Abstract
AIMS To (1) synthesise evidence from Health at Every Size® interventions on physical and psychological health in people with overweight and obesity and (2) report between-group differences within interventions evaluating the impact of Health at Every Size® interventions on health and health-related outcomes. METHODS Six databases (Medline, Embase, Cochrane, PsychInfo, CINAHL, and Scopus) were searched from inception until November 2022. Included studies were conducted in adults with overweight or obesity, used Health at Every Size®-based interventions compared with control interventions and reported dietary, physical and/or psychological outcomes, including diet quality, anthropometry, or quality of life. Data on between-group differences were extracted. Risk of bias was assessed using ROB2. Random-effects meta-analyses were undertaken for outcomes with at least three studies reporting the same or comparable data. RESULTS From 128 studies identified, 19 full-text articles (10 unique studies, 6 published since 2017), were included. Meta-analysis found a significant reduction for susceptibility to hunger in Health at Every Size® intervention groups relative to controls (p = 0.005), with no significant difference (p > 0.05) between Health at Every Size® interventions and control groups for anthropometric, psychological or cardiometabolic outcomes (total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, systolic or diastolic blood pressure). CONCLUSION Health at Every Size® interventions had similar results compared with weight-based interventions on anthropometric outcomes and cardiometabolic outcomes. Health at Every Size® interventions had a significant benefit for reducing susceptibility to hunger. The decision to use a Health at Every Size®-based intervention should be personalised to individual needs. Further research in more diverse populations is required using standardised outcome measures to facilitate future meta-analyses.

Abstract
Prior in-person behavioural intervention studies have documented differential weight loss between men and women and by race, with Black women receiving the least benefit. Remotely delivered interventions are now commonplace, but few studies have compared outcomes by race-gender groups and delivery modality. We conducted a secondary analysis of POWER, a randomized trial (NCT00783315) designed to determine the effectiveness of 2 active, lifestyle-based, weight loss interventions (remote vs. in-person) compared to a control group. Participants with obesity and at least one cardiovascular disease risk factor (N = 415) were recruited in the Baltimore, MD area. Data from 233 white and 170 Black individuals were used for this analysis. Following an intention-to-treat approach, we compared the mean percent weight loss at 24 months by race-gender subgroups using repeated-measures, mixed-effects models. Everyone lost weight in the active interventions however, weight loss differed by race and gender. white and Black men had similar results for both interventions (white: in-person (-7.6%) remote (-7.4%); Black: in-person (-4.7%) remote (-4.4%)). In contrast, white women lost more weight with the in-person intervention (in-person (-7.2%) compared to the remote (-4.4%)), whereas Black women lost less weight in the in-person group compared to the remote intervention at 24 months (-2.0% vs. -3.0%, respectively; p for interaction <.001). We found differences between the effectiveness of the 2 weight loss interventions-in-person or remote-in white and Black women at 24 months. Future studies should consider intervention modality when designing weight loss interventions for women.

Effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on weight, eating behaviours and psychological outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis. Eat Weight Disord 2023; 28:6. Abstract
PURPOSE To examine the effectiveness of ACT on weight (body mass index and body mass), eating behaviours (binge eating, emotional eating, external eating and restraint eating), and psychological outcomes (quality of life [QoL], depression, psychological flexibility, and weight stigma) among adults with overweight and obesity. METHODS Seven electronic databases (CINAHL, EMBASE, PubMed, PsycInfo Scopus, The Cochrane Library, and Web of Science) were searched from inception through 17 June 2022. 13 studies and 48 unique effect sizes were analyzed using random-effects models. Pooled effect estimates were calculated using weighted mean differences (WMD) and standardized mean differences expressed in Hedges' g (g). Heterogeneity was assessed using Q-statistics and interpreted using I2. RESULTS ACT was found to be effective in improving weight loss in terms of BMI (k = 6, WMD = - .50, 95% CI = - .90; - .11, t = - 3.25, p = .20, I2 = .0%), psychological flexibility and weight-related stigma. However, non-significant changes were found for body mass (k = 4, WMD = - 0.33 95% CI = - 1.53; 0.87, t = - .88, p = .44, I2 = .0%), binge eating (k = 4, g = - .34, 95% CI = - 1.31; 0.62, t = - 1.13, p = .34, I2 = 71.1%), emotional eating (k = 6, g = - .20, 95% CI = - 0.54; 0.15, t = - 1.47, p = .20, I2 = 45.0%), external eating (k = 5, g = - .40, 95% CI = 0.96; 0.16, t = - 1.99, p = .12, I2 = 81.8%), restraint eating (k = 3, g = .22 95% CI = - 0.57; 1.01, t = 1.19, p = .36, I2 = 69.1%), QoL (k = 3, g = .01, 95% CI = - 1.51; 1.52, t = .02, p = .99, I2 = 90.2%) and depression (k = 3, g = - .55, 95% CI = - 1.78; 0.67, t = - 1.94, p = .19, I2 = 79.9%). CONCLUSION ACT could be effective in improving weight loss but more studies are needed to ascertain its effectiveness and the underlying mechanism by which the various components influence weight-related outcomes. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Evidence obtained from a systematic review and meta-analysis of existing empirical studies.
