbents

The synthesis and application of magnetic nanosorbents to remove emerging pollutants have been considered the best environmental remediation and sustainability option. Incorporating magnetism shortens the treatment time and allows the sorbent to be recovered quickly using external magnetic with many cycles. The implementation of magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) using magnetic materials of different shapes, sizes, and surface morphology can be a valuable tool in applying materials to prepare analytical samples. In MSPE applications, materials with strong magnetic domain can be used as precursors for constructing magnetic composite as a promising sorbent. This article focuses on the most recent and exceptional applications of magnetic adsorbents for preconcentration and removal purposes. Magnetic adsorbents, such as nanoparticles (NPs), foam, sponges, nanocomposites, hydrogels, and beads with multifunctional attributes have been comprehensively studied in terms of preparation procedures, limitations, advantages, and interactions between pollutants and magnetic composites. The role of magnetic sorbents in sample preparation methods, such as simple solid-phase extraction and microextraction, as well as sorptive extraction using a stir bar, was also examined. The use of magnetic adsorbents with analytical techniques, such as solid-phase extraction and solid-phase microextraction improves the method for preparing samples concerning the influential role of magnetic adsorbents. Towards the end, promising features and future outlook are also directed.

Determination of organophosphorus in dairy products by graphitic carbon nitride combined molecularly imprinted microspheres with ultra performance liquid chromatography

Organophosphorus (OPPs) residues in dairy products are a potential threat to human health. To extract trace amounts of OPPs in dairy products, a graphitic carbon nitride (g-C₃N₄) was synthesized and combined with OPPs-based molecularly imprinted microspheres (MIM) to create a composite material (MIM/g-C₃N₄). Then, the MIM/g-C₃N₄ was used to prepare a solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridge to detect the OPPs in dairy products with UPLC method. The specific surface area of MIM/g-C₃N₄ was 172.208 m²/g, good thermal stability under 300℃, and could reuse up to 15 times. The four OPPs had good linear relationship within the range of 1–10000 ng/mL (r² > 0.999). The limits of detection were 0.7–2.6 ng/mL, and recoveries from blank dairy samples were 86.4 to 95.3 %. In this study, MIM combined with g-C₃N₄ was firstly utilized for the detection of OPPs in dairy products, which indicated it might be an ideal adsorbent for dairy products pretreatment.

Highly Selective Detection of Paraoxon in Food Based on the Platform of Cu Nanocluster/MnO2 Nanosheets

Selective and sensitive identification of paraoxon residue in agricultural products is greatly significant for food safety but remains a challenging task. Herein, a detection platform was developed by integrating Cu nanoclusters (Cu NCs) with MnO₂ nanosheets, where the fluorescence of Cu NCs was effectively quenched. Upon introducing butyrylcholinesterase and butyrylcholine into the system, their hydrolysate, thiocholine, leads to the decomposition of the platform through a reaction between the MnO₂ nanosheets and thiol groups on thiocholine. The electron-rich groups on thiocholine can further promote the fluorescence intensity of Cu NCs through host–guest interactions. Adding paraoxon results in the failure of fluorescence recovery and further promotion, which could be utilized for the quantitative detection of paraoxon, and a limit of detection as low as 0.22 ng/mL can be achieved. The detection platform shows strong tolerance to common interference species, which endows its applications for the detection of paraoxon in vegetables and fruit. These presented results not only open a new door for the functionalization of metal nanoclusters but also offer an inspiring strategy for analytic techniques in nanomedicine and environmental science.

Simultaneous determination of 76 pesticide residues in the traditional Chinese medicine by magnetic hydrophilic-lipophilic-balanced materials assisted matrix solid phase dispersion extraction-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry

