Abstract
Developing green and environmentally friendly biomass materials for energy storage and application is of great significance to sustainable development. Novel composite films containing cellulose acetate (CA) and carbonized polymer dots (CPDs) are reported herein. The CPDs have strong hydrogen bonding interactions with CA matrix, in which CPDs act as the physical crosslinking points and enhance the entanglement density of the matrix. And the composite films demonstrate a significant enhancement in breakdown strength (Eb), reaching up to 520.58 MV/m with the addition of 0.1 wt% CPDs (1.62 times higher than 321.94 MV/m of pure CA). Furthermore, the discharging energy density (Ud) achieves 2.55 J/cm3 at 450 MV/m, which is 1.36 times higher than that of the pure CA film (1.87 J/cm3 at 400 MV/m) and simultaneously, the energy efficiency (η) is maintained at 73.3 %. The Coulomb-blockade effect induced by the ultra-low content of CPDs effectively inhibiting carrier migration, and the enhanced entanglement density of the matrix improving mechanical properties and reducing polarization loss, mainly contribute to the enhanced dielectric performances. Furthermore, CPDs also improve the mechanical properties of the composite films apparently. This work provides some references for the fabrication of the next generation of environmentally friendly dielectric composite films.

Abstract
Intrinsically stretchable conductive materials based on elastic substrates and conductive components play important roles in biomedical applications, such as exercise rehabilitation monitoring and disease prediction. A persistent challenge is to combine high fatigue resistance with excellent mechanical properties in stretchable conductive materials. Herein, we present a stretchable conductive material with both good fatigue resistance and high tensile properties (∼3170%) based on poly(acrylic acid)-phytic acid-trehalose-polypyrrole (denoted as PPTP). The as-prepared PPTP hydrogel electrode showed no obvious cracking or delamination after 400 loading and unloading cycles and maintained good electrical signal transmission function after 1000 cycles. We further collected stable signals for human motion and handwriting using the stretchable hydrogel electrode as a strain sensor, demonstrating the potential application of the PPTP stretchable hydrogel electrode in biomedicine.

Abstract
The expeditious growth of wearable electronic devices has boomed the development of versatile smart textiles for personal health-related applications. In practice, integrated high-performance systems still face challenges of compromised breathability, high cost, and complicated manufacturing processes. Herein, a breathable fibrous membrane with dual-driven heating and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance is developed through a facile process of electrospinning followed by targeted conformal deposition. The approach constructs a robust hierarchically coaxial heterostructure consisting of elastic polymers as supportive "core" and dual-conductive components of polypyrrole and copper sulfide (CuS) nanosheets as continuous "sheath" at the fiber level. The CuS nanosheets with metal-like electrical conductivity demonstrate the promising potential to substitute the expensive conductive nano-materials with a complex fabricating process. The as-prepared fibrous membrane exhibits high electrical conductivity (70.38 S cm-1), exceptional active heating effects, including solar heating (saturation temperature of 69.7 °C at 1 sun) and Joule heating (75.2 °C at 2.9 V), and impressive EMI shielding performance (50.11 dB in the X-band), coupled with favorable air permeability (161.4 mm s-1 at 200 Pa) and efficient water vapor transmittance (118.9 g m-2 h). This work opens up a new avenue to fabricate versatile wearable devices for personal thermal management and health protection.

