Abstract
The discovery of new organic hybrid chalcogenidometalates is of great importance for structural chemistry and functional material. Here, new types of organic hybrid selenoarsenates [Mn(dien)2]2[AsII4Se6] (1, dien = diethylenetriamine) and [Mn(dien)2]2[Mn(AsIIISe3)2] (2) have been solvothermally synthesized by the reaction of K3AsO3, Se, and MnCl2·xH2O (x = 0, 2) in dien solution at 120 °C. 1 presents a hitherto unknown [AsII4Se6]4- anion with low-valent As2+ ion, which comprises a centrosymmetric six-membered [AsII4Se2] ring in chair-like conformation, while 2 contains a new type of heterometallic selenoarsenate(III) [Mn(AsIIISe3)2]4- constructed by the connection of one tetrahedral [MnSe4] and two rare noncondensed [AsIIISe3]3- anions. 1 and 2 were first combined with nickel nanoparticle (Ni) and the nickel foam (NF) for fabricating the 1/Ni/NF and 2/Ni/NF electrodes, which exhibited excellent oxygen evolution reaction electrocatalytic property with a low overpotential of 248 mV for 1 and 219 mV for 2 at 10 mA cm-2 in alkaline media.

Abstract
The discovery of low-cost and efficient electro-catalytic materials for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is very desirable in hydrogen energy technology. Here, a new type of one-dimensional (1-D) organic hybrid selenidostannate [Ni(en)3]n[Sn2Se5]n (SnSe-1, en = ethylenediamine) with an in situ [Ni(en)3]2+ complex was achieved by the solvothermal reaction of Sn, Se, and NiCl2·6H2O in a mixed solvent of en and triethanolamine at 160 °C for 10 days. The crystal structure of SnSe-1 contains a unique 1-D [Sn2Se52-]n chain built up from the sharing-edge connection of a hitherto-unknown tetrameric [Sn4Se12] cluster, which is separated by discrete [Ni(en)3]2+ complexes. SnSe-1 is first combined with Ni nanoparticles supported on conductive porous Ni foam (NF) to constitute a Ni/SnSe-1/NF electrode as the HER electro-catalyst, displaying superior electro-catalytic activity in near-neutral conditions.

Abstract
8-Hydroxyquinoline and its derivatives, which belong to a well-known class of quinoline based drugs with varied biological activities, have been extensively explored for the treatments of cancer, Alzheimer's disease, neurodegenerative diseases and other life-threatening diseases. In virtue of the existence of bicyclic heterocyclic scaffold, their bidentate chelators can further bind to metal ions via O- and N-donors from 8-hydroxylquinolinol skeletons to yield a variety of metal 8-hydroxylquinolinol complexes appealing as the anticancer drugs with low toxicity, due to their better biological effects and higher anticancer activities than free 8-hydroxylquinolinol ligands and cis-diammine-dichloro-platinum. The present review summarizes the recent developments in the syntheses, crystal structures, and anticancer activities of metal 8-hydroxylquinolinol complexes, attempting to discover a correlation between their structures and anticancer activities, and to provide an evidence for their potential application perspectives. It means to offer the helpful and meaningful guidance for the researchers in the future syntheses of new and highly efficient anticancer metal 8-hydroxylquinolinol complexes based drugs.

Abstract
Four selenoarsenates with different transition-metal complexes [Co(tren)2H]AsSe4 [tren = tris(2-aminoethyl)amine] (1); [Ni2(dien)4](As2Se5) (dien = diethylenetriamine) (2); [Zn(tren)]2(As2Se5) (3) and [Mn(tren)]2(As2Se5) (4) were solvothermally synthesized in a mixed solvent of organic amine and alcohol solution. The compounds 1-4 have pyramidal/tetrahedral structures (AsSe3/AsSe4), and contain transition metal (Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+ and Mn2+) complex that form distinct zero-dimensional (0-D) clusters. Arsenic atoms form a tetrahedron in compounds 1 and 2; 1 consists of discrete tetrahedral (AsSe4) and transition metal complex [Co(tren)2]2+; 2 is composed of an anion [As2Se5]4- cluster and transition metal complex [Ni(dien)2]2+. In compounds 3 and 4, arsenic atom forms a pyramidal AsSe3 and the two pyramidal AsSe3 share a corner connection to form a dimer [As2Se5]4-; 3 is characterized as a cluster consisting of two unsaturated [Zn(tren)]2+ caiton linked by a dimer (As2Se5)4- linkage; in 4, unsaturated [Mn(tren)]2+ caiton is linked to two trigonal-bipyramidal [Mn(tren)]Se via dimer (As2Se5)4- to form [Mn(tren)]4[As4Se10] cluster. To our knowledge, [Zn(tren)]2(As2Se5) (3) is the first zinc selenoarsenate containing the (As2Se5)4- anion type. Furthermore, the Mn2+ ions adopt a trigonal-biyramidal (five-coordinate) and octahedral (six-coordinate) environment. Adding K2CO3/Cs2CO3 to the synthesis system is necessary and may act as a mineralizer. Several properties of compounds 1-4 have been characterized in our studies, in particular their strong photocurrent response characteristics under visible light irradiation.

