Abstract
In this work, the spinel FeAl2O4 was prepared and functionalized step-by-step with silica and alaninium nitrate ionic liquid ([DL-Ala][NO3]) to produce a bio-based multi-layered nanostructure (nano FeAl2O4-SiO2@[DL-Ala][NO3]). The obtained magnetized inorganic-bioorganic nanohybrid characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), vibrating-sample magnetometry (VSM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis/differential scanning calorimetry (TGA/DSC), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and X-Ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. A facile synthesis of some tricyclic dihydro-spiro[chromeno[2,3-c]pyrazole-4,2'-indene]triones and dihydro-spiro[chromeno[2,3-c]pyrazole-4,3'-indoline]diones via domino four-component one-pot reaction of various hydrazine derivatives, ethyl acetoacetate, heterocyclic 1,2-ketones (ninhydrin, isatin, 5-bromoisatin) and cyclic 1,3-diketones (dimedone and 1,3-cyclohexanedine), examined in the presence of nano FeAl2O4-SiO2@[DL-Ala][NO3] nanohybrid in refluxing aqueous media, successfully. The multi-aspect characteristics of the nanohybrid which consist of magnetized inorganic and bioorganic parts, could be the reason of its special catalytic efficacy. The recovery and reusability of the FeAl2O4-SiO2@[DL-Ala][NO3] magnetized nanoparticles (MNPs) were performed in two runs without significant activity loss.

Abstract
Herbal medicine (HM) is crucial in disease management and contains complex compounds with few active pharmacological ingredients, presenting challenges in quality control of raw materials and formulations. Effective separation, identification, and analysis of active components are vital for HM efficacy. Traditional methods like liquid-liquid extraction and solid-phase extraction are time-consuming and environmentally concerning, with limitations such as sorbent issues, pressure, and clogging. Magnetic solid-phase extraction uses magnetic sorbents for targeted analyte separation and enrichment, offering rapid, pressure-free separation. However, inorganic magnetic particles' aggregation and oxidation, as well as lack of selectivity, have led to the use of various coatings and modifications to enhance specificity and selectivity for complex herbal samples. This review delves into magnetic composites in HM pretreatment, specifically focusing on encapsulated or modified magnetic nanoparticles and materials like silica, ionic liquids, graphene family derivatives, carbon nanotubes, metal-organic frameworks, covalent organic frameworks, and molecularly imprinted polymers.

Abstract
In the present study, mesalamine-functionalized on magnetic nanoparticles (mesalamine/GPTMS@SiO2@Fe3O4) is fabricated as an efficient and magnetically recoverable nanocatalyst. The as-prepared nanocatalyst was successfully synthesized in three steps using a convenient and low-cost method via modification of the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles with silica and GPTMS, respectively, to afford GPTMS@SiO2@Fe3O4. Finally, treatment with mesalamine as a powerful antioxidant generates the final nanocatalyst. Then, its structure was characterized by FT-IR, SEM, TEM, EDX, XRD, BET, VSM, and TGA techniques. The average size was found to be approximately 38 nm using TEM analysis and the average crystallite size was found to be approximately 27.02 nm using XRD analysis. In particular, the synthesized nanocatalyst exhibited strong thermal stability up to 400 °C and high magnetization properties. The activity of the synthesized nanocatalyst was evaluated in the tandem Knoevenagel-Michael cyclocondensation of various aromatic aldehydes, dimedone and malononitrile under a dry grinding method at room temperature to provide biologically active 2-amino-4H-benzo[b]pyran derivatives products in a short time with good yields. The presented procedure offers several advantages including gram-scale synthesis, good green chemistry metrics (GCM), easy fabrication of the catalyst, atom economy (AE), no use of column chromatography, and avoiding the generation of toxic materials. Furthermore, the nanocatalyst can be reused for 8 cycles with no loss of performance by using an external magnet.

