Abstract
Ascorbic acid (AA) plays an important role in many life processes. The chronic nutritional deficiency of AA will lead to the symptoms of scurvy. Therefore, the sensitive quantitative detection of AA is most important in the pharmaceutical analysis, food industry and diagnostic application. In this study, a dual-functional magnetic metal-organic frameworks (Fe3O4@SiO2@UiO-PBA) nanoparticles was synthesized by modifying phenylboronic acid to the surface of magnetic UiO-66-NH2 via postsynthetic modification for selectively and sensitively florescent detection of AA. Due to the abundant amino groups and grafted phenylboronic acid, the proposed nanoparticles have the dual properties of hydrophilicity and boronate affinity. Under optimum conditions, the obtained Fe3O4@SiO2@UiO-PBA nanoparticles can detect AA within 30 s, and has a good linear relationship with the concentration of AA in the range of 5.0-60 μM with a detection limit of 2.5 μM (S/N = 3). In addition, the prepared Fe3O4@SiO2@UiO-PBA nanoparticles showed excellent selectivity and great potential application in the highly efficient determination of trace AA in vitamin C tablets. These results indicated that a convenient method was proposed to develop fluorescent probes for rapid and sensitive detection of trace AA in real samples.

Abstract
Ascorbic acid is a water-soluble vitamin common in food and dietary supplements. A usual problem with ascorbic acid analysis is the lack of stability of its samples and standard solutions owing to oxidation. A procedure to protect ascorbic acid from oxidation using mercaptoethanol is described in this study in connection with the comparison of three HPLC measuring methods. Two reversed-phase columns were evaluated for the separation. One technique uses UV detection, and two others use MS/MS detection. The methods were calibrated for quantitation on different ranges of concentrations. The LC-UV method covers the range 3.9 μg/ml to 500 μg/ml, one LC-MS/MS the range 80 ng/ml to 20 μg/ml, and the other 0.1 ng/ml to 20 μg/ml. As a proof of functionality all three methods were utilized for measuring vitamin C in energy drinks and chews (gummies). The sensitivity of LC-MS/MS methods was not necessary for the analysis of those samples, but the high sensitivity can be beneficial for other types of sample such as environmental or biological, where the levels of ascorbic acid are very low. The study showed that the formation of 2,3-diketogulonic acid is not a likely path for ascorbic acid oxidation following hydrolysis as reported in some studies.

Magnetic molecularly-imprinted microspheres with a core-shell structure for the extraction of catalpol from both Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch and biological samples. J Chromatogr A 2023; 1705:464183. Abstract
We report on the successful development of a magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MMIP) for the separation and detection of catalpol in Rehmannia glutinosa extract and biological samples. Catalpol was used as the template molecule for the MMIPs, which were synthesized using the reverse prediction approach and differential UV-visible spectra to optimize the synthesis conditions. The resulting MMIPs were characterized using techniques including scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometry, which confirmed their excellent nuclear shell construction and simple rapid magnetic separation. Static and dynamic adsorption experiments were performed to assess the sensitivity, repeatability, and adsorption capacity of the MMIPs. Adsorption capacity was found to be high (59.09 µg/mg). The MMIPs also exhibited strong identification specificity for catalpol analogs (IF = 2.41). Magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) was optimized to establish an MSPE-HPLC approach based on the MMIPs. Under ideal conditions, the new method showed excellent determination coefficient (R2 > 0.99) in the ranges of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL and 0.03-0.18 mg/mL for R. glutinosa extract and biological material, respectively, with limits of detection of 5.4 ng/mL and 1.7 ng/mL. The novelty of this research lies in the preparation of magnetic surface MMIPs using a magnetic carrier. These MMIPs exhibit excellent magnetic properties and possess specific adsorption capability for catalpol, enabling rapid separation. They offer advantages such as low cost, high specificity, chemical stability, physical robustness, and recyclability (97.09%-106.53%, 91.32%-100.99%). The application of these polymers in the pretreatment method for determining the catalpol content in R. glutinosa extract and biological samples enhances the extraction efficiency and detection accuracy for catalpol. It eliminates interference and influences from other components in catalpol determination while exhibiting high sensitivity, good enrichment effects, excellent reusability, and a high recovery rate.

Abstract
Epitope molecularly imprinted polymers (EMIPs) are novel imprinted materials using short characteristic peptides as templates rather than entire proteins. To be specific, the amino acid sequence of the template peptide is the same as an exposed N- or C-terminus of a target protein, or its amino acid composition and sequence replicate a similar conformational arrangement as the same amino acid residues on the surface of the target protein. EMIPs have a good application prospect in protein research. Herein, we focus on classification of epitope imprinting techniques, methods of epitope immobilization on matrix materials including boronate affinity immobilization, covalent bonding immobilization, physical adsorption immobilization and metal ion chelation immobilization, and application of EMIPs in peptides, proteins, target imaging and target therapy fields. Finally, the main problems and future development are summarized.

Abstract
Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) has been known as an antioxidant for most people. However, its physiological role is much larger and encompasses very different processes ranging from facilitation of iron absorption through involvement in hormones and carnitine synthesis for important roles in epigenetic processes. Contrarily, high doses act as a pro-oxidant than an anti-oxidant. This may also be the reason why plasma levels are meticulously regulated on the level of absorption and excretion in the kidney. Interestingly, most cells contain vitamin C in millimolar concentrations, which is much higher than its plasma concentrations, and compared to other vitamins. The role of vitamin C is well demonstrated by miscellaneous symptoms of its absence—scurvy. The only clinically well-documented indication for vitamin C is scurvy. The effects of vitamin C administration on cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and infections are rather minor or even debatable in the general population. Vitamin C is relatively safe, but caution should be given to the administration of high doses, which can cause overt side effects in some susceptible patients (e.g., oxalate renal stones). Lastly, analytical methods for its determination with advantages and pitfalls are also discussed in this review.