Abstract
The unique molecular structure of cellulose makes it challenging to dissolve at room temperature (R.T.), and the dissolution mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we employed ZnCl2 aqueous solution for cellulose dissolution at R.T., proposing a novel four-stage dissolution mechanism. The efficient dissolution of cellulose in ZnCl2 aqueous solution at R.T. involves four indispensable stages: rapid migration of hydrated Zn2+ ions towards cellulose, sufficient penetration between cellulose sheets, strong interaction with cellulose hydroxyl groups, and effective dispersion of separated cellulose chains. The proposed four-stage dissolution mechanism was validated through theoretical calculations and experimental evidence. The hydrated Zn2+ ions in ZnCl2 + 3.5H2O solvent exhibited ideal migration, penetration, interaction, and dispersion abilities, resulting in efficient cellulose dissolution at R.T. Moreover, only slight degradation of cellulose occurred in ZnCl2 + 3.5H2O at R.T. Consequently, the regenerated cellulose materials obtained from ZnCl2 + 3.5H2O (R.T.) exhibited better mechanical properties. Notably, the solvent recovery rate reached about 95 % based on previous usage during five cycles. The solvent is outstanding for its green, low-cost, efficiency, simplicity, R.T. conditions and recyclability. This work contributes to a better understanding of the cellulose dissolution mechanisms within inorganic salt solvents at R.T., thereby guiding future development efforts towards greener and more efficient cellulosic solvents.

Abstract
Poor mechanical properties and low photothermal efficiency of silk fibroin (SF)-based aerogels are current challenges that need to be addressed. Herein, SF composite aerogel was developed to enhance the mechanical properties through physical interpenetration of natural down fiber (Df) and hydrogen bonds formed among SF, Df, and polypyrrole (PPy) and to improve the evaporation performance via in-situ polymerization of PPy. The resultant Df/PPy@SF aerogel showed significant improvement of compressive stress (194.29 kPa), which was 6.96 times than that of SF aerogel (27.91 kPa), and also good compression resiliency. Furthermore, due to uniform distribution of PPy and high porosity of 95.27 %, Df/PPy@SF aerogel possessed high light absorbance of 99.87 % and low thermal conductivity (0.043 W·m-1·K-1). Thus, the Df/PPy@SF aerogel evaporator demonstrated high evaporation rates of 2.12 kg·m-2·h-1 for 3.5 wt% saline water, 2.04-2.15 kg·m-2·h-1 for various dye water, and 2.10 kg·m-2·h-1 for actual dye wastewater. Moreover, the developed aerogel exhibited evaporation stability and outstanding salt-resistance when treating seawater due to continuous water supply by superhydrophilic porous aerogel. Therefore, these findings demonstrate the excellent performance of Df/PPy@SF aerogel and will inspire further research on developing natural fiber-reinforced aerogels for use in the fields of solar water evaporation, energy, and other related applications.

Abstract
Sodium metal batteries (SMBs) have high-density and cost-effective characteristics as one of the energy storage systems, but uncontrollable dendrite growth and poor rate performance still hinder their practical applications. Herein, a nitrogen-rich modified cellulose separator with released abundant ion transport tunnels in organic electrolyte was synthesized by in situ polymerization of polypyrrole, which is based on the high permeability of cellulose in aqueous solution and the interfacial interaction between cellulose and polypyrrole. Meanwhile, the introduction of abundant structural defects such as branch chains, oxygen-containing functional groups, and imine-like structure to disrupt polypyrrole conjugation enables the utilization of conductive polymers in composite separator applications. With the electrolyte affinity surface on, the modified separator exhibits reinforced electrolyte uptake (254%) and extended electrolyte wettability, thereby leading to accelerated ionic conductivity (2.77 mS cm-1) and homogeneous sodium deposition by facilitating the establishment of additional pathways for ion transport. Benefiting from nitrogen-rich groups, the polypyrrole-modified separator demonstrates selective Na+ transport by the data of improved Na+ transference number (0.62). Owing to the above advantages, the battery assembled with the modified separators exhibits outstanding rate performance and prominent capacity retention two times that of the pristine cellulose separator at a high current density under the condition of fluorine-free electrolyte.