Abstract
In this work, D-(-)-α-phenylglycine (APG)-functionalized magnetic nanocatalyst (Fe3O4@SiO2@PTS-APG) was designed and successfully prepared in order to implement the principles of green chemistry for the synthesis of polyhydroquinoline (PHQ) and 1,4-dihydropyridine (1,4-DHP) derivatives under ultrasonic irradiation in EtOH. After preparing of the nanocatalyst, its structure was confirmed by different spectroscopic methods or techniques including Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The performance of Fe3O4@SiO2@PTS-APG nanomaterial, as a heterogeneous catalyst for the Hantzsch condensation, was examined under ultrasonic irradiation and various conditions. The yield of products was controlled under various conditions to reach more than 84% in just 10 min, which indicates the high performance of the nanocatalyst along with the synergistic effect of ultrasonic irradiation. The structure of the products was identified by melting point as well as FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopic methods. The Fe3O4@SiO2@PTS-APG nanocatalyst is easily prepared from commercially available, lower toxic and thermally stable precursors through a cost-effective, highly efficient and environmentally friendly procedure. The advantages of this method include simplicity of the operation, reaction under mild conditions, the use of an environmentally benign irradiation source, obtaining pure products with high efficiency in short reaction times without using a tedious path, which all of them address important green chemistry principles. Finally, a reasonable mechanism is proposed for the preparation of polyhydroquinoline (PHQ) and 1,4-dihydropyridine (1,4-DHP) derivatives in the presence of Fe3O4@SiO2@PTS-APG bifunctional magnetic nanocatalyst.

Abstract
In this study, CoFe2O4 nanoparticles were prepared by the co-precipitation method then surface modified with Capsaicin (Capsicum annuum ssp.). The virgin CoFe2O4 NPs and Capsaicin-coated CoFe2O4 NPs (CPCF NPs) were characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM, and TEM. The antimicrobial potential and photocatalytic degradation efficiencies of the prepared samples via Fuchsine basic (FB) were investigated. The results revealed that CoFe2O4 NPs have spherical shapes and their diameter varied from 18.0 to 30.0 nm with an average particle size of 25.0 nm. Antimicrobial activity was tested on Gram-positive (S. aureusATCC 52923) and Gram-negative (E. coli ATCC 52922) by disk diffusion and broth dilution methods to determine the zone of inhibition (ZOI) and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), respectively. UV-assisted photocatalytic degradation of FB was examined. Various parameters affecting the photocatalytic efficiency such as pH, initial concentration of FB, and dose of nanocatalyst were studied. The in-vitro ZOI and MIC results verified that CPCF NPs were more active upon Gram-Positive S. aureus ATCC 52923 (23.0 mm ZOI and 0.625 μg/ml MIC) than Gram-Negative E. coli ATCC 52922 (17.0 mm ZOI and 1.250 μg/ml MIC). Results obtained from the photocatalytic activity indicated that the maximum FB removal achieving 94.6% in equilibrium was observed using 20.0 mg of CPCF NPS at pH 9.0. The synthesized CPCF NPs were effective in the removal of FB and also as potent antimicrobial agent against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria with potential medical and environmental applications.

Abstract
This work reports the synthesis, characterization, and in vitro release studies of pH- and temperature-sensitive Fe3O4-SiO2-poly(NVCL-co-MAA) nanocomposite. Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared by chemical coprecipitation, coated with SiO2 by the Stöber method, and functionalized with vinyl groups. The copolymer poly(N-vinylcaprolactam-co-methacrylic acid) (poly(NVCL-co-MAA)) was grafted onto the functionalized Fe3O4-SiO2 nanoparticles by free radical polymerization. XRD, FTIR, TGA, VSM, and TEM techniques were performed to characterize the nanocomposite. The release behavior of Doxorubicin (DOX) loaded in the nanocomposite at pH 5.8 and 7.4, and two temperatures, 25 and 37 °C, was studied. According to the release studies, approximately 55% of DOX is released in 72 h at pH 7.4, regardless of temperature. At pH 5.8, 78% of DOX was released in 48 h at 25 °C, and when increasing the temperature to 37 °C, more than 95 % of DOX was released in 24 h. The DOX release data treated with Zero-order, first-order, Higuchi, and Korsmeyer-Peppas models showed that Higuchi's model best fits the data, indicating that the DOX is released by diffusion. The findings suggest that the synthesized nanocomposite may be useful as a DOX carrier in biomedical applications.