Abstract
In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Zn(cyclam)]2+ cations and SbS43– anions are present, which are linked to acetonitrile and water solvate molecules via intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Reaction of Zn(ClO4)2·6H2O with cyclam (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane, C10H24N4) and Na3SbS4 in an acetonitrile/water mixture led to the formation of crystals of the title compound, [Zn3(SbS4)(C10H24N4)3](SbS4)·2CH3CN·2H2O or [(Zn-cyclam)3(SbS4)2](H2O)2(acetonitrile)2. The set-up of the crystal structure is similar to that of [(Zn-cyclam)3(SbS4)2].8H2O reported recently [Danker et al. (2021 ▸). Dalton Trans. 50, 18107–18117]. The crystal structure of the title compound consists of three crystallographically independent ZnII cations (each disordered around centers of inversion), three centrosymmetric cyclam ligands, one SbS43– anion, one water and one acetonitrile molecule occupying general positions. The acetonitrile molecule is equally disordered over two sets of sites. Each Zn2+ cation is bound to four nitrogen atoms of a cyclam ligand and one sulfur atom of the SbS43– anion within a distorted square-pyramidal coordination. The cation disorder of the [Zn(cyclam)]2+ complexes is discussed in detail and is also observed in other compounds, where identical ligands are located above and below the [Zn(cyclam)]2+ plane. In the title compound, the building units are arranged in layers parallel to the bc plane forming pores in which the acetonitrile solvate molecules are located. Intermolecular C—H⋯S hydrogen bonding links these units to the SbS43– anions. Between the layers, additional water solvate molecules are present that act as acceptor and donor groups for intermolecular N—H⋯O and O—H⋯S hydrogen bonding.

Abstract
In the crystal structure of the title compound, the [SbS4]3− anions are linked by the Co(cyclam) complex cations into rings, which are further connected into layers that are linked by intermolecular hydrogen bonding via the water solvate molecules and are arranged in such a way that cavities are formed, in which the disordered acetonitrile solvate molecules are located. Reaction of Co(ClO4)2·6H2O with cyclam (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) and Na3SbS4·9H2O (Schlippesches salt) in a mixture of acetonitrile and water leads to the formation of crystals of the title compound with the composition {[Co3(SbS4)2(C10H24N4)3]·2CH3CN·2H2O}n or {[(Co-cyclam)3(SbS4)2]·2(acetonitrile)·2H2O}n. The crystal structure of the title compound consists of three crystallographically independent [Co-cyclam]2+ cations, which are located on centers of inversion, one [SbS4]3− anion, one water and one acetonitrile molecule that occupy general positions. The acetonitrile molecule is disordered over two orientations and was refined using a split model. The CoII cations are coordinated by four N atoms of the cyclam ligand and two trans-S atoms of the tetrathioantimonate anion within slightly distorted octahedra. The unique [SbS4]3− anion is coordinated to all three crystallographically independent CoII cations and this unit, with its symmetry-related counterparts, forms rings composed of six Co-cyclam cations and six tetrathioantimonate anions that are further condensed into layers. These layers are perfectly stacked onto each other so that channels are formed in which acetontrile solvate molecules that are hydrogen bonded to the anions are embedded. The water solvate molecules are located between the layers and are connected to the cyclam ligands and the [SbS4]3− anions via intermolecular N—H⋯O and O—H⋯S hydrogen bonding.