建立灵敏、可靠的中药材中农药多残留的检测方法对保证中药材的质量和安全十分重要。制备了磁性亲水亲脂平衡萃取材料Fe₃O₄@PLS,将其应用于农药多残留的磁性基质固相分散萃取中,并结合高效液相色谱-串联质谱法(HPLC-MS/MS)检测了金银花、菊花和三七块根(干)3种中药材中76种农药残留量。研究通过扫描电子显微镜(SEM)、傅里叶变换红外光谱(FT-IR)和X-射线衍射仪(XRD)对磁性萃取材料Fe₃O₄@PLS进行表面形貌和结构的表征。同时考察了影响磁性基质固相分散萃取效率的主要因素,结果表明,磁性萃取材料Fe₃O₄@PLS的用量为10 mg、研磨分散吸附时间为5 min、淋洗液为10 mL 20%(v/v)甲醇水溶液、涡旋振荡清洗1 min、以0.5 mL 0.1%(v/v)甲酸乙腈为洗脱剂、涡旋振荡洗脱1 min, 76种农药的萃取效果最佳。在实际应用中,76种农药在金银花、菊花、三七块根(干)3种中药材中的萃取回收率别为69.1%~112.2%、67.1%~102.8%和70.1%~105.1%,相对标准偏差分别为2.0%~12.4%、2.1%~13.2%和2.0%~13.5%。该方法利用Fe₃O₄@PLS良好的磁响应性和亲水亲脂通用吸附特性,可以同时萃取极性农药(如多菌灵等)和非极性农药(如敌瘟磷等),建立了测定中药材中76种农药残留的磁性基质固相分散萃取-高效液相色谱-串联质谱联用的分析方法,具有低消耗、操作简便、灵敏度高等优点,适用于非液态中药材基质中多种类农药残留的检测。

PVA/Stevia/MIL-88A@AuNPs composite nanofibers as a novel sorbent for simultaneous extraction of eight agricultural pesticides in food and vegetable samples followed by HPLC-UV analysis

Herein, an electrospun composite from poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and Stevia extract as a cross-linked nanofibrous was prepared with incorporating Fe-metal organic framework@Au nanoparticles (MIL-88A@AuNPs). The final composite was characterized, and then used as an efficient sorbent in pipette-tip micro solid-phase extraction (PT-µSPE) of eight selected pesticides in food samples followed by HPLC-UV analysis. Under the opted conditions, the linearity was in the range of 1.0-1000.0 ng mL^-1 for atrazine and ametryn, 3.0-1500.0 ng mL^-1 for tribenuron-methyl, metribuzin, profenofos and chlorpyrifos, 5.0 to 1500.0 ng mL^-1 for phosalone, and 5.0-2000.0 ng mL^-1 for malation with coefficient of determination (r²) ≥ 0.9943. The LODs (based on S/N = 3) ranged from 0.3 to 1.5 ng m L^-1. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) were between 5.2% and 6.6% (intra-day, n = 5) and 5.9%-7.4% (inter-day, n = 3) for three consecutive days. Ultimately, the capability of the method in various food samples was appraised with good recoveries (79.3 to 97.6%).

Chemiluminescence sensors based on molecularly imprinted polymers for the determination of organophosphorus in milk

As a food adapted to all kinds of people, milk has a high nutritional value. Because milk is a complex biological matrix, detecting illegal compounds is often difficult. As a common pesticide, organophosphorus (OP) residues caused by nonstandard use may be ignored, which is a threat to milk quality. In this study, using coumaphos as template molecule, the synthesized molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) can specifically recognize 7 kinds of OP. Then, the MIP was used as an identification element to prepare a chemiluminescence sensor on a 96-well microplate for the determination of OP residues in milk samples. Due to the 4-(imidazol-1-yl)phenol-enhanced luminol-H₂O₂ system, the sensitivity of the system is very high; the detection limits of 7 OP including coumaphos, fenthion, chlorpyrifos, parathion, diazinon, fenchlorphos, and fenitrothion were 1 to 3 pg/mL, and the half maximal inhibitory concentrations were 1 to 20 ng/mL. The intraday recoveries of 7 OP were in the range of 86.1 to 86.5%, and the interday recoveries were in the range of 83.6 to 94.2%. Furthermore, the sensor can be reused up to 5 times. Therefore, the MIP-based chemiluminescence sensor can be used as a routine tool to detect OP residues in milk samples.