Abstract
Removal of dye pollutants from wastewater is among the most important emerging needs in environmental science and engineering. The main objective of our work is to develop new magnetic core–shell nanostructures and explore their use for potential removal of pollutants from water using an external magnetic field. Herein, we have prepared magnetic core–shell nanoparticles that demonstrated excellent dye pollutant adsorbent properties. These nanoparticles are composed of a manganese ferrite magnetic core coated with silica, to protect the core and enable further functionalisation, then finally coated with ceria, which is shown to be an effective adsorbent. The magnetic core–shell nanostructures have been synthesized by a modification of solvothermal synthesis. The nanoparticles were fully characterised at each stage of the synthesis by powder X-ray diffraction (pXRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). These particles were found to be effective in removing methylene blue (MB) dye from water, which was validated by UV-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy. These particles can be quickly removed from solution using a permanent magnet and then can be recycled after being placed in the furnace at 400 °C to burn off any organic residues. The particles were found to retain their ability to adsorb the pollutant after several cycles and TEM images of the particles after several cycles showed no change in the morphology. This research demonstrated the capacity of magnetic core–shell nanostructures to be used for water remediation. Magnetic core–shell nanoparticles have been synthesised, characterised and used for methylene blue dye removal from water. They can be magnetically extracted and show no reduction in efficiency after several cycles.![]()

Abstract
Coloured wastewater is a major issue of today for human health and ecology. Among all available processes such as physical, chemical, biological and electrochemical methods, photocatalysis can be a promising solution because of its ability to degrade colour-causing compounds completely by converting them into simpler molecules (H2O, CO2) depending on dye structure. In this work, NiFe2O4 was synthesized by the co-precipitation method. Furthermore, the composites of NiFe2O4 with TiO2 were synthesized by varying amounts of TiO2. The spinel and composites were characterized by XRD, ZETA analysis and UV-DRS. Their photocatalytic activities were investigated using the photocatalytic degradation of reactive turquoise blue 21 (RB 21) dye as model pollutants under sunlight. The increased absorption of the visible light and the enhanced separation of the electron-hole pairs due to the relative energy band positions in NiFe2O4 and TiO2 are considered as the main advantages. Our results showed that NiFe2O4-based nanocomposites could be used as an effective and magnetic retrievable photocatalyst.

Abstract
Water is necessary for the survival of life on Earth. A wide range of pollutants has contaminated water resources in the last few decades. The presence of contaminants incredibly different dyes in waste, potable, and surface water is hazardous to environmental and human health. Different types of dyes are the principal contaminants in water that need sudden attention because of their widespread domestic and industrial use. The toxic effects of these dyes and their ability to resist traditional water treatment procedures have inspired the researcher to develop an eco-friendly method that could effectively and efficiently degrade these toxic contaminants. Here, in this review, we explored the effective and economical methods of metal-based nanomaterials photocatalytic degradation for successfully removing dyes from wastewater. This study provides a tool for protecting the environment and human health. In addition, the insights into the transformation of solar energy for photocatalytic reduction of toxic metal ions and photocatalytic degradation of dyes contaminated wastewater will open a gate for water treatment research. The mechanism of photocatalytic degradation and the parameters that affect the photocatalytic activities of various photocatalysts have also been reported.

Abstract
A novel ecofriendly heterogeneous catalyst containing Schiff base coordinated Cu(II) covalently attached to Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles through imidazolium linker [Fe3O4@SiO2-Im(Br)-SB-Cu (II)] was synthesized and characterized by using various techniques. The catalytic efficiency of this nano-catalyst was tested in water in the synthesis of tetrazole derivatives using two one-pot multicomponent reaction (MCR) models: The synthesis of 1-aryl 1H-tetrazole derivatives from the reaction of aniline, triethyl orthoformate, and sodium azide and the synthesis of 5-aryl 1H-tetrazole derivatives from the reaction of benzaldehyde, hydroxy amine hydrochloride, and sodium azide. The investigation showed that (i) The catalyst is highly efficient in the synthesis of tetrazole derivatives with high yield (97%) in aqueous medium and mild temperatures; (ii) The catalytic effectiveness is due to the synergy between the metallic center and the imidazolium ion and (iii) The reuse advantage of the catalyst without contamination or significant loss (12% of loss range) in the catalytic activity.

Abstract
This study reports the preparation of catalyst grains based on oxyhydroxides of iron and zirconium via the coprecipitation method and their application in the degradation of 4-nitrophenol. The morphology, microstructure, and surface composition of these catalysts were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, nitrogen physisorption, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The catalytic activity of the grains was assessed in the degradation of 4-nitrophenol in a heterogeneous system at different operating conditions. Degradation rates up to 93% were obtained after 4 h of contact time where the catalytic activity of tested materials was higher at pH 7 than in acidic and basic conditions. Amorphous iron hydroxide with a ratio of 75% Zr+25%Fe showed the best catalytic properties. These novel materials are an interesting alternative for facing the water pollution caused by organic compounds.

