Abstract
Long-term deposition of atmospheric radioactive iodine-129 (129I) is important for assessing the impact of human nuclear activities (HNAs), but still not well understood in East Asia. In this study, we quantitatively reconstructed the deposition history of airborne 129I using varved sediment from Sihailongwan Maar Lake (SHLW) in northeast China. Our results revealed significant increases in 129I concentrations and 129I/127I atomic ratios since the 1950s, indicating the influence of HNAs on the environment and marking the onset of the Anthropocene. The variation of 129I in the investigated site can be primarily attributed to the global fallout of ANWT as well as nuclear fuel reprocessing in Europe, Russia and the USA. Notably, neither the Chernobyl nor the Fukushima nuclear accidents have had any discernable impact on the SHLW Lake. Over the past 170 years (1846-2021), the reconstructed fluxes indicate a rapid increase in 129I deposition from the early 1950s until the 1970s followed by dramatic changes thereafter. The measured 129I fluxes range between (1.26-349) × 109 atoms m-2 yr-1 in the SHLW Lake, which are consistent with similar latitude zones across East Asia, but differ significantly from those observed in high-elevation glaciers within the Northern Hemisphere due to prevailing atmospheric circulation patterns. The total 129I inventory was calculated to be 11.9 × 1012 atoms m-2, with natural and anthropogenic 129I accounting for 2.86 % and 97.1 %, respectively, suggesting an overwhelming artificial contribution. The reconstructed fluxes and inventory of atmospheric 129I deposition quantitatively distinguish the natural and artificial contributions, and provide a novel insight into the historical environmental impact of HNAs in East Asia and the characteristics of the Anthropocene.

Abstract
The transport and deposition pathways of anthropogenic radionuclides at the global scale, particularly volatile 129I, remain somewhat elusive due to a dearth of comprehensive investigations. To gain a better understanding of the transport dynamics and deposition mechanism of anthropogenic 129I in the terrestrial environment, one hundred surface soil samples collected from northeast China were analyzed for 129I and 127I concentrations in this study. Our findings reveal that 129I/127I atomic ratios in the mid-eastern Inner Mongolia (MIM) were approximately an order of magnitude higher than the rest of the investigated area. This is, besides the global fallout and the long-range transport of 129I released from the European nuclear reprocessing plants via westerly winds, possibly attributed to the dust with high 129I levels from the East Asian arid regions. In addition to the significant dust-induced 129I input, the unique meteorological conditions and topographical features in the MIM synergistically contribute to the pronounced accumulation and deposition of 129I in this region. This study will provide novel insights into the transport and deposition mechanism of anthropogenic radionuclides, which is significant for the assessment of anthropogenic nuclear activities on the environment in the future.

Abstract
The paddy field is a hot area of biogeochemical process. The paddy water has a large capacity in photo-generation of reactive intermediates (RIs) due to abundant photosensitive dissolved organic matter (DOM), which is influenced by the spatial heterogeneity of paddy soils but rarely been explored. Our work presents the first investigation of the role of soil properties on photochemistry in paddy water. Soil organic matter (SOM), determined by the temperature, was the dominant factor for the photo-generation of RIs in paddy water of main rice producing areas. The RI concentrations generated with abundant SOM from cool regions are 0.05-8.71 times higher than those for the warm regions in China. The humic-like substance and aromatic-like compounds of DOM plays an essential role in RIs generation, which is abundant in paddy soils rich in SOM from Chinese cool regions. In addition, RIs can efficiently accelerate the photo-ammonification of urea and free amino acids by 15.2 %-164 %, leading to 0.13-0.17 mmol/L/d photo-produced ammonium after fertilization, which is preferentially absorbed by rice. The findings of this study will extend our knowledge of the geochemistry of global paddy field ecosystem. The potential role of RIs in nitrogen cycle should be highlighted in the agroecosystem.

Abstract
Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) is commonly detected in children. However, the epidemiological trends of MP in Northeast (NE) China are unclear. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the prevalence of MP infections in this understudied region. The clinical manifestations and bronchoscopic findings observed in hospitalized patients with severe Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (SMPP) were collected from comprehensive data obtained from six tertiary hospitals in NE and Inner Mongolian (IM) China, from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2023. A total of 5,593,530 children who visited the outpatient and emergency departments, and 412,480 inpatient hospitalized children were included in the study. The positivity rate of MP immunoglobulin M (IgM) in the children who visited the outpatient and emergency departments varied from 7.80% to 10.12%, whereas that of MP infection in hospitalized children ranged from 27.18% to 30.10%. Children hospitalized for MP infection were mainly concentrated in the 1- to 4-year (41.39%) and 4- to 7-year (24.25%) age groups. Before 2020, the season with the highest incidence of MP was winter. After the implementation of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs), the MP epidemic season changed, and the number of children with MP infections decreased; however, the proportion of MP infections in hospitalized children did not change significantly. Starting from August 2023, the MP infection rate in outpatient, emergency, and hospitalized children increased sharply, with SMPP and its complications (e.g., plastic bronchitis and pleural effusion) increasing significantly. MP is prevalent in NE and IM, China. When the NPIs ended, MP infection showed a delayed outbreak trend, and the number of children with severe infection increased significantly. IMPORTANCE In Northeastern (NE) and Inner Mongolia (IM), the incidence of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infections, including severe Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (SMPP), is high, posing health risks and imposing substantial economic burdens on the local population. Therefore, it is imperative to prioritize the study of MP prevalence and address the research gaps in MP epidemiology in these areas of China. We obtained a comprehensive collection of pediatric outpatient, emergency, and inpatient data from six public Grade III hospitals. We believe that our study makes a significant contribution to the literature because understanding regional variations in MP infections can help healthcare professionals tailor prevention and treatment strategies, and studying bronchoscopic manifestations can provide insights into the impact of the disease on the respiratory system, potentially leading to a more effective clinical management.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chronic inflammation is a common hallmark of many chronic diseases. Although exercise holds paramount importance in preventing and managing chronic diseases, adherence to exercise programs can be challenging for some patients. Consequently, there is a pressing need to explore alternative strategies to emulate the anti-inflammatory effects of exercise for chronic diseases. AIM OF REVIEW This review explores the emerging role of green tea bioactive components as potential mitigators of chronic inflammation, offering insights into their capacity to mimic the beneficial effects of exercise. We propose that bioactive components in green tea are promising agents for suppressing chronic inflammation, suggesting their unique capability to replicate the health benefits of exercise. KEY SCIENTIFIC CONCEPTS OF REVIEW This review focuses on several key concepts, including chronic inflammation and its role in chronic diseases, the anti-inflammatory effects of regular exercise, and bioactive components in green tea responsible for its health benefits. It elaborates on scientific evidence supporting the anti-inflammatory properties of green tea bioactive components, such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), and theorizes how these bioactive components might replicate the effects of exercise at a molecular level. Through a comprehensive analysis of current research, this review proposes a novel perspective on the application of green tea as a potential intervention strategy to suppress chronic inflammation, thereby extending the benefits akin to those achieved through exercise.

Abstract
Enolase-1 (Eno1) plays a critical role in regulating glucose metabolism; however, its specific impact on pancreatic islet β-cells remains elusive. This study aimed to provide a preliminary exploration of Eno1 function in pancreatic islet β-cells. The findings revealed that the expression of ENO1 mRNA in type 2 diabetes donors was significantly increased and positively correlated with HbA1C and negatively correlated with insulin gene expression. A high level of Eno1 in human insulin-secreting rat INS-1832/13 cells with co-localization with intracellular insulin proteins was accordingly observed. Silencing of Eno1 using siRNA or inhibiting Eno1 protein activity with an Eno1 antagonist significantly reduced insulin secretion and insulin content in β-cells, while the proinsulin/insulin content ratio remained unchanged. This reduction in β-cells function was accompanied by a notable decrease in intracellular ATP and mitochondrial cytochrome C levels. Overall, our findings confirm that Eno1 regulates the insulin secretion process, particularly glucose metabolism and ATP production in the β-cells. The mechanism primarily involves its influence on insulin production, suggesting that Eno1 represents a potential target for β-cell protection and diabetes treatment.

