Abstract
Herein, we report a highly efficient Ag(I)-catalyzed indolyzation with Friedel-Crafts alkylation through a cascade cyclization strategy for accessing valuable hybrid heterocycles for the first time. This general strategy consists of forming four C-C/C-N/C-O bonds toward dual annulation reactions of 2-alkynylanilines with methyl benzoate-2-carboxaldehydes and aromatic amines, as well as with salicylaldehydes and malononitrile. Variably substituted new indolo-4H-phthalimidines and indolo-4H-chromenes were synthesized with excellent yields (85-93%) under mild reaction conditions.

Abstract
By employing the naturally-originated molecule of creatine, Fe3O4@SiO2-creatine as an environmentally benign magnetic organometallic nanobiocatalyst was successfully prepared via a convenient and green route. Then to acquire an inclusive comprehension of different properties of the catalyst, it was studied by various characterization techniques such as FT‐IR, FE-SEM, TEM, EDX, XRD, and VSM analyses. It was found that the size distribution of nanoparticles was an average diameter size of 70 nm. To examine the catalytic activity, it was applied in sequential knoevenagel condensation-Michael addition room temperature reaction of dimedone, malononitrile, and different substituted aromatic aldehydes to produce a variety of 2-amino-tetrahydro-4H-chromene-3-carbonitrile derivatives in a single step. Among the multiple outstanding advantages that can be mentioned for this work, some of the most noticeable ones include: affording the products in short reaction times with high yields, operating the reaction at ambient conditions and ease of catalyst separation.

Abstract
We synthesized fluoro- and hydroxy-containing octahydro-2H-chromenes by the Prins reaction starting from a monoterpenoid (-)-isopulegol and a wide range of aromatic aldehydes in the presence of the BF3∙Et2O/H2O system acting as both an acid catalyst and a fluorine source. Activity of the produced compounds against the influenza A/Puerto Rico/8/34 (H1N1) virus was studied. The highest activity was demonstrated by fluoro- (11i) and hydroxy-containing (10i) derivatives of 2,4,6-trimethoxybenzaldehyde. The most pronounced virus-inhibiting effect of compounds 10i and 11i was observed at an early stage of infection. These compounds were supposed to be capable of binding to viral hemagglutinin, which is an agreement with data on the effect of compounds 10i and 11i on the viral fusogenic activity as well as by molecular docking studies.

Abstract
We synthesized a series of amides with a benzo[d][1,3]dithiol core. The chemical library of compounds was tested for their cytotoxicity and inhibiting activity against influenza virus A/California/07/09 (H1N1)pdm09 in MDCK cells. For each compound, values of CC50, IC50 and selectivity index (SI) were determined. Compounds of this structure type were for the first time found to exhibit anti-influenza activity. The structure of an amide substituent in the tested compounds was demonstrated to have a significant effect on their activity against the H1N1 influenza virus and cytotoxicity. Compound 4d has a high selectivity index of about 30. 4d was shown to be most potent at early stages of viral cycle. In direct fusogenic assay it demonstrated dose-dependent activity against fusogenic activity of hemagglutinin of influenza virus. Based on molecular docking and regression analysis data, viral hemagglutinin was suggested as possible target for these new antiviral agents.

Abstract
Epilepsy is a most disabling neurological disorder affecting all age groups. Among the various mechanisms that may result in epilepsy, neuronal hyperexcitability and oxidative injury produced by an excessive formation of free radicals may play a role in the development of this pathology. Therefore, new treatment approaches are needed to address resistant conditions that do not respond fully to current antiepileptic drugs. This paper reviews studies on the anticonvulsant activities of essential oils and their chemical constituents. Data from studies published from January 2011 to December 2018 was selected from the PubMed database for examination. The bioactivity of 19 essential oils and 16 constituents is described. Apiaceae and Lamiaceae were the most promising botanical families due to the largest number of reports about plant species from these families that produce anticonvulsant essential oils. Among the evaluated compounds, β-caryophyllene, borneol, eugenol and nerolidol were the constituents that presented antioxidant properties related to anticonvulsant action. These data show the potential of these natural products as health promoting agents and use against various types of seizure disorders. Their properties on oxidative stress may contribute to the control of this neurological condition. However, further studies on the toxicological profile and mechanism of action of essential oils are needed.

Abstract
AbstractReaction ofN-alkyl-2-imino-2H-chromene-3-carboxamides with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate (DMAD) in the presence of sodium carbonate as catalyst in refluxing ethanol gave new tricyclic products identified as methyl 3-alkyl-2-(2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl)-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-chromeno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2-carboxylates. In the absence of sodium carbonate, dimethyl 2-((E)-3-(alkylcarbamoyl)-2H-chromen-2-ylideneamino)fumarates were isolated as intermediates. These intermediates could be successfully converted to the same new tricyclic products by heating in ethanol containing sodium carbonate. All new synthetic compounds were characterized on the basis of their FT-IR,1H and13C NMR spectra, and microanalytical data. To identify the correct stereoisomer of the intermediates, in one case a 2D nuclear Overhauser effect (2D-NOESY) spectrum together with density functional theory (DFT) calculation at the B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) level of theory was used.

Abstract
A set of (-)-isopulegol derived octahydro-2H-chromen-4-ols was synthesized and evaluated in vitro for antiviral activity against panel of reference influenza virus strains differing in subtype, origin (human or avian) and drug resistance. Compound (4R)-11a produced via one-pot synthesis by interaction between (-)-isopulegol and acetone was found to exhibit an outstanding activity against a number of H1N1 and H2N2 influenza virus strains with selectivity index more than 1500. (4R)-11a was shown to be most potent at early stages of viral cycle. Good correlation between anti-viral activity and calculated binding energy to hemagglutinin TBHQ active site was demonstrated.

Abstract
The reaction of 2-amino-4-aryl-7,7-dimethyl-5-oxo-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4H-chromene-3-carbonitriles with excess aliphatic carboxylic acids in the presence of phosphoryl chloride (POCl3) afforded new 2-alkyl-5-aryl-8,8-dimethyl-8,9-dihydro-3H-chromeno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-4,6(5H,7H)-diones in high yields. The suggested mechanism involves a tandem intramolecular Pinner/Dimroth rearrangement. The synthesized compounds were characterized by infrared (IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (13C NMR) and elemental analysis.

Abstract
AbstractMonoterpenes and their derivatives play an important role in the creation of new biologically active compounds including drugs. The review focuses on the data on various types of biological activity exhibited by monoterpenes and their derivatives, including analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antidepressant, anti-Alzheimer, anti-Parkinsonian, antiviral, and antibacterial (anti-tuberculosis) effects. Searching for novel potential drugs among monoterpene derivatives shows great promise for treating various pathologies. Special attention is paid to the effect of absolute configuration of monoterpenes and monoterpenoids on their activity.