Abstract
Abstract
During recent years, magnetic separation has proven to be a highly indispensable and sustainable tool for facile separation of catalysts from the reaction medium with the aid of only an external magnetic force that precludes the requirement of energy intensive, solvent based centrifugation or filtration techniques. Extensive research in the area of catalysis has clearly divulged that while designing any catalyst, the foremost features that need to be paid due attention to include high activity, ready recoverability and good reusability. Fortunately, the magnetic nanocatalysts involving a superparamagnetic core material that could comprise of iron oxides such as magnetite, maghemite or hematite or mixed ferrites (CoFe2O4, CuFe2O4) have offered bright prospects of designing the ideal catalysts by proving their efficacy as strong support material that could be further engineered with various tools of nanotechnology and efficiently catalyze various C–heterobond formation reactions. This chapter provides succinct overview of all the approaches utilized for fabricating different types of magnetic nanoparticles and strategies adopted for imparting them durability. The prime forte however remains to exclusively showcase the applications of the various types of magnetic nanocatalysts in C–O, C–N, C–S and miscellaneous (C–Se, C–Te) bond formation reactions which are anticipated to benefit the synthetic community on a broad spectrum by helping them rationalize and analyze the key features that need to be taken into account, while developing these magical nanostructured catalytic systems for boosting the green bond formation reactions/transformations.

Abstract
In this work, a new magnetized composite of bismuth (Fe3-x Bi x O4) was prepared and functionalized stepwise with silica, triethylargininium iodide ionic liquid, and Zn(ii) to prepare a multi-layered core-shell bio-nanostructure, [Fe3-x Bi x O4/SiO2@l-ArgEt3 +I-/Zn(ii)]. The modified bismuth magnetic amino acid-containing nanocomposite was characterized using several techniques including Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), thermogravimetric/differential scanning calorimetric (TGA/DSC) analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). The magnetized bionanocomposite exhibited high catalytic activity for the synthesis of 1,2,4,5-tetrahydro-2,4-dioxobenzo[b][1,4]diazepine malononitriles via five-component reactions between 1,2-phenylenediamines, Meldrum's acid, malononitrile, aldehydes, and isocyanides at room temperature in ethanol. The efficacy of this protocol was also examined to obtain malonamide derivatives via pseudo six-component reactions of 1,4-phenylenediamine, Meldrum's acid, malononitrile, aldehydes, and isocyanides. When the above-mentioned MCRs were repeated under the same conditions with the application of sonication, a notable decrease in the reaction time was observed. The recovery and reusability of the metal-bio functionalized bismuthmagnetite were examined successfully in 3 runs. Furthermore, the characteristics of the recovered Fe3-x Bi x O4/SiO2@l-ArgEt3 +I-/Zn(ii) were investigated though FESEM and EDAX analysis.

Abstract
A mild, competent and eco-friendly protocol has been developed for oxidative esterification of various aldehydes over a post-synthetically modified and Pd fabricated chitosan-starch dual functionalized Fe3O4 microspheres as a magnetically isolable heterogeneous and biocompatible nanocatalyst. Molecular O2 was used as an oxidant in the reaction. A series of aldehydes was directly esterified with MeOH in excellent yields without any pre-activation and involvement of harsh chemicals/conditions. Structural features of the catalyst were assessed through FT-IR, FE-SEM, TEM, EDX, molecular mapping, XRD, VSM and ICP-OES techniques. Due to magnetic core, the catalyst was easily isolated using an external magnet and reused for 8 times in succession, retaining its morphology and catalytic activity.

Abstract
With the rapid development of nanotechnology, new types of fluorescent nanomaterials (FNMs) have been springing up in the past two decades. The nanometer scale endows FNMs with unique optical properties which play a critical role in their applications in bioimaging and fluorescence-dependent detections. However, since low selectivity as well as low photoluminescence efficiency of fluorescent nanomaterials hinders their applications in imaging and detection to some extent, scientists are still in search of synthesizing new FNMs with better properties. In this review, a variety of fluorescent nanoparticles are summarized including semiconductor quantum dots, carbon dots, carbon nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, graphene-based nanomaterials, noble metal nanoparticles, silica nanoparticles, phosphors and organic frameworks. We highlight the recent advances of the latest developments in the synthesis of FNMs and their applications in the biomedical field in recent years. Furthermore, the main theories, methods, and limitations of the synthesis and applications of FNMs have been reviewed and discussed. In addition, challenges in synthesis and biomedical applications are systematically summarized as well. The future directions and perspectives of FNMs in clinical applications are also presented.