Abstract
The energy transition will have significant mineral demands and there is growing interest in recovering critical metals, including rare earth elements (REE), from secondary sources in aqueous and sedimentary environments. However, the role of clays in REE transport and deposition in these settings remains understudied. This work investigated REE adsorption to the clay minerals illite and kaolinite through pH adsorption experiments and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS). Clay type, pH, and ionic strength (IS) affected adsorption, with decreased adsorption under acidic pH and elevated IS. Illite had a higher adsorption capacity than kaolinite; however, >95% adsorption was achieved at pH ∼7.5 regardless of IS or clay. These results were used to develop a surface complexation model with the derived binding constants used to predict REE speciation in the presence of competing sorbents. This demonstrated that clays become increasingly important as pH increases, and EXAFS modeling showed that REE can exist as both inner- and outer-sphere complexes. Together, this indicated that clays can be an important control on the transport and enrichment of REE in sedimentary systems. These findings can be applied to identify settings to target for resource extraction or to predict REE transport and fate as a contaminant.

Abstract
The efficient ethanol electrosynthesis from CO2 is challenging with low selectivity at high CO2 electrolysis rates, due to the competition with H2 and other reduction products. Copper-based bimetallic electrocatalysts are potential candidates for the CO2-to-ethanol conversion, but the secondary metal has mainly been focused on active components (such as Ag, Sn) for CO2 electroreduction, which also promote selectivity of ethylene or other reduction products rather than ethanol. Limited attention has been given to alkali-earth metals due to their inherently active chemical property. Herein, we rationally synthesized a (111) facet-oriented nano Cu2Mg (designated as Cu2Mg(111)) intermetallic compound with high-density ordered Cu3-Mg sites. The in situ Raman spectroscopy and density function theory calculations revealed that the Cu3 -δ $_{^{\rm{{\rm \delta} }} }$ --Mg-δ $_{^{\rm{{\rm \delta} }} }$ + active sites allowed to increase *CO surface coverage, decrease reaction energy for *CO-CO coupling, and stabilize *CHCHOH intermediates, thus promoting the ethanol formation pathway. The Cu2Mg(111) catalyst exhibited a high FEC2H5OH of 76.2±4.8 % at 600 mA⋅cm-2, and a peak value of |jC2H5OH| of 720±34 mA⋅cm-2, almost 4 times of that using conventional Cu2Mg with (311) facets, comparable to the best reported values for the CO2-to-ethanol electroreduction.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the role of irisin in exercise-induced improvement of renal function in type 2 diabetic rats. METHODS Forty male SD rats aged 4-6 weeks were randomized into normal control group, type 2 diabetes mellitus model group, diabetic exercise (DE) group and diabetic irisin (DI) group (n=8). The rats in DE group were trained with treadmill running for 8 weeks, and those in DI group were given scheduled irisin injections for 8 weeks. After the treatments, blood biochemical parameters of the rats were examined, and renal histopathology was observed with HE, Masson and PAS staining. Western blotting was used to detect the protein expression levels in the rats'kidneys. RESULTS The diabetic rats showed significantly increased levels of fasting insulin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen with lowered serum irisin level (all P < 0.05). Compared with those in DM group, total cholesterol, triglyceride, serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen levels were decreased and serum irisin levels were increased in both DE and DI groups (all P < 0.05). The rats in DM group showed obvious structural disorders and collagen fiber deposition in the kidneys, which were significantly improved in DE group and DI group. Both regular exercises and irisin injections significantly ameliorated the reduction of FNDC5, LC3-II/I, Atg7, Beclin-1, p-AMPK, AMPK and SIRT1 protein expressions and lowered of p62 protein expression in the kidneys of the diabetic rats (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Both exercise and exogenous irisin treatment improve nephropathy in type 2 diabetic rats possibly due to irisin-mediated activation of the AMPK/SIRT1 pathway in the kidneys to promote renal autophagy.

Abstract
PURPOSE Asthma can not be eradicated till now and its control primarily relies on the application of corticosteroids. Recently, glycolytic reprogramming has been reportedly contributed to asthma, this study aimed to reveal whether the effect of corticosteroids on asthma control is related to their regulation of glycolysis and glycolysis-dependent protein lactylation. METHODS Ovalbumin (OVA) aeroallergen was used to challenge mice and stimulate human macrophage cell line THP-1 following dexamethasone (DEX) treatment. Airway hyperresponsiveness, airway inflammation, the expressions of key glycolytic enzymes and pyroptosis markers, the level of lactic acid, real-time glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and protein lactylation were analyzed. RESULTS DEX significantly attenuated OVA-induced eosinophilic airway inflammation, including airway hyperresponsiveness, leukocyte infiltration, goblet cell hyperplasia, Th2 cytokines production and pyroptosis markers expression. Meanwhile, OVA-induced Hif-1α-glycolysis axis was substantially downregulated by DEX, which resulted in low level of lactic acid. Besides, key glycolytic enzymes in the lungs of asthmatic mice were notably co-localized with F4/80-positive macrophages, indicating metabolic shift to glycolysis in lung macrophages during asthma. This was confirmed in OVA-stimulated THP-1 cells that DEX treatment resulted in reductions in pyroptosis, glycolysis and lactic acid level. Finally, protein lactylation was found significantly increased in the lungs of asthmatic mice and OVA-stimulated THP-1 cells, which were both inhibited by DEX. CONCLUSION Our present study revealed that the effect of DEX on asthma control was associated with its suppressing of Hif-1α-glycolysis-lactateaxis and subsequent protein lactylation, which may open new avenues for the therapy of eosinophilic asthma.

Abstract
Objective. The instability of the EEG acquisition devices may lead to information loss in the channels or frequency bands of the collected EEG. This phenomenon may be ignored in available models, which leads to the overfitting and low generalization of the model.Approach. Multiple self-supervised learning tasks are introduced in the proposed model to enhance the generalization of EEG emotion recognition and reduce the overfitting problem to some extent. Firstly, channel masking and frequency masking are introduced to simulate the information loss in certain channels and frequency bands resulting from the instability of EEG, and two self-supervised learning-based feature reconstruction tasks combining masked graph autoencoders (GAE) are constructed to enhance the generalization of the shared encoder. Secondly, to take full advantage of the complementary information contained in these two self-supervised learning tasks to ensure the reliability of feature reconstruction, a weight sharing (WS) mechanism is introduced between the two graph decoders. Thirdly, an adaptive weight multi-task loss (AWML) strategy based on homoscedastic uncertainty is adopted to combine the supervised learning loss and the two self-supervised learning losses to enhance the performance further.Main results. Experimental results on SEED, SEED-V, and DEAP datasets demonstrate that: (i) Generally, the proposed model achieves higher averaged emotion classification accuracy than various baselines included in both subject-dependent and subject-independent scenarios. (ii) Each key module contributes to the performance enhancement of the proposed model. (iii) It achieves higher training efficiency, and significantly lower model size and computational complexity than the state-of-the-art (SOTA) multi-task-based model. (iv) The performances of the proposed model are less influenced by the key parameters.Significance. The introduction of the self-supervised learning task helps to enhance the generalization of the EEG emotion recognition model and eliminate overfitting to some extent, which can be modified to be applied in other EEG-based classification tasks.

