Abstract
6-mercaptopurine (6-MP) is widely used in the treatment of many diseases, but exhibits some serious side effects due to its toxicity. Therefore, it is important and imperative to effectively control and monitoring concentration of 6-MP. Herein, we designed a smartphone-assisted colorimetric sensing platform for 6-MP detection, based on an excellent β-cyclodextrin modified MnO2 nanosheets (β-CD@MnO2 NNS) mediated oxidase-like activity. β-CD@MnO2 NNS can directly oxidizes 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) into oxidized TMB with color changes, yielding more than 3-fold higher oxidase-like catalytic activity compared with individual MnO2 NNS. After adding 6-MP, β-CD@MnO2 NNS can be reduced to Mn2+ and lose their oxidase-like properties, resulting in a color and absorbance change for sensitive and selectivity detection of 6-MP. Meanwhile, the smartphone-based color recognition application can intuitively and simply measure the concentration of 6-MP. The limits of detection UV-vis instrument and smartphone were 0.35 μM and 0.86 μM, respectively. This method has also been successfully applied to the detection of real samples. Finally, this study provides a new promising platform for detection of 6-MP and is expected to be used in application of pharmaceutical analysis and biomedicine.

Abstract
Although bacteriophage-based biosensors hold promise for detecting Staphylococcus aureus in food products in a timely, simple, and sensitive manner, the associated targeting mechanism of the biosensors remains unclear. Herein, a colourimetric biosensor SapYZU11@ZnFe2O4, based on a broad-spectrum S. aureus lytic phage SapYZU11 and a ZnFe2O4 nanozyme, was constructed, and its capacity to detect viable S. aureus in food was evaluated. Characterisation of SapYZU11@ZnFe2O4 revealed its effective immobilisation, outstanding biological activity, and peroxidase-like capability. The peroxidase activity of SapYZU11@ZnFe2O4 significantly decreased after the addition of S. aureus, potentially due to blockage of the nanozyme active sites. Moreover, SapYZU11@ZnFe2O4 can detect S. aureus from various sources and S. aureus isolates that phage SapYZU11 could not lyse. This may be facilitated by the adsorption of the special receptor-binding proteins on the phage tail fibre and wall teichoic acid receptors of S. aureus. Besides, SapYZU11@ZnFe2O4 exhibited remarkable sensitivity and specificity when employing colourimetric techniques to rapidly determine viable S. aureus counts in food samples, with a detection limit of 0.87 × 102 CFU/mL. Thus, SapYZU11@ZnFe2O4 has broad application prospects for the detection of viable S. aureus cells on food substrates.

Abstract
Integrating enzymes and nanozymes in various applications is a topic of significant interest. The researchers have explored the encapsulation of enzymes using diverse nanostructures to create nanomaterial-enzyme hybrids. These nanomaterials introduce unique properties that contribute to the additional activity along with the stabilization of enzymes in immobilized form, enabling a cascade of second-order reactions. This review centers on dual-activity nanozymes, providing insights into their applications in biosensors and biocatalysis. These applications leverage the enhanced catalytic activity and stability offered by dual-activity nanozymes. These nanozymes find promising applications in fields like bioremediation, offering eco-friendly solutions for mitigating environmental pollution while showing potential in medical diagnostics. The review delves into various techniques for creating enzyme-nanozyme hybrid catalysts, including adsorption, encapsulation, and incorporation methods. The review also addresses the challenges that must be overcome, such as overlapping catalytic surfaces and disparities in reaction rates in multi-enzyme cascade reactions. It concludes by presenting strategies to tackle these issues and offers insights into the field's promising future, suggesting that machine learning may drive further advancements in enzyme-nanozyme integration. This comprehensive exploration illuminates the present and charts a promising course for future innovations in the seamless integration of enzymes and nanozymes, heralding a new era of catalytic possibilities.

Abstract
Although bacteriophage-based biosensors are promising tools for rapid, convenient, and sensitive detection of Staphylococcus aureus in food products, the effect of biosensors using temperate phages as biorecognition elements to detect viable S. aureus isolates remains unclear. In this study, three temperate S. aureus phages were isolated and their biological features (one-step growth, host range, pH stability, temperature stability, and adsorption rate) were evaluated as the biological element. The selected phage SapYZUs8 was immobilized on the nanozyme Cu-MOF via electrostatic interactions to generate SapYZUs8@Cu-MOF, and its detection performance in real food (skim milk and pork) was then evaluated. Compared with phages SapYZUm7 and SapYZUs16, phage SapYZUs8 exhibited a broader host range, greater pH stability (3-12), and a better absorption rate (92 %, 8 min) suitable for S. aureus detection, which is likely the result of the DNA replication (DNA helicase) and phage tail protein genes in the SapYZUs8 genome. Therefore, phage SapYZUs8 was fixed on Cu-MOF to generate SapYZUs8@Cu-MOF, which exhibited good sensitivity and specificity for rapid colourimetric detection of viable S. aureus. The method took <0.5 h, and the detection limit was 1.09 × 102 CFU/mL. In addition, SapYZUs8@Cu-MOF was successfully employed for the colourimetric detection of S. aureus in food samples without interference from different food additives, NaCl concentrations, or pH values. With these benefits, it allows rapid visual assessment of S. aureus levels.

