Abstract
Several studies suggest that patients with psoriasis have a higher incidence of neoplasms, especially of the skin, which could be associated with the use of therapies to treat psoriasis. Furthermore, the evidence available on the safety profile of some treatments in this context, and the management of these patients is scarce, which is why clinical practice guidelines with recommendations on the management of psoriasis in cancer patients are ambiguous. This study provides recommendations on the management and use of the therapies currently available for these patients. They are the result of a Delphi consensus reached by 45 dermatologists of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Psoriasis Working Group, and their goal is to help specialists in the field in their decision-making processes.

This consensus statement discusses 17 recommendations for managing treatment for moderate to severe psoriasis in patients older than 65 years. The recommendations were proposed by a committee of 6 dermatologists who reviewed the literature. Fifty-one members of the Psoriasis Working Group of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV) then applied the Delphi process in 2 rounds to reach consensus on which principles to adopt. The recommendations can help to improve management, outcomes, and prognosis for older adults with moderate to severe psoriasis.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Although the introduction of biologics and targeted synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (tsDMARDs) has reshaped the treatment paradigm for immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs) such as psoriasis, oral conventional synthetic DMARDs (csDMARDs) remain the cornerstone in their treatment. Combinational use of DMARDs is common in rheumatological practice, but for the treatment of many skin diseases, dermatologists typically use a single oral DMARD, with methotrexate (MTX) being the most commonly prescribed csDMARD for psoriasis. METHODS To better understand the potential benefits of MTX combination therapy in psoriasis, a literature review was conducted using Medline (PubMed), Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library, covering articles published from inception until October 2022. Randomized controlled trials, cohort, open-label, and observational studies, and case reports with efficacy and safety results for combination therapy with MTX, csDMARDs, and tsDMARDs or comparisons between MTX monotherapy and combination therapy with other oral DMARDs in psoriasis were included. Studies involving MTX monotherapy alone or sequential treatment with MTX and other oral DMARDs were excluded, as were non-English articles. The results are presented as a systematic review, and the risk of bias was assessed by the corresponding author using the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions, version 6.3, and confirmed by an independent assessor. RESULTS Eleven studies comprising 494 participants were included in the review. Overall, combination treatment with MTX and other oral DMARDs exhibited good efficacy and tolerability in psoriasis. However, the included studies were primarily small scale or retrospective, and larger prospective randomized trials are needed to provide stronger evidence. CONCLUSION This literature review suggests that combination therapy with MTX and csDMARDs may serve as an efficacious treatment for psoriasis patients with an inadequate response to oral DMARD monotherapy.

Abstract
Background: Psoriasis is a common inflammatory disease with significant comorbidities, and regardless of its extent, it affects the patients' quality of life. The various modalities of treating psoriasis comprise topical or systemic medications, phototherapy, and an array of biologic agents. There is a lack of Indian recommendations on the management of psoriasis with these different modalities and challenges faced by the clinicians in day-to-day practice. Aim: To develop India-specific consensus for systemic management of patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis. Method and Results: A panel of dermatology experts, based on the evidence and international recommendations, coupled with their own clinical experience, developed recommendations for systemic management of patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis. Conclusion: These recommendations are meant to provide guidance in terms of choice of systemic therapies, dosing, effectiveness, and safety. It also addresses clinical challenges that may be experienced during psoriasis management.