Abstract
Non-structural protein 2 (nsp2) exists in all coronaviruses (CoVs), while its primary function in viral pathogenicity, is largely unclear. One such enteric CoV, porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), causes high mortality in neonatal piglets worldwide. To determine the biological role of nsp2, we generated a PEDV mutant containing a complete nsp2 deletion (rPEDV-Δnsp2) from a highly pathogenic strain by reverse genetics, showing that nsp2 was dispensable for PEDV infection, while its deficiency reduced viral replication in vitro. Intriguingly, rPEDV-Δnsp2 was entirely avirulent in vivo, with significantly increased productions of IFNB (interferon beta) and IFN-stimulated genes (ISGs) in various intestinal tissues of challenged newborn piglets. Notably, nsp2 targets and degrades TBK1 (TANK binding kinase 1), the critical kinase in the innate immune response. Mechanistically, nsp2 induced the macroautophagy/autophagy process and recruited a selective autophagic receptor, NBR1 (NBR1 autophagy cargo receptor). NBR1 subsequently facilitated the K48-linked ubiquitination of TBK1 and delivered it for autophagosome-mediated degradation. Accordingly, the replication of rPEDV-Δnsp2 CoV was restrained by reduced autophagy and excess productions of type I IFNs and ISGs. Our data collectively define enteric CoV nsp2 as a novel virulence determinant, propose a crucial role of nsp2 in diminishing innate antiviral immunity by targeting TBK1 for NBR1-mediated selective autophagy, and pave the way to develop a new type of nsp2-based attenuated PEDV vaccine. Abstract
Transglutaminase 2 (Tgm2) plays an essential role in hepatic repair following prolonged toxic injury. During cholestatic liver injury, the intrahepatic cholangiocytes undergo dynamic tissue expansion and remodelling, referred to as ductular reaction (DR), which is crucial for liver regeneration. However, the molecular mechanisms governing the dynamics of active cells in DR are still largely unclear. Here, we generated Tgm2-knockout mice (Tgm2-/-) and Tgm2-CreERT2-Rosa26-mTmG flox/flox (Tgm2CreERT2-R26T/Gf/f) mice and performed a three-dimensional (3D) collagen gel culture of mouse hepatocytes to demonstrate how Tgm2 signalling is involved in DR to remodel intrahepatic cholangiocytes. Our results showed that the deletion of Tgm2 adversely affected the functionality and maturity of the proliferative cholangiocytes in DR, thus leading to more severe cholestasis during DDC-induced liver injury. Additionally, Tgm2 hepatocytes played a crucial role in the regulation of DR through metaplasia. We unveiled that Tgm2 regulated H3K4me3Q5ser via serotonin to promote BMP signalling activation to participate in DR. Besides, we revealed that the activation or inhibition of BMP signalling could promote or suppress the development and maturation of cholangiocytes in DDC-induced DR. Furthermore, our 3D collagen gel culture assay indicated that Tgm2 was vital for the development of cholangiocytes in vitro. Our results uncovered a considerable role of BMP signalling in controlling metaplasia of Tgm2 hepatocytes in DR and revealed the phenotypic plasticity of mature hepatocytes.

Abstract
This study focuses on recent advances in proteomics and provides an up-to-date use of this technology in identifying cardiovascular disease (CVD) biomarkers. A total of eight electronic databases (PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Wanfang, Vip, Sinomed, and CNKI) were searched and five were used for integrative analysis of sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic ratio (DOR) and 1 secondary indicator area under the curve (AUC). This systematic review and integrative analysis summarized potential biomarkers previously identified by proteomics. The integrative analysis suggested that proteomics technology had high clinical value in CVD diagnosis. The findings provided new possible directions for the prevention or diagnosis of CVD.

Abstract
Background At present, the diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD) mainly relies on clinical symptoms and psychological scales, and finding objective indicators that are helpful for diagnosis has always been a challenge in clinical practice and academic research. Neuroimaging is a useful and powerful tool for discovering the biomarkers of PTSD,especially functional MRI (fMRI), structural MRI (sMRI) and Diffusion Weighted Imaging(DTI)are the most commonly used technologies, which can provide multiple perspectives on brain function, structure and its connectivity. Machine learning (ML) is an emerging and potentially powerful method, which has aroused people's interest because it is used together with neuroimaging data to define brain structural and functional abnormalities related to diseases, and identify phenotypes, such as helping physicians make early diagnosis. Objectives According to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) declaration, a systematic review was conducted to assess its accuracy in distinguishing between PTSD patients, TEHC(Trauma-Exposed Healthy Controls), and HC(healthy controls). Methods We searched PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science using common words for ML methods and PTSD until June 2023, with no language or time limits. This review includes 13 studies, with sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy taken from each publication or acquired directly from the authors. Results All ML techniques have an diagnostic accuracy rate above 70%,and support vector machine(SVM) are the most commonly used techniques. This series of studies has revealed significant neurobiological differences in key brain regions among individuals with PTSD, TEHC, and HC. The connectivity patterns of regions such as the Insula and Amygdala hold particular significance in distinguishing these groups. TEHC exhibits more normal connectivity patterns compared to PTSD, providing valuable insights for the application of machine learning in PTSD diagnosis. Conclusion In contrast to any currently available assessment and clinical diagnosis, ML techniques can be used as an effective and non-invasive support for early identification and detection of patients as well as for early screening of high-risk populations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND As an endemic shrub of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP), the distribution of Hippophae tibetana Schlecht. ranges between 2800 and 5200 m above sea level. As the most basal branch of the Hippophae genus, H. tibetana has an extensive evolutionary history. The H. tibetana is a valuable tree for studying the ecological evolution of species under extreme conditions. RESULTS Here, we generated a high-quality chromosome-level genome of H. tibetana. The total size of the assembly genome is 917 Mb. The phylogenomic analysis of 1064 single-copy genes showed a divergence between 3.4 and 12.8 Mya for H. tibetana. Multiple gene families associated with DNA repair and disease resistance were significantly expanded in H. tibetana. We also identified many genes related to DNA repair with signs of positive selection. These results showed expansion and positive selection likely play important roles in H. tibetana's adaptation to comprehensive extreme environments in the QTP. A comprehensive genomic and transcriptomic analysis identified 49 genes involved in the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway in H. tibetana. We generated transgenic sea buckthorn hairy root producing high levels of flavonoid. CONCLUSIONS Taken together, this H. tibetana high-quality genome provides insights into the plant adaptation mechanisms of plant under extreme environments and lay foundation for the functional genomic research and molecular breeding of H. tibetana.

Abstract
Ice has been suggested to have played a significant role in the origin of life partly owing to its ability to concentrate organic molecules and promote reaction efficiency. However, the techniques for studying organic molecules in ice are absorption-based, which limits the sensitivity of measurements. Here we introduce an emission-based method to study organic molecules in water ice: the phosphorescence displays high sensitivity depending on the hydration state of an organic salt probe, acridinium iodide (ADI). The designed ADI aqueous system exhibits phosphorescence that can be severely perturbed when the temperature is higher than 110 K at a concentration of the order of 10-5M, indicating changes in hydration for ADI. Using the ADI phosphorescent probe, it is found that the microstructures of water ice, i.e., crystalline vs. glassy, can be strongly dictated by a trace amount (as low as 10-5M) of water-soluble organic molecules. Consistent with cryoSEM images and temperature-dependent Raman spectral data, the ADI is dehydrated in more crystalline ice and hydrated in more glassy ice. The current investigation serves as a starting point for using more sensitive spectroscopic techniques for studying water-organics interactions at a much lower concentration and wider temperature range.

