Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to investigate changes in objective vision quality in mesopic environments in teenagers with myopia after wearing orthokeratology (OK) lenses. METHODS This prospective clinical study included 45 patients (80 eyes) who received OK lenses at the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University from March 2021 to September 2021. An Optical Path Difference-Scan III refractive power/corneal analyzer was used to determine the corneal topographic parameters (corneal e, corneal Q, surface asymmetry index (SAI), and surface regularity index (SRI)), higher-order aberrations (HOAs), axial length (AL) change, lens decentration, induced astigmatism, target power, and Strehl ratio (SR) in a mesopic visual environment after wearing OK lenses for 6 months. In addition, corneal morphological parameters, HOAs, and SR were analyzed in a mesopic visual environment. Finally, we investigated the correlations among corneal morphology, HOAs, AL change, lens decentration, induced astigmatism, and SR. RESULTS The SAI value was significantly higher ( P <0.01), and the corneal e was significantly lower ( P <0.01), in a mesopic visual environment after wearing OK lenses for 1 week than baseline. A significant increase was observed in total HOAs and spherical aberrations, compared with before the OK lenses were worn ( P <0.01). In addition, SR in the mesopic visual environment decreased significantly after wearing the lenses ( P <0.01). No significant differences were observed ( P >0.05) among the 1-week, 1-month, 3-month, and 6-month follow-up findings. After 6 months, AL and lens decentration did not differ significantly compared with before ( P >0.05), whereas induced astigmatism significantly increased ( P <0.05). Negative correlations were observed between corneal Q, SAI, SRI, HOAs, induced astigmatism, and SR, and positive correlations were found between corneal e, AL change, lens decentration, and SR, after wearing OK lenses. KEY POINTS • Wearing orthokeratology lenses significantly altered corneal morphology and HOAs in myopic teenagers within 1 week. • The changes that we observed in the eyes of adolescents with myopia after wearing orthokeratology lenses decreased vision quality in mesopic environments. • Strehl ratio is significantly correlated with multiple parameters, including HOAs, AL change, and lens decentration. CONCLUSIONS In teenagers with myopia wearing OK lenses, significant changes in vision quality and corneal morphology were observed, leading to increased aberrations and affecting optical imaging quality. Furthermore, SR is significantly correlated with multiple parameters, including HOAs, AL change, and lens decentration. Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate the impact of aspheric base curve (BC)-designed orthokeratology (ortho-k) (AOK) lenses on higher-order aberrations (HOA) at different pupil diameters and visual performance. METHODS This prospective clinical study included subjects randomized to wear spherical BC-designed ortho-k (SOK) or AOK lenses. The Pediatric Refractive Error Profile (PREP) questionnaire was completed before and after 3 months of lens wear. The Strehl ratio (SR) and root mean square of ocular higher-order aberrations (HOAs), spherical aberration (SA), coma, and trefoil were measured under 4-mm, 5-mm, and 6-mm pupil diameters at baseline and 3-month visits. Corneal topography, uncorrected low-contrast (LC) visual acuity (VA), and high-contrast (HC) VA were measured at baseline and at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, and 3 month follow-ups. RESULTS Sixty-five participants completed the study. After 3 months with the ortho-k lens, there were no significant differences in ocular HOA, SA, coma, or trefoil between the SOK group and AOK group at 4-mm, 5-mm, and 6-mm pupil diameters (all P>0.05), except for a significant increase in SA in the AOK group (P=0.01). Stratified analyses showed that the AOK group exhibited greater HOA and SA at 5-mm and 6-mm pupil diameters in the lower myopia subgroup and greater SA at 6 mm in the higher myopia subgroup (all P<0.05). There were no significant differences between the groups in SR, HC VA, LC VA, or PREP scores (all P>0.05). CONCLUSION Aspheric BC-designed ortho-k lenses produced a significantly greater SA than SOK lenses, with more significance at lower diopters, without sacrificing subjective visual performance.