Abstract
Purpose Psoriasis is an inflammatory disease associated with cardiovascular disease. Methotrexate (MTX) is a first-line systemic anti-psoriatic agent that may also protect against cardiovascular disease. We examined the cardiovascular risks among patients with psoriasis who were receiving MTX or the comparator, retinoids. Patients and Methods We analysed data from the Taiwanese National Health Insurance database. The primary outcome was a composite of hospitalisation for ischaemic heart disease, ischaemic stroke and all-cause mortality (composite cardiovascular outcome). Propensity score-weighted analyses were used to evaluate patients who were followed from therapy initiation to the earliest instance of outcome occurrence, insurance disenrollment, death or study termination. Results We identified 13,777 patients who received MTX and 6020 patients who received retinoids from 2000 to 2012. Compared to retinoids, MTX was associated with lower crude incidences of cardiovascular outcomes, hospitalisation for ischaemic heart disease, ischaemic stroke and all-cause mortality. In intention-to-treat analyses, MTX was associated with lower risks of composite cardiovascular outcomes (adjusted hazard ratio [HR]: 0.84, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.76–0.94), ischaemic heart disease (HR: 0.87, 95% CI: 0.71–1.06), ischaemic stroke (HR: 1.06, 95% CI: 0.89–1.27) and all-cause mortality (HR: 0.75, 95% CI: 0.66–0.85). Similar results were found in as-treated analyses. Conclusion In this nationwide cohort of patients with psoriasis, compared to retinoids, MTX was associated with a modestly lower risk of cardiovascular events.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disease, affecting about 2 to 3% of the population worldwide. Nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain 2-like receptor has been implicated in the pathogenesis of different inflammatory diseases. The current work aims to investigate the expression of nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain 2-like receptor in psoriatic skin through an immunohistochemical study. This cross-sectional case-control study included 20 patients with chronic plaque psoriasis and 20 age- and sex-matched normal subjects as controls. Psoriasis severity was assessed through the use of Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) score. Skin biopsies were taken under local anesthesia from cases and from matched sites of controls. Expression of nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain 2 in epidermis of studied cases and controls showed positive epidermal expression of nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain 2 in all cases (100%) versus 6 (30%) controls with a significant increase (χ2 = 21.54, P˂0.001). Moreover, dermal expression of nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain 2 was higher in psoriatic skin lesion (95%) compared to controls (15%) with a significant difference (χ2 = 25.86, P˂0.001). We concluded that nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain 2 may be implicated in psoriasis pathogenesis being higher in cases in comparison to controls.

Abstract
Background The use of methotrexate-acitretin (MTX-ACI) combination therapy in treating psoriasis has been limited due to concerns related to hepatic fibrosis. However, in vitro evidence revealed a protective effect of acitretin in methotrexate (MTX)-induced liver fibrosis. Objective This study aimed to compare the real-life incidence of hepatic fibrosis in patients with psoriasis receiving MTX-ACI and MTX monotherapy and to investigate factors associated with hepatic fibrosis in MTX-exposed patients. Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted based on a real-life registry containing data on patients with psoriasis who were administered MTX-ACI or MTX between 2008 and 2019 and underwent transient elastography according to cumulative MTX dose of 1.0–1.5 g and/or 3.5–4.0 g. Time-to-event analysis was performed to determine the cumulative incidence, incidence rate, and factors potentially affecting the occurrence of hepatic fibrosis. Results Of the 160 patients, 32 (20%) were treated with MTX-ACI, and 128 (80%) with MTX alone. Four patients (12.5%) in MTX-ACI group and 21 (16.4%) in MTX group developed hepatic fibrosis (p = 0.59). There was no statistically significant difference in cumulative incidence (16% in MTX-ACI vs 17% in MTX, p = 0.89) and incidence rate (37 cases per 1000 person-year in MTX-ACI vs 23 cases per 1000 person-year in MTX; hazard ratio [HR] = 1.07; p = 0.90) of hepatic fibrosis between the two groups. Diabetes and obesity were identified as significant factors associated with hepatic fibrosis (adjusted HR = 2.40, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.05–5.51; p = 0.04 and adjusted HR = 3.28, 95% CI: 1.18–9.16; p = 0.02, respectively) regardless of the cumulative MTX dose. Conclusion The incidence of hepatic fibrosis in a real-life clinical situation, determined by transient elastography in patients with psoriasis receiving MTX-ACI, was not increased compared to those receiving MTX monotherapy. Type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity were identified as risk factors of hepatic fibrosis; hence, patients with these factors receiving long-term MTX therapy should be regularly monitored for this particular event.