Abstract
d-Amino acids (d-AAs) have wide applications in industries such as pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetics due to their unique properties. Currently, the production of d-AAs has relied on chemical synthesis or enzyme catalysts, and it is challenging to produce d-AAs via direct fermentation from glucose. We observed that Corynebacterium glutamicum exhibits a remarkable tolerance to high concentrations of d-Ala, a crucial characteristic for establishing a successful fermentation process. By optimizing meso-diaminopilmelate dehydrogenases in different C. glutamicum strains and successively deleting l-Ala biosynthetic pathways, we developed an efficient d-Ala fermentation system. The d-Ala titer was enhanced through systems metabolic engineering, which involved strengthening glucose assimilation and pyruvate supply, reducing the formation of organic acid byproducts, and attenuating the TCA cycle. During fermentation in a 5-L bioreactor, a significant accumulation of l-Ala was observed in the broth, which was subsequently diminished by introducing an l-amino acid deaminase. Ultimately, the engineered strain DA-11 produced 85 g/L d-Ala with a yield of 0.30 g/g glucose, accompanied by an optical purity exceeding 99%. The fermentation platform has the potential to be extended for the synthesis of other d-AAs, as demonstrated by the production of d-Val and d-Glu.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze immune reconstitution and influencing factors in HIV infected men who have sex with men (MSM) with access to antiviral therapy (ART) in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (Guangxi) during 2005-2021. Methods: The data were collected from Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Information System. The study subjects were HIV infected MSM with access to the initial ART for ≥24 weeks in Guangxi from 2005 to 2021 and HIV RNA lower than the detection limit within 24 months. The proportion of infected MSM who had immune reconstitution after ART was calculated. Cox proportional hazard regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of immune reconstitution. Software SPSS 24.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results: A total of 3 200 HIV infected MSM were enrolled, in whom 15.56 % (498/3 200) had no immune reconstitution, 14.78% (473/3 200) had moderate immune reconstitution, and the rate of complete immune reconstitution was 69.66% (2 229/3 200). The M (Q1, Q3) of ART time for immune reconstitution was 12 (5, 27) months. Multivariate Cox proportional risk regression model analysis results showed that compared with those with initial ART at age ≥30 years, WHO clinical stage Ⅲ/Ⅳ illness, baseline BMI <18.50 kg/m2 and baseline CD4+T lymphocyte (CD4) counts <200 cells/µl, HIV infected MSM with initial ART at age <30 years, WHO clinical stageⅠ/Ⅱ illness, baseline BMI≥24.00 kg/m2 and baseline CD4 counts ≥200 cells/µl were more likely to have complete immune reconstitution. Conclusions: In the HIV infected MSM in Guangxi, failures to achieve moderate and complete immune reconstitution were observed. Surveillance and ART regimen should be improved for key populations, such as those with older age and low baseline CD4 counts.

Abstract
Carbon neutral or negative mining can potentially be achieved by integrating carbon mineralization processes into the mine design, operations, and closure plans. Brucite [Mg(OH)2] is a highly reactive mineral present in some ultramafic mine tailings with the potential to be rapidly carbonated and can contain significant amounts of ferrous iron [Fe(II)] substituted for Mg; however, the influence of this substitution on carbon mineralization reaction products and efficiency has not been thoroughly constrained. To better assess the efficiency of carbon storage in brucite-bearing tailings, we performed carbonation experiments using synthetic Fe(II)-substituted brucite (0, 6, 23, and 44 mol % Fe) slurries in oxic and anoxic conditions with 10% CO2. Additionally, the carbonation process was evaluated using different background electrolytes (NaCl, Na2SO4, and Na4SiO4). Our results indicate that carbonation efficiency decreases with increasing Fe(II) substitution. In oxic conditions, precipitation of ferrihydrite [Fe10IIIO14(OH)2] and layered double hydroxides {e.g., pyroaurite [Mg6Fe2III(OH)16CO3·4H2O]} limited carbonation efficiency. Carbonation in anoxic environments led to the formation of Fe(II)-substituted nesquehonite (MgCO3·3H2O) and dypingite [Mg5(CO3)4(OH)2·∼5H2O], as well as chukanovite [Fe2IICO3(OH)2] in the case of 23 and 44 mol % Fe(II)-brucite carbonation. Carbonation efficiencies were consistent between chloride- and sulfate-rich solutions but declined in the presence of dissolved Si due to the formation of amorphous SiO2·nH2O and Fe-Mg silicates. Overall, our results indicate that carbonation efficiency and the long-term fate of stored CO2 may depend on the amount of substituted Fe(II) in both feedstock minerals and carbonate products.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the predictive value of parameters of every precordial lead and their combinations in differentiating between idiopathic ventricular arrhythmias (IVAs) from the right ventricular outflow tract and aortic sinus of Valsalva (ASV). METHODS AND RESULTS Between March 1, 2018, and December 1, 2021, consecutive patients receiving successful ablation of right ventricular outflow tract or ASV IVAs were enrolled. The amplitude and duration of the R wave and S wave were measured in every precordial lead during IVAs. These parameters were either summed, subtracted, multiplied, or divided to create different indexes. The index with the highest area under the curve to predict ASV IVAs was developed, compared with established indexes, and validated in an independent prospective multicenter cohort. A total of 150 patients (60 men; mean age, 45.3±16.4 years) were included in the derivation cohort. The RV1+RV3 index (summed R-wave amplitude in leads V1 and V3) had the highest area under the curve (0.942) among the established indexes. An RV1+RV3 index >1.3 mV could predict ASV IVAs with a sensitivity of 95% and a specificity of 83%. Its predictive performance was maintained in the validation cohort (N=109). In patients with V3 R/S transition, an RV1+RV3 index >1.3 mV could predict ASV IVAs, with an area under the curve of 0.892, 93% sensitivity, and 75% specificity. CONCLUSIONS The RV1+RV3 index is a simple and novel criterion that accurately differentiates between right ventricular outflow tract and ASV IVAs. Its performance outperformed established indexes, making it a valuable tool in clinical practice.

Abstract
PURPOSE Frailty, type 2 diabetes (T2D) and dyslipidemia are highly prevalent in middle-aged and elderly populations. However, evidence on the longitudinal association of frailty with T2D and dyslipidemia is limited. The aim of our study was to explore the cross-sectional and longitudinal effects of frailty levels on T2D and dyslipidemia in combination with phenotypic frailty and frailty index (FI). MATERIALS AND METHODS Multivariate logistic regression model was used to explore the association of frailty status with T2D and dyslipidemia. Area under curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) to estimate the predictive values of phenotypic frailty and frailty index for T2D and dyslipidemia. In addition, depressive symptom was used as a mediating variable to examine whether it mediates the association between frailty and T2D or dyslipidemia. RESULTS 10,203 and 9587 participants were chosen for the longitudinal association analysis of frailty with T2D and dyslipidemia. Frailty was associated with T2D (phenotypic frailty: OR=1.50, 95 %CI=1.03, 2.17; FI: OR=1.17, 95 %CI=1.08, 1.26) and dyslipidemia (phenotypic frailty: OR=1.56, 95 %CI=1.16, 2.10; FI: OR=1.17, 95 %CI=1.10, 1.25). Phenotypic frailty and frailty index significantly improved the risk discrimination of T2D and dyslipidemia (p<0.05). Depressive symptoms played a mediating role in the association between frailty and long-term T2D or dyslipidemia (p<0.05). CONCLUSION Frailty had adverse effects on type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia, with depressive symptoms acting as the mediator.

Abstract
Asthma demonstrates a strong circadian rhythm with disrupted molecular clock. Melatonin which can directly regulate circadian rhythm has been reported to alleviate asthma, but whether this effect is related to its regulation on circadian clock has not yet been known. Here, female C57BL/6 mice were challenged with ovalbumin (OVA) to establish allergic airway inflammation, and were treated with melatonin or Luzindole to investigate whether the expressions of circadian clock proteins were changed in response to OVA and were affected by exogenous/endogenous melatonin. Airway inflammation, mucus secretion, protein expressions of circadian proteins (Bmal1, Per1, Clock, Timeless, Cry1 and Cry2), melatonin biosynthetase (ASMT, AANAT) and melatonin receptor (Mel-1A/B-R) were analyzed accordingly. The results showed that in the successfully established allergic airway inflammation model, inflammatory cells infiltration, expressions of circadian clock proteins in the lung tissues of OVA-challenged mice were all notably up-regulated as compared to that of the vehicle mice. Meanwhile, the protein expression of ASMT and the level of melatonin in the lung tissues were reduced in allergic mice, while the expression of melatonin receptor Mel-1A/B-R was markedly increased. After addition of exogenous melatonin, the OVA-induced airway inflammation was pronouncedly ameliorated, while simultaneously the OVA-induced expressions of Per1 and Clock were further increased. However, a melatonin receptor antagonist Luzindole further augmented the OVA-induced airway inflammation, accompanied with remarkably decreased expressions of Per1, Bmal1, Cry1 and Cry2 but notably increased expression of Timeless. Collectively, our results demonstrated that the expression of circadian clock proteins was increased in the lungs during allergic airway inflammation, and Per1 was a clock protein that can be regulated by both exogenous and endogenous melatonin, suggesting Per1 may be an important potential circadian clock target for melatonin as a negative regulatory factor against Th2-type airway inflammation.