Abstract
Heterogeneous catalysts are progressively expanding their field of application, from high-throughput reactions for traditional industrial chemistry with production volumes reaching millions of tons per year, a sector in which they are key players, to more niche applications for the production of fine chemicals. These novel applications require a progressive utilization reduction of fossil feedstocks, in favor of renewable ones. Biomasses are the most accessible source of organic precursors, having as advantage their low cost and even distribution across the globe. Unfortunately, they are intrinsically inhomogeneous in nature and their efficient exploitation requires novel catalysts. In this process, an accurate design of the active phase performing the reaction is important; nevertheless, we are often neglecting the importance of the support in guaranteeing stable performances and improving catalytic activity. This review has the goal of gathering and highlighting the cases in which the supports (either derived or not from biomass wastes) share the worth of performing the catalysis with the active phase, for those reactions involving the synthesis of fine chemicals starting from biomasses as feedstocks.

Abstract
Supported single-metal atom catalysts (SACs) are constituted of isolated active metal centers, which are heterogenized on inert supports such as graphene, porous carbon, and metal oxides. Their thermal stability, electronic properties, and catalytic activities can be controlled via interactions between the single-metal atom center and neighboring heteroatoms such as nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur. Due to the atomic dispersion of the active catalytic centers, the amount of metal required for catalysis can be decreased, thus offering new possibilities to control the selectivity of a given transformation as well as to improve catalyst turnover frequencies and turnover numbers. This review aims to comprehensively summarize the synthesis of Fe-SACs with a focus on anchoring single atoms (SA) on carbon/graphene supports. The characterization of these advanced materials using various spectroscopic techniques and their applications in diverse research areas are described. When applicable, mechanistic investigations conducted to understand the specific behavior of Fe-SACs-based catalysts are highlighted, including the use of theoretical models.

Abstract
Heavy crude oil (HCO) pollution has gained global attention, but traditional bioremediating practices demonstrate limited effectiveness. This study developed magnetic nanoparticles decorated bacteria (MNPB) using an oil-degrading and biosurfactant-producing Rhodococcus erythropolis species and identified a novel access-dispersion-recovery strategy for enhanced HCO pollution mitigation. The strategy entails (1) magnetic navigation of the MNPB towards HCO layer, (2) enhanced oil dispersion and formation of suspended oil-bacteria aggregates, and (3) magnetic recovery of these aggregates. The UV-spectrophotometer analysis showed that this strategy can enable up to 62% removal of HCO. The GC-MS analysis demonstrated that the MNPB enhanced the degradation of low-molecular-weight aromatics comparing with the pure bacteria, and the recovery process further removed oil-bacteria aggregates and entrained high-molecular-weight aromatics. The feasibility of using MNPB to mitigate HCO pollution could shed light on the emerging bioremediation applications.

Abstract
The catalytic activity of cobalt and iron nanoparticles for the growth of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was studied by a specific reproducible and up-scalable fabrication method. Co and Fe catalysts were deposited over SiO2 nanoparticles by a wet-impregnation method and two different annealing steps were applied for the catalyst formation/activation. The samples were calcined at an optimal temperature of 450 °C resulting in the formation of metal oxide nano-islands without the detection of silicates. Further reduction treatment (700 °C) under H2 successfully converted oxide nanoparticles to Co and Fe metallic species. Furthermore, the catalytic efficiency of both supported-metal nanoparticles at 2 and 5% in weight of silica was evaluated through the growth of CNTs. The CNT structure, morphology and size dispersion were tailored according to the metal catalyst concentration.

Abstract
Chirality is a fundamental and ubiquitous feature of living organisms in nature. Magnetic materials, in particular magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), show some interesting properties such as large specific surface area, easy surface modification, magnetic responsivity and separation ability. Integrating MNPs with chirality in a single material will undoubtedly create a large number of advanced multi-functional materials. Despite the great advancements made in this area, there have been no review articles to summarize the relevant studies. The present work reviews the major progress recently made in constructing chiral magnetic hybrid materials (CMHMs) using macromolecules, which are classified based on the primary chiral macromolecular organic components, namely, biological polymers and synthetic polymers, and the applications of the resulting chiral hybrids in chiral research fields, including asymmetric catalysis, enzymatic resolution, chromatographic separation, enantioselective crystallization and enantioselective adsorption, are also summarized. The challenges and prospects of related research fields are proposed in the last section.