Abstract
Incorporating transition metal (TM) complexes into cluster-based chalcogenide frameworks is an effective synthetic strategy to induce structural diversity and control the optoelectronic properties, which may further improve their photocatalytic performance. However, limited studies have been conducted on frameworks constructed by TM complexes covalently bonded with supertetrahedral Tn clusters, let alone on their properties, especially photocatalytic H2 activity. Herein, three new isostructural three-dimensional (3D) neutral inorganic-organic open frameworks of gallium thioantimonate comprised of thiogallate-based supertetrahedral T3 clusters that are covalently bonded with TM complexes ([TM(TEPA)]2+, TM = Mn/Ni/Fe, TEPA = tetraethylenepentamine) at the edges and are linked by single Sb3+ ions at the corner, namely, NCF-3-Mn/Ni/Fe have been solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized, and display good thermal and chemical stability. Benefiting from an adjustable TM centre, the title compounds possess tunable photocatalytic H2 evolution activity, among which NCF-3-Mn exhibits the highest photocatalytic activity probably due to its favourable band structure and enhanced carrier separation efficiency.

Abstract
Two chalcogenide crystalline compounds, [enH2][Ag4Sb2S6] (en = ethylenediamine) and [enH][Ag2SbS3], have been successfully synthesized by mild ionothermal and solvothermal means. [enH][Ag2SbS3] crystallizes in the noncentrosymmetric (NCS) and polar space group Pc, and its linear and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties have been investigated for the first time. Second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements revealed that [enH][Ag2SbS3] affords powder SHG performance values of 2.5 × KDP @1064 nm and 0.2 × AgGaS2 @2100 nm. Additional particle size vs. SHG efficiency measurements indicate that [enH][Ag2SbS3] is phase-matchable. The calculated birefringence Δn is 0.177 at 1064 nm, which is sufficiently large (the largest value among NCS thioantimonates) to achieve phase matching. [enH2][Ag4Sb2S6] crystallizes in the centrosymmetric space group P21/c and its structure features a double-layered variant honeycomb-like anionic network parallel to the ac plane separated by [enH2]2+ cations. The optical band gaps of [enH2][Ag4Sb2S6] and [enH][Ag2SbS3] are found to be 2.37 and 2.53 eV, respectively. Theoretical studies using density functional theory have been implemented to further elucidate the relationship between the band structure and NLO properties in [enH][Ag2SbS3].

Abstract
The introduction of (N2)3-• radicals into multinuclear lanthanide molecular magnets raised hysteresis temperatures by stimulating strong exchange coupling between spin centers. Radical ligands with larger donor atoms could promote more efficient magnetic coupling between lanthanides to provide superior magnetic properties. Here, we show that heavy chalcogens (S, Se, Te) are primed to fulfill these criteria. The moderately reducing Sm(II) complex, [Sm(N††)2], where N†† is the bulky bis(triisopropylsilyl)amide ligand, can be oxidized (i) by diphenyldichalcogenides E2Ph2 (E = S, Se, Te) to form the mononuclear series [Sm(N††)2(EPh)] (E = S, 1-S; Se, 1-Se, Te, 1-Te); (ii) S8 or Se8 to give dinuclear [{Sm(N††)2}2(μ-η2:η2-E2)] (E = S, 2-S2; Se, 2-Se2); or (iii) with Te═PEt3 to yield [{Sm(N††)2}(μ-Te)] (3). These complexes have been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, multinuclear NMR, FTIR, and electronic spectroscopy; the steric bulk of N†† dictates the formation of mononuclear complexes with chalcogenate ligands and dinuclear species with the chalcogenides. The Lα1 fluorescence-detected X-ray absorption spectra at the Sm L3-edge yielded resolved pre-edge and white-line peaks for 1-S and 2-E2, which served to calibrate our computational protocol in the successful reproduction of the spectral features. This method was employed to elucidate the ground state electronic structures for proposed oxidized and reduced variants of 2-E2. Reactivity is ligand-based, forming species with bridging superchalcogenide (E2)-• and subchalcogenide (E2)3-• radical ligands. The extraordinarily large exchange couplings provided by these dichalcogenide radicals reveal their suitability as potential successors to the benchmark (N2)3-• complexes in molecular magnets.