Abstract
Accurate indel calling plays an important role in precision medicine. A benchmarking indel set is essential for thoroughly evaluating the indel calling performance of bioinformatics pipelines. A reference sample with a set of known-positive variants was developed in the FDA-led Sequencing Quality Control Phase 2 (SEQC2) project, but the known indels in the known-positive set were limited. This project sought to provide an enriched set of known indels that would be more translationally relevant by focusing on additional cancer related regions. A thorough manual review process completed by 42 reviewers, two advisors, and a judging panel of three researchers significantly enriched the known indel set by an additional 516 indels. The extended benchmarking indel set has a large range of variant allele frequencies (VAFs), with 87% of them having a VAF below 20% in reference Sample A. The reference Sample A and the indel set can be used for comprehensive benchmarking of indel calling across a wider range of VAF values in the lower range. Indel length was also variable, but the majority were under 10 base pairs (bps). Most of the indels were within coding regions, with the remainder in the gene regulatory regions. Although high confidence can be derived from the robust study design and meticulous human review, this extensive indel set has not undergone orthogonal validation. The extended benchmarking indel set, along with the indels in the previously published known-positive set, was the truth set used to benchmark indel calling pipelines in a community challenge hosted on the precisionFDA platform. This benchmarking indel set and reference samples can be utilized for a comprehensive evaluation of indel calling pipelines. Additionally, the insights and solutions obtained during the manual review process can aid in improving the performance of these pipelines.

Abstract
AURKA is an established target for cancer therapy; however, the efficacy of its inhibitors in clinical trials is hindered by differential response rates across different tumor subtypes. In this study, we demonstrate AURKA regulates amino acid synthesis, rendering it a vulnerable target in KEAP1-deficient non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Through CRISPR metabolic screens, we identified that KEAP1-knockdown cells showed the highest sensitivity to the AURKA inhibitor MLN8237. Subsequent investigations confirmed that KEAP1 deficiency heightens the susceptibility of NSCLC cells to AURKA inhibition both in vitro and in vivo, with the response depending on NRF2 activation. Mechanistically, AURKA interacts with the eIF2α kinase GCN2 and maintains its phosphorylation to regulate eIF2α-ATF4-mediated amino acid biosynthesis. AURKA inhibition restrains the expression of asparagine synthetase (ASNS), making KEAP1-deficient NSCLC cells vulnerable to AURKA inhibitors, in which ASNS is highly expressed. Our study unveils the pivotal role of AURKA in amino acid metabolism and identifies a specific metabolic indication for AURKA inhibitors. These findings also provide a novel clinical therapeutic target for KEAP1-mutant/deficient NSCLC, which is characterized by resistance to radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy.

Abstract
The sex of dioecious plants is mainly determined by genetic factors, but it can also be converted by environmental cues such as exogenous phytohormones. Gibberellic acids (GAs) are well-known inducers of flowering and sexual development, yet the pathway of gibberellin-induced sex conversion in dioecious spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) remains elusive. Based on sex detection before and after GA3 application using T11A and SSR19 molecular markers, we confirmed and elevated the masculinization effect of GA on a single female plant through exogenous applications of GA3 , showing complete conversion and functional stamens. Silencing of GIBBERELLIC ACID INSENSITIVE (SpGAI), a single DELLA family protein that is a central GA signaling repressor, results in similar masculinization. We also show that SpGAI can physically interact with the spinach KNOX transcription factor SHOOT MERISTEMLESS (SpSTM), which is a homolog of the flower meristem identity regulator STM in Arabidopsis. The silencing of SpSTM also masculinized female flowers in spinach. Furthermore, SpSTM could directly bind the intron of SpPI to repress SpPI expression in developing female flowers. Overall, our results suggest that GA induces a female masculinization process through the SpGAI-SpSTM-SpPI regulatory module in spinach. These insights may help to clarify the molecular mechanism underlying the sex conversion system in dioecious plants while also elucidating the physiological basis for the generation of unisexual flowers so as to establish dioecy in plants.

Abstract
Succinimide intermediates play the crucial role in the nucleation process for protein amyloid fibril formation, as they can usually induce a non-native conformation in a fraction of soluble proteins to render amyloidogenicity and neurotoxicity. Thus, in situ detection of succinimide intermediates during amyloid fibrillation kinetics is of considerable importance, albeit challenging, because these succinimides are generally unstable in physiological conditions. Here, we found an in situ Raman spectral fingerprint to trace the succinimide intermediates in amyloid fibril formation, wherein the carbonyl symmetric stretching of cyclic imide in the succinimide derivative is located at ca. 1790 cm-1. Using its intensity as an indicator of succinimide intermediates, we have in situ detected and unravelled the role of succinimide intermediates during the oligomer formation from the Bz-Asp-Gly-NH2 dipeptide or the amyloid fibrillation kinetics of lysozyme with thermal/acid treatment.

Abstract
This study focuses on the latest developments in the studies of m6A modification and provides an up-to-date summary of the association between m6A modification and type 2 diabetes (T2D). The possible mechanisms of m6A related to T2D were summarized by literature review. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of m6A methylase in T2D were analyzed from 12 datasets in Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). The associations between m6A level and T2D were explored in four electronic databases, including PubMed, EmBase, Web of Science and CNKI. Standard mean difference (SMD) and 95 % confidence interval (95 %CI) was calculated to assess the total effect in integrative analysis. Differential expression genes detected in at least three of six tissues were ZC3H13, YTHDC1/2, and IGF2BP2. LRPPRC were differentially expressed in five tissues except in arterial tissue. A total of 6 studies were included for integrative analysis. The mean m6A levels were significantly lower in T2D than those in normal controls (SMD = -1.35, 95 %CI: -2.58 to -0.11). This systematic review and integrative analysis summarize the previous studies on the association between m6A modification and T2D and the possible role of m6A modification in the progression of T2D, such as abnormal blood glucose, abnormal pancreatic β-cell function, insulin resistance, and abnormal lipid metabolism. The integrative analysis showed that decreased level of m6A was associated with T2D. These findings provide new targets for early detection and treatment for T2D.

Abstract
Iron (Fe) minerals are known to be effective adsorbents for arsenic (As). However, the effects of sulfur species formed from the reductive dissolution of Fe minerals on the transformation of As(III) during the redox fluctuations processes under ambient conditions were poorly understood. Herein, we synthesized the As(III)-Fe minerals using sodium arsenite and ferric nitrate to investigate the effects of sulfur species on As(III) transformation in the As(III)-Fe minerals. Experimental results showed that sulfite rather than elemental sulfur and thiosulfate significantly accelerated As(III) oxidation. The oxidation rate of As(III) increased markedly from 0.0050 to 0.0168 min-1 with the increase of sulfite concentration from 0.5 to 2.0 mM. Sulfate radicals (SO4•-) and hydroxyl radicals (•OH) were identified as the dominant reactive species for As(III) oxidation. Besides, the underlying mechanism of Fe(II)/Fe(III) cycling for enhancing As(III) oxidation was further explored in the homogeneous Fe(II)/sulfite systems. Finally, interactions between sulfite and soil components induced radical formation, leading to As(III) oxidation in the soil environments. This study gives new insights into As(III) transformation co-existed with Fe minerals and sulfur species, which shed light on developing remediation strategies for regulating As contamination in temporarily flooded soils. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATION: "New Insights into the Mechanism of Sulfur Species Induced As(III) Oxidation in the As-Fe Minerals" This study systematically explored the coupled effects between sulfur species and Fe minerals on As(III) transformation in the As-Fe-minerals under oxic conditions, which showed that sulfite significantly accelerated As(III) oxidation to As(V) via the enhanced formation reactive oxygen species (e.g., SO4•- and •OH). This study shed light on the development of remediation strategies in the contaminated soils with toxic pollutants via introducing sulfur species. We strongly believe this study is of great interest to environmental scientists and chemical engineers, especially those who works on the remediation of contaminated sites and wish to explore the high-efficiency strategies for the control of toxic pollutants like As.

