Abstract
BACKGROUND 17.9 million deaths worldwide were attributable to cardiovascular diseases. Basic life support is one of the crucial strategies that could increase chances of cardiac arrest victims' survival rate by nurses and other healthcare providers. AIM The aims of this study was to examine the retention of the BLS knowledge among nurses in Palestine. METHODS A descriptive cross-sectional design was used to collect data from 108 nurses between February 2022 and April 2022 from two AHA-ITCs in Palestine. The instrument consisted of two sections; demographics and knowledge test which was developed by the researcher and contain a written examination containing 25 multiple-choice questions. RESULTS Out of 160 distributed questionnaires, 108 were completed by nurses as a convenience sampling technique. Over half of the participants were male (54.6%), and the majority had a bachelor's degree in nursing (75%). Analysis identified that there was a significant difference (t (107) = 18.02, p < 0.001) and less knowledge score in the year 2022 (M = 65.48, SD = 15.42), compared to the year 2020 (M = 92.09, SD = 4.01). The mean knowledge reduction was 26.61 and P < 0.001. The results showed no statistically significant differences in terms of level of BLS knowledge in all sociodemographic, except the level of education. CONCLUSIONS The results of this study revealed weak retention of BLS knowledge among nurses in Palestine between the years 2020 and the year of 2022. Nurses must regularly participate in BLS training and attend frequent in-service CPR training at least every 6-months to decrease the likelihood of knowledge and skills loss over time. Blended learning BLS is one of the methods to retain more knowledge and skills of BLS.

Abstract
Background Healthcare providers must possess the necessary knowledge and skills to perform effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). In the event of cardiopulmonary arrest, basic life support (BLS) is the initial step in the life-saving process before the advanced CPR team arrives. BLS simulation training using manikins has become an essential teaching methodology in nursing education, enhancing newly employed nurses' knowledge and skills and empowering them to provide adequate resuscitation. Objective This study aimed to evaluate the potential effect of BLS simulation training on knowledge and practice scores among newly employed nurses in Jordanian government hospitals. Methods A total of 102 newly employed nurses were randomly assigned to two groups: the control group (n = 51) received standard training, and the experimental group (n = 51) received one full day of BLS simulation training. The training program used the American Heart Association (AHA)-BLS-2020 guidelines and integrated theoretical models such as Miller's Pyramid and Kolb's Cycle. Both groups were homogeneous in inclusion characteristics and pretest results. Knowledge and practice scores were assessed using 23 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Data were analyzed using one-way repeated measures ANOVA. Results The results indicated significant differences in knowledge scores, F(2, 182) = 58.514, p <0.001, and practice scores, F(2, 182) = 20.134, p <0.001, between the control and experimental groups at all measurement times: pretest, posttest 1, and posttest 2. Moreover, Cohen's d reflected the effectiveness of BLS simulation training as an educational module, showing a large effect (Cohen's d = 1.568) on participants' knowledge levels and a medium effect (Cohen's d = 0.749) on participants' practice levels. Conclusion The study concludes that BLS simulation training using the AHA-BLS-2020 guidelines and integrating theoretical models such as Miller's Pyramid and Kolb's Cycle significantly improves knowledge and practice scores among newly employed nurses, proving highly effective in enhancing their competencies in performing CPR. Implementing BLS simulation training in nursing education programs can significantly elevate the proficiency of newly employed nurses, ultimately improving patient outcomes during cardiopulmonary arrest situations. This training approach should be integrated into standard nursing curricula to ensure nurses are well-prepared for real-life emergencies. Trial Registry Number NCT06001879.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nurse motivation can have a significant impact on the quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the patients' survival. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine nurses' motivation for performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. METHODS This cross-sectional study focused on 217 nurses in a teaching hospital in Iran, in 2023. A random sample of nurses was selected from four hospital departments (emergency, critical care, medical, and surgery). These nurses completed the demographic information and motivation for cardiopulmonary resuscitation questionnaires. The data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney, Spearman coefficients, and Kruskal-Wallis and multiple linear regression tests. RESULTS The mean score of the dimension of the feeling of achievement (4.10 ± 0.50) was high in the nurses' motivation for performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. There were more motivational factors in the emergency department compared to the other departments in terms of the feeling of achievement, high chance of success, low chances of success, recognition and appreciation, perceived importance, and beliefs (p < 0.05). The nurses who had participated in cardiopulmonary resuscitation workshops and had a bachelor's degree had a higher mean score in the dimension of perceived importance (p < 0.05). The correlation coefficient showed that there was a significant negative correlation between the nurses' frequency of participation in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and their motivation scores in the dimensions of the feeling of achievement(r=-0.170), low chances of success(r=-0.183), perceived importance (r = -0.302), and beliefs (r = -0.250; p < 0.05). The department variable predicted the motivation score in the dimensions of feeling of achievement, high chance of success, low chance of success, perceived importance, and beliefs. The sex variable predicted the motivation score in the dimensions of facilitator of resuscitation and high chance of success. Besides, the variable of years of membership in the CPR team predicted the motivation score in the feeling of achievement and high chance of success (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION Nurses would be more motivated to perform a quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation if they had a feeling of success. The nurses' motivation was affected by certain factors such as their department, sex, education level, years of membership in CPR team, number of participation in CPR, and participation in educational workshops.