Abstract
Purpose To investigate changes in shape discrimination under mesopic conditions with and without glare after orthokeratology in myopic children. Methods This prospective study included 79 eyes of 79 myopic children (ages: 8-16 years). Shape discrimination thresholds (SDTs) were measured using radial frequency patterns, with a radial frequency of 4 cycles/360°, a peak spatial frequency of 3 cycles per degree, a contrast of 20%, and a mean radius of 1.5 degrees. SDT under mesopic conditions with and without glare was measured before orthokeratology and again at 1 week and 1 month after orthokeratology. Changes in the SDTs and their relationships to baseline ocular parameters were analyzed. Results SDTs with glare decreased significantly at 1 week (-0.08 ± 0.15 log(arcsec), P < 0.001) and 1 month (-0.09 ± 0.15 log(arcsec), P < 0.001) after orthokeratology. SDTs without glare remained stable (P = 0.81 and P = 1.00, respectively). The difference between SDTs with and without glare also decreased significantly at 1 week (-0.10 ± 0.17 log(arcsec), P < 0.001) and at 1 month (-0.08 ± 0.18 log(arcsec), P = 0.001) after orthokeratology. Based on a multivariate analysis, the greater decrease in SDT with glare after 1 month of orthokeratology was associated with a higher baseline spherical equivalent refraction. Conclusions Orthokeratology resulted in improved shape discrimination in myopic children under mesopic conditions but only when measured in the presence of glare.

Abstract
SIGNIFICANCE There are limited treatment options for myopia management of patients with moderate to high astigmatism. This work directly compares toric orthokeratology and soft toric multifocal lenses to show differences in visual acuity and patient satisfaction that could impact clinical care. Toric orthokeratology caused reduced visual acuity but was preferred subjectively for vision and overall. PURPOSE This study aimed to quantify objective and subjective clinical differences between toric orthokeratology and soft toric multifocal contact lenses in the same cohort of myopic wearers with moderate to high astigmatism. METHODS Thirty adults with refractive myopia (plano to -5.00 D) and astigmatism (1.25 to 3.50 D) were fitted empirically with both toric orthokeratology and soft toric multifocal contact lenses. Participants wore lenses for 10 days in random order, separated by a 14-day washout period. High-contrast visual acuity, low-contrast visual acuity, and glare logMAR visual acuity were measured. Surveys ascertained subject preference for comfort, vision, handling, and cost. Friedman, Wilcoxon signed rank, and χ2 tests were performed. RESULTS A subset of participants (n = 17) who achieved good vision with both lens types was analyzed. High-contrast and glare acuity with toric orthokeratology were reduced by one line compared with soft toric multifocal lenses (both 0.00 vs. -0.10, P ≤ .003). Participants preferred toric orthokeratology for vision ( P ≤ .03) but soft toric multifocal lenses for handling ( P ≤ .006). When forced to choose between lens types, participants preferred toric orthokeratology for vision and overall (both P ≤ .007). CONCLUSIONS Participants who achieved good vision with both lens types preferred toric orthokeratology over soft toric multifocal lenses, despite reduced high-contrast and glare visual acuity. Further research is needed to understand the relationship between visual performance and patient satisfaction.

Abstract
Purpose This study aimed to investigate the effect of orthokeratology (OK) on accommodative function and aberrations, to explore the correlations between them and determine what role they play in myopia control. Methods In this prospective case‐controlled study, 61 children were divided into an OK (n = 30) and a single‐vision spectacles (SVS) (n = 31) group. Accommodation and ocular wavefront aberrations in the OK group were measured at baseline and after 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months of OK wear, and again at 1 month after stopping OK (13th month). The same procedure was performed in the SVS group at baseline and at 3, 6 and 12 months. Axial length (AL), accommodative lag area and aberrations including spherical aberration (SA), coma and total higher‐order aberrations (HOAs) were analysed. Results During OK wear, the accommodative lag area at each visit was lower than the baseline level (all p < 0.01); all aberrations at each visit were higher than pre‐treatment (all p < 0.001). After 1 month of OK treatment, changes in accommodative lag area and SA did not show significant correlation (p = 0.16), but after OK cessation these changes were correlated (p = 0.01). In the OK group, multivariate regression analysis showed changes in accommodative lag area were associated with AL progression in the first 6 months but not in the 1‐year analysis. For the SVS group, there were no significant changes in the accommodative lag area or any aberrations during the study period. Conclusions Increased HOAs and improved accommodative accuracy were observed during OK treatment, but began to regress after the cessation of OK. A significant positive correlation between improved accommodative accuracy and slowed axial elongation was only observed during the first 6 months of treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Overnight orthokeratology (OOK) lenses are used to temporarily decrease myopic refractive error and improve uncorrected vision. Overnight orthokeratology lenses significantly increase ocular and corneal high-order aberrations (HOAs) and compromise contrast sensitivity function (CSF) to a degree correlated with myopic correction achieved. In Taiwan, OOK lenses are mainly used in children for myopia control. However, information regarding its effects in this population remains limited. This study discusses the change in HOAs and CSF after 28 nights of OOK lens use in children compared with that in adults. METHODS In total, 46 children (9-18 years) and 26 adults (>18 years) who visited Ophthalmology Department of Mackay Memorial Hospital from October to December 2013 were enrolled. Contrast sensitivity and ocular/corneal total high-order, coma, and spherical aberrations (SA) were tested before OOK treatment. After 28 days of overnight use, CSF and topography were reexamined, and data were collected and analyzed using t test and Pearson correlation coefficients. RESULTS In total, 23 eyes of 23 children and 14 eyes of 14 adults were evaluated. The treatment resulted in a significant increase in ocular total HOA, coma, and SA in both groups. However, CSF declined more in adults than children. CONCLUSION Our study revealed that OOK lenses decrease CSF to a greater extent in adults than that in children despite no significant differences in the change of ocular HOAs between both subject groups. We proposed children may have better neural adaptation to compensate for optical aberrations induced by OOK lens use.