Abstract
The precise control of the spatiotemporal process in a roller kiln is crucial in the production of Ni-Co-Mn layered cathode material of lithium-ion batteries. Since the product is extremely sensitive to temperature distribution, temperature field control is of great significance. In this article, an event-triggered optimal control (ETOC) method with input constraints for the temperature field is proposed, which takes up an important position in reducing the communication and computation costs. A nonquadratic cost function is adopted to describe the system performance with input constraints. First, we present the problem description of the temperature field event-triggered control, where this field is described by a partial differential equation (PDE). Then, the event-triggered condition is designed according to the information of system states and control inputs. On this basis, a framework of the event-triggered adaptive dynamic programming (ETADP) method that is based on the model reduction technology is proposed for the PDE system. A critic network is used to approach the optimal performance index by a neural network (NN) together with that an actor network is used to optimize the control strategy. Furthermore, an upper bound of the performance index and a lower bound of interexecution times, as well as the stabilities of the impulsive dynamic system and the closed-loop PDE system, are also proved. Simulation verification demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies have shown that systemic inflammation and suboptimal nutritional status are associated with poor cancer prognosis. This study aims to investigate the prognostic value of preoperative Glasgow prognostic score (GPS) and fibrinogen-to-prealbumin ratio (FPR) in patients with CRC (colorectal cancer) after laparoscopic surgery. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this study, the clinical data of 112 patients with CRC who underwent laparoscopic surgery were retrospectively analyzed, and the 3-year and 5-year survival rates of these patients were evaluated. In addition, the prognostic role of preoperative FPR and GPS in CRC patients was assessed using X-tile software, Kaplan-Meier analysis, and Cox regression analysis. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were generated to assess the predictive value of FPR, GPS, and FPR-GPS for the survival of these patients. RESULTS The results revealed a significant negative correlation between high FPR, elevated GPS, and overall survival (OS) in patients with CRC. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses identified GPS (HR=3.207, 95% CI: 1.746~6.126), FPR (HR=2.669, 95% CI: 1.052~6.772), and lymph node metastasis (HR=2.222, 95% CI: 1.199~4.115) as independent prognostic indicators for overall survival. The ROC analysis demonstrated that the prediction based on FPR and GPS outperformed a single indicator in accurately predicting the prognosis of CRC patients. CONCLUSIONS Combining the preoperative FPR with the GPS contributes to accurate prognosis assessment for CRC patients after laparoscopic surgery. Patients exhibiting high FPR and GPS values are associated with a worse prognosis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE In this study, we aimed to evaluate the combined diagnostic value of procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), and serum amyloid A (SAA) in sepsis caused by urinary tract infection. METHOD A total of 80 patients with urosepsis who were hospitalized were included in the study group, and 80 patients with urinary tract infection without sepsis were included in the control group. We collected the PCT, SAA, and CRP levels of patients following admission. Subsequently, we conducted a comparative analysis to assess the specificity, accuracy, and sensitivity of combined diagnostic approaches in contrast to individual diagnostic methods for blood PCT, SAA, and CRP. RESULTS The levels of PCT, SAA, and CRP in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.01). Multi-factor logistic regression analysis revealed that the levels of PCT (P = 0.003) and SAA (P = 0.014) were associated with urosepsis. The sensitivity of PCT was 87.133% and the specificity was 93.066%, which were higher than that of SAA and CRP. The specificity of the combined detection of the three was 95.670%, which was higher than that of PCT, SAA, and CRP alone. Correlation analysis revealed that PCT had a significant positive correlation with CRP and SAA (P < 0.01), and a weak correlation with white blood cell count (WBC) and fibrinogen (FIB) (P = 0.03 for WBC, P = 0.04 for FIB). CONCLUSION PCT, SAA, and CRP indicators in patients with urosepsis are significantly elevated, and all three are valuable in the diagnosis of urosepsis. PCT alone has good diagnostic efficiency for urosepsis, and a certain correlation with other inflammatory factors. The diagnostic efficacy of the three indicators in combination is better than that of any one of the three, and is worthy of widespread clinical application.

Abstract
It is urgent to identify novel early diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which accounts for 85% of lung cancer cases and has a 5-year survival rate of 4-17%. Here, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) was used to identify DNA‒protein interactions, RNA methylation was determined by methylated RNA immunoprecipitation (MeRIP), RNA stability was tested by an RNA decay assay. We showed that RAD21, a member of the cohesin complex, is upregulated in NSCLC tissues and cell lines and found to be an independent prognostic factor for overall survival (OS) of NSCLC patients. Mechanistically, the cohesin loading factor Nipped-B-Like Protein (NIPBL) promoted RAD21 gene transcription by enhancing histone H3 lysine 27 (H3K27) demethylation via recruiting lysine demethylase 6B (KDM6B) to the RAD21 gene promoter. RAD21 enhanced phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) gene transcription, and NIPBL reversed the effect of enhancer of zeste 2; catalytic subunit of polycomb repressive complex 2 (EZH2) on RAD21-mediated PI3K gene transcription by disrupting the association between EZH2 and RAD21. Moreover, NIPBL level was increased by stabilization of its transcripts through mRNA methylation. These findings highlight the oncogenic role of RAD21 in NSCLC and suggest its use as a potential diagnostic marker and therapeutic target for NSCLC.

Abstract
Background This study aims to utilize the extended Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model to examine the intentions of clinical interns in China towards Human papillomaviruses (HPV) vaccination. It also fills a significant gap in the literature concerning vaccine acceptance in this specific population. Methods This cross-sectional study was carried out with clinical interns in Shandong Province, China, with a total of 1,619 participants. Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires, including demographic characteristics, TPB variables, and HPV-related health knowledge. Hierarchical regression analysis was employed to identify key factors influencing vaccination intentions, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the interrelationships between these factors. Results This study initially identified key predictors affecting clinical interns' intentions to receive the HPV vaccine through hierarchical regression analysis. The preliminary model, which accounted for demographic factors, revealed foundational impacts of household income and HPV-related clinical experience on intentions. After integrating TPB variables-attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and HPV-related health knowledge-the model's explanatory power was enhanced to 37.30%. SEM analysis focused on the interplay among TPB constructs and extended variables, confirming their significance in forming vaccination intentions, with subjective norm having the most substantial impact (β = 0.375, p < 0.001). The extended TPB model explained over half of the variance in vaccination intentions, substantiating the hypotheses and revealing the psychological determinants behind clinical interns' decision-making for HPV vaccination. Conclusion The extended TPB model from this study effectively explains the vaccination intentions among clinical interns for HPV, offering theoretical support for public health strategies and educational interventions targeting this group. These findings are of significant importance for public health practice and future health promotion strategies.

