Abstract
PURPOSE Existing measurements of the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) among practitioners in disability services often treat ICT adoption as a monolithic concept, overlooking its multifaceted nature within the disability field. This study introduces a stepped, inclusive approach to capturing this complexity, elucidating disparities in the utilization of various ICT dimensions, the present vs. anticipated use, and variations among different clinical-demographic groups. MATERIALS AND METHODS A cross-sectional survey was conducted in Hong Kong, gathering valid data from 324 practitioners spanning diverse disciplines and disability services. RESULTS Data analysis produced a three-factor model categorizing ICT tools into (1) information and communication tools, (2) screening and monitoring tools, and (3) treatment and rehabilitation tools. The first category was identified as the predominant ICT utilized currently, with significant projected growth in the latter two categories' usage. Variances in current ICT adoption were influenced by practitioners' roles, clientele, positions, affiliating agencies, and educational attainments. CONCLUSIONS This research provides a deeper understanding of the key dimensions of ICT adoption within disability services. It underscores the importance of devising specific and customized strategies for the effective integration of ICTs, ensuring a more tailored approach to meeting the unique demands of the disability field.

Abstract
Although supervised and real-time telerehabilitation by videoconferencing is now becoming common for people with Parkinson's disease (PD), its efficacy for balance and gait is still unclear. This paper uses a scoping approach to review the current evidence on the effects of telerehabilitation by videoconferencing on balance and gait for patients with PD. We also explored whether studies have used wearable technology during telerehabilitation to assess and treat balance and gait via videoconferencing. Literature searches were conducted using PubMed, ISI's Web of Knowledge, Cochrane's Library, and Embase. The data were extracted for study design, treatment, and outcomes. Fourteen studies were included in this review. Of these, seven studies investigated the effects of telerehabilitation (e.g., tele-yoga and adapted physiotherapy exercises) on balance and gait measures (e.g., self-reported balance, balance scale, walking speed, mobility, and motor symptoms) using videoconferencing in both assessment and treatment. The telerehabilitation programs by videoconferencing were feasible and safe for people with PD; however, the efficacy still needs to be determined, as only four studies had a parallel group. In addition, no study used wearable technology. Robust evidence of the effects of telerehabilitation by videoconferencing on balance and gait for patients with PD was not found, suggesting that future powered, prospective, and robust clinical trials are needed.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a transition to telehealth. Research supports the use of telehealth; however, there is a paucity of literature on the ethical considerations of this shift. This study explored ethics through narratives of practitioners' lived experiences of transitioning to telehealth. Semi-structured interviews were conducted virtually with 10 pediatric health care professionals. Transcripts were analyzed from a narrative phenomenological perspective. Discussed themes include responding to the rapid redirection, collaborating with colleagues and caregivers, applying therapeutic use of self, and evolving pragmatic clinical reasoning. Transitioning to telehealth resulted in ethical dilemmas pertaining to clients and practitioners. The need for additional support was salient to ensure clients received beneficial services that would not cause harm (non-maleficence). Communities of practice formed organically as forums to explore strategies for sharing comprehensive and equitable information (veracity and justice). Knowledge generated through providers' experiences may inform future guidelines on service delivery transitions.

Abstract
(1) Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis explores the effectiveness of telerehabilitation in patients suffering from chronic neck pain, specifically on pain and disability. The research delves into an area of growing significance within the realm of healthcare, aiming to understand the impact of digital interventions on the rehabilitation process for individuals with prolonged neck pain. (2) Methods: The comprehensive review encompasses a wide array of studies evaluating the collective outcomes of numerous trials focused on telerehabilitation strategies. In this systematic review, PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science databases were systematically searched to identify studies on telerehabilitation's impact on pain. (3) Results: Eight studies met the inclusion criteria. Using the Downs and Black quality assessment, three studies were classified as good and five as fair. The authors identify specific modalities within telerehabilitation, such as remote exercise programs and virtual consultations, that contribute significantly to positive patient outcomes. Meta-analysis indicated a significant overall effect of telerehabilitation on pain reduction (MD = -1.27; 95% CI = -2.06; -0.47; p = 0.002). These findings support telerehabilitation's efficacy in pain management. (4) Conclusions: The synthesis of evidence presented in this systematic review and meta-analysis underscores the potential of telerehabilitation as an effective and accessible means of managing chronic neck pain, offering valuable insights for both healthcare practitioners and policymakers in advancing patient-centered care.

