Abstract
Two-dimensional nanomaterials (2D NMs) refer to nanomaterials that possess a planar topography with a thickness of one or several atomic layers. Due to their large specific surface areas, atomic thickness, rough edges, and electron confinement in two dimensions, they have emerged as promising antimicrobial agents over antibiotics in combating bacterial infections. However, 2D NMs encounter issues such as low bio-safety, easy aggregation, and limited tissue penetration efficiency. To address these concerns, hydrogels with three-dimensional (3D) networks have been developed to encapsulate 2D NMs, aiming to enhance their biocompatibility, biodegradability, and ability to regulate and remodel the tissue microenvironment at the infected site. This review systematically summarizes the current studies on 2D NM-based antibacterial hydrogels with 3D network structures (named 2N3Hs). Firstly, we introduce the emerging types of 2N3Hs and describe their antibacterial actions. Subsequently, we discuss the applications of 2N3Hs in three biomedical fields, including wound dressing, cancer treatment, and bone regeneration. Finally, we conclude the review with current challenges and future developments for 2N3Hs, highlighting their potential as a promising choice for next-generation biomedical devices, particularly in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. This review aims to provide a comprehensive and panoramic overview of anti-infective 2N3Hs for various biomedical applications.

Abstract
Bananas are the world's important fruit and staple crop in the developing countries. Cadmium (Cd) contamination in soils results in the decrease of crop yield and food safety. Bioremediation is an environmental-friendly and effective measure using Cd-tolerant plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). In our study, a Cd-resistant PGPR Bacillus cereus 2-7 was isolated and identified from a discarded gold mine. It could produce multiple plant growth promoting biomolecules such as siderophores, indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC)-deaminase and phosphatase. The extracellular accumulation was a main manner of Cd removal. Surplus Cd induced the expression of Cd resistance/transport genes of B. cereus 2-7 to maintain the intracellular Cd homeostasis. The pot experiment showed that Cd contents decreased by 50.31 % in soil, 45.43 % in roots, 56.42 % in stems and 79.69 % in leaves after the strain 2-7 inoculation for 40 d. Bacterial inoculation alleviated the Cd-induced oxidative stress to banana plantlets, supporting by the increase of chlorophyll contents, plant height and total protein contents. The Cd remediation mechanism revealed that B. cereus 2-7 could remodel the rhizosphere bacterial community structure and improve soil enzyme activities to enhance the immobilization of Cd. Our study provides a Cd-bioremediation strategy using Cd-resistant PGPR in tropical and subtropical area.

Abstract
The environmental problems in the world are attracting increasing amounts of attention, and heavy metal pollution in the water has become one of the focuses of the ecological environment. Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has excellent adsorption performance because of its extremely high specific surface area and unique active site structure, which has attracted an increasing amount of attention in the field of heavy metal disposal in various types of water. In this paper, two sorts of MoS2 nanoparticles, spherical and lamellar, were synthesized by different chemical methods. Their morphology and structure were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and a Raman spectrometer. The adsorption properties of two sorts of MoS2 nanoparticles for copper (Ⅱ) ions in water were investigated by changing the pH value, adsorption time, initial concentration of solution, adsorption temperature, etc. Finally, the adsorption mechanism was analyzed by kinetic, isothermal, and thermodynamic models. The results show that two microstructures of MoS2 nanoparticles can be used as efficient adsorption materials for removing heavy metal ions from water, although there are differences in adsorption capacity between them, which expands the theoretical basis of heavy metal adsorption in a water environment.

Abstract
A special type of two-dimensional (2D) material based conducting polymer was constructed by green synthesis and in-situ polymerization techniques. The 2D Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) were first synthesized with the combination of, ammonium tetrathiomolybdate dissolved in 20 mL algae extract under stirring. After stirring for about 2 h, and then finally sulfurization was initiated using sulfur powder in 20 mL of sulfuric solution and stirred for 8 h. The resulting black precipitates of MoS2 were collected by centrifugation at 5000 rpm. Moreover, the prepared MoS2 was functionalized with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and form the MoS2@PGMA. Further, the MoS2@PGMA is combined with polyaniline (PANI) to form conducting polymer grafted thin film nanosheets named MoS2@PGMA/PANI with a thickness in micrometer size through grafting method. The prepared materials were characterized by SEM, FTIR, XRD, XPS and EDX techniques. To check the performance of materials the adsorption study was performed. Moreover, the adsorption study toward Cu2+ and Cd2+ showed a tremendous results and the maximum adsorption was 307.7 mg/g and 214.7 mg/g respectively. In addition, the pseudo-first and second order models as well as the adsorption isotherm were investigated using the Langmuir and Freundlich model. The results were best fitted with the pseudo-second order and Langmuir models. The regeneration study was also conducted and MoS2@PGMA/PANI nanosheets can be easily recycled and restored after five successful recycling. The established methodology for preparing the 2D materials and conducting polymer based MoS2@PGMA/PANI nanosheets is expected to be applicable for other multiple applications.