Abstract
In situ pulmonary artery thrombosis (ISPAT) is a relatively rare but potentially life-threatening complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in children. We report the case of a 12-year-old girl who presented with fever, chest pain, and dyspnea. Immune thrombocytopenia was identified due to purpura and menorrhagia 3 months before presentation with a lowest platelet count of 12 × 109/L. The sudden onset of fever, chest pain, and dyspnea were misdiagnosed as hyperinflammatory responses caused by pneumonia; these symptoms ameliorated with glucocorticoid and antibiotic treatment. The reappearance of symptoms after dose reduction of glucocorticoids and the observation of bloody bronchoalveolar lavage fluid necessitated further evaluation. Pulmonary artery thrombosis/embolism was identified using computed tomography pulmonary angiography and high D-dimer quantitative level of 4,118 μg/L (normal <252 μg/L). Ultrasonography of the deep and superficial veins of both lower limbs and renal veins revealed no thrombosis, suggesting the diagnosis of ISPAT. Further etiological evaluation revealed positive antinuclear antibodies, lupus anticoagulant, and anti-SSA antibodies, confirming SLE. Repeated normal urine analysis indicated that lupus nephritis was unlikely. Further, the negative anticardiolipin and anti-β2 glycoprotein antibodies and temporary positive lupus anticoagulant suggested that antiphospholipid syndrome was unlikely. The patient received anticoagulants, glucocorticoids, hydroxychloroquine, and mycophenolate therapy. Her symptoms gradually improved, and she was discharged. At the 1-month follow-up, the thrombosis had resolved. During the 1-year follow-up, her condition remained well without SLE relapse. Our experience with this case emphasizes searching for SLE in the case of ISPAT and pulmonary hemorrhages. ISPAT can occur in children with SLE and may be caused by hyperinflammatory response during SLE flare.

Abstract
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder. As the demographic shifting towards an aging population, AD has emerged as a prominent public health concern. The pathogenesis of AD is complex, and there are no effective treatment methods for AD until now. In recent years, neurotrophic factors and bioactive peptides including brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF), irisin, melatonin, have been discovered to exert neuroprotective functions for AD. Bioactive peptides can be divided into two categories based on their sources: endogenous and exogenous. This review briefly elaborates on the pathogenesis of AD and analyzes the regulatory effects of endogenous and exogenous peptides on the pathogenesis of AD, thereby providing new therapeutic targets for AD and a theoretical basis for the application of bioactive peptides as adjunctive therapies for AD.

Abstract
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disease characterized by both amnestic and non-amnestic clinical manifestations. It accounts for approximately 60-70% of all dementia cases worldwide. With the increasing number of AD patients, elucidating underlying mechanisms and developing corresponding interventional strategies are necessary. Hypotheses about AD such as amyloid cascade, Tau hyper-phosphorylation, neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, cholinergic, and vascular hypotheses are not mutually exclusive, and all of them play a certain role in the development of AD. The amyloid cascade hypothesis is currently the most widely studied; however, other hypotheses are also gaining support. This article summarizes the recent evidence regarding major pathological hypotheses of AD and their potential interplay, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of each hypothesis and their implications for the development of effective treatments. This could stimulate further studies and promote the development of more effective therapeutic strategies for AD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS In prospective studies, there is limited evidence of the association between inflammation and hypertension. We aimed to explore the relationship between systemic immune inflammatory index (SII)/systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) and hypertension in a prospective cohort study to identify the best inflammatory cell markers that predict hypertension. METHODS AND RESULTS This study was conducted in a functional community cohort in Beijing. In 2015, a total of 6003 individuals without hypertension were recruited and followed up until 2021. Using a restriction cubic spline with baseline SII/SIRI as a continuous variable, the dose-response relationship between hypertension and SII/SIRI was explored. Logistic regression was used to analyze the correlation between hypertension and SII/SIRI trajectory groups. At a mean follow-up of 6 years, 970 participants developed hypertension. SII showed a significant nonlinear dose-response relationship with hypertension (P < 0.05). Higher SII/SIRI was associated with an increased risk of hypertension (SII: RR = 1.003, 95%CI: 1.001-1.004; SIRI: RR = 1.228, 95%CI: 1.015-1.486). Both SII and SIRI were more predictive in males than females (SII: 0.698 vs. 0.695; SIRI: 0.686 vs. 0.678). CONCLUSION Both systemic immune inflammatory index (SII) and systemic inflammatory response Index (SIRI) independently increased the risk of hypertension, and both were effective inflammatory cell indicators that predict the risk of hypertension.

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the separate and joint effects of long-term ambient air pollution and household air pollution exposure on 10-year high cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk among postmenopausal women. A total of 4679 postmenopausal women from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) were included in this study. Information of fuel type was collected by standard questionnaires and use of solid fuel was considered as a proxy for household air pollution. Data of ambient air pollutants (PM1, PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2, CO, O3) were obtained from the ChinaHighAirPollutants (CHAP) datasets. Logistic regression models were performed to assess the separate and joint effects of long-term exposure to ambient air pollution and use of solid fuel on 10-year high CVD risk. We found use of solid fuel and its duration and ambient air pollutants (PM1, PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2) were all positively associated with 10-year high CVD risk among postmenopausal women (P < 0.05). Compared to those used clean fuel and exposed to low ambient air pollution levels, odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for participants using solid fuels and exposed to high ambient air pollution levels (PM1, PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2, CO, O3) were 1.66 (1.35, 2.05), 1.66 (1.35, 2.04), 1.49 (1.22, 1.83), 1.28 (1.05, 1.57), 1.67 (1.34, 2.07), 1.28 (1.04, 1.57), 1.46 (1.18, 1.80), respectively. Moreover, significant additive interactions of solid fuel use with PM1 and PM2.5 on 10-year high CVD risk were observed, with approximately 18% and 23% of 10-year high risk of CVD attributable to the interaction. Overall, indoor and outdoor air pollution had separate and joint effects on 10-year high CVD risk among postmenopausal women. Therefore, simultaneously improving indoor and outdoor air quality are of great importance and could have a joint impact on prevention of CVD and improved health among postmenopausal women.

Abstract
Isolating Pd atoms has been shown to be crucial for the design of a Pd-based electrocatalyst toward 2e- oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). However, there are limited studies focusing on the systematic compositional design that leads to an optimal balance between activity and selectivity. Herein, we design a series of Au@Pd core@shell structures to investigate the influence of the Pd 4d orbital overlapping degree on 2e- ORR performance. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate that enhanced H2O2 selectivity and activity are achieved at Pdn clusters with n ≤ 3, and Pd clusters larger than Pd3 should be active for 4e- ORR. However, experimental results show that Au@Pd nanowires (NWs) with Pd4 as the primary structure exhibit the optimal H2O2 performance in an acidic electrolyte with a high mass activity (7.05 A mg-1 at 0.4 V) and H2O2 selectivity (nearly 95%). Thus, we report that Pd4, instead of Pd3, is the upper threshold of Pd cluster size for an ideal 2e- ORR. It results from the oxygen coverage on the catalyst surface during the ORR process, and such an oxygen coverage phenomenon causes electron redistribution and weakened *OOH binding strength on active sites, leading to enhanced activity of Pd4 with only 0.06 V overpotential in acidic media.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Hepatic artery-portal vein malformation is rarely encountered in clinical practice. Here, we reported a case of liver cirrhosis combined with hepatic artery-portal vein malformation with refractory ascites as the main symptom. And it was successfully treated by us. The present case demonstrates the role of hepatic artery-portal vein malformation in cirrhotic ascites and the importance of early diagnosis and interventional treatment. This article may provides some experience for the treatment of such patients. PATIENT CONCERNS The patient was a 72-year-old woman with a 40-year history of Hepatitis B virus surface antigen positivity who sought medical advice with a chief complaint of abdominal distension for 1 week. DIAGNOSES Enhanced abdominal computed tomography imaging of this patient revealed liver cirrhosis, splenomegaly, esophageal and gastric varices, massive ascites, and a low-density area in the S4 segment of the liver with an ambiguous boundary. Widening of the left branch of the portal vein was evident, and the portal vein was highlighted in the arterial phase and the venous phase. Digital subtraction angiography revealed substantial thickening of the left hepatic artery, and the administered contrast agent drained through the malformed vascular mass to the thickened left portal vein. Liver cirrhosis combined with hepatic artery-portal vein malformation were diagnosed. And we considered that the artery-portal vein malformation in this patient might be caused by cirrhosis. INTERVENTIONS The patient was applied diuretics, entecavir and transcatheter embolization. OUTCOMES The patient ascites did not resolve significantly when treated with diuretics alone. After the transcatheter embolization, the patient ascites relieved remarkably. CONCLUSION The patient underwent transcatheter embolization for hepatic artery-portal vein malformation, after which her ascites resolved with good short-term curative efficacy. So, the patients who suffered from liver cirrhosis combined with hepatic artery-portal vein malformation and refractory ascites, should be active on transcatheter embolization.