Abstract
PURPOSE Patients in the chronic phase after stroke often lack the possibility to intensively train their upper limb function. Assistive devices can be a solution to training intensively at home. This qualitative study investigated stroke survivors' experiences regarding training using the hoMEcare aRm rehabiLItatioN (MERLIN) system, an assistive device and telecare platform. We investigated patients' perspectives regarding the home-based training with the MERLIN system, on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) domains and the facilitators and barriers of the MERLIN system. METHODS Eleven patients in the chronic phase of stroke who completed the MERLIN trial took part in semi-structured interviews. Interviews were analysed using the framework method. RESULTS Participants were in general positive about the device and the training. Several experienced positive effects on ICF body functions, such as joint range of motion and self-confidence. Some experienced improvements in activities, but not on participation level. Home training had advantages: flexibility in training time and duration and no need to travel. The major barriers were technical hard- and software issues and ergonomic complaints. A list of recommendations regarding assistive devices and home-based rehabilitation was created. CONCLUSIONS Homebased training using an assistive device was well received by stroke patients to train their upper limb function. Future device developers should take patients' feedback into account to overcome the barriers related to the introduction of new assistive devices at home. Our recommendations may be the first step to implementing patients' perspectives during the early stages of device development. Abstract
BACKGROUND Up to 50% of people in low- and middle-income countries do not receive the rehabilitation they require. Telerehabilitation has the potential to improve access to neurorehabilitation services especially in low- and middle-income countries. Although there are reports of the barriers and facilitators to telerehabilitation in such settings, almost all are anecdotal. Furthermore, family or carers have a significant influence on the adoption and success of telerehabilitation, but their views have not been reported. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate the views of service users, their family or carers, and health care professionals (HCPs) on telerehabilitation for people with neurological conditions in Ghana. METHODS Two focus groups were held at Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana: one in person for service users (n=11) and their family or carers (n=9), conducted in the Ghanaian language of Twi, and one hybrid for HCPs (n=18) conducted in English. The mean (SD) age of the service users was 59.8 (8.6) years; 5 users had a stroke and 6 had Parkinson disease. The HCP group consisted of 7 speech and language therapists, 3 physiotherapists, 3 occupational therapists, 3 medical staff, 1 nurse, and 1 industry representative. Focus groups were semi-structured and explored previous experiences of telerehabilitation, perceived benefits and challenges, and solutions to overcome these challenges. Focus groups were audio transcribed, and the service user transcript was translated into English. The resulting transcripts were analyzed using thematic analysis. RESULTS Overall, participants were positive about the role of telerehabilitation but recommended hybrid delivery, with in-person rehabilitation in the early stages and telerehabilitation in the later stages. In relation to telerehabilitation in Ghana, there were 3 main themes: benefits, challenges or barriers, and implementation. Benefits included the convenience and lower cost for service users, the higher dose of therapy possible, and increased access for people in remote areas. However, challenges included lack of a stable internet connection, cost of phones and data packages, and low levels of literacy. Implementation issues included cultural relevance, information governance, and the platform used to deliver telerehabilitation, with most participants being familiar with WhatsApp. CONCLUSIONS Telerehabilitation has the potential to be a useful method of delivering rehabilitation to people with neurological conditions in Ghana, especially in a hybrid rehabilitation model with telerehabilitation augmenting in-person sessions. However, many people were unaware of telerehabilitation, and challenges such as a reliable internet connection, cultural relevance, and costs need to be addressed. Clinical trials of low-cost telerehabilitation interventions contextualized to the specific user group are required.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate determinants of willingness to adopt telerehabilitation, willingness of technology use, core affect regarding using telerehabilitation, and digital competencies in rehabilitation professionals in Austria and Germany before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. MATERIALS AND METHODS A cross-sectional paper-based and online survey was conducted before and during COVID-19, respectively, with three cohorts of rehabilitation professionals. Outcomes were the willingness to adopt telerehabilitation evaluated using the extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology; willingness of technology use using the short scale for assessing the willingness of technology use; digital competencies and core affect using the Digital Competence Framework and semantic differential, respectively. Multivariate ordinal regression analysis was performed to determine predictors. RESULTS Included were 603 rehabilitation professionals. Analysis revealed differences between Austria and Germany and before and during the pandemic for most outcomes. German residency, the pandemic, and a higher educational level were most important predictors of higher willingness to adopt telerehabilitation, willingness of technology use, digital competencies, and positive core affect. The pandemic increased most aspects of willingness to adopt telerehabilitation, willingness of technology use, digital competencies, and positive core affect. Results confirm that rehabilitation professionals with higher degrees are more prone to adopt innovations in healthcare.Registration: German Clinical Trials Register (DRKS00021464)IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONThe willingness to adopt telerehabilitation is associated with external factors increasing the need for alternative rehabilitation delivery, such as COVID-19, and with financial facilitators, such as reimbursement.As the willingness to adopt telerehabilitation is higher among speech and language therapists and dietitians, efforts are necessary to enhance its use in physiotherapists and occupational therapists.As a higher willingness to adopt telerehabilitation was observed in younger rehabilitation professionals and those with higher education, increasing the importance of telerehabilitation in education curricula and further knowledge transfer into practice for those already working in the field seems necessary.

