Abstract
Complexes of metal atoms with organic molecules represent a broad variety of systems with many important applications, e.g., in metal-organic interfaces and organometallic chemistry. One class involves aromatic species like benzene (Bz). Here, such complexes with second-group metals are investigated systematically in terms of structure and shape, stability and isomerization, charge distribution and aromaticity, and polarity and IR spectra. Three groups of isomers are identified, varying from metastable to stable ones, in effect featuring "physisorption" or "chemisorption". In particular, the high polarity of binary complexes and nonadditive stabilization of ternary systems for some isomers are found. Also, the Bz component's shape alteration for different isomers and system sizes and related aromaticity variations are predicted to be considerable. Property evolution for the series of metal components is analyzed.

Abstract
Numerous applications of graphene involve quasi-infinite sheets, as well as finite structures with edges, pores, graphene quantum dots, etc. In theoretical studies of adsorption of diverse chemical species, including single atoms, molecules, cations, and anions, graphene usually behaves as a very rigid planar structure. However, we found that when adsorbing lanthanide atoms, finite size structures, represented by the widely used supercoronene model, can undergo considerable distortion, and the degree of distortion depends on the number of unpaired electrons, reaching a maximum for Gd (eight unpaired electrons). Lanthanides closely approach the supercoronene surface and increase the interaction energy. Extrapolating to real-world systems, one can expect the existence and magnitude of lanthanide-induced distortion to depend on the size of graphene structures. Quasi-infinite or very large graphene sheets are too rigid to undergo such bending, but it becomes tangible for graphene quantum dots and for atom adsorption closer to graphene edges.

Abstract
The isotropic and anisotropic coefficients Cn l,m of the long-range spherical expansion ∼1/Rn (R-the intermolecular distance) of the dispersion and induction intermolecular energies are calculated using the first principles for the complexes containing an aromatic molecule (benzene, pyridine, furan, and pyrrole) and alkali-metal (Li, Na, K, Rb, and Cs) or alkaline-earth-metal (Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba) atoms in their electronic ground states. The values of the first- and second-order properties of the aromatic molecules are calculated using the response theory with the asymptotically corrected LPBE0 functional. The second-order properties of the closed-shell alkaline-earth-metal atoms are obtained using the expectation-value coupled cluster theory and of the open-shell alkali-metal atoms using analytical wavefunctions. These properties are used for the calculation of the dispersion Cn,disp l,m and induction Cn,ind l,m coefficients (Cn l,m=Cn,disp l,m+Cn,ind l,m) with n up to 12 using the available implemented analytical formulas. It is shown that the inclusion of the coefficients with n > 6 is important for reproducing the interaction energy in the van der Waals region at R ≈ 6 Å. The reported long-range potentials should be useful for constructing the analytical potentials valid for the whole intermolecular interaction range, which are needed for spectroscopic and scattering studies.

Abstract
We investigated the possible use of a hexa-cata-hexabenzocoronene nanographene (HCHN) as an anode material for Mg-ion batteries (MIBs) implementing the B3LYP-gCP-D3/6-31G* scheme. The Mg cation or atom is adsorbed on the HCHN with the adsorption energy of - 200.3 or - 4.7 kcal/mol. The energy barrier related to transferring Mg cation on the HCHN surface was calculated to be 7.5 kcal/mol, producing the diffusion coefficient of 1.90 × 10-8 cm2/s. It shows that the ion mobility is high and the rate of charge or discharge is fast. The calculated specific storage capacity of HCHN is 589.4 mAh/g and the great cell voltage is 4.23 V that is generated by the interaction of cation-π between Mg2+ and HCHN, which is strong. The HCHN is considered an ideal candidate to be used as an anode material in MIBs since its storage capacity and ion mobility are high, and it has a large cell voltage.

Abstract
We consider collisional properties of polyatomic aromatic hydrocarbon molecules immersed into ultracold atomic gases and investigate intermolecular interactions of exemplary benzene, naphthalene, and azulene with alkali-metal (Li, Na, K, Rb, and Cs) and alkaline-earth-metal (Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba) atoms. We apply the state-of-the-art ab initio techniques to compute the potential energy surfaces (PESs). We use the coupled cluster method restricted to single, double, and noniterative triple excitations to reproduce the correlation energy and the small-core energy-consistent pseudopotentials to model the scalar relativistic effects in heavier metal atoms. We also report the leading long-range isotropic and anisotropic dispersion and induction interaction coefficients. The PESs are characterized in detail, and the nature of intermolecular interactions is analyzed and benchmarked using symmetry-adapted perturbation theory. The full three-dimensional PESs are provided for the selected systems within the atom-bond pairwise additive representation and can be employed in scattering calculations. The present study of the electronic structure is the first step toward the evaluation of prospects for sympathetic cooling of polyatomic aromatic molecules with ultracold atoms. We suggest azulene, an isomer of naphthalene which possesses a significant permanent electric dipole moment and optical transitions in the visible range, as a promising candidate for electric field manipulation and buffer-gas or sympathetic cooling.

Abstract
The performances of Møller-Plesset second-order perturbation theory (MP2) and density functional theory (DFT) have been assessed for the purposes of investigating the interaction between stannylenes and aromatic molecules. The complexes between SnX2 (where X = H, F, Cl, Br, and I) and benzene or pyridine are considered. Structural and energetic properties of such complexes are calculated using six MP2-type and 14 DFT methods. The assessment of the above-mentioned methods is based on the comparison of the structures and interaction energies predicted by these methods with reference computational data. A very detailed analysis of the performances of the MP2-type and DFT methods is carried out for two complexes, namely SnH2-benzene and SnH2-pyridine. Of the MP2-type methods, the reference structure of SnH2-benzene is reproduced best by SOS-MP2, whereas SCS-MP2 is capable of mimicking the reference structure of SnH2-pyridine with the greatest accuracy. The latter method performs best in predicting the interaction energy between SnH2 and benzene or pyridine. Among the DFT methods, ωB97X provides the structures and interaction energies of the SnH2-benzene and SnH2-pyridine complexes with good accuracy. However, this density functional is not as effective in reproducing the reference data for the two complexes as the best performing MP2-type methods. Next, the DFT methods are evaluated using the full test set of SnX2-benzene and SnX2-pyridine complexes. It is found that the range-separated hybrid or dispersion-corrected density functionals should be used for describing the interaction in such complexes with reasonable accuracy.