Abstract
Catalytic and electrocatalytic applications of supported metal nanoparticles are hindered due to an aggregation of metal nanoparticles and catalytic leaching under harsh operations. Hence, stable and leaching free catalysts with high surface area are extremely desirable but also challenging. Here we report a gold nanoparticles-hosted mesoporous nitrogen doped carbon matrix, which is prepared using bovine serum albumin (BSA) through calcination. BSA plays three roles in this process as a reducing agent, capping agent and carbon precursor, hence the protocol exhibits economic and sustainable. Gold nanoparticles at N-doped BSA carbon (AuNPs@NBSAC)-modified three-electrode strip-based flexible sensor system has been developed, which displayed effective, sensitive and selective for simultaneous detection of uric acid (UA) and dopamine (DA). The AuNPs@NBSAC-modified sensor showed an excellent response toward DA with a linear response throughout the concentration range from 1 to 50 μM and a detection limit of 0.05 μM. It also exhibited an excellent response toward UA, with a wide detection range from 5 to 200 μM as well as a detection limit of 0.1 μM. The findings suggest that the AuNPs@NBSAC nanohybrid reveals promising applications and can be considered as potential electrode materials for development of electrochemical biosensors.

Abstract
As signal molecules, auxins play an important role in mediating plant growth. Due to serious interfering substances in plants, it is difficult to accurately detect auxins with traditional solid-phase extraction methods. To improve the selectivity of sample pretreatment, a novel molecularly imprinted polymer -coated solid-phase microextraction fiber, which could be coupled directly to high-performance liquid chromatography, was prepared with indole acetic acid as template molecule for the selective extraction of auxins. The factors influencing the polymer formation, such as polymerization solvent, cross-linker, and polymerization time, were investigated in detail to enhance the performance of indole acetic acid-molecularly imprinted polymer coating. The morphological and chemical stability of this molecularly imprinted polymer-coated fiber was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectrometry, and thermal analysis. The extraction capacity of the molecularly imprinted polymer-coated solid-phase microextraction fiber was evaluated for the selective extraction of indole acetic acid and indole-3-pyruvic acid followed by high-performance liquid chromatography analysis. The linear range for indole acetic acid and indole-3-pyruvic acid was 1-100 µg/L and their detection limit was 0.5 µg/L. The method was applied to the simultaneous determination of two auxins in two kinds of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L and Nicotiana rustica L) samples, with recoveries range from 82.1 to 120.6%.

Abstract
Arrays of molybdenum(IV) disulfide nanosheets resembling the shape of golf balls (MoS2 NSBs) were deposited on carbon nanofibers (CNFs), which are shown to enable superior electrochemical detection of dopamine without any interference by uric acid. The MoS2 NSBs have a diameter of ∼ 2 μm and are made up of numerous bent nanosheets. MoS2 NSBs are connected by the CNFs through the center of the balls. Figures of merit for the resulting electrode include (a) a sensitivity of 6.24 μA·μM-1·cm-2, (b) a low working voltage (+0.17 V vs. Ag/AgCl), and (c) a low limit of detection (36 nM at S/N = 3). The electrode is selective over uric acid, reproducible and stable. It was applied to the determination of dopamine in spiked urine samples. The recoveries at levels of 10, 20 and 40 μM of DA are 101.6, 99.8 and 107.8%. Graphical abstract Schematic presentation of the golf ball-like MoS2 nanosheet balls/carbon nanofibers (MoS2 NSB/CNFs) by electrospining and hydrothermal process to detect dopamine (DA).

Abstract
Herein, we present a survey of the literature covering the development of molecular imprinting science and technology over the years 2004-2011. In total, 3779 references to the original papers, reviews, edited volumes and monographs from this period are included, along with recently identified uncited materials from prior to 2004, which were omitted in the first instalment of this series covering the years 1930-2003. In the presentation of the assembled references, a section presenting reviews and monographs covering the area is followed by sections describing fundamental aspects of molecular imprinting including the development of novel polymer formats. Thereafter, literature describing efforts to apply these polymeric materials to a range of application areas is presented. Current trends and areas of rapid development are discussed.

Abstract
Plants have developed various mechanisms to protect themselves against oxidative stress. One of the most important non-enzymatic antioxidants is ascorbic acid. There is thus a need for a rapid, sensitive method for the analysis of the reduced and oxidised forms of ascorbic acid in crop plants. In this paper a simple, economic, selective, precise and stable HPLC method is presented for the detection of ascorbate in plant tissue. The sensitivity, the short retention time and the simple isocratic elution mean that the method is suitable for the routine quantification of ascorbate in a high daily sample number. The method has been found to be better than previously reported methods, because of the use of an economical, readily available mobile phase, UV detection and the lack of complicated extraction procedures. The method has been tested on Arabidopsis plants with different ascorbate levels and on wheat plants during Cd stress.

Abstract
Sample preparation has historically been, and continues to be, the most challenging part of the bioanalytical workflow. Several techniques have been developed over the years to deal with the problems of recovery and matrix effects in an effort to increase the reliability and robustness of the bioanalytical method. In recent years certain techniques have come into prominence and gained acceptance in routine sample preparation, and some have shown promise in their use in a discovery environment where speed is critical and method development time is often limited. The aim of this review is to examine several of these techniques and provide examples of their use from the literature, as well as comment on their utility in current workflows.