Abstract
Background: Occupational therapy services implemented via telehealth (Tele-OT) have declined since COVID-19, despite their well-known benefits. This study aimed to (1) compare the demographic and the clinical characteristics, attitudes, perceived usability, self-efficacy toward Tele-OT, and the factors affecting technology use for occupational therapists with and without Tele-OT experience; (2) describe the current practice and examine the factors associated with Tele-OT implementation; and (3) better understand the barriers and facilitators for implementing Tele-OT. Methods: An online survey invited ocupational therapists working in the health care system. The following measures were used: the Technical affinity-attitude (TA-EG) measured attitudes toward Tele-OT, the System Usability Scale measured perceived Tele-OT usability, and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology measured factors related to Tele-OT use and self-efficacy. An open-ended question requested ocupational therapists to describe one Tele-OT session. Results: We included 309 occupational therapists (mean [SD] age = 39.1 [9.9]): 181 with and 128 without Tele-OT experience. The groups significantly (p < 0.001) differed in age and years of OT experience. No between-group differences were found regarding attitudes, perspectives, and self-efficacy for Tele-OT. Occupational therapists used video platforms, apps, and phones to conduct the Tele-OT sessions. Descriptions of the Tele-OT sessions were qualitatively sorted into "perceived experience" (i.e., satisfaction and challenges) and "factors related to Tele-OT implementation" (e.g., infrastructure and technology). Conclusions: Occupational therapists with and without Tele-OT experience have similar attitudes and self-efficacy regarding Tele-OT. Thus, Tele-OT implementation may be affected by other personal and environmental factors. Health care organizations can possibly use these findings to promote Tele-OT and bridge the implementation gap.

Abstract
(1) Background: Individual adoption experiences represent important factors in implementing innovations. In the context of health systems, where the implementation of innovations aims to improve the quality of care, they provide an important basis for developing and adapting implementation strategies. (2) Methods: This study examines the adoption experiences of (tele-)medical experts (n = 13) using the example of telemedicine in the German healthcare system by means of a qualitative, guideline-based interview study. The interview guide, as well as the deductive-inductive analysis, is based on Rogers' adoption theory. The transcription and analysis process was carried out according to Kuckartz. (3) Results: A total of 304 interview statements could be coded and assigned to the five main categories of persuasion, knowledge, implementation, decision and confirmation. More than half of all statements were coded under the main category persuasion, with its subcategories of convictions regarding the implementation of telemedicine (n = 89), international comparison of Germany's development (n = 50), telemedicine as a way of optimizing resources (n = 22) and conviction to understand telemedicine as an overall system (n = 10). (4) Conclusions: This study provides insight into how the implementation of telemedicine in the German healthcare system is perceived by experts and allows for adjustments to the ongoing implementation strategy.

Abstract
Background The number of patients undergoing joint replacement procedures is continuously increasing. Tele-equipment is progressively being employed for postrehabilitation of total hip and knee replacements. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the experiences and requirements of patients undergoing total hip and knee arthroplasty who participate in telerehabilitation can contribute to the enhancement of telerehabilitation programs and the overall rehabilitation and care provided to this specific population. Objective To explore the needs and experiences of total hip and knee arthroplasty patients with telerehabilitation. Design Systematic review and qualitative synthesis. Methods Electronic databases PubMed, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, Embase, CINAHL, Scopus, ProQuest, CNKI, Wanfang Data, VIP, and SinoMed were systematically searched for information on the needs and experiences of telerehabilitation for patients with total hip arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty in qualitative studies. The search period was from the creation of the database to March 2024. Literature quality was assessed using the 2016 edition of the Australian Joanna Briggs Institute Centre for Evidence-Based Health Care Quality Assessment Criteria for Qualitative Research. A pooled integration approach was used to integrate the findings inductively. Results A total of 11 studies were included and 4 themes were identified: the desire to communicate and the need to acquire knowledge; accessible, high-quality rehabilitation services; positive psychological experiences; the dilemmas of participating in telerehabilitation. Conclusions This study's findings emphasize that the practical needs and challenges of total hip and knee arthroplasty patients' participation in telerehabilitation should be continuously focused on, and the advantages of telerehabilitation should be continuously strengthened to guarantee the continuity of patients' postoperative rehabilitation and to promote their postoperative recovery.

