Abstract
Cellulose acetate film, as a biodegradable and biomass-derived material, has great potential applications in food packaging. However, the poor mechanical and antibacterial properties limit its applications. Herein, a highly flexible carbon nitride-polyethylene glycol-cellulose acetate (CN-PEG-CA) film was successfully prepared by combining graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) photocatalyst with cellulose acetate (CA). The g-C3N4 enables the film with antibacterial activity, as a green photocatalyst. PEG softens the rigid polymer CA and crosslinks CA, PEG, and g-C3N4 together by hydrogen bonding, as a flexible crosslinker. X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FT-IR) characterizations confirmed the successful preparation of the CN-PEG-CA film. The mechanical property tests demonstrated that adding PEG increased the elongation at break of the film by about 4 times. The composite film had high antibacterial activity, and the bactericidal rates on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were 99.98 % and 99.89 %, respectively. It effectively extended the shelf life of strawberries to 96 h and effectively maintained the quality of strawberries during storage. After 96 h, the weight loss rate of strawberries packaged with 15 % CN-PEG-CA film was 21.83 %, vitamin C content was 45.47 %, titratable acidity content was 0.89 %, and color, hardness and total soluble solids were well maintained. And biocompatibility test results showed that the film was safe and nontoxic. From the ecological and economic point of view, the highly flexible and biodegradable films with efficient photocatalytic antibacterial activity synthesized in this paper have great potential in the field of food packaging.

Abstract
The work is focused on the mechanical behavior description of porous filled composites that is not based on simulations or exact physical models, including different assumptions and simplifications with further comparison with real behavior of materials with different extents of accordance. The proposed process begins by measurement and further fitting of data by spatial exponential function zc = zm · p1b · p2c, where zc/zm is mechanical property value for composite/nonporous matrix, p1/p2 are suitable dimensionless structural parameters (equal to 1 for nonporous matrix) and b/c are exponents ensuring the best fitting. The fitting is followed by interpolation of b and c, which are logarithmic variables based on the observed mechanical property value of nonporous matrix with additions of further properties of matrix in some cases. The work is dedicated to the utilization of further suitable pairs of structural parameters to one pair published earlier. The proposed mathematical approach was demonstrated for PUR/rubber composites with a wide range of rubber filling, various porosity, and different polyurethane matrices. The mechanical properties derived from tensile testing included elastic modulus, ultimate strength and strain, and energy need for ultimate strain achievement. The proposed relationships between structure/composition and mechanical behavior seem to be suitable for materials containing randomly shaped filler particles and voids and, therefore, could be universal (and also hold materials with less complicated microstructure) after potential following and more exact research.

Abstract
Photothermal evaporation using solar energy is a sustainable way to produce fresh water from seawater. Aiming to explore functional materials as a solar-energized evaporator with enhanced evaporation rate and pollutant tolerance, this study was to synthesize a self-floating composite graphene aerogel (GA) doped with Enteromorpha and modified polyethylene glycol (PEG), named as PEGA using solar energy for desalination. Physio-chemical properties and evaporative mechanism of PEGA were experimentally investigated and analyzed with respect to molecular weight, PEG dosage, and ratio of Enteromorpha and graphene oxide. Experimental data revealed that the modification of PEG improved hydrophilic functional ability of PEGA, resulting in increasing the evaporation rate and photothermal conversion efficiency up to 2.55 kg/(m2·h) and 105.71 %, respectively. The ion removal rate of seawater exceeds 99.99 % via the PEGA conducted solar evaporation. Furthermore, PEGA possessed an excellent property of salinity emulsion pollution tolerance. Particularly, the evaporation rate of the PEG-modified biomass-based aerogel was 2.84 kg/(m2·h) in a 15 wt% NaCl solution (1 sun, 6 h) and 2.50 kg/(m2·h) at 1 h. The formation of hydrogen bonds between -OH of PEG and water molecules assist to conduct water along the graphene matrix to improve water evaporation. The cost of the graphene aerogel modified by Enteromorpha was reduced by 38.88 % less than the original graphene aerogel. The results from this study will greatly promote the application of graphene aerogel for desalination via solar evaporation.