GNP/Al-MOF nanocomposite as an efficient fiber coating of headspace solid-phase micro-extraction for the determination of organophosphorus pesticides in food samples

The synthesis and utilization of a high porous nanocomposite comprising MIL-53(Al) metal-organic framework (Al-MOF) and graphene nanopowder (GNP) is reported as a fiber coating for headspace solid-phase micro-extraction (HS-SPME) of selected organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) from apple, potato, grape juice, tomato, and river water. The adsorbed OPPs on the coated fiber were subsequently determined using GC-MS. Several parameters affecting the efficiency of extraction including time and temperature of extraction, desorption condition of extracted analytes, pH and agitation of sample solution, and salt concentration were investigated. The optimum extraction condition was achieved at 70 °C with an extraction time of 40 min, pH = 4-8, and NaCl concentration of 6.0% (w/v). The best condition of desorption were observed at 280 °C for 2.0 min under a flow of helium gas in the GC inlet. Under optimal conditions, the detection limits ranged from 0.2 to 1.5 ng g^-1 and the linear ranges between 0.8 and 600 ng g^-1. The proposed method showed very good repeatability with RSD values ranging from 4.5 to 7.3% (n = 5). The relative recoveries were between 88% and 109% at the spiked level of 25.0 ng g^-1 for the tomato sample. The fabricated fiber exhibited good enrichment factor (62-195) at optimum condition of HS-SPME. The applied HS-SPME technique is facile, fast, and inexpensive. The thermally stable GNP/Al-MOF exhibited a high sensitivity toward OPPs. So, this nanocomposite can be considered as a sorbent for the micro-extraction of other pesticides in food.

Developments of Microextraction (Extraction) Procedures for Sample Preparation of Antidepressants in Biological and Water Samples, a Review

Antidepressants are an important class of drugs to treat various types of depression. The determination of antidepressants is crucial in biological samples to control adverse effects in humans and study pharmacokinetics and bioavailability. Direct measurement of antidepressants in biological and water samples is a considerable challenge for analysts due to their low concentration, the high matrix effects of real samples, and the presence of metabolites of these drugs in biological samples. The challenge leads to using sample preparation processes as a critical step in determining antidepressants. Extraction and microextraction procedures have been widely utilized as sample preparation procedures for these drugs. The purposes of extraction or microextraction methods for antidepressant medications are to preconcentrate the analyte, reduce the matrix effects, increase the selectivity of the procedures, and convert the sample to a suitable format for introducing it into detection systems. In the review, the various extraction and microextraction methods of these drugs in biological, real water, and wastewater samples were investigated. The theory of each technique was briefly addressed to understand the features and factors affecting each method. The extraction and microextraction methods were classified based on their application for antidepressants, and the advantages and disadvantages of each technique were reviewed. The new developments to overcome the limitations of each procedure were discussed. The investigation indicated the number of applications of liquid-phase microextraction for extracting antidepressants has been almost equal to that of solid-phase microextraction.

Synthesis of metal-organic framework @molecularly imprinted polymer adsorbents for solid phase extraction of organophosphorus pesticides from agricultural products

The novel core-shell structural zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 @molecularly imprinted polymers were successfully synthesized by surface imprinting technique and used as adsorbents for solid-phase extraction of organophosphorus pesticides. The obtained hybrid composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared, and their adsorbing and recognition performance were evaluated by binding experiments. The results showed that zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 @molecularly imprinted polymers presented a typically core-shell structure with molecularly imprinted shell (about 50 nm) homogeneously polymerized on the surface of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 core, and exhibited specific recognition towards organophosphorus pesticides with fast adsorption capacity. The adsorption and desorption conditions including sample loading solvent, sample pH, washing and elution solvent were optimized. Under optimum conditions, the solid-phase extraction based on zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 @molecularly imprinted polymers combined with high liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for determining organophosphorus pesticides was established and exhibited good linearity (R² ≥ 0.9927) in the range of 1-200 µg/L. With spiked at three different concentration levels in agricultural products (cauliflower, radish, pear, muskmelon), the recoveries ranged from 82.5% to 123.0% with relative standard deviations lower than 8.24%. The developed method was sensitive, convenient and efficient. More importantly, this study could provide a promising strategy for designing new adsorbents with extremely fast mass transfer rate for other potential trace contaminants.