Abstract
PURPOSE Home self-rehabilitation exercises for musculoskeletal conditions are a valuable complement to rehabilitation plans. Telerehabilitation systems using artificial intelligence can provide reliable solutions and empower patients by providing them with guidance and motivating them to engage in rehabilitation plans and activities. This study aims to understand the patient's and physiotherapist's perspective on the requirements of effective face-to-face physiotherapy sessions to inspire the design of a telerehabilitation platform to be used in home settings. METHODS The authors used an ethnography-informed approach through observation and semi-structured interviews with patients (n = 13) and physiotherapists (n = 10) in two outpatient rehabilitation clinics. The AEIOU framework was used to structure and analyse the observation. Thematic analysis was used to code and analyse the data collected from the observations and the interviews. RESULTS Patients' and physiotherapists' perspectives emphasise the need for exercise instruction clarity, evolution monitoring, and feedback. In the absence of the physiotherapist, in home settings, patients feel insecure and fear execution difficulties and limited exercise instructions, while physiotherapists struggle with controlling patients' home exercise performance. Telerehabilitation is seen as an opportunity to move further into home self-rehabilitation programs. CONCLUSIONS Besides home exercise monitoring and guidance, telerehabilitation platforms must allow personalization and effective communication between patients and physiotherapists.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The COVID-19 pandemic saw the migration of many physiotherapy-led group exercise programmes towards online platforms. This online survey aimed to ascertain the patients' views of online group exercise programmes (OGEP), including their satisfaction with various aspects of these programmes, the advantages and disadvantages and usefulness beyond the pandemic. METHODS A mixed-methods design was utilised with a cross-sectional national online survey of patients who had previously attended a physiotherapy-led OGEP in Ireland. The survey collected both qualitative and quantitative data. Descriptive statistics were used to summarise the ordinal and continuous data and conventional content analysis was used to analyse the free-text responses. RESULTS In total, 94 patients completed the surveys. Fifty percent of patients questioned would prefer in-person classes. Despite only a quarter of patient respondents preferring online classes going forward, satisfaction with the OGEPs was high with nearly 95% of respondents somewhat or extremely satisfied. Decreased travel and convenience were cited as the main benefits of OGEPs. Decreased social interaction and decreased direct observation by the physiotherapist were the main disadvantages cited. CONCLUSION Patients expressed high satisfaction rates overall with online classes, but would value more opportunities for social interaction. Although 50% of respondents would choose in-person classes in the future, offering both online and in-person classes beyond the pandemic may help to suit the needs of all patients and improve attendance and adherence.

Abstract
Community-dwelling individuals with chronic stroke used a novel, portable rehabilitation system, mRehab, that uses a smartphone app coupled with 3D printed objects resembling daily use items. The objectives of this study include evaluating participant's approach and nature of engagement with mRehab and identifying factors that influenced the users' engagement with mRehab. An explanatory mixed-method approach was used. In the first phase, 16 participants used mRehab at home for six weeks; six participants were recruited from the first phase for in-depth interviews. Participants were categorized into High, Moderate, and Low Frequency groups based on their frequency of mRehab use. High frequency of use was not related to improved performance on clinical assessments; instead, High Frequency users more commonly initiated performance of new activities after the mRehab program compared to participants with lower frequency of use. Useful activities that are challenging and meaningful to the participants, and availability of objective feedback for self-monitoring were some of the motivators for mRehab use. Difficulty with time management, lack of caregiver availability, and difficulties with the design of the system posed as barriers to mRehab use. Tailoring home programs to the recipients' needs including perceived meaningfulness of the activities is key for long-term rehabilitation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Stroke is a common cause of mortality and morbidity. Insufficient and untimely rehabilitation has been associated with inadequate recovery. Telerehabilitation provides an opportunity for timely and accessible services for individuals with stroke, especially in remote areas. Telerehabilitation is defined as a health care team's use of a communication mode (eg, videoconferencing) to remotely provide rehabilitation services. Telerehabilitation is as effective as facility-based rehabilitation; however, it is infrequently used due to implementation barriers. OBJECTIVE The aim of the study is to explore the interaction between the implementation strategies, context, and outcomes of telerehabilitation of patients with stroke. METHODS This review will follow four steps: (1) defining the review scope, (2) literature search and quality appraisal, (3) data extraction and evidence synthesis, and (4) narrative development. PubMed via MEDLINE, the PEDro database, and CINAHL will be queried till June 2023 and supplemented with citation tracking and a gray literature search. The relevance and rigor of papers will be appraised using the TAPUPAS (Transparency, Accuracy, Purposivity, Utility, Propriety, Accessibility, and Specificity) and Weight of Evidence frameworks. The reviewers will extract and synthesize data iteratively and develop explanatory links between contexts, mechanisms, and outcomes. The results will be reported according to the Realist Synthesis publication standards set by Wong and colleagues in 2013. RESULTS The literature search and screening will be completed in July 2023. Data extraction and analysis will be completed in August 2023, and findings will be synthesized and reported in October 2023. CONCLUSIONS This will be the first realist synthesis, uncovering the causal mechanisms to explain how, why, and to what extent implementation strategies impact telerehabilitation adoption and implementation. Abstract