Abstract
The title compound, [Mn(S4)(C8H20N4)], was accidentally obtained by the hydro-thermal reaction of Mn(ClO4)2·6H2O, cyclen (cyclen = 1,4,7,10-tetra-aza-cyclo-dodeca-ne) and Na3SbS4·9H2O in water at 413 K, indicating that polysulfide anions might represent inter-mediates in the synthesis of thio-metallate compounds using Na3SbS4·9H2O as a reactant. X-ray powder diffraction proves that the sample is slightly contaminated with NaSb(OH)6 and an unknown crystalline phase. The crystal investigated was twinned with a twofold rotation axis as the twin element, and therefore a twin refinement using data in HKLF-5 format was performed. The asymmetric unit of the title compound consists of one MnII cation, one [S4]2- anion and one cyclen ligand in general positions. The MnII cation is sixfold coordinated by two cis-S atoms of the [S4]2- anions, as well as four N atoms of the cyclen ligand within an irregular coordination. The complexes are linked via pairs of N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds into chains, which are further linked into layers by additional N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding. These layers are connected into a three-dimensional network by inter-molecular N-H⋯S and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonding. It is noted that only one similar complex with MnII is reported in the literature.

Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[Mn2Sb2S5(C15H11N3)2]·4H2O} n , consists of two crystallographically independent MnII ions, two unique terpyridine ligands, one [Sb2S5]4- anion and four solvent water mol-ecules, all of which are located in general positions. The [Sb2S5]4- anion consists of two SbS3 units that share common corners. Each of the MnII ions is fivefold coordinated by two symmetry-related S atoms of [Sb2S5]4- anions and three N atoms of a terpyridine ligand within an irregular coordination. Each two anions are linked by two [Mn(terpyridine)]2+ cations into chains along the c-axis direction that consist of eight-membered Mn2Sb2S4 rings. These chains are further connected into a three-dimensional network by inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯S hydrogen bonds. The crystal investigated was twinned and therefore, a twin refinement using data in HKLF-5 [Sheldrick (2015 ▸). Acta Cryst. C71, 3-8] format was performed.

Abstract
A series of new hybrid chalcogenogermanates [Mn2(en)4Ge2S6]n (1, en = ethylenediamine), [Mn2(dap)4Ge2S6]n (2, dap = 1,2-diaminopropane), [H2dien]n[MnGeS4]n (3, dien = diethylenetriamine), [V(en)2(ea)]2[Ge2Se6] (4, Hea = ethanolamine), [V(teta)(ea)]2[Ge2Se6] (5, teta = triethylenetetramine) and [V2(en)6(μ-O)][Ge2Se6] (6) were solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. Both 1 and 2 contain dimeric [Ge2S6]4- anions and [Mn(en)2]2+/[Mn(dap)2]2+ complex cations, which are interconnected to generate 1-D neutral chain-like structures [Mn2(en)4Ge2S6]n and [Mn2(dap)4Ge2S6]n, respectively. 3 consists of a protonated H2dien2+ cation and a 1-D straight chain built from [MnS4] and [GeS4] tetrahedra sharing opposite edges, and is the only example of a chelating amine uncoordinated to a transition metal ion. Both 4 and 5 consist of [Ge2Se6]4- anions constructed by two [GeSe4] tetrahedra sharing a common edge and discrete complex cations [V(en)2(ea)]2+/[V(teta)(ea)]2+. 6 is composed of a [Ge2Se6]4- anion and dinuclear complex cation [V2(en)6(μ-O)]4+ containing an en molecule as a rare monodentate ligand. Although some selenidogermanates with transition metal complexes have been successfully prepared, no selenidogermanates with trivalent vanadium complexes have been documented. Therefore, 4-6 offer the first examples of selenidogermanates with trivalent vanadium complexes under solvothermal conditions. Their optical and photocurrent response properties were studied.