Abstract
Background: Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) exerts an important role in inflammatory processes, lipids homeostasis, and cardiometabolic disorders that are closely associated with psoriasis. The aim of the study was to analyze the clinical and diagnostic value of serum PCSK9 concentrations and their connections with disease severity, inflammation, metabolic syndrome, and impact of systemic therapies in psoriatic patients. The study enrolled thirty-five patients with active plaque-type psoriasis and eighteen healthy volunteers served as controls. Blood samples were obtained before and after 12 weeks of treatment with methotrexate or acitretin. Serum PCSK9 concentrations were measured by the ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) commercial kits. Morphological and biochemical parameters were assayed using routine laboratory techniques. Psoriatic patients showed significantly elevated levels of PCSK9 compared to controls (p < 0.01), mostly in patients with a mild and moderate course of psoriasis. PCSK9 concentrations correlated positively with BMI and triglyceride levels (p < 0.05). Interestingly, PCSK9 had a strong negative correlation with low-density lipoprotein levels and total cholesterol (p < 0.05). Three months of monotherapy with methotrexate significantly reduced PCSK9 level (p < 0.05), on the contrary, the acitretin group showed a further increase of PCSK9 levels (p < 0.05). PCSK9 seems to be a novel marker of psoriasis and a putative explanation of lipid disturbances, which are common in patients with psoriasis and are vital for the further developing of metabolic syndrome. Methotrexate should be considered as a treatment of choice in patients with an elevated PCSK9 concentration.

Abstract
Considered more efficacious and safer than traditional systemic drugs, biologic therapies have dramatically improved the quality of life of patients with psoriasis. Recently, there has been a proliferation of new targeted treatment options, including anti-interleukin-17, anti-interleukin-12/23, as well as small-molecule drugs such as apremilast. There are nevertheless some concerns regarding their use, especially in patients with chronic infections such as hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). It has been estimated that two billion individuals are infected with HBV worldwide and approximately 240 million have chronic HBV infection. Moreover, there are approximately 71 million individuals with chronic HCV infection worldwide, with a high percentage of them unaware of being infected. As patients with HBV and HCV infections are excluded from controlled clinical trials investigating new drugs, data regarding their safety in patients with psoriasis are based almost exclusively on case reports and small retrospective cohort studies and need to be constantly updated. The risk of HBV reactivation can be defined as: high risk (≥ 10%), moderate risk (1-10%), and low risk (< 1%) depending on the type of immunosuppressive therapy stratified by the presence or absence of hepatitis B surface antigen but positivity to anti-hepatitis B core antigen. Hepatitis B surface antigen-positive patients treated with tumor necrosis factor-α inhibitors, ustekinumab, or cyclosporine carry a high or moderate risk of HBV reactivation and should be considered candidates for prophylactic anti-HBV therapy. Once therapy is commenced, it is important to check HBV DNA levels every 3 months. Hepatitis B virus reactivation typically occurs with immune reconstitution and therefore antiviral therapy should continue for 6-12 months after stopping immunosuppression. Hepatitis B surface antigen-positive patients who are prescribed methotrexate, acitretin, or apremilast have a low risk and need to be monitored for viral reactivation by determining alanine aminotransferase and HBV DNA levels every 3 months. No conclusive data are available for interleukin-17 and interleukin-23 inhibitors. Anti-hepatitis B core antigen-positive patients treated with tumor necrosis factor-α inhibitors, ustekinumab, and cyclosporine are linked to a moderate risk of reactivation, and they should preferably undergo HBV DNA or hepatitis B surface antigen and alanine aminotransferase testing rather than be subjected to routine pre-emptive therapy. Anti-hepatitis B core antigen-positive patients receiving methotrexate, acitretin, or apremilast have a low risk of reactivation and do not require anti-HBV therapy, nor should monitoring be considered mandatory. No conclusive data are available for interleukin-17 and interleukin-23 inhibitors.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder mediated by the T-cell–related immune response. Psoriatic patients may have a variety of comorbidities, but their risk of end-stage renal disease (ESRD), particularly according to the subtype of psoriasis, is unclear. We investigated the risk of ESRD in patients with psoriasis according to the subtype of psoriasis and history of systemic therapy for psoriasis. A total of 2,121,228 adults (1,590,921 in the control group and 530,307 in the psoriasis group) were enrolled in this nationwide population-based cohort study until 2015. During follow-up, 1,434 of the subjects in the psoriasis group developed ESRD. After adjusting for confounding factors, psoriasis was associated with the risk of ESRD (hazard ratio (HR) 1.58, 95% confidence interval [95% CI] 1.47–1.68). The psoriatic arthritis group (HR 7.60, 95% CI 1.90–30.41) had a higher risk of ESRD than the control group. Interestingly, no such association was detected in the systemically treated group (HR 1.07, 95% CI 0.80–1.41). Moreover, the acitretin-treated group had a lower risk of ESRD (HR 0.658, 95% CI, 0.494–0.875) than the non-systemically treated group. In conclusion, the risk of developing ESRD in patients with psoriasis differed according to the type of treatment and the presence of arthritis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The association between psoriasis and Parkinson disease has not been established. OBJECTIVE To determine the incidence rates and risk factors of Parkinson disease in patients with psoriasis. METHODS We conducted a nationwide population-based cohort study. The data from patients with psoriasis (N = 548,327, ≥20 years of age, 53.32% men and 46.68% women) and age- and sex-matched control patients (N = 2,741,635) without psoriasis were analyzed in this study. RESULTS The incidence rates of Parkinson disease per 1000 person-years were 0.673 and 0.768 in the control and psoriasis groups, respectively. The psoriasis group showed a significantly increased risk of developing Parkinson disease (hazard ratio [HR] 1.091, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.029-1.115). The risk of Parkinson disease was significantly higher among the psoriasis patients who were not receiving systemic therapy (HR 1.093, 95% CI 1.031-1.159) and lower among the psoriasis patients on systemic therapy (HR 1.04, 95% CI 0.806-1.316). LIMITATIONS The limitations of this study included the retrospective design, patient inclusion solely on the basis of diagnostic codes, and unavailability of data on confounding factors. CONCLUSION Systemic anti-inflammatory agents might mitigate the risk of Parkinson disease in psoriasis patients.