Abstract
Conductive polymers, such as polypyrrole and polyaniline, have been extensively studied for their notable intrinsic electronic and ionic conductivities, rendering them suitable for a range of diverse applications. In this study, in situ chemical polymerization was employed to coat extruded PLA films with PPy and PANi. Morphological analysis reveals a uniform and compact deposition of both polyaniline and polypyrrole after polymerization periods of 3 and 1 h, respectively. Furthermore, the PLA-PANi-3h and PLA-PPy-1h composites exhibited the highest electrical conductivity, with values of 0.042 and 0.022 S cm-1, respectively. These findings were in agreement with the XPS results, as the polyaniline-coated film showed a higher proportion of charge carriers compared to the polypyrrole composite. The elastic modulus of the coated films showed an increase compared with that of pure PLA films. Additionally, the inflection temperatures for the PLA-PANi-3h and PLA-PPy-1h composites were 368.7 and 367.2 °C, respectively, while for pure PLA, it reached 341.47 °C. This improvement in mechanical and thermal properties revealed the effective interfacial adhesion between the PLA matrix and the conducting polymer. Therefore, this work demonstrates that coating biopolymeric matrices with PANi or PPy enables the production of functional and environmentally friendly conductive materials suitable for potential use in the removal of heavy metals in water treatment.

Abstract
The design and preparation of novel renewable biomass-based dielectric composites have drawn great attention recently. Here, cellulose was dissolved in NaOH/urea aqueous solution, and Al2O3 nanosheets (AONS) synthesized by hydrothermal method were used as fillers. Then the regenerated cellulose (RC)-AONS dielectric composite films were prepared by regeneration, washing and drying. The two-dimensional AONS had a better effect on improving the dielectric constant and breakdown strength of the composites, so that the RC-AONS composite film with 5 wt% AONS content reached an energy density of 6.2 J/cm3 at 420 MV/m. Furthermore, in order to improve the dielectric energy storage properties of cellulose films in high humidity environment, the hydrophobic polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) was innovatively introduced to construct RC-AONS-PVDF composite films. The energy storage density of the prepared ternary composite films could reach 8.32 J/cm3 at 400 MV/m, which was 416 % improvement against that of the commercially biaxially oriented polypropylene (2 J/cm3), and could be cycled for >10,000 times under 200 MV/m. Concurrently, the water absorption of the composite film in humidity was effectively reduced. This work broadens the application prospect of biomass-based materials in the field of film dielectric capacitor.

Abstract
The rapid rise of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), which are emerging energy conversion devices in advanced electronics and wearable sensing systems, has elevated the interest in high-performance and multifunctional triboelectric materials. Among them, cellulosic materials, affording high efficiency, biodegradability, and customizability, are becoming a new front-runner. The inherently low dielectric constant limits the increase in the surface charge density. However, owing to its unique structure and excellent processability, cellulose shows great potential for dielectric modulation, providing a strong impetus for its advanced applications in the era of Internet of Things and artificial intelligence. This review aims to provide comprehensive insights into the fabrication of dielectric-enhanced cellulosic triboelectric materials via dielectric modulation. The exceptional advantages and research progress in cellulosic materials are highlighted. The effects of the dielectric constant, polarization, and percolation threshold on the charge density are systematically investigated, providing a theoretical basis for cellulose dielectric modulation. Typical dielectric characterization methods are introduced, and their technical characteristics are analyzed. Furthermore, the performance enhancements of cellulosic triboelectric materials endowed by dielectric modulation, including more efficient energy harvesting, high-performance wearable electronics, and impedance matching via material strategies, are introduced. Finally, the challenges and future opportunities for cellulose dielectric modulation are summarized.

Abstract
Polymers with high conductivity and cross-linking ability are ideal materials for the preparation of conductive hydrogels for application in wearable electronic devices. However, the fabrication of conductive polymer-incorporated hydrogels with good synergistic properties remains a great challenge due to the hydrophobicity and opacity of conjugated π conductive polymers. In this study, a multifunctional hybrid hydrogel was prepared by incorporating hemicellulose-decorated polypyrrole (H/PPY), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and tannic acid (TA) into a polyacrylamide (PAM) network. The addition of excess ammonium persulfate (APS) in the process of gelation not only initiated the polymerization of PAM but also resulted in the change of the hydrogel from opaque to transparent by continuously breaking and reducing the size of the PPY particles. The hybrid hydrogel exhibited high transparency and conductivity, good adhesion ability and mechanical performance, and high resistance strain sensitivity and could accurately monitor the strain signals of the index finger and elbow flexion and pulse beat during rest and exercise, which has promising potential for use in wearable or implantable smart sensor devices, electronic skins, and artificial intelligence applications.

