Abstract
The coordinating properties of two families of ylides, namely, phosphonium ylides and iminophosphoranes, differently substituted at the ylidic center (CH2- vs NiPr-), have been investigated in structurally related cationic phosphine-ylide Rh(CO)2 complexes obtained from readily available phosphine-phosphonium salt precursors derived from an ortho-phenylene bridge. However, while the Rh(CO)2 complex bearing the P+-CH2- donor moiety proved to be stable, the P═NiPr donor end appeared to induce lability to one of the CO groups. All of the RhI carbonyl complexes in both ylide series were fully characterized, including through X-ray diffraction analysis. Based on the experimental and calculated infrared (IR) CO stretching frequencies in Rh(CO)2 complexes, we evidenced that the phosphonium ylide ligand is a stronger donor than the iminophosphorane ligand. However, we also found that the difference in the intrinsic electronic properties can be largely compensated by the introduction of an iPr substituent on the N atom of the iminophosphorane, hence pointing to the noninnocent role of the peripheral substituent and opening novel possibilities to tune the properties of metal complexes containing ylide ligands.

Abstract
The use of iminophosphoryl-tethered ruthenium carbene complexes to activate secondary phosphine P-H bonds is reported. Complexes of type [(p-cymene)-RuC(SO2 Ph)(PPh2 NR)] (with R = SiMe3 or 4-C6 H4 -NO2 ) were found to exhibit different reactivities depending on the electronics of the applied phosphine and the substituent at the iminophosphoryl moiety. Hence, the electron-rich silyl-substituted complex undergoes cyclometallation or shift of the imine moiety after cooperative activation of the P-H bond across the M=C linkage, depending on the electronics of the applied phosphine. Deuteration experiments and computational studies proved that cyclometallation is initiated by the activation process at the M=C bond and triggered by the high electron density at the metal in the phosphido intermediates. Consistently, replacement of the trimethylsilyl (TMS) group by the electron-withdrawing 4-nitrophenyl substituent allowed the selective cooperative P-H activation to form stable activation products.

Abstract
Transition-metal alkylidenes have exhibited wide applications in organometallic chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry, however, cyclic Schrock-carbene-like bis-alkylidenes of group 4 metals with a four-electron donor from an alkylidene have not been reported. Herein, the synthesis and characterization of five-membered cyclic bis-alkylidenes of titanium (4 a,b) and zirconium (5 a,b) are reported, as the first well-defined group 4 metallacyclopentatrienes, by two-electron reduction of their corresponding titana- and zirconacyclopentadienes. DFT analyses of 4 a show a four-electron donor (σ-donation and π-donation) from an alkylidene carbon to the metal center. The reaction of 4 a with N,N'-diisopropylcarbodiimide (DIC) leads to the [2+2]-cycloaddition product 6. Compound 4 a reacted with CO, affording the oxycyclopentadienyl titanium complex 7. These reactivities demonstrate the multiple metal-carbon bond character. The reactions of 4 a or 5 a with cyclooctatetraene (COT) or azobenzene afforded sandwich titanium complex 8 or diphenylhydrazine-coordinated zirconacyclopentadiene 9, respectively, which exhibit two-electron reductive ability.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of a range of bis(iminophosphoranyl)phosphide (BIPP) group 4 and coinage metals complexes is reported. BIPP ligands bind group 4 metals in a pseudo fac-fashion, and the central phosphorus atom enables the formation of d0-d10 heterobimetallic complexes. Various DFT computational tools (including AIM, ELF and NCI) show that the phosphorus-metal interaction is either electrostatic (Ti) or dative (Au, Cu). A bridged homobimetallic Cu-Cu complex was also prepared and its spectroscopic properties were investigated. The theoretical analysis of the P-P bond in BIPP complexes reveals that (i) BIPP are closely related to ambiphilic triphosphenium (TP) cations; (ii) the P-P bonds are normal covalent (i.e. not dative) in both BIPP and TP.