Abstract
Acitretin is widely used to treat psoriasis, but the efficacy varies significantly among individuals. To explore the association between polymorphisms and acitretin efficacy, we enrolled 46 and 105 Chinese Han psoriasis vulgaris patients for discovery and validation phases, respectively. The patients were treated with acitretin (30 mg/day) and calcipotriol ointment for at least 8 weeks, and their genotypes were detected. The wild-type genes and variants were transfected into HEK293 cells, which were then incubated with acitretin. The cellular acitretin concentration was measured by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. We found that the polymorphisms rs4149056 in the SLCO1B1 gene and rs2282143 in the SLC22A1 gene were associated with efficacy, both in the discovery (P = 0.013 and P = 0.002) and validation phases (P = 0.028 and P = 0.014), based on a 50% reduction from before to after treatment of the psoriasis area severity index (PASI50). When the PASI75 was used as an efficacy cutoff, a similar conclusion was drawn. The uptake of acitretin was lower with the rs4149056C (P = 0.002) and rs2282143T alleles (P = 0.038) than the wild-type alleles. Our results imply that the rs4149056C and rs2282143T variants decrease the acitretin uptake, and significantly associated with clinical effective responsiveness.

Abstract
Aim: VEGF and EGF are assumed to be involved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, while the impacts of their polymorphisms on psoriasis are inconsistent. Therefore, we hope to clarify these relationships in the Chinese Han population. Methods: A total of 131 patients with psoriasis vulgaris and 176 controls were enrolled. The polymorphisms rs833061 (T > C), rs10434 (G > A) in VEGFA, and rs4444903 (G > A), rs2237051 (A > G) in EGF of each participant were detected. The patients were treated with calcipotriol plus acitretin 30 mg/day for 8 weeks. Results: No SNPs of rs833061, rs10434, rs4444903 and rs2237051 were found to be associated with psoriasis susceptibility and efficacy. Although the mutation of rs10434A was associated with baseline disease severity (p = 0.026), and rs2237051G allele was associated with increased erythema during treatment (p = 0.015). Conclusion: The allele of rs2237051 G increased the erythema during the treatment, and no polymorphism of VEGF and EGF gene was found to be associated with the susceptibility and efficacy in psoriasis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Moderate-to-severe psoriasis frequently requires long-term systemic therapy. Reflecting efficacy, safety, and treatment satisfaction, drug survival is an indicator of therapeutic success. The objective of the present study was to assess drug survival rates and reasons for discontinuation of fumaric acid esters (FAE), methotrexate (MTX), acitretin (ACI), cyclosporine A (CyA), adalimumab (ADA), etanercept (ETA), infliximab (INF), and ustekinumab (UST) in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis. PATIENTS AND METHODS We performed a retrospective analysis of 373 patients who had received a total of 696 treatment courses at a German university hospital in the period 1/2003-5/2014. RESULTS The crude probability of survival was highest for UST, followed by ADA, ETA, INF, FAE, MTX, ACI, and CyA. In multivariate regression analysis using FAE as reference, hazard ratios (HR) for discontinuation were 0.14 (95 % confidence interval: 0.06-0.35) for UST, 0.43 (0.26-0.73) for ADA, 2.11 (1.14-3.91) for ACI, and 3.26 (1.44-7.39) for CyA. INF showed longer survival when combined with MTX (HR 2.87, 1.21-6.81). Traditional systemic antipsoriatic agents as well as INF were most frequently discontinued due to adverse events; all other biologics, due to inefficacy with respect to cutaneous lesions. CONCLUSIONS Drug survival rates should be integrated into therapeutic decisions in order to provide patients with an optimal long-term strategy.