Abstract
Orthokeratology offers the unique possibility of correcting myopia: a special reverse geometry contact lens used exclusively during sleeping hours at nighttime. The authors give a comprehensive overview about the evolving technique, including the careful selection of patients, and practical contact lens fitting. They explain a series of daily life situations and point out dos and don'ts. Limitations of orthokeratology are highlighted with regard to refraction errors and anatomical conditions. Early regression and glare due to corneal aberrations are common negative side effects. Critical complications like bacterial keratitis, ocular surface disorders, and morphologic changes through corneal molding as corneal hypoesthesia and ferritin deposits are considered. Emerging applications are discussed: correction of presbyopia, corneal crosslinking to stabilize the ortho-k effect, myopia control in children, topographically controlled and individualized contact lens geometries using advanced contact lens materials. Legal regulations concerning the driving permission are outlined. Nevertheless, orthokeratology seems to be a well-established niche technology predominantly useful in young, healthy, and active myopic patients. The fitting and care of this refractive tool is demanding and costly. However, these lenses fill the gap between every day conventional contact lens and surgical refractive methods. Another growing application of high interest is myopia control in children.

Abstract
Purpose To investigate changes in blur detection sensitivity in children using orthokeratology (Ortho-K) and explore the relationships between blur detection thresholds (BDTs) and aberrations and accommodative function. Methods Thirty-two children aged 8–14 years old who underwent Ortho-K treatment participated in and completed this study. Their BDTs, aberrations, and accommodative responses (ARs) were measured before and after a month of Ortho-K treatment. A two forced-choice double-staircase procedure with varying extents of blur in three images (Tumbling Es, Lena, and Street View) was used to measure the BDTs. The participants were required to judge whether the images looked blurry. The BDT of each of the images (BDT_Es, BDT_Lena, and BDT_Street) was the average value of the last three reversals. The accommodative lag was quantified by the difference between the AR and the accommodative demand (AD). Changes in the BDTs, aberrations, and accommodative lags and their relationships were analyzed. Results After a month of wearing Ortho-K lenses, the children’s BDT_Es and BDT_Lena values decreased, the aberrations increased significantly (for all, P ≤0.050), and the accommodative lag decreased to a certain extent [T(31) = 2.029, P = 0.051]. Before Ortho-K treatment, higher-order aberrations (HOAs) were related to BDT_Lena (r = 0.463, P = 0.008) and the accommodative lag was related to BDT_Es (r = −0.356, P = −0.046). After one month, no significant correlations were found between the BDTs and aberrations or accommodative lags, as well as between the variations of them (for all, P ≥ 0.069). Conclusion Ortho-K treatment increased the children’s level of blur detection sensitivity, which may have contributed to their good visual acuity.

Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of two months of orthokeratology (OK) treatment in the accommodative response of young adult myopes. Twenty eyes (21.8 ± 1.8 years) were fitted with the Paragon CRT® 100 LENS to treat myopia between −1.00 and −2.00 D. Low- and high-contrast visual acuity (LCDVA and HCDVA), central objective refraction, light disturbance (LD), and objective accommodative response (using the Grand Seiko WAM-5500 open-field autorefractometer coupled with a Badal system) were measured at baseline (BL) before lens wear and after 1, 15, 30, and 60 nights of OK. Refractive error correction was achieved during the first fifty days of OK lens wear, with minimal changes afterwards. LD analysis showed a transient increase followed by a reduction to baseline levels over the first 30 nights of treatment. The accommodative response was lower than expected for all target vergences in all visits (BL: 0.61 D at 1.00 D to 0.96 D at 5.00 D; 60 N: 0.36 D at 1.00 D to 0.79 D at 5.00 D). On average, the accommodative lag decreases over time with OK lens wear. However, these differences were not statistically significant (p > 0.050, repeated-measures ANOVA and Friedman test). This shows that overnight OK treatment does not affect objectively measured the accommodative response of young, low myopic eyes after two months of treatment stabilization.

Abstract
Purpose To compare visual function of myopic children who had worn either defocus incorporated multiple segment (DIMS) spectacle lenses or single vision (SV) spectacle lenses over two years. Methods We included 160 Chinese myopic (−1 diopter [D] to −5 D) children aged 8 to 13 years in a randomized clinical trial; they wore either DIMS lenses (DIMS; n = 79) or regular SV spectacles lenses (n = 81) full time for 2 years. Visual function, including high-contrast visual acuity (VA) and low-contrast VA at distance and near, binocular functions, and accommodation, before, during, and after 2 years of spectacle wear were assessed when both groups wore SV corrections. Changes of visual function between the two groups and within groups were compared. Results There were no statistically significant differences in the 2-year visual function changes between DIMS and SV groups (repeated measures analysis of variance with group as factor; P > 0.05). Statistically significant improvement in the best-corrected distance high-contrast VA (P < 0.001) and stereoacuity score (P < 0.001) were found after DIMS lens wear over 2 years. Similar findings were observed after SV spectacle lens wear. For both the DIMS and SV groups, there were statistically significant decreases in accommodative lag, monocular and binocular amplitude of accommodation after two years (P < 0.01), but not in the changes in distance low-contrast VA, near high-contrast VA, near low-contrast VA, or phoria. Conclusions Although changes in some visual function were shown during 2 years of DIMS lens wear, similar changes were found with SV lens wear. Wear of DIMS spectacle lenses for 2 years does not adversely affect major visual function when children return to SV corrections. Translational Relevance DIMS spectacle lenses did not cause any adverse effects on visual function.

Abstract
Purpose: To measure changes in visual performances and optical quality in myopic children during the first month of wearing orthokeratology lens, and to reveal the association between those two.Methods: Thirty-five myopic children participated in this study. Visual performances were evaluated with visual acuity and shape discrimination threshold (SDT) for radial frequency patterns. Placido disc-based corneal topography for central 4 mm and 6 mm zones was collected and decomposed by Fourier analysis into the spherical, asymmetric, and regular astigmatic components. Root-mean-square of third-order, fourth-order, and total higher-order aberrations (HOA) were extracted for the 4 mm and 6 mm zones. All examinations were conducted at baseline, 1-week, and 1-month after lens dispensing. The changing trends over time and association between SDT and optical quality were analysed with linear-mixed model.Results: All subjects' uncorrected visual acuity improved to 0.1 logMAR or better at 1-week and 1-month lens wear (P < .01). SDT did not change significantly from the baseline at 1-week and 1-month after lens wear (P > .05). For the two zones with diameters of 4 mm and 6 mm, the spherical component decreased significantly at 1-week (P < .01) and remained stable thereafter (P < .01); the asymmetric component increased significantly at 1-week (P < .01) and remained high at 1-month (P < .01); and the regular astigmatism did not show any significant change throughout (P > .05). At the two zones with diameters of 4 mm and 6 mm, the third-order, fourth-order, and total HOA increased significantly over time (P < .05). Change of SDT did not correlate with impairments in optical quality (P > .05 for all parameters).Conclusions: While corneal optical quality decreased steadily during the first month following lens wearing, the visual acuity and shape discrimination sensitivity assessed by SDT remained very satisfactory.