As clean water can be considered among the essentials of human life, there is always a requirement to seek its foremost and high quality. Water primarily becomes polluted due to organic as well as inorganic pollutants, including nutrients, heavy metals, and constant contamination with organic materials. Predicting the quality of water accurately is essential for its better management along with controlling pollution. With stricter laws regarding water treatment to remove organic and biologic materials along with different pollutants, looking for novel technologic procedures will be necessary for improved control of the treatment processes by water utilities. Linear regression-based models with relative simplicity considering water prediction have been typically used as available statistical models. Nevertheless, in a majority of real problems, particularly those associated with modeling of water quality, non-linear patterns will be observed, requiring non-linear models to address them. Thus, artificial intelligence (AI) can be a good candidate in modeling and optimizing the elimination of pollutants from water in empirical settings with the ability to generate ideal operational variables, due to its recent considerable advancements. Management and operation of water treatment procedures are supported technically by these technologies, leading to higher efficiency compared to sole dependence on human operations. Thus, establishing predictive models for water quality and subsequently, more efficient management of water resources would be critically important, serving as a strong tool. A systematic review methodology has been employed in the present work to investigate the previous studies over the time interval of 2010-2020, while analyzing and synthesizing the literature, particularly regarding AI application in water treatment. A total number of 92 articles had addressed the topic under study using AI. Based on the conclusions, the application of AI can obviously facilitate operations, process automation, and management of water resources in significantly volatile contexts.

Abstract
BACKGROUND With the rapid development of the metaverse and the problem of non-attendance in traditional rehabilitation, virtual reality in telerehabilitation has become increasingly vital in modern medicine. However, research on determining predictors that influence the public's behavioral intention to adopt VR-based telerehabilitation has not been extensively studied. OBJECTIVE This study aims to propose a new research model with a comparative analysis on understanding factors affecting the public's behavioral intention to adopt VR in telerehabilitation for different user groups. METHODS A total of 215 respondents from the general public completed an online questionnaire to validate the proposed research model. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS and AMOS. The proposed model was additionally validated using CFA and multiple linear regression. RESULTS This study found that effort expectancy, threat appraisals, and trust had a positive significant influence on the public's behavioral intention to adopt VR in telerehabilitation. However, performance expectancy and facilitating conditions had no significant relationship with behavioral intention. Notably, the average of the primary factors for older adults was generally higher than for younger adults. CONCLUSIONS The present study confirms the applicability of the proposed research model. Our findings contribute up-to-date insights for related stakeholders to minimize implementation failures and develop successful adoption strategies for the future expansion of telerehabilitation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the leading causes of pain and disability among adults worldwide. For many individuals with knee OA, accessing proper physiotherapy services is difficult, especially with the current COVID-19 pandemic. OBJECTIVE The purpose of the current study is to investigate the feasibility and efficacy of a telephone-based physiotherapy (PT) care program for people with knee OA. METHODS This was a pilot feasibility study, with a cross-over design and repeated measures. Two groups with knee OA were recruited, an immediate therapy group (IG) and a delayed therapy group (DG). The therapeutic program involved a telephone call from a physiotherapist to the participants 3/week for 8 weeks. Physiotherapist delivered to participants educational information on knee OA, followed-up on adhering to daily therapeutic exercises and coached participants regarding exercises while using a behavioral-change framework to ensure proper therapy. Following the 8-weeks program, the IG group were advised to continue exercises and the DG group were provided with the same telephone-based PT program. RESULTS Forty participants were enrolled in the study (IG = 20; DG = 20). There were no significant differences between groups at baseline. The results of our study showed that the telephone-based PT program led to improvements across all outcome measures. Participants reported that they had less pain, less stiffness, and an overall improvement in physical function. CONCLUSIONS A telephone-based PT program appears to be feasible and effective in yielding significant benefits among individuals with knee OA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Exercise therapy, self-management and education are recommended interventions for hand osteoarthritis (OA), but new delivery systems are needed to solve lack of adherence. AIM To determine the effects on hand function and pain related measures of a mobile app-delivered intervention, compared with usual care, in patients with symptomatic hand OA. DESIGN A pragmatic, multicenter, two-group parallel randomized controlled trial. SETTING Community health centers in rural southern Spain. POPULATION Eighty-three participants with unilateral