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin which can occur at any age-group. Psoriasis in childhood is not uncommon and has genetic susceptibility but usually, an environmental trigger such as infection is thought to initiate the disease process. Pediatric psoriasis has profound effects on both physical and psychosocial health of the patient. Treatment of mild psoriasis can be done with topical therapies but those which do not respond to topical therapies can be treated with phototherapy and systemic therapies. The use of systemic therapies in childhood is mainly based on the published data, case series, expert opinion and the experience as there is the lack of controlled trials in the age group. Based on the experience retinoids are probably the second line drugs for the treatment of pediatric psoriasis which do not respond to topical therapies and phototherapy. Using acitretin in a low dose and with proper physical examinations and laboratory investigations will reduce the hazard of potential serious adverse events. This article gives the review of the use of acitretin in pediatric psoriasis.

Abstract
Acitretin has been a valuable option for the treatment of psoriasis, however, the molecular events of acitretin leading to the normalization of keratinocytes differentiation on psoriasis patients have not been fully explored. To investigate whether there were certain relationship between keratinocytes proliferation and JAK/STAT signaling pathways in psoriasis, and how acitretin modulated the signaling pathways. HaCaT cells, an in vitro immortal human keratinocyte cell line, was chosen as a in vitro model of psoriasis. The small interfering RNA targeting STAT1 (siRNA-STAT1) and STAT3 (siRNA-STAT3) were subsequently transfected into the HaCaT cells which were treated with or without acitretin. We found that HaCaT cells proliferation and the expression of STAT1 or STAT3 were inhibited by acitretin, siRNA-STAT1 and siRNA-STAT3. Our experimental data shows that acitretin might inhibit HaCaT cells proliferation in psoriasis by decreasing the expression of STAT- and STAT3-dependent mechanism.

Abstract
Both acitretin and methotrexate are effective in ameliorating psoriatic lesion. However, their combination has been seldom reported in the treatment of psoriasis because of the warning regarding the potential hepatotoxicity of the drug interactions. This study was designed to investigate the effectiveness of such combination therapy for psoriasis vulgaris, and the potential benefit as well as side effect during the treatment. Thirty-nine patients with psoriasis vulgaris were treated with acitretin, methotrexate or their combination or as control. Similarly, K14-VEGF transgenic psoriasis-like mice were treated with these drugs. Human primary keratinocytes and hepatic stellate cells were used for analyzing their effect in vitro. The results showed that the combination therapy exhibited higher effectiveness in remitting skin lesion, but did not significantly affect the liver function of both patients and mice. Moreover, the combination groups showed less elevation of profibrotic factors in sera when compared with methotrexate alone groups accordingly. Furthermore, primary keratinocytes expressed more involucrin as well as loricrin and proliferated more slowly on the combined stimulation. Interestingly, such combination treatment induced lower expression of profibrotic factors in hepatic stellate cells. In conclusion, the acitretin-methotrexate combination therapy for psoriasis vulgaris can achieve higher effectiveness and result in less liver fibrosis.