Abstract
Purpose To investigate the interaction between corneal, internal, and total wavefront aberrations (WAs) and their influential factors during orthokeratology (OK) treatment in Chinese adolescents. Methods Thirty teenagers (n = 30 eyes) were enrolled in the study; spherical equivalent refraction (SE), corneal curvature radius (CCR), central corneal thickness (CCT), WAs, and the difference in limbal transverse diameter and OK lens diameter (ΔLLD) were detected before and after one-month OK treatment. Every component of WAs was measured simultaneously by iTrace aberrometer. The influential factors of OK-induced WAs were analyzed. Results SE and CCT decreased while CCR increased significantly (P < 0.01). Higher-order aberrations (HOAs), Spherical aberrations (SAs), and coma increased significantly (P < 0.01). Corneal horizontal coma (Z31-C) and corneal spherical aberrations (Z40-C) increased (P < 0.01). The HOAs, coma, SAs, Z31-C, Z31-T, Z40-C, and Z40-T were positively correlated with SE and CCR (P < 0.01). Z3−1-C showed negative correlations with (ΔLLD) and positive correlations with SE (P < 0.05). Conclusions The increase in OK-induced HOAs is mainly attributed to Z31 and Z40 of cornea. Z3−1 in the internal component showed a compensative effect on the corneal vertical coma. The degree of myopic correction and increase in CCR may be the essential influential factors of the increase in Z31 and Z40. The appropriate size of the OK lens may be helpful to decrease OK-induced vertical coma.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the effect of lens fenestrations on the performance of orthokeratology lenses. METHODS Twenty-two subjects (aged 11 to 31 years) were fitted with identical reverse geometry orthokeratology lenses in the two eyes. One eye was randomly designated to wear a lens with three 0.20 mm fenestrations at 120° intervals placed at the junction of the reverse and alignment curves. The lens for the other eye was not fenestrated. Subjects were reviewed at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after fitting. Data were collected on refraction, visual performance, incidences and severity of corneal staining, lens binding, and corneal pigmented arc. RESULTS Fifteen subjects achieved full correction in OU. There were no statistically significant differences in refractive and corneal changes, visual performance, incidences and severity of corneal staining and corneal pigmented arc formation between the two eyes. The incidence of lens binding was consistently higher in eyes wearing non-fenestrated lenses but was not statistically significant. Severity of lens binding, however, was statistically significant at the 1-, 3-, 6- and 12-month visits, with the non-fenestrated lenses causing more severe binding. CONCLUSIONS The addition of fenestrations to orthokeratology lenses has no effect on the efficacy of the treatment or outcomes in low to moderate myopic subjects. However, the severity of lens binding is reduced. Fenestrating reverse geometry lenses may be of assistance in cases where lens binding is a problem.

Abstract
PURPOSE To compare intraocular straylight and contrast sensitivity determined before corneal refractive therapy and after 15 days and 1 month of treatment. METHODS A single-center, prospective, and longitudinal study was performed in 30 subjects undergoing corneal refractive therapy. In each subject, high-contrast visual acuity (HCVA), low-contrast visual acuity (LCVA), straylight, and contrast sensitivity were determined at baseline and after 15 days and 1 month after the treatment. Straylight was measured using the van den Berg straylight meter (third generation). Contrast sensitivity was determined under both photopic and mesopic conditions using the VCTS 6500 instrument (Vision Contrast Test System). EDTRS charts (logMAR units) were used to measure HCVA and LCVA. RESULTS Straylight (mean ± standard deviation) significantly fell from baseline (0.94 ± 0.14) to the values recorded at 1 month (0.85 ± 0.11, p = 0.009). Photopic contrast sensitivity remained stable yet mesopic contrast sensitivity measured at high spatial frequencies was significantly reduced. No correlations between intraocular straylight and contrast sensitivity, HCVA, or LCVA were observed 15 days and 1 month after corneal refractive therapy. CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest improved intraocular straylight readings 1 month after starting the treatment, although the changes observed in straylight could not be related to changes in mesopic and photopic contrast sensitivity or HCVA and LCVA. Mesopic contrast sensitivity was more affected by the treatment intervention than photopic contrast sensitivity.