Abstract
Abstract
The introduction of selenium and tellurium into both organic and inorganic compounds frequently begins with the elements. This chapter provides an overview of the main reactivity of the hexagonal allotropes of selenium and tellurium, which are the most stable form of the elements under ambient conditions. While the two elements have very similar chemical properties, there are also notable differences. Upon reduction, both elements form mono- and poly-chalcogenides, which are useful nucleophilic reagents in several reactions. The elements also react with many main group compounds as well as with transition metal complexes. They also form homopolyatomic cations upon oxidation. Both selenium and tellurium react with Grignard reagents and organyllithium compounds affording organylchalcogenolates, which upon oxidation form dichalcogenides that are themselves useful reagents in organic synthetic chemistry as well as in materials applications. This chapter provides a short introduction to the various topics that will be developed further in the subsequent chapters of this book.

Abstract
A series of new vanadium(iii) chalcogenidoantimonates [VIII(dap)2SbQ3] (Q = S (1), Se (2); dap = 1,2-diaminopropane), [H2dien][VIII2(en)2(dien)2(μ2-O)][SbSe4]2 (3, en = ethylenediamine; dien = diethylenetriamine) and [VIII(dien)2SbSe4] (4) have been solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. Both 1 and 2 contain neutral vanadium(iii)-centered complexes [VIII(dap)2SbQ3], where the [SbQ3]3- anion acts as a chelating ligand to complex [VIII(dap)2]3+, but they exhibit different molecular conformations. 3 consists of selenidoantimonate anions [SbSe4]3-, the protonated H2dien2+ cation, and the dinuclear complex [VIII2(en)2(dien)2(μ2-O)]4+ based on two [VIII(en)(dien)]3+ units bridged by one μ2-O group. 4 contains neutral [VIII(dien)2SbSe4] moieties with seven coordinated vanadium centres, which offers a rare example of high coordination of a nitro-selenidovanadium(iii) complex, mainly because the vanadium(iii) ion has a regular octahedral configuration based on the structures in the solid state. The optical, magnetic and photoelectronic properties of all compounds have been investigated, and the density functional theory calculation of 4 has also been studied.

A series of polymeric Mn(ii)-thioarsenates [Mn(en)3]n[(N2H4)2Mn6(μ6-S)(μ-N2H4)2(μ3-AsS3)4]n (1), [N2H5]n[{Mn(μ-N2H4)2(μ-AsS4)}·0.5en]n (2), [Mn(μ-trien){Mn(μ-N2H4)(μ-AsS3)}2]n (3), [{Mn(N2H4)}2(μ-N2H4)2{Mn(μ-N2H4)2(μ-AsS3)2}]n (4), [Mn3(μ-N2H4)6(μ3-AsS4)(μ2-AsS4)]n (5), and [Mn(NH3)6]n[{Mn(NH3)(μ-AsS4)}2]n (6) were synthesized using a hydrazine-solvothermal method. The thioarsenate units AsS3 and AsS4 coordinate to Mn(ii) ions with variable coordination modes, forming a Mn–As–S ternary cluster (1), chains (2, 4–6), and layers (3), respectively. The hydrazine molecules act as inter-cluster, intra-chain and intra-layer bridging ligands to join the Mn(ii) ions, resulting in hydrazine hybrid 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D Mn(ii)-thioarsenate moieties in 1–5. Compounds 1–6 exhibit tunable semiconducting band gaps varying in the range of 2.19–2.47 eV. Compound 1 displays stronger antiferromagnetic coupling interactions than that of compound 2. Mn(ii)-thioarsenates [Mn(en)3]n[Mn6S(N2H4)4(AsS3)4]n (1), [N2H5]n[{Mn(N2H4)2(AsS4)}·0.5en]n (2), [Mn(trien){Mn(N2H4)(AsS3)}2]n (3), [Mn3(N2H4)6(AsS3)2]n (4), [Mn3(N2H4)6(AsS4)2]n (5), and [Mn(NH3)6]n[{Mn(NH3)(AsS4)}2]n (6) were prepared in N2H4 by solvothermal methods.![]()

Abstract
We reported a facile and robust method for the synthesis of highly monodisperse EuSe nanocubes (EuSe NCs) with controllable edge lengths in the range of 8-70 nm. The EuSe NCs were formed through the aggregation of EuSe small particles (cores) and then their surface reconstruction under the influence of 1-dodecanethiol (DDT) that acted as a capping surfactant. DDT was not only found to be critical to the nucleation temperature of preparing EuSe NCs, but also played a decisive role in the formation of structurally well-defined nanocubes. The results indicated that the remarkable monodispersity and high shape consistency of EuSe NCs were highly controlled by the change in the DDT concentration. Furthermore, the size-dependent optical/magnetic properties based on the quantum size effect and the influence of edge lengths of EuSe NCs were also investigated and discussed. More importantly, the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) performance of EuSe NCs was first reported. This will make possible more biomedical applications in future.