Abstract
To conveniently monitor bioactive cysteine (Cys) and Fe2+ in practice, a kind of poly-β-cyclodextrin strengthen praseodymium oxide (Pr6O11) porous oxidase mimic (p-β-CD@Pr6O11) was constructed by virtue of the strong coordination between nano Pr6O11 and poly-β-cyclodextrin substrate. After its microstructure and physicochemical property were characterized in detail, it was noted that porous p-β-CD@Pr6O11 exhibited excellent enzyme-like catalytic activity to accelerate the oxidation of 3,3',5,5,'-tetramethylbanzidine (TMB) and 2,2'-azinobis (3-ethylbenzo-thiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) ammonium salt (ABTS) with significant color-enhancement effect in the air. Based on the signal amplification, trace Cys could exclusively deteriorate the UV-vis absorbance at 653 nm of p-β-CD@Pr6O11-TMB and Fe2+ alter the one at 729 nm of p-β-CD@Pr6O11-ABTS with visual color changes. Under the optimized conditions, the proposed p-β-CD@Pr6O11-TMB and p-β-CD@Pr6O11-ABTS systems were successfully applied for dual-channel monitoring of Cys in Cys capsules and fetal bovine serum and Fe2+ in agricultural products with quite low detection limits, i.e., 7.8×10-9 mol·L-1 for Cys and 6.93×10-8 mol·L-1 (S/N=3) for Fe2+, respectively. The synergetic-enhancement detection mechanisms to Cys and Fe2+ were also proposed.

Abstract
Despite the widespread use of nanozyme-based colorimetric assays in biosensing, challenges such as limited catalytic efficiency, inadequate sensitivity to analytes, and insufficient understanding of the structure-activity relationship still persist. Overcoming these hurdles by enhancing the inherent enzyme-like performance of nanozymes using the unique attributes of nanomaterials is still a significant obstacle. Here, we designed and constructed Pd-Cu2O nanocages (Pd-Cu2O NCs) by selectively etching the vertices of the copper octahedra to enhance the peroxidase-like (POD-like) activity of Cu2O nanoparticles. The improved catalytic activity of Pd-Cu2O NCs was attributed to their high specific surface area and abundant catalytic sites. Mechanistic studies revealed that reactive oxygen species (ROS) intermediates (•OH) were generated through the decomposition of H2O2, resulting in POD-like activity of the Pd-Cu2O NCs. The designed Pd-Cu2O NCs can oxidize 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) in the presence of H2O2, producing a blue oxidation product (oxTMB). The oxidation reaction was inhibited and led to a significant bleaching of the blue color in the presence of reducing substances isoniazid (INH) and ascorbic acid (AA). Based on these principles, we developed a colorimetric sensing platform for the detection of INH and AA, exhibiting good sensitivity and stability. This work provided a straightforward approach to the structural engineering of nanomaterials and the enhancement of enzyme-mimicking properties.

Abstract
Glutamate, a non-essential amino acid produced by fermentation, plays a significant role in disease diagnosis and food safety. It is important to enable the real-time monitoring of glutamate concentration for human health and nutrition. Due to the challenges in directly performing electrochemical oxidation-reduction reactions of glutamate, this study leverages the synergistic effect of glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH) and nanoporous gold (NPG) to achieve the indirect and accurate detection of glutamate within the range of 50 to 700 μM by measuring the generated quantity of NADH during the enzymatic reaction. The proposed biosensor demonstrates remarkable performance characteristics, including a detection sensitivity of 1.95 μA mM-1 and a limit of detection (LOD) of 6.82 μM. The anti-interference tests indicate an average recognition error ranging from -3.85% to +2.60%, spiked sample recovery rates between 95% and 105%, and a relative standard deviation (RSD) of less than 4.97% for three replicate experiments. Therefore, the GLDH-NPG/GCE biosensor presented in this work exhibits excellent accuracy and repeatability, providing a novel alternative for rapid glutamate detection. This research contributes significantly to enhancing the precise monitoring of glutamate concentration, thereby offering more effective guidance and control for human health and nutrition.

Abstract
The discovery of a simple and efficient detection method for biothiols would be scientifically significant due to the crucial role of them in various physiological processes. Recently, a simple fluorescent probe, DEMCA-NBSC, based on coumarin fragments, was developed by Ding et al., and provided an efficient way for real-time sensing of biothiols both in vivo and vitro. Theoretical insights to the fluorescence sensing mechanism of the probe were provided in this work. Details of the electron transfer process in the probe under optical excitation and the fluorescent character of the probe were analyzed using a quantum mechanical method. All these theoretical results could inspire the development of a highly convenient and efficient fluorescent probe to sense biothiols both in vivo and vitro.