Abstract
PURPOSE To examine the morphological and biometric corneal changes produced over periods of 15 days and 1 month after overnight orthokeratology (OK). METHODS Prospective, single-center, longitudinal trial. Twenty-seven right eyes of 27 subjects (group 1) with low to moderate myopia wore OK lenses for 1 month. Ten right eyes of 10 subjects (group 2) with emmetropia to low myopia who did not wear any type of contact lens served as controls. Corneal morphometric measurements were obtained in vivo using a confocal microscope to examine the central and midperipheral cornea. Thickness measurements in the peripheral cornea were obtained by optical coherence tomography. Changes in visual acuity, refractive error, and corneal topography were also analyzed. RESULTS No significant changes in either endothelial cell or stromal cell density were observed after 1 month of OK. Basal epithelial cells were, however, significantly reduced (P < 0.01), and epithelial wing and superficial cells showed enhanced visibility (P < 0.05). Superficial cells increased in height and width, the width increase after 1 month being significant (P < 0.01). Epithelial thickness was significantly reduced in the central cornea and 2 mm around the center. Corneal pachymetry increased significantly in the band from 5 to 10 mm from the corneal apex (P < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS OK lenses for myopia induce significant structural and optical changes particularly in the central epithelium after 15 days or 1 month of wear. The central corneal epithelium responds to OK wear by undergoing significant epithelial cell shape and size alterations with no effects, however, on the cells of the corneal endothelium or the corneal stroma. Peripheral corneal thickness increased with respect to baseline values. These findings suggest that the corneal epithelium is the principal structure affected by the mechanical forces exerted by the OK lenses.

Abstract
PURPOSE To compare ocular higher order aberrations induced by corneal refractive therapy (CRT, Paragon Vision) to those produced by LASIK for patients with comparable levels of myopia. METHODS A retrospective chart review of 11 patients who used CRT lenses and 12 patients who underwent LASIK for correction of low to moderate myopia was performed. Uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best spectacle-corrected visual acuity (BSCVA), manifest refraction, and optical higher order aberrations were recorded before and 1 month after treatment for each patient. RESULTS The CRT group consisted of 11 patients (4 men, 7 women) with a mean age of 29.1+/-5.2 years (range: 23 to 40 years), and the LASIK group consisted of 12 patients (3 men, 9 women) with a mean age of 39.2+/-12.0 years (range: 23 to 60 years). Manifest refraction decreased statistically significantly from -2.81+/-1.05 diopters (D) at baseline to -0.77+/-0.64 D following CRT treatment at 1 month (P<.0001) and from -3.11+/-1.21 D at baseline to -0.43+/-0.27 D at 1 month after LASIK (P<.0001). Both CRT and LASIK exhibited no significant changes in total higher order aberrations for 4-mm pupils but induced statistically significant increases in total higher order aberrations for 6-mm pupils. Corneal refractive therapy and LASIK both exhibited statistically similar factors of change for total higher order aberrations and coma-like higher order aberrations for 6-mm pupils. Corneal refractive therapy demonstrated a statistically significant greater factor of increase in spherical-like higher order aberrations for 6-mm pupils (P=.01). CONCLUSIONS Contact lens corneal refractive therapy and LASIK can effectively correct myopia, but both increase higher order aberrations for 6-mm pupils to a similar degree. However, spherical-like aberrations were statistically significantly greater after CRT than after LASIK.

PURPOSE To investigate relationship between mesopic contrast sensitivity (CS) function and ocular higher-order aberrations in eyes implanted with conventional spherical intraocular lenses (IOL). DESIGN Prospective, nonrandomized case series. METHODS Sixty-eight eyes of 48 patients who attained best spectacle-corrected visual acuity (BSCVA) of 20/20 or better after phacoemulsification and spherical IOL implantation were included in the study. At 2 months postoperatively, mesopic CS was measured with the Mesotest II (Oculus; Wetsler, Germany), and ocular higher-order aberrations for a 4-mm pupil were measured with the Hartmann-Shack aberrometer. CS and letter CS under photopic conditions were recorded with the CSV-1000 charts (Vector Vision Co, Greenville, Ohio, USA). RESULTS There was significant correlation between mesopic CS and ocular fourth-order root mean square (RMS) of wavefront aberration (Spearman r(s) = -0.293; P = .017), but no correlation was found between mesopic CS and ocular third-order RMS (r(s) = 0.196; P = .189). Ocular third- and fourth-order RMS did not correlate with other parameters, including BSCVA, and CS and letter CS under photopic conditions. CONCLUSIONS Mesopic CS is significantly associated with ocular fourth-order RMS of wavefront aberrations in eyes implanted with conventional spherical IOLs.