Abstract
Acitretin is one of the systemic agents used for the treatment of psoriasis. Because different acitretin dosages resulted therapeutically successful, there is no general agreement on the optimal dose regimen. To report acitretin efficacy and safety in a real-life setting, wherein patient-tailored dose regimen is usually prescribed, a retrospective analysis evaluating charts of all plaque-type psoriasis patients treated with acitretin from the clinic database was performed. PASI score improvement, as well as PASI 50, 75, 90, and 100 responses were assessed throughout the observational period. Overall, 52% PASI score reduction and a satisfactory safety profile were detected. PASI 50, 75, 90, and 100 response was achieved by 53%, 48%, 28%, and 14%, respectively. Treatment consisted on a mean daily acitretin dose of 25.01 mg. The initial dose was increased (51.2% of cases) or decreased (48.8%) prescribing a mean daily dose of 29.8 mg and 20.02 mg, respectively. This study proposed a dose regimen customized on clinical response and patient's needs, to optimized acitretin benefit.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Acitretin is licensed for and is most commonly used to treat psoriasis. Little information exists about its efficacy and safety in childhood and adolescent psoriasis. METHODS Retrospective analysis of a group of children and adolescents (<17 years of age) with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis treated with acitretin between 2010 and 2014 at Italian dermatology clinics. Patients were identified through databases or registries. RESULTS The study population consisted of 18 patients with a median age of 9.5 years at the start of therapy. The median maintenance dosage per day was 0.41 mg/kg. Eight patients (44.4%) achieved complete clearance or good improvement of their psoriasis, defined as improvement from baseline of 75% or more on the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index at week 16. Three had three or more courses of treatment with short disease-free intervals. In three patients, acitretin treatment was ongoing at the time of data collection. The mean total duration of treatment in responders was 22.7 months. One patient discontinued treatment because of arthralgia. The remaining nine patients (50%) discontinued treatment because it was ineffective. Mucocutaneous adverse effects occurred in all patients, but did not affect therapy maintenance. CONCLUSIONS In this retrospective case series, acitretin was a moderately effective, well-tolerated treatment in children with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. Given the small number of patients, statements about long-term safety are not possible.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES Patients with psoriasis often have comorbidities, including other immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs), and cardiovascular risk factors. In this article we describe the baseline prevalence of comorbidities-including other IMIDs-in a cohort of patients with psoriasis. PATIENTS AND METHODS AQUILES was a prospective observational multicenter study of 3 patient cohorts (patients with psoriasis, spondyloarthritis, or inflammatory bowel disease) undertaken to investigate the prevalence of comorbidities, including other IMIDs, in these settings. The psoriasis cohort comprised patients aged at least 18 years who were seen in hospital dermatology clinics. A predefined protocol was used to collect demographic and clinical data. RESULTS The study enrolled 528 patients with psoriasis (60.2% men and 39.8% women). Mean age was 46.7 years; 89.8% of the participants had plaque psoriasis, and the median Psoriasis Area Severity Index score (PASI) was 3.2 (1.5-7.4). Comorbid IMIDs were present in 82 (15.5%) of the patients (CI 95%, 12.7%-18.9%). Spondyloarthritis was observed in 14% of patients (95% CI, 11.3%-17.2%), mostly in the form of psoriatic arthritis, for which the overall prevalence was 13.1% (95% CI, 10.5%-16.2%). Inflammatory bowel disease was present in 1.3% (95% CI, 0.6%-2.7%) and uveitis in .2% (95% CI, 0.1%-1.4%). Psoriatic arthritis was associated with male sex (odds ratio, 1.75 [.98-2.98]) and a disease duration of over 8 years (OR, 4.17 [1.84-9.44] vs a duration of < 4 years). In 73.1%, at least 1 cardiovascular risk factor was identified: smoking (40.5%), obesity (26.0%), dyslipidemia (24.8%), hypertension (24.3%), and diabetes mellitus (12.3%). CONCLUSION In patients with psoriasis the prevalence of other IMIDs was 15.5%, a level slightly higher than that found in the general population. Nearly three-quarters of these patients had at least 1 cardiovascular risk factor.