or bilateral symptomatic hand OA were proposed to participate, and finally 74 were included and randomized. METHODS Participants received a home multimodal treatment (exercise, education, and self-management recommendations) with the CareHand mobile app or usual care (written exercises) over 12 weeks. Monthly telephone calls were performed to monitor adherence. The primary outcome was hand physical function (Australian/Canadian Hand Osteoarthritis Index, AUSCAN) at 3- and 6-months. Secondary measures included hand pain intensity and morning stiffness, upper limb function, hand dexterity, and grip and pinch strength. RESULTS The CareHand group showed significant within-group changes in hand function at 6-months (-3.0, 95% CI -5.1 to -0.9 vs. usual care: -0.9, 95% CI -3.3 to 1.5). Neither group showed improvements in hand function at 3-months (CareHand: -1.5, 95% CI -3.1 to 0.1; usual care: -0.5, 95% CI -2.7 to 1.7). For the secondary outcomes, the CareHand group showed better results on upper limb function both at 3- and 6-months, and on pain both at 1- and 3-months compared to usual care group. Linear regression models indicated that baseline scores of pain intensity, hand status, and upper limb function were associated with a greater improvement in hand pain and physical function. CONCLUSIONS A mobile app-delivered intervention is effective for improving hand function, and better than usual care for upper limb function and pain. Further research is warranted to understand the impact of mobile health (mHealth) in people with hand OA. CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT mHealth interventions are a feasible and secure multimodal delivery approach in older adults with hand OA in rural primary care setting. Baseline pain and upper limb function might predict functional hand outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Telehealth approaches are promising for the delivery of rehabilitation services but may be under-used or under-implemented. OBJECTIVE To report a review protocol to identify how much telerehabilitation (telehealth approaches to the delivery of rehabilitation services) have been used and implemented, and which factors have affected such implementation. METHODS A mixed-methods systematic review with a framework synthesis. Six databases for the scientific literature will be searched, complemented by snowballing searches and additional references coming from key informants (i.e., rehabilitation researchers from a networking group in health services research). We will include English-language empirical research examining the routine use or implementation of telehealth technologies in physical rehabilitation services or by physical rehabilitation professionals from a range of study designs, excepting case studies, case reports, and qualitative studies with n < 5. Two independent reviewers will perform the screenings, quality appraisals (using the Joanna Briggs Institutes' appraisal checklists), and the data extractions. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research will be used to synthesize the data on the enablers and barriers of the implementation of telerehabilitation approaches. All the authors will be involved at this synthesis, and key informants will provide feedback. CONCLUSION The results can inform further implementation endeavours.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to examine telehealth physical therapy utilization 1 year into the COVID-19 pandemic and identify factors that influence physical therapists' delivery of telehealth in an urban academic medical center. METHODS Electronic medical record data were extracted within the dates of interest (March 22, 2021 to May 15, 2021), the proportion of physical therapy sessions delivered via telehealth were identified, and patient characteristics were compared by telehealth volume (0 vs ≥1 session, 1 vs >1 session). Qualitative data also were collected from physical therapists via semi-structured interviews, and a directed content analysis was conducted, informed by the Capability, Opportunity, Motivation, and Behavior model, to identify factors influencing telehealth delivery. RESULTS Telehealth was used for 3793 of 8038 (47.2%) physical therapist sessions, and 1028 unique patients had at least 2 physical therapist sessions (without telehealth: 6.6% [n = 68], telehealth once: 39.1% [n = 402], telehealth more than once: 54.3% [n = 558]). Patients without telehealth were older, non-English speaking, had non-commercial insurance, and had at least 1 chronic health condition. Patients with telehealth more than once had a neurologic diagnosis and lived farther from the treating clinic. Capabilities that influenced telehealth delivery were physical therapist clinical skills and knowledge, technical proficiency, telehealth-specific interpersonal skills, and cognitive flexibility. Factors external to physical therapists-including the environment, patient equipment and technology proficiency, physical therapist equipment, clinic factors, and patient and referring provider perspectives-also influenced telehealth delivery. Finally, patient needs and telehealth as a beneficial tool guided physical therapist intention to use telehealth. CONCLUSION Sustained telehealth utilization outcomes 1 year into the COVID-19 pandemic and an interaction among physical therapist, patient, and environmental factors support the long-term potential of telehealth physical therapy in an urban academic medical center. IMPACT These findings support the long-term potential of telehealth approaches and can be used to inform telehealth physical therapist training programs and clinical implementation, future research, and health policy.