Abstract
One of the crucial challenges of our time is to effectively use metal and metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) as an alternative way to combat drug-resistant infections. Metal and metal oxide NPs such as Ag, Ag2O, Cu, Cu2O, CuO, and ZnO have found their way against antimicrobial resistance. However, they also suffer from several limitations ranging from toxicity issues to resistance mechanisms by complex structures of bacterial communities, so-called biofilms. In this regard, scientists are urgently looking for convenient approaches to develop heterostructure synergistic nanocomposites which could overcome toxicity issues, enhance antimicrobial activity, improve thermal and mechanical stability, and increase shelf life. These nanocomposites provide a controlled release of bioactive substances into the surrounding medium, are cost effective, reproducible, and scalable for real life applications such as food additives, nanoantimicrobial coating in food technology, food preservation, optical limiters, the bio medical field, and wastewater treatment application. Naturally abundant and non-toxic Montmorillonite (MMT) is a novel support to accommodate NPs, due to its negative surface charge and control release of NPs and ions. At the time of this review, around 250 articles have been published focusing on the incorporation of Ag-, Cu-, and ZnO-based NPs into MMT support and thus furthering their introduction into polymer matrix composites dominantly used for antimicrobial application. Therefore, it is highly relevant to report a comprehensive review of Ag-, Cu-, and ZnO-modified MMT. This review provides a comprehensive overview of MMT-based nanoantimicrobials, particularly dealing with preparation methods, materials characterization, and mechanisms of action, antimicrobial activity on different bacterial strains, real life applications, and environmental and toxicity issues.

Abstract
The commonly used two-step and one-pot synthesis methods for producing biochar require the use of iron salt solutions, resulting in the undesirable consequences of energy consumption for dewatering and potential pollution risks. To address this drawback, a magnetic sewage sludge-derived biochar (MSBC-2) was synthesized by a solvent-free method in this study. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir model provided the best fit to the experimental data, implying a monolayered chemisorption process of Pb2+, Cd2+and Cu2+ onto MSBC-2. As the reaction temperature increased from 25 °C to 45 °C, the maximum adsorption capacities increased from 113.64 mg·g−1 to 151.52 mg·g−1 for Pb2+, from 101.01 mg·g−1 to 109.89 mg·g−1 for Cd2+ and from 57.80 mg·g−1 to 74.07 mg·g−1 for Cu2+, respectively. Thermodynamic parameters (ΔG0 < 0, ΔS0 > 0, ΔH0 > 0) revealed that the adsorption processes of all three metals by MSBC-2 were favourable, spontaneous and endothermic. Surface complexation, cation-π interaction, ion exchange and electrostatic attraction mechanisms were involved in the adsorption of Pb2+, Cd2+ and Cu2+ onto MSBC-2. Overall, this study will provide a new perspective for the synthesis of magnetic biochar and MSBC-2 shows great potential as an adsorbent for heavy metal removal.

Abstract
A multifunctional microspheric soil conditioner based on chitosan-grafted poly(acrylamide-co-acrylic acid)/biochar [CS-g-P(AM-co-AA)/BC] was prepared. First, the P(AM-co-AA) was synthesized and successfully grafted onto CS, and the three-dimensional network structure of microspheres was formed with N,N-methylenebis(acrylamide) as the cross-linking agent according to the inverse suspension polymerization method. Meanwhile, BC and urea were encapsulated into the body of microspheres during the polymerization. The structure of the microspheres was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, polarized optical microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy, and the mechanism of adsorption of Cu2+ on the microspheres was investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Furthermore, the experimental results demonstrated the excellent water absorption and retention capabilities of microspheres, and the release rate of urea was dramatically reduced. Importantly, the introduction of BC significantly enhanced the adsorption performance of the microspheres with respect to heavy metal ions. Consequently, the multifunctional soil conditioner held promise for use in soil improvement and agricultural production.

Abstract
In this work, attapulgite (ATP)-based dual sensitive poly (N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid) composite hydrogel, P(NIPAM-co-AA)/ATP, was prepared by free radical polymerization. The prepared composite hydrogel was characterized via methods of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), zeta potential analysis and Brunauer, Emmett, and Teller (BET) etc. The composite hydrogel showed pH and temperature sensitive behaviour, with lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of 35°C and highest swelling occurred at pH 8.0. The adsorption of methyl violet (MV) can be controlled by the hydrogel responsiveness, and 95.78% of MV can be removed at pH 8.0 and 35°C. The addition of a small amount of ATP (3 Wt%) can improve the swelling ratio and adsorption capacity. Kinetic analysis demonstrated that the experimental data were best fitted to the pseudo-second order model. Isotherm analysis showed that the equilibrium data followed Langmuir model with the adsorption capacity of 168.35 mg g-1. In addition, the composite hydrogel has high adsorption selectivity for cationic dyes, and MV-loaded hydrogel is easy to regenerate, which can be used for successive adsorption cycles. These results demonstrate that the composite hydrogel has potential application in dye wastewater treatment.

Abstract
The decomposition of water pollutants including industrial dyes and chemicals via photocatalytic decontamination is one of the major investigated problems in recent years. Two-dimensional molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) layers have shown great promise as an efficient visible-light photocatalyst owing to its numerous active sites and large surface area. In this study, atomically thin MoS2 films of different thicknesses from monolayer to five-layer and ten layers were fabricated on sapphire substrates using chemical vapor deposition (CVD). We demonstrate that these MoS2 thin films can be used as a photocatalyst to degrade Methylene Blue (MB) dye and can be recovered completely with utmost structural and chemical stability. Under visible-light irradiation, the MB absorption peak completely disappears with ∼95.6% of degradation after 120 min. We also demonstrate the reusability of the MoS2 thin films without significantly losing the photocatalytic activity even after 5-cycles of degradation studies. The chemical and structural stability of the MoS2 films after 5-cycles of degradation studies were affirmed using various spectroscopic studies. Our findings suggest that the MB degradation efficiency increases from 19.01% to 98.46% with an increase in pH from 4 to 14. Our approach may facilitate a further design of other transition metal dichalcogenides-based recoverable photocatalysts for industrial applications.