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of polypyrrole (PPy) on cellulose acetate (CA) membranes prepared by the electrospinning technique (controlled variables) in the recovery of gold complexes of aqueous solutions that are environmentally ecofriendly. CA-PPy membranes were characterized by SEM, EDS, FTIR spectroscopy, contact angle measurements, electrical conductivity, and mechanical tests. They were submerged in two aqueous solutions using two gold complexes, AuI2 - and AuBr4 -, at room temperature. The recovery percentage was evaluated for several hours using the atomic adsorption technique for both complexes. The main findings indicate that the percentage of recovery in the first hours of the test was very high (>80%). The adsorption efficiency maxima were similar for both complexes (91%). The Langmuir model suggests the formation of a monolayer on the surface. The electrical conductivity did not change over time, and the mechanical properties indicate reuse in several experiments. Furthermore, the theoretical analysis showed that the system is helpful at acidic pH, funding its minimum energy. It is shown in this study that the used CA-PPy membranes show adsorption, absorption, and reusable properties with the effective recovery of the complexes in the first hours. These membranes could substitute for materials that are not environmentally ecofriendly.

Abstract
Polypyrrole@cellulose fibers (PPy@CFs) electrode materials are promising candidates in the energy storage. Various strategies have been pursued to improve their electrochemical performance. However, the poor conductivity, specific capacitance, and cyclic stability still hindered its application. Compared with the previous studies, we selected AQS with electrochemical activity as a dopant to improve these defects. It exhibits a high capacitance of 829.8 F g−1 at a current density of 0.2 A g−1, which is much higher than that of PPy@CFs electrode material (261.9 F g−1). Moreover, the capacitance retention of PPy:AQS/p-PTSA@CFs reaches up to 96.01% after 1000 cycles, indicating superior cyclic stability. Therefore, this work provides an efficient strategy for constructing high-performance electrode materials for energy storage.

Abstract
The Ni-rich LiNi0.8 Co0.10 Mn0.1 O2 (NCM811) cathode coated by combining with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and polyimide (PI) produces a PI3-NCM811 cathode, which markedly improves cycling stability and suppresses secondary crystal cracking. The initial discharge capacity of the PI3-NCM811 cathode is 199.6 mAh g-1 between 2.8 and 4.3 V at 0.1 C @ 25 °C, which is slightly lower than that of NCM811 (201.1 mAh g-1 ). The PI3-NCM811 and NCM811 cathodes keep 90.6% and 64.8% of their initial discharge capacity at 1 C between 2.8 and 4.3 V after 500 cycles, respectively. Furthermore, the difference (21.1%) in capacity retention rate between PI3-NCM811 and NCM811 under the condition of 2.8-4.5 V became smaller compared with the difference (25.8%) under the condition of 2.8-4.3 V. This better cyclic stability is mainly attributed to the toughness and elasticity of PI, which inhibits the secondary cracking, maintains the structural integrity of the cathode particles, and protects the particles from electrolyte damage during long-term cycling.