Abstract
Background Cardiac diseases are among the leading causes of death worldwide, including sudden cardiac arrest in particular. Nursing professionals are often the first to encounter these scenarios in various settings. Adequate preparation and competent knowledge among nurses significantly impact survival rates positively. Aim To describe the state of knowledge about Basic and Advanced Life Support guidelines among Ecuadorian nursing professionals. Methodology A nationwide, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted from February to April 2023 among Ecuadorian nursing professionals. Participants were invited through official social media groups such as WhatsApp and Facebook. The study utilized a self-administered online questionnaire to evaluate theoretical knowledge of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS). Knowledge scores were assigned based on the number of correct answers on the tests. T-tests and one-way ANOVA were used to examine relationships between knowledge scores and demographic and academic training variables. Results A total of 217 nursing professionals participated in the study. The majority of the participants were female (77.4%) and held a university degree (79.9%). Among them, only 44.7% claimed to have obtained a BLS training certificate at least once, and 19.4% had ALS certification. The overall BLS knowledge score (4.8/10 ± 1.8 points) was higher than the ALS score (4.3/10 ± 1.8 points). Participants who had obtained BLS certification and those who used evidence-based summaries as a source of extracurricular training achieved higher BLS and ALS knowledge scores. Conclusion Ecuadorian nursing professionals in this study exhibited a significant deficiency in theoretical knowledge of BLS and ALS. Formal training and preparation positively impact life support knowledge. Support and inclusion of Ecuadorian nurses in training and academic preparation programs beginning at the undergraduate level are essential for promoting life support knowledge and improving outcomes.

Abstract
Introduction: In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (IHCA) is a frequent occurrence that necessitates prompt and appropriate assistance to improve survival rates. Nurses in public care rooms and outpatients are expected to be first responders to IHCA until an activated hospital code blue team arrives. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the implementation of code blue response by nurses in outpatient and hospital inpatient rooms in Malang.
Design and Methods: This is a quantitative study that uses observational methods with a cross-sectional approach comprising of 109 inpatient and outpatient care room nurses from 9 hospitals in Malang. The implementation of code blue was measured by a simulated case of adult cardiac arrest in a hospital inpatient room.
Results: The nurses involved were 67.0% female, where the majority have a D3 education qualification (57.7%), with more than ten years working experience (45%). Furthermore, 83.5% of nurses work in regular care rooms and 16.5% come from outpatient rooms. The results showed that the implementation of code blue by nurses in regular care and inpatient rooms was 66.7% and 65.9%, respectively in the insufficient categories. In addition, the Mann-Whitney U test obtained a p-value of 0.929.
Conclusions: In conclusion, there was no significant difference in the implementation of code blue that occurred in the inpatient and outpatient rooms. Further studies were recommended to observe code blue events directly and take samples with balanced proportions.

Abstract
Background Nurses play a key role in cases of cardiopulmonary arrest by promptly attending to and initiating cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation thus requires nurses to possess appropriate attitudes, competencies, and adherence to the best nursing practice. Cardiac arrests are a prevalent cause of fatalities, being responsible for approximately 30% of deaths worldwide. Despite this statistic, however, research in this specific field is lacking in Namibia. Objective The objective of this research was to examine registered nurses' knowledge, attitudes toward, and practice with regard to cardiopulmonary resuscitation at a selected teaching hospital in Namibia. Methods A cross-sectional survey design using a self-administered questionnaire was utilized to purposively recruit 158 registered nurses from the inpatient and outpatient departments of a teaching hospital in Namibia. Descriptive and chi-square tests were performed using SPSSv26. Results The results of the study indicate that a significant percentage of nurses have limited knowledge (14.7 ± 1.50), negative attitudes (36.2 ± 4.8), and poor practice (11.16 ± 1.18) when it comes to cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Their poor knowledge is strongly associated with poor practice (χ2 = 9.162, P = .002). The study further revealed a significant correlation between the departments in which the nurses worked and their practice of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, suggesting that the work environment is a crucial factor in determining a nurse's approach to emergency care. Conclusion The findings of study indicate that the cardiopulmonary resuscitation practice in the selected hospital is unsafe due to the registered nurses' poor knowledge and negative attitudes. It is strongly recommended that hospital managers and policy-makers take steps to formulate guidelines that mandate regular cardiopulmonary resuscitation training at predetermined times.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Simulation-based nursing training has been used incorporated into nursing education for decades, however, there is limited information related to simulation research hotspots and theme trends over time. OBJECTIVES To investigate the research hotspots and theme trends of simulation in nursing education through bibliometric analysis. METHODS Relevant articles on simulation in nursing education published between 2005 and 2019 were retrieved from PubMed. The Bibliographic Item Co-occurrence Matrix Builder (BICOMB) was used to extract and quantitatively analyze the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms and subheadings. The biclustering analysis was conducted using gCluto1.0 to identify the research hotspots. A strategic diagram was employed to reveal the development trend of the theme. RESULTS A total of 4102 publications were retrieved from PubMed showing an overall increasing trend. Based on the results, the United States was the most productive country (2868,55.7 %), the journal Nurse Education Today journal was the top journal concerning this field, and Cooper SJ and Holtschneider ME were authors with the highest number of publications on this topic. Quantitative and co-word biclustering analyses were used in this study. The research hotspots in recent 5 years were focused on: (1) interprofessional simulation in patient-care teams; (2) patient simulation in psychiatric nursing education; (3) virtual reality simulation (VRS) in midwifery and nursing education; (4) simulation in critical care nurses' continuing education/training, and (5) simulation in pediatric resuscitation education. The strategic diagram showed that the VRS in midwifery and nursing education might have a significant potential to become an emerging hotspot soon. CONCLUSION The research literature production of simulation in nursing education was increasing over the past 15 years. Through co-word biclustering analysis, five research hotspots were identified. Among them, simulation in psychiatric education and critical care continuing education had a central priority that researchers should pay further attention to, and VRS could be the major trend for future study. Furthermore, this study described the overall range of research interests and provided ideas for innovative and efficient research projects.