Abstract
The single compartmental Schiff base N,N'-ethylenebis(salicylaldimine) (H2L) and [SnPh2Cl2] were utilized to synthesize heterobimetallic 3d metal-Sn complexes, the CoIIISnIV compound [{SnPhCl2}(1κO2N2,2κO2-μ-L)(μ-OMe){CoPh}] (1), the NiIISnIV compound [{SnPh2Cl2}(1κO2N2,2κO2-μ-L)Ni] (2) and the CuIISnIV compound [{SnPh2Cl2}(1κO2N2,2κO2-μ-L)Cu] (3). Attempting to prepare the ethoxido bridged compound analogous to 1 (in ethanol) gives the phenylcobalt(iii) complex [Co(κO2N2)Ph(H2O)] (1A). Single crystal X-ray structure analyses reveal that 1 is derived from an intermetallic (Sn to Co) phenyl shift and that 1A is a transmetallated product; in compounds 2 and 3, the phenyl groups remain coordinated to SnIV but one of the π rings interacts with the 3d-metal. Thus, while systems 1 and 1A show the lability of the phenyl ligand, 2 and 3 reveal its flexible nature. Theoretical DFT calculations demonstrate that the conceivable Ph group shift occurs in the oxidized CoIII intermediate [{SnIVPh2Cl2}(κO2N2-μ-L){CoIII(MeO)}] (5) rather than in the corresponding CoII species [{SnIVPh2Cl2}(κO2N2-μ-L){CoII(MeOH)}] (4). Their catalytic studies in the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of cyclohexanone into ε-caprolactone with two different oxidants reveal that the sacrificial aldehyde method (with dioxygen/benzaldehyde) is better than that with aqueous H2O2 (30%). The effects of various reaction parameters such as solvent, catalyst amount, temperature, time and heating method were studied allowing the achievement of yields up to 83% with 89% selectivity.

Abstract
A series of lanthanide selenidogermanates, (H2peha)[Ln2(μ-OH)2(tepa)2Cl2]{[Ln2(μ-OH)2(tepa)2Cl]2(μ-Ge2Se6)}[Ge2Se6]Cl2 [Ln = Y (1a) and Er (1b); peha = pentaethylenexamine, tepa = tetraethylenepentamine], [Sm2(μ-OH)2(tepa)2(μ-Ge2Se6)]n (2), [Ho2(μ-OH)2(tepa)2(μ-Ge2Se6)]n (3), and [Ce4(tepa)4(μ-GeSe4)(μ-GeSe5)(μ-Ge2Se6)]n (4), were made under solvothermal conditions. Compounds 1a and 1b contain a protonated H2peha2+ ion, the complex cation [Ln2(μ-OH)2(tepa)2Cl2]2+, a [Ge2Se6]4- anion, free Cl- ions, and a {[Ln2(μ-OH)2(tepa)2Cl]2(μ-Ge2Se6)}2+ cation constructed by two unsaturated [Ln2(μ-OH)2(tepa)2Cl]3+ groups connecting via the trans terminal Se atoms of the [Ge2Se6]4- anion, which provides the first example of an organic decorated lanthanide selenidogermanate cation. Both compounds 2 and 3 contain one-dimensional chains [Ln2(μ-OH)2(tepa)2(μ-Ge2Se6)]n constructed by a combination of unsaturated complex cations [Ln2(μ-OH)2(tepa)2]4+ and [Ge2Se6]4- anions, but their stacking patterns of neutral chains are different. Compound 4 contains one-dimensional chain [Ce4(tepa)4(μ-GeSe4)(μ-GeSe5)(μ-Ge2Se6)]n, where three different selenidogermanate units acting as bridging ligands connect unsaturated [Ce(tepa)]3+ ions. Compound 4 represents the first example of the coexistence of three different selenidogermanate anions in the same architecture. Their optical properties are studied, and the magnetic properties of compounds 1b and 2-4 are also investigated.