Abstract
In order to explore a superior washcoat material to give full play to the catalytic activity of perovskite active components on the monolithic catalysts, three novel types of LaCoO3/washcoat/cordierite monolith catalysts were prepared by a facile two-step procedure which employed the cordierite honeycomb ceramic as the monolith substrate, the nano-oxides (ZrO2, ɤ-Al2O3, TiO2) as the washcoat, and the perovskite of LaCoO3 as the active components. The blank cordierite, powdered LaCoO3, semi-manufactured monolithic catalysts (washcoat/cordierite), and manufactured monolithic catalysts (LaCoO3/washcoat/cordierite) were characterized by XRD, SEM, XPS, N2 adsorption-desorption, H2-TPR, and ultrasonic test, and their catalytic activities and catalytic stability were evaluated by the toluene oxidation test. The research results indicate that the nanoparticles coated on the cordierite substrate as the washcoat can give full play to the catalytic ability of the LaCoO3 active components and also showed high catalytic stability. However, the catalytic properties of the monolithic catalysts vary notably with the species of nano-washcoat. Among all the catalysts, the porous honeycomb surface structure, uniform distribution, high ratio of surface adsorbed oxygen, and strong reducing ability together give the LaCoO3/ZrO2/cordierite monolithic catalyst the highest catalytic activity on the oxidation of toluene at low temperature, which could be attributed to the excellent interactions of perovskite and nano-ZrO2 washcoat. Therefore, the nano-oxides, especially the nano-ZrO2, have a broad practical application potential for toluene oxidation at low temperature as the washcoat of perovskite-based monolithic catalysts.

Abstract
Over the past several decades, the fabrication of novel ceramic nanofibers applicable in different areas has been a frequent focus of scientists around the world. Aiming to introduce novel ceramic core-shell nanofibers as a magnetic solid acid catalyst, Fe2O3@SiO2-SO3H magnetic nanofibers were prepared in this study using a modification of Fe2O3@SiO2 core-shell nanofibers with chlorosulfonic acid to increase the acidic properties of these ceramic nanofibers. The products were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscope (EDS), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The prepared nanofibers were used as catalysts in formamide and formamidine synthesis. The treatment of aqueous formic acid using diverse amines with a catalytic amount of Fe2O3@SiO2-SO3H nanofibers as a reusable, magnetic and heterogeneous catalyst produced high yields of corresponding formamides at room temperature. Likewise, the reaction of diverse amines with triethyl orthoformate led to the synthesis of formamidine derivatives in excellent yields using this novel catalyst. The catalytic system was able to be recovered and reused at least five times without any catalytic activity loss. Thus, novel core-shell nanofibers can act as efficient solid acid catalysts in different organic reactions capable of being reused several times due to their easy separation by applying magnet.

Abstract
Porous silica particles have shown applications in various technological fields including their use as catalyst supports in heterogeneous catalysis. The mesoporous silica particles have ordered porosity, high surface area, and good chemical stability. These interesting structural or textural properties make porous silica an attractive material for use as catalyst supports in various heterogeneous catalysis reactions. The colloidal nature of the porous silica particles is highly useful in catalytic applications as it guarantees better mass transfer properties and uniform distribution of the various metal or metal oxide nanocatalysts in solution. The catalysts show high activity, low degree of metal leaching, and ease in recycling when supported or immobilized on porous silica-based materials. In this overview, we have pointed out the importance of porous silica as catalyst supports. A variety of chemical reactions catalyzed by different catalysts loaded or embedded in porous silica supports are studied. The latest reports from the literature about the use of porous silica-based materials as catalyst supports are listed and analyzed. The new and continued trends are discussed with examples.

Abstract
In the present work, we report the design and fabrication of a copper-containing ionic liquid supported magnetic nanocatalyst via a convenient and straightforward synthetic approach for the formation of 2-phenylquinazolin-4(3H)-ones using o-aminobenzamide and benzaldehydes as the reaction partners. The successful formation and properties of the as-prepared catalyst have been thoroughly investigated using diverse physico-chemical techniques including FT-IR, XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, ICP, VSM, BET and TGA. Using this nanocatalytic system, a variety of 2-phenylquinazolin-4(3H)-ones are synthesized in excellent yields with operational ease and short reaction times in an environmentally preferable solvent under open air and without using any external oxidizing agent. Besides, the catalyst possessed facile magnetic recoverability and remarkable reusability for six consecutive runs without any appreciable decrease in the catalytic efficiency.
