Rhodium-catalyzed oxidative homologation of N-pyrimidyl indolines with alkynes via dual C H activation: Facile synthesis of benzo[g]indolines

Nickel-Catalyzed Tandem Cyclization of 1,6-Diynes with Indolines/Indoles through Dual C-H Bond Activation

A nickel-catalyzed site-selective tandem cyclization of 1,6-diynes with substituted indolines or indoles through consecutive dual C-H bond activation is described. In the reaction, substituted fused indole and carbazole derivatives were observed in good to excellent yields, in which three consecutive C-C bonds formed in one pot. Later, in the presence of DDQ, the aromatization of the indoline derivative was converted to the indole derivative. A possible reaction mechanism involving dual C-H bond activation as a key step was proposed to account for the present reaction.

Three-Component Chemo-Selective Synthesis of N-(o-Alkenylaryl) Pyrazoles by Pyrazole Annulation and Rh-Catalyzed Chemo-Selective Aryl C-H Addition Cascade

By using readily available enaminones, aryl hydrazine hydrochlorides, and alkynes as starting materials, the chemo-selective three-component synthesis of atropisomeric N-(o-alkenylaryl) pyrazoles has been efficiently accessed with rhodium catalysis. Unlike Satoh-Miura reaction leading to the alkyne-based C-H benzannulation by using prior prepared N-phenyl pyrazoles and alkynes as substrates, this three-component protocol displays unprecedented selectivity of C-H alkenylation by blocking the second round metal alkenylation with the key protonation step in the presence of acids.

Synthesis and Photophysical Study of Heteropolycyclic and Carbazole Motif: Nickel-Catalyzed Chelate-Assisted Cascade C-H Activations/Annulations

Herein, nickel-catalyzed synthesis of polyarylcarbazole through sequential C-H bond activations has been described. Regioselective indole C2/C3 functionalization has been achieved in the presence of indole C7-H, which is quite challenging. In addition, this approach also gives easy access to building a heteropolycyclic motif through C6/C7 C-H functionalization of indoline. This methodology is not limited to aromatic internal alkynes as coupling partners; aliphatic alkynes have also shown good tolerance. Notably, during the optimization the catalytic enhancement with sodium iodide as an additive has been observed. We have also studied the photophysical properties of these highly conjugated molecules.

Rh(iii)-Catalyzed [3 + 2]/[4 + 2] annulation of acetophenone oxime ethers with 3-acetoxy-1,4-enynes involving C–H activation

A novel, synthetically simple, selective rhodium(iii)-catalyzed [3 + 2]/[4 + 2] annulation cascade reaction to construct complex azafluorenone frameworks has been developed.

One-Pot Synthesis of Furo[3,4-c]indolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines through Rh(III)-Catalyzed Cascade Reactions of 2-Phenylindoles with 4-Hydroxy-2-alkynoates

An efficient and regioselective synthesis of fused polycyclic furo[3,4-c]indolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines through Rh(III)-catalyzed cascade C-H activation/annulation/lactonization of 2-arylindoles and 4-hydroxy-2-alkynoates has been developed. This cascade reaction displays high step economy and efficiency and tolerates various functional groups. The titled polycyclic furo[3,4-c]indolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines exhibit fluorescence emission.

Rh(III)-Catalyzed Sequential C-H Amination/Annulation Cascade Reactions: Synthesis of Multisubstituted Benzimidazoles

An efficient and practical method to construct benzimidazoles via Rh(III)-catalyzed sequential C-H amination and annulation cascade reaction has been developed. The cascade reaction displays high step, atom, and redox economy, is compatible with the air, and has good functional group tolerance and high efficiency. The titled products can be easily further converted into imidazo[4,5-c]acridines, which were observed unique fluorescent properties.