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Emerging evidence suggests that robotic devices for upper limb rehabilitation after a stroke may improve upper limb function. For robotic upper limb rehabilitation in stroke to be successful, patients' experiences and those of the rehabilitation professionals must be considered. Therefore, this review aims to synthesise the available evidence on experiences of patients after a stroke with rehabilitation robots for upper limb rehabilitation and the experiences of rehabilitation professionals with rehabilitation robots for upper limb stroke rehabilitation. METHODS AND ANALYSIS Database search will include MEDLINE (Ovid), EMBASE (Elsevier), Cochrane CENTRAL, PsycINFO, Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE and CINAHL (EBSCOhost). Grey literature from Open Grey, PsyArXiv, bioRxiv, medRxiv and Google Scholar will also be searched. Qualitative studies or results from mixed-method studies that include adult patients after a stroke who use upper limb rehabilitation robots, either supervised by rehabilitation professionals or by patients themselves, at any stage of their rehabilitation and/or stroke professionals who use upper limb rehabilitation robots will be included. Robotic upper limb rehabilitation provided by students, healthcare assistants, technicians, non-professional caregivers, family caregivers, volunteer caregivers or other informal caregivers will be excluded. Articles published in English will be considered regardless of date of publication. Studies will be screened and critically appraised for methodological quality by two independent reviewers. A standardised tool from JBI System for the Unified Management, Assessment and Review of Information for data extraction, the meta-aggregation approach for data synthesis and the ConQual approach for confidence evaluation will be followed. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION As this systematic review is based on previously published research, no informed consent or ethical approval is required. It is anticipated that this systematic review will highlight the experiences of patients after a stroke and perceived facilitators and barriers for rehabilitation professionals on this topic, which will be disseminated through peer-reviewed publications and national and international conferences. Abstract
This article proposes a new, improved home-based cardiac telerehabilitation system enhanced by a robotic and Virtual Reality module for cardiac patients to be used in their rehabilitation program. In this study, a novel strategy was used to integrate existing equipment and applications with newly developed ones, with the aim of reducing the need for technical skills of patients using remote control. Patients with acute or chronic heart diseases require long-term, individualized rehabilitation in order to promote their motor recovery and maintain an active and independent lifestyle. This will be accomplished by creating a system for at-home cardiac telerehabilitation augmented by a VR and cobot systems, which can be used long-term at home by each individual patient. In the pre-feasibility study carried out on healthy volunteers familiar with software applications and robotic systems, we demonstrate that RoboTeleRehab could be technically feasible both hardware and software.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This preliminary study was conducted to explore physical therapists' (PT) perceptions of and satisfaction with delivering telerehabilitation sessions to patients with knee osteoarthritis during the Covid-19 pandemic. STUDY DESIGN An exploratory preliminary study using an internet-based survey followed by focus group sessions. METHODS A programme of sessions was administered by 12 PTs from the Physical Therapy Department at Prince Sultan Military Medical City. An internet-based survey containing 17 statements was completed by the PTs. RESULTS With regard to telephone-delivered care, four statements related to patients' privacy, programme convenience, safe patients time and money achieved consensus agreement (≥75% agreed or strongly agreed), there was majority agreement (≥50% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed) with seven of the statements regarding the effectiveness, affordability and safety of the programme, but there was no consensus with regard to the remaining five statements. In addition, most of the participants (84.6%) believed that a telephone consultation should cost 25% or 50% less than a face-to-face session. CONCLUSION Despite the lack of physical contact with patients, the PTs agreed that telerehabilitation would offer patients an easy method of being prescribed a therapeutic programme, save time and money, and maintain patient privacy. Further, the PTs reported barriers and suggested adaptations for this method of service delivery.

Abstract
Background Clinical, educational, and research interest in telerehabilitation has not been widely explored until the COVID-19 pandemic. Amid the enduring pandemic, telerehabilitation remains part of the daily service, academic, and research responsibilities of residents in various training institutions worldwide. Objective To determine the Rehabilitation Medicine residents' current levels of telerehabilitation readiness, knowledge, and acceptance, their pattern of beliefs about telerehabilitation, and the factors affecting their readiness. Methods All bona fide residents from all training institutions in the Philippines were invited to participate in an online survey evaluating the following constructs: technological readiness (using the Technological Readiness Index or TRI 2.0); telerehabilitation knowledge (using an original multiple-choice examination); and telerehabilitation acceptance (using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology questionnaire). A pre-test and pilot test were conducted. The TRI responses were classified according to technology adoption segments to determine the respondents' pattern of beliefs about telerehabilitation. Results Sixty-two residents participated (86.1% response rate). They had good telerehabilitation readiness (3.3 ± 0.4 out of 5), fair telerehabilitation knowledge (2.1 ± 1.1 out of 5), and excellent telerehabilitation acceptance (4.5 ± 0.6 out of 5). The majority were classified either as telerehabilitation skeptics (38.7%), pioneers (19.4%), or explorers (19.4%). The factors that significantly influenced telerehabilitation readiness were optimism, innovativeness, discomfort, and insecurity (p < 0.05). Conclusion Despite having favorable levels of telerehabilitation readiness and acceptance, the Rehabilitation Medicine residents showed fair telerehabilitation knowledge. Our results suggest the need for formal education and training on virtual rehabilitation care during residency.