Abstract
This study examines the causal impact of very important person (VIP) medical services on hospital total factor productivity in Deyang, a prefectural-level city in western China, spanning the years 2015-2020. This aims to offer empirical evidence and policy recommendations for the implementation of VIP practices in the medical field. A secondary unbalanced panel dataset of 416 observations was collected from the annual reports of the Health Commission and 92 eligible medical institutions were included. This study utilized a two-stage strategy. First, the Global Malmquist index was used to calculate the total factor productivity and its decomposition terms for hospitals from 2015 to 2020. In the second stage, two-way fixed effects models and Tobit models were used to identify the relationship between VIP medical services and hospital efficiency; instrumental variables were used to solve potential endogeneity problems in the model. The results showed that VIP medical services had a significantly negative impact on medical institutions' efficiency. The technological advances and pure technical efficiency related to VIP medical care may help explain these negative impacts, which were heterogeneous across groups divided by the nature of the hospital and the outside environment. It is imperative to prioritize the standardized provision of VIP medical services for medical institutions, optimize management and service process, enhance the training of clinical and scientific research capabilities of medical personnel, and scientifically allocate resources for both VIP and general medical services. This will help mitigate health inequality while improving the overall quality of medical services.

Abstract
Hydrocracking of fat or Fischer-Tropsch (FT) wax from biomass to produce the jet fuel of sustainable aviation fuel has been one of the key reactions. n-Heptadecane, which is one of the model diesel fractions produced from fat or FT wax, has hardly been used for hydrocracking of hydrocarbon for jet fuel production, while n-hexadecane has often been used as one of the model compounds for this reaction. In the present study, a HY-zeolite (50 wt %, SiO2/Al2O3 = 100)-Al2O3 (50 wt %) composite-supported Pt (0.5 wt %) catalyst [0.5Pt/Y(100)35A] was tested for hydrocracking of n-heptadecane using a fixed-bed flow reactor at a H2 pressure of 0.5 MPa, H2 flow rate of 300 mL/min, WHSV of 2.3 h-1, and a catalyst weight of 2 g. Fine-tuning of the temperature to 295 °C achieved the highest selectivity of 74% for the jet fuel fraction C8-C15 with the high conversion of 99%. The jet fuel yield reached 73%, which was almost an ideal maximum yield of 75%. Similar hydrocracking of n-hexadecane has just reported the maximum yield of 51% for jet fuel fraction. Further, 0.5Pt/Z(110)35A, which has a composition similar to that of 0.5Pt/Y(100)35A except for the type of zeolite, could not give as high yield of jet fuel as 0.5Pt/Y(100)35A because the rapid conversion to lighter fractions than the jet fuel occurred by the slight increase in the reaction temperature even at a lower temperature range.

Abstract
Background The lack of randomized evidence makes it difficult to establish reliable treatment recommendations for endovascular treatment (EVT) in elderly patients. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the therapeutic effects of endovascular treatment for acute ischemic stroke in the elderly compared with younger patients. Methods Comprehensive literature retrieval was conducted to identify studies that directly compared the outcomes of EVT in elderly patients and those aged <80 years. The primary outcome was functional independence, defined as mRS 0-2 at 90 days after EVT. The secondary outcomes were the rate of successful recanalization, symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) and mortality. Odds ratios (ORs) were estimated using a random effects model. Results In total, twenty-six studies with 9,492 enrolled participants were identified. Our results showed that, compared with patients aged <80 years undergoing EVT, EVT was associated with a lower rate of functional independence at 90 days (OR = 0.38; 95% CI, 0.33-0.45; p < 0.00001) and a higher mortality rate (OR = 2.51; 95% CI, 1.98-3.18; p < 0.00001) in the elderly. Furthermore, even without a significantly observed increase in sICH (OR = 1.19; 95% CI, 0.96-1.47; p = 0.11), EVT appeared to be associated with a lower rate of successful recanalization (OR = 0.81; 95% CI, 0.68-0.96; p = 0.02). Conclusion Evidence from observational studies revealed that EVT has less functional outcomes in elderly patients with acute ischemic stroke. Further studies are needed to better identify patients aged ≥80 years who could potentially benefit from EVT.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a reliable surrogate marker of insulin resistance and previous studies have confirmed the association of TyG index with incident chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the impact of longitudinal patterns of TyG index on CKD risk among non-diabetic population is still unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the association of longitudinal patterns of TyG index with incident CKD among non-diabetic population. METHODS A total of 5484 non-diabetic participants who underwent one health examination per year from 2015 to 2017 were included in this prospective study. TyG index variability and cumulative TyG index were calculated to assess the longitudinal patterns of TyG index. Cox proportional hazard models were performed to estimate the association of TyG index variability or cumulative TyG index with incident CKD. RESULTS During a median of 3.82 years follow-up, 879 participants developed CKD. Compared with participants in the lowest quartile, the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) of incident CKD were 1.772 (95% CI: 1.453, 2.162) for the highest TyG index variability quartile and 2.091 (95% CI: 1.646, 2.655) for the highest cumulative TyG index quartile in the fully adjusted models. The best discrimination and reclassification improvement were observed after adding baseline TyG, TyG index variability and cumulative TyG index to the clinical risk model for CKD. CONCLUSIONS Both TyG index variability and cumulative TyG index can independently predict incident CKD among non-diabetic population. Monitoring longitudinal patterns of TyG index may assist with prediction and prevention of incident CKD.

Abstract
Purpose The association between immune-related adverse events (irAEs) and survival outcomes in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with programmed-death-(ligand)1 [PD-(L)1] inhibitors remains controversial, partly due to variations in dealing with immortal-time bias (ITB). Materials and Methods We retrospectively enrolled 425 advanced NSCLC patients who received anti-PD-(L)1 monotherapy between January 2016 and June 2021, stratifying them into irAE (n=127) and non-irAE (n=298) groups. The primary endpoint was to assess the impact of irAEs on progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Landmark (2-, 3-, 6-, and 9-month) and time-dependent Cox analyses were performed to eliminate ITB. Results With a median follow-up of 38.8 months, the occurrence of overall irAEs was significantly associated with superior PFS (11.2 vs. 3.4 months, p<0.0001) and OS (31.4 vs. 14.0 months, p<0.0001), which persisted in landmark and time-dependent Cox analyses. For the main organ-specific irAEs, skin, thyroid, and hepatic irAEs, respectively, showed significantly improved survival compared to the non-irAE group, whereas pneumonitis did not. Single-organ irAEs had the best outcomes compared with multi-organ or no irAE, which also held across subgroups of skin, thyroid and hepatic irAEs. Moreover, severe grade irAEs and immunotherapy discontinuation had a detrimental effect on survival, systemic steroid therapy showed little effect, while immunotherapy resumption had tolerable safety and a trend of improved survival. Conclusion After adequately adjusting ITB, the occurrence of overall irAEs predicts for favorable efficacy of anti-PD-(L)1 monotherapy in NSCLC, with better outcomes observed in patients with skin, thyroid, or hepatic irAEs, particularly those with single-organ involvement.