Abstract
Soy protein isolate (SPI) is envisioned as a promising alternative to fabricate "green" flexible electronics, showing great potential in the field of flexible wearable electronics. However, it is challenging to simultaneously achieve conductive film-based human motion-monitoring strain sensors with reliable fatigue resistance, robust mechanical property, environmental degradability, and sensing capability of human motions. Herein, we prepared a series of SPI-based nanocomposite films by embedding a surface-hydroxylated high-dielectric constant inorganic filler, BaTiO3, (HBT) as interspersed nanoparticles into a biodegradable SPI substrate. In particular, the fabricated film comprising 0.5 wt % HBT and glycerin (GL), namely, SPI-HBT0.5-GL0.5, presents multifunctional properties, including a combination of excellent toughness, tensile strength, conductivity, translucence, recyclability, and excellent thermal stability. Meanwhile, this multifunctional film could be simply degraded in phosphate buffered saline solution and does not cause any pollution to the environment. Attractively, wearable sensors prepared with this particular material (SPI-HBT0.5-GL0.5) displayed excellent biocompatibility, prevented the occurrence of an immune response, and could accurately monitor various types of human joint motions and successfully remain operable after 10,000 cycles. These properties make the developed SPI-based film a great candidate in formulating biobased and multifunctional wearable electronics.

Abstract
A high-performance flexible conductive substrate is one of the key components for developing promising wearable devices. Concerning this, a sustainable, flexible, transparent, and conductive cellulose/ZnO/AZO (CZA) film was developed in this study. The cellulose was used as the transparent substrate. The added AZO was as the conductive layer and ZnO functioned as an interface buffer layer. Results showed that the interface buffer layer of ZnO effectively alleviated the intrinsic incompatibility of organic cellulose and inorganic AZO, resulting in the improvement of the performance of CZA film. In compared with the controlled cellulose/AZO (CA) film with 365 Ω/sq sheet resistance and 87% transmittance, this CZA film featured a low conductive sheet resistance of 115 Ω/sq and high transmittance of 89%, as well as low roughness of 1.85 nm Moreover, the existence of conducive ZnO buffer layer enabled the conductivity of CZA film to be stable under the bending treatment. Herein, a flexible electronic device was successfully prepared with the biomass materials, which would be available by a roll-to-roll production process.

Abstract
Flexible electrostatic capacitors have many potential applications in modern electric power systems. In this study, flexible cellulose-based dielectric films were prepared by compositing regenerated cellulose (RC) and one-dimensional BaTiO3 nanofiber (BTNF) via a simple and environmentally friendly process. To improve compatibility and distributional homogeneity of the fillers/matrix, BTNF was surface modified by dopamine to prepare the poly(dopamine) modified BTNF (PDA@BTNF). The obtained RC/PDA@BTNF composite films (RC-PDA@BTNF) possessed higher dielectric constant and breakdown strength than those of the RC and RC/BTNF composite films. In particular, RC/PDA@BTNF composite films with 2 vol% PDA@BTNF (RC-2PDA@BTNF) exhibited a high discharged energy density of 17.1 J/cm3 at 520 MV/m, which exceeded 40 % compared with that of RC-2BTNF at 460 MV/m. Meanwhile, RC-2PDA@BTNF could continuously work for more than 10,000 times with a high efficiency of 91 %. Furthermore, the composite films could maintain good dielectric properties for a long time when stored in vacuum condition (under 0.3 atm). Therefore, these flexible cellulose-based dielectric materials are promising in the field of novel high-performance film dielectric capacitors.

Abstract
In the present investigation, we prepared cellulose nanocrystal (CNC)-reinforced polyvinyl alcohol-cellulose (PVA-Cell) physical hydrogels using a simple blending method for actuator application. The prepared hydrogels were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and the surface and cross-section were studied by scanning electron microscopy. CNCs were well dispersed in the PVA-Cell hydrogel. In the preparation process, surface hydroxyl groups of the CNC and PVA-Cell matrix hydroxyl groups were interacted to produce uniform dispersion of CNCs in the hydrogels. Swelling behavior and compression studies revealed that the increase of the CNCs reinforced the crosslinking. The actuation test of the prepared hydrogels showed that the displacement linearly increased with the voltage, and the immense output displacement was observed at low CNC concentration. The prepared hydrogels are applicable for soft robot actuators and active lens.

