Abstract
The imidazole nucleus represents a significant group of heterocyclic molecules with diverse significance in the modern world due to its exploration potential and various pharmacological applications. The relevance of imidazole and its derivatives has gained popularity in recent years, especially in the production of commercial drugs and the treatment of various conditions. The imidazole nucleus is present in many natural compounds and widely distributed in essential amino acids, such as l-histidine, whose derivatives exhibit powerful pharmacological properties. In this review, we delve into the historical timeline and development of synthetic pathways for tri- and tetra-substituted imidazoles used in the renowned Radziszewski reaction. Furthermore, we explore various bacteriological applications documented in the literature, as well as current advances in preclinical approaches to imidazole-based drug discovery. Tri- or tetra-substituted imidazole derivatives show strong potential for new synthesis methods, such as reflux or microwave, as well as various biological activities.

Abstract
A green, efficient, and straightforward methodology for the three-component synthesis of 2,4,5-triarylimidazole has been developed under solvent-free conditions using unconventional CuB4O7 as a promoter. This green approach encouragingly provides access to a library of 2,4,5-tri-arylimidazole. Also, we have been able to isolate the compound (5) and (6) in situ, which provides an insight into the direct conversion of CuB4O7 into copper acetate in the presence of NH4OAc under solvent-free condition. The main advantage of this protocol includes an easy reaction procedure, short reaction time, and easy work up of the product without using any tedious separation method.

Abstract
Ultrasonic irradiation is employed to accelerate organic reactions. Under sonication reduced time, good selectivity, excellent yield, and milder conditions were observed for many organic reactions. Ultrasonic reactions are increasingly used as green, clean, and environment-friendly methods in organic synthesis in terms of energy conservation and waste minimization. The use of ultrasound irradiation is increasing in coming years. The use of ultrasound irradiation in the synthesis of five-membered N-heterocycles is depicted in the present review article.

Abstract
A highly efficient and recyclable catalyst, cerium-immobilized silicotungstic acid nanoparticle-impregnated zirconia (Ce@STANPs/ZrO2), has been synthesized. The catalytic activity of Ce@STANPs/ZrO2 was investigated for the first time in multicomponent synthesis of isatin-based imidazoles under microwave irradiation in water. Ce@STANPs/ZrO2 was used for C=O bond activation in overall reaction to synthesize isatin-based imidazoles. The structure of catalyst was confirmed by characterization techniques, such as Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM)/energy dispersive X-ray, elemental mapping, transmission electron microscopy, ζ-potential and diffraction light scattering, X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis, temperature-programmed desorption-NH3, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) analyses. The recovered catalyst was found to be efficient up to seventh cycle and was confirmed by FTIR, SEM, XRD, EPR, and ICP-AES analyses. The advantages of the present protocol are recyclability of catalyst, green reaction conditions, excellent yield (94%) of the products, shorter reaction time period (5-7 min), and clean reaction profile.

Abstract
Abstract
Ten 1,2,4,5-tetra-substituted imidazole derivatives have been synthesized with a 2-hydroxyethy substituent at the 1-nitrogen atom and potentially electron releasing hydroxy-, methoxy-, dimethylamino- or nitro substituents in various positions on the benzene ring located on the 2-carbon atom. The prototypical derivative with an unsubstituted phenyl ring at the 2-position is also reported. The compounds are obtained in excellent yields (average 86%) via a four-component cyclocondensation reaction of benzil, ethanolamine, and the appropriate aromatic carbaldehyde together with ammonium acetate. The reaction uses a novel ionic liquid catalyst, DEAHS (diethyl ammonium hydrogen sulfate), under solvent-free conditions and a green synthetic protocol. The key advantages of this process are high yield, shorter reaction times and ease of work-up. Furthermore, the products can be purified by a non-chromatographic method and the catalyst is re-usable. All of these newly synthesized compounds have been characterized from spectral data; the X-ray structures of three representative molecules are also detailed.

Abstract
A new and efficient solvent free synthesis of 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles (3a-3j) was achieved by N-acetyl glycine (NAG) catalyzed three components condensation of aldehydes, benzil and ammonium acetate. Our synthetic methodology accommodated a range of various substituted alkyl and aryl aldehydes. Evaluation of α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of these imidazole derivatives revealed that most of them presented good α-glucosidase inhibition at low micro-molar concentrations. Among the synthesized compounds, compound 3c, bearing the ortho-hydroxy phenyl substituent at position 2 displayed the highest inhibitory activity with an IC50 value 74.32±0.59 μM. In silico molecular docking for all compounds and computational studies of the most active compound 3c were also performed.

Abstract
A one pot, three-component condensation of benzoin/benzyl, an aldehyde, and ammonium acetate using diethyl bromophosphate as a mild oxidant is achieved to form trisubstituted imidazole compounds. Under ultrasound irradiation, a smooth condensation occurs to get the 2, 4, 5-triaryl-1H-imidazole compounds in good to excellent yields. The study explores the scope and limitation of diethyl bromophosphate as an oxidant and suggests advantages, viz., simplicity of operation, reduction in time, and an increase in product yields.