Abstract
To improve the physical strength of regenerated cellulose fibers, cellulose dissolution was analyzed with a conductor-like screening model for real solvents in which 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (AMIMCl) worked only as a hydrogen bond acceptor while dissolving the cellulose. This process could be promoted by the addition of urea, glycerol, and choline chloride. The dissolution and regeneration of cellulose was achieved through dry-jet and wet-spinning. The results demonstrated that the addition of hydrogen bond donors and acceptors either on their own or in combination can enhance the tensile strength, but their effects on the crystallinity of the regenerated fibers were quite limited. Compared with the regenerated fibers without any additives, the tensile strength was improved from 54.43 MPa to 139.62 MPa after introducing the choline chloride and glycerol, while related the crystallinity was only changed from 60.06% to 62.97%. By contrast, a more compact structure and fewer pores on the fiber surface were identified in samples with additives along with well-preserved cellulose frameworks. Besides, it should be noted that an optimization in the overall thermal stability was obtained in samples with additives. The significant effect of regenerated cellulose with the addition of glycerol was attributed to the reduction of cellulose damage by slowing down the dissolution and cross-linking in the cellulose viscose. The enhancement of the physical strength of regenerated cellulose fiber can be realized by the appropriate adjustment of the hydrogen bond distribution in the ionic liquid system with additives.

Abstract
Cellulose and its derivative aerogels have attracted much attention due to their renewable and biodegradable properties. However, the significant shrinkage in the supercritical drying process causes the relatively high thermal conductivity and low mechanical property of cellulose and its derivatives aerogels. Considering the pearl-necklace-like skeleton network of silica aerogels, which can improve thermal insulation property and mechanical property. Herein, we propose a new strategy for fabricating cellulose diacetate aerogels (CDAAs) with pearl-necklace-like skeletons by using tert-butanol (TBA) as exchange solvent after experiencing the freezing-drying course. CDAAs obtained have the low density of 0.09 g cm-3, the nanopore size in the range of 10-40 nm, the low thermal conductivity of 0.024 W m-1 K-1 at ambient conditions, and the excellent mechanical properties (0.18 MPa at 3% strain, 0.38 MPa at 5% strain). Ultimately, CDAAs with moderate mechanical property paralleled to cellulose-derived aerogels obtained from supercritical drying process are produced, only simultaneously owning the radial shrinkage of 6.2%. The facile method for fabricating CDAAs could provide a new reference for constructing cellulose/cellulose-derived aerogels and other biomass aerogels.

Abstract
Cellulose is one of the most abundant natural polymers with excellent biocompatibility, non-toxicity, flexibility, and renewable source. Regenerated cellulose (RC) products result from the dissolution-regeneration process risen from solvent and anti-solvent reagents, respectively. The regeneration process changes the cellulose chain conformation from cellulose I to cellulose II, leads the structure to have more amorphous regions with improved crystallinity, and inclines towards extensive modification on the RC products such as hydrogel, aerogel, cryogel, xerogel, fibers, membrane, and thin film. Recently, RC products are accentuated to be used in the agriculture field to develop future sustainable agriculture as alternatives to conventional agriculture systems. However, different solvent types and production techniques have great influences on the end properties of RC products. Besides, the fabrication of RC products from solely RC lacks excellent mechanical characteristics. Thus, the flexibility of RC has allowed it to be homogenously blended with other materials to enhance the final products' properties. This review will summarize the properties and preparation of potential RC-based products that reflect its application to replace soil the plantation medium, govern the release of the fertilizer, provide protection on crops and act as biosensors.

Abstract
Nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) has gained much popularity over the last decade as a preferred nanomaterial in varied applications, despite its laborious industrial production and higher cost. Its production methods have undergone a great deal of metamorphosis lately. The main emphasis has been on the environment-friendly and green processes, in addition to the sustainable and renewable feedstock. Globally, the researchers have explored biomass and waste cellulosic materials as renewable sources for NCC extraction. Newer and/or improved process alternatives, e.g., ultrasonication, enzymatic hydrolysis and mechanical treatments have been applied successfully for producing high-quality material. Detailed investigations on optimizing the overall yield from cheaper feedstock have yielded obvious benefits. This is still work in progress. The present review majorly focuses on the advances made in the NCC preparation field from biomass and waste cellulosic materials in last three years (2016 - till date). Collaborative efforts between chemical engineers and research scientists are crucial for the success of this really amazing nanomaterial.