Abstract
Because of the lack of strong π-interaction in their bonds connecting building units, most of the metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent-organic frameworks (COFs) achieved so far are insulators or wide-bandgap semiconductors. The design of metal-like frameworks based on known chemical components is a challenge. This work reports that aryl borons can be linked together through isocyanides to form stable and easily accessible low-dimensional boronic-organic frameworks (BOFs). Particularly, the boron atoms in the BOFs behave like transition metals, forming the combined σ-donation and π-backdonation bonds instead of the usual electron-sharing bonds with the isocyanide linkers. This peculiar bonding endows BOFs with semimetal and narrow-bandgap semiconductor features, which are different from MOFs and COFs and may be found to be useful in future nanoelectronics. The results open a door to integrating the knowledge of the donor-acceptor chemistry in the main group into materials science.

Abstract
Organomagnesium compounds (Grignard reagents) are among the most useful organometallic reagents and have greatly accelerated the advancement of synthetic chemistry and related sciences. Nevertheless, heavy Grignard reagents based on the metals calcium, strontium or barium are not widely used, mainly due to their rather inert heavy alkaline-earth metals and extremely high reactivity of their corresponding Grignard-type reagents. Here we report the generation and reaction chemistry of butadienyl heavy Grignard reagents whose extremely high reactivity is successfully tamed. Facile synthesis of perfluoro-π-extended pentalene and naphthalene derivatives is realized by the in situ generated heavy Grignard reagents via intramolecular C-F/C-H bond cleavage. These obtained perfluorodibenzopentalene and perfluorodinaphthopentalene derivatives show low-lying LUMO levels, with one being the lowest value so far among all pentalene derivatives. Our results set an exciting example for the meaningful synthetic application of heavy Grignard reagents.

Abstract
The preparation of palladium thioketone and T-shaped carbene complexes by treatment of thiophosphoryl substituted Li/Cl carbenoids with a Pd(0) precursor is reported. Depending on the steric demand, the anion-stabilizing ability of the silyl moiety (by negative hyperconjugation effects) and the remaining negative charge at the carbenic carbon atom, isolation of a three-coordinate, T-shaped palladium carbene complex is possible. In contrast, insufficient charge stabilization results in the transfer of the sulfur of the thiophosphoryl moiety and thus in the formation of a thioketone complex. While the thioketones are stable compounds the carbene complexes are revealed to be highly reactive and decompose under elimination of Pd metal. Computational studies revealed that both complexes are formed by a substitution mechanism. While the ketone turned out to be the thermodynamically favored product, the carbene is kinetically favored and thus preferentially formed at low reaction temperatures.

Abstract
The title compound, C19H17PS2, results from the direct deprotonation of diphenylmethylphosphine sulfide and subsequent reaction with diphenyl disulfide. The C—P and C—S bond lengths of 1.8242 (18) and 1.8009 (18) Å, respectively, of the central P—C—S linkage are comparable to those found in the sulfonyl analogue, but are considerably longer than those reported for the dimetallated sulfonyl compound. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings of the diphenylmethyl moiety is 69.46 (7)°. No distinct intermolecular interactions are present in the crystal structure.

Abstract
Herein, we report the preparation of a new unsymmetrical, bis(thiophosphinoyl)-substituted dilithio methandiide and its application for the synthesis of zirconium- and palladium-carbene complexes. These complexes were found to exhibit remarkably shielded (13)C NMR shifts, which are much more highfield-shifted than those of "normal" carbene complexes. DFT calculations were performed to determine the origin of these observations and to distinguish the electronic structure of these and related carbene complexes compared with the classical Fischer and Schrock-type complexes. Various methods show that these systems are best described as highly polarized Schrock-type complexes, in which the metal-carbon bond possesses more electrostatic contributions than in the prototype Schrock systems, or even as "masked" methandiides. As such, geminal dianions represent a kind of "extreme" Schrock-type ligands favoring the ionic resonance structure M(+)-CR2(-) as often used in textbooks to explain the nucleophilic nature of Schrock complexes.

Abstract
The title compound, C(21)H(21)O(2)PS(2), was obtained from the corresponding dilithio methandiide by treatment with iodo-methane. The bond lengths and angles deviate considerably from those in the dimetallated compound. These differences are most pronounced in the PCS backbone. While the title compound features C-P and C-S distances of 1.9082 (17) and 1.8348 (17) Å, respectively, the dianion showed C-P(av) distances shortened by 11% [1.710 (4) Å] and C-S distances shortened by 12% [1.614 (3) Å]. Additionally, the P-C-S angle experiences a contraction by methyl-ation of the dianion from 121.4 (2) to 111.96 (9)° in the title compound.