Abstract
We aimed to examine the feasibility and impact of a short-term occupation-based telerehabilitation intervention (Managing Participation with Breast Cancer (MaP-BC)) on daily participation, health-related quality-of-life, and breast-cancer-related symptoms and understand women's perspectives regarding strategies to manage daily participation and symptoms during COVID-19 pandemic. A mixed-methods study (single-arm pre-post with a qualitative component) included 14 women after their primary medical treatment for breast cancer. Women received six weeks of occupation-based intervention using a video-communication. Sessions focused on identifying functional goals and training strategies to manage daily participation. The primary outcome was perceived performance and satisfaction with meaningful activities by the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). Secondary outcomes were participation in the Activity Card Sort (ACS), upper-extremity functioning of Disability Arm Shoulder Hand, self-reported symptom severity, executive-functioning, health-related quality of life, and a question regarding strategies used to manage daily participation. Women significantly improved their daily participation in meaningful activities in the COPM, most ACS activity domains, self-reported executive functioning, and health-related-quality-of-life. Qualitative findings revealed three main themes: (1) daily life under the threats of breast cancer and COVID-19, (2) women's own strategies to overcome challenges, and (3) contribution of the MaP-BC. Providing telerehabilitation during the COVID-19 pandemic is feasible and successful in improving women's daily participation after breast cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In multiple sclerosis (MS), telemedicine improves access to specialized medical care; however, barriers remain, including universal access and effective implementation. Focusing on telerehabilitation, ie, remotely delivered physical therapy, our goal was to identify barriers to telerehabilitation implementation and factors associated with patients completing telerehabilitation physical therapy treatment. METHODS Quantitative data included a review of electronic health records of patients with MS treated at the University of California San Francisco Physical Therapy Faculty Practice. We extracted demographic, clinical, and transit-related factors. For patients who scheduled an initial evaluation, we recorded the number of follow-ups, cancellations, completed physical therapy goals, and discharges. Qualitative data included interviews with 3 board-certified neurologic physical therapists and patients' perspectives recorded in the subjective portion of physical therapy notes. RESULTS We identified 111 patients with at least 1 visit (in-person or telerehabilitation) to physical therapy (82 women; mean ± SD age, 54.2 ± 12.7 years). Patients with no disability (Expanded Disability Status Scale [EDSS] score, 0) were 73% less likely to schedule a follow-up appointment (in-person or telerehabilitation) than those with some disability (EDSS score, >0) (odds ratio, 0.27; 95% CI, 0.09-0.75; P = .012). Neurologic physical therapists identified reduced travel burden and scheduling flexibility as benefits of telerehabilitation vs in-person visits. Barriers to telerehabilitation included low technological literacy, cognitive impairment, and fall risk. Patients described scheduling conflicts and pain/illness as barriers to telerehabilitation. CONCLUSIONS Patients with no disability were least likely to complete physical therapy treatment via telerehabilitation. Although both benefits and barriers to completing physical therapy via telerehabilitation are present, the neurologic physical therapists were supportive of a hybrid model for physical therapy.

Abstract
Background The COVID‐19 pandemic catalyzed the adoption of telerehabilitation in various health care settings. However, there was neither a preexisting national guideline in the Philippines nor an internationally agreed upon standard for telerehabilitation. The literature lacks nationwide studies documenting how physiatrists perceived and experienced telerehabilitation during the pandemic. Objective To determine the perceptions and experiences of physiatrists in the Philippines regarding telerehabilitation. Design Online survey originally developed by the authors with inputs from local experts in telehealth or telerehabilitation. Setting Nationwide, involving board‐certified physiatrists practicing in the Philippines. Participants Fellows of the Philippine Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine (PARM) (N = 259) with Internet access. Main Outcome Measures Self‐reported telerehabilitation knowledge, skills, and experience; key concerns; preferred clients, service offerings, and methods (technology, duration, charging). Results The respondents (n = 161; 62.2% response rate) had a mean age of 48.1 ± 9.6 years, were mostly female (57.8%), and mostly practiced in private hospitals and urban settings. The majority reported inadequate telerehabilitation knowledge (61.5%), skills (58.4%), and experience (72.1%). The most common sources of telerehabilitation knowledge were colleagues (52.8%), PARM (51.6%), and telemedicine‐related websites (41.6%). Most of the respondents preferred to conduct telerehabilitation with former patients over new ones and prescribe telerehabilitation programs for physical, occupational, psychological, and speech‐language therapy but not for swallowing therapy. Videoconferencing was the most common telerehabilitation method. More than half of the respondents charged lesser fees for telerehabilitation compared to in‐person consultations. Although the majority recognized the need for telerehabilitation, their key concerns included the lack of thorough patient examination and medicolegal liability issues. Conclusion Despite their limited baseline knowledge, skills, and experience regarding telerehabilitation, many physiatrists in the Philippines learned to adopt this service delivery method during the pandemic. Their perceptions and experiences could be used in formulating practice‐based guidelines and strategies to improve the conduct of telerehabilitation in the country.