Abstract
In this work, a rational design and construction of porous spherical NiO@NiMoO4 wrapped with PPy was reported for the application of high-performance supercapacitor (SC). The results show that the NiMoO4 modification changes the morphology of NiO, and the hollow internal morphology combined with porous outer shell of NiO@NiMoO4 and NiO@NiMoO4@PPy hybrids shows an increased specific surface area (SSA), and then promotes the transfer of ions and electrons. The shell of NiMoO4 and PPy with high electronic conductivity decreases the charge-transfer reaction resistance of NiO, and then improves the electrochemical kinetics of NiO. At 20Ag-1, the initial capacitances of NiO, NiMoO4, NiO@NiMoO4 and NiO@NiMoO4@PPy are 456.0, 803.2, 764.4 and 941.6Fg-1, respectively. After 10,000 cycles, the corresponding capacitances are 346.8, 510.8, 641.2 and 904.8Fg-1, respectively. Especially, the initial capacitance of NiO@NiMoO4@PPy is 850.2Fg-1, and remains 655.2Fg-1 with a high retention of 77.1% at 30Ag-1 even after 30,000 cycles. The calculation result based on density function theory shows that the much stronger Mo-O bonds are crucial for stabilizing the NiO@NiMoO4 composite, resulting in a good cycling stability of these materials.

Abstract
Flexible high dielectric materials are of prime importance for advanced portable, foldable and wearable devices. A series of flexible high dielectric thin films based on cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) and acid oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (o-MWCNT) was prepared in aqueous solution. Though no organic solvent was involved during the preparation, the SEM images showed that o-MWCNTs have good distribution within the CNF matrix. The dielectric constant of CNF/o-MWCNT (6.2 wt%) composite films was greatly increased from 25.24 for pure CNF to 73.88, while the loss tangent slightly decreased from 0.70 to 0.68, and the AC conductivity decreased from 3.15 × 10-7 S cm-1 for CNF to 1.77 × 10-7 S cm-1 (at 1 kHz). The abnormal decrease of loss tangent and AC conductivity were attributed to the introduction of oxide-containing groups on the surface of MWCNTs. The nanocomposite films showed excellent flexibility such that they could be bent a thousand times without visible damage. The presence of MWCNTs also helped to improve the thermal stability of the composite films. The excellent dielectric and mechanical properties of the CNF/o-MWCNT composite film demonstrate its great potential to be utilized in the field of energy storage.

Abstract
A series of composite films based on tetragonal barium titanate (BTO) and cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) with high dielectric constant are prepared using a casting method in aqueous solution. No organic solvent is involved during the preparation, which demonstrates the environmental friendliness of the novel material. With less than 30 wt% of filler loading, the excellent distribution of BTO nanoparticles within the CNF matrix is revealed by the FE-SEM images. The dielectric constant of the CNF/BTO (30 wt%) composite film reaches up to 188.03, which is about seven times higher than that of pure CNF (25.24), while the loss tangent only rises slightly from 0.70 to 1.21 (at 1 kHz). The thin films kept their dielectric properties on an acceptable level after repeatedly twisting or rolling 10 times. The improvement of thermal stability is observed with the presence of BTO. The outstanding dielectric properties of the CNF/BTO composite film indicates its great potential to be utilized in energy storage applications.

Abstract
Considerable toxic volatiles (CO and HCN) generation and high fire hazard has definitely compromised the application of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Here, a novel functionalization strategy for bulky h-BN is adopted to obtain the multifunctional CPBN, aiming at the flame retardancy reinforcement of TPU. The multifunctional CPBN is successfully prepared via the wrapping of phytic acid doped polypyrrole shell, following with the adsorption of copper ions. The obviously decreased peak heat release rate, peak smoke production rate and total smoke production values, obtained from cone test, confirms the reduced fire hazard of TPU composite with CPBN. The dramatic suppressions on CO and HCN releases can also be observed from TG-IR test. Tensile test demonstrates that adding CPBN favors the reinforcement in mechanical property of TPU. Thus, the concurrent improvements in flame retardancy and mechanical performance are achieved by incorporating CPBN. This work opens up new avenues for the functionalization of h-BN, and thus facilitates its promising applications in polymer-matrix composite.
