Abstract
Polydiacetylenes (PDAs) are conjugated polymers that have been widely exploited for their chromogenic and fluorogenic transitions upon exposure to external stimuli and biomolecules of interest. Herein, we propose a comparative study of the polymerization dynamics of two diacetylene derivatives, TzDA1 and TzDA2, in the form of aggregates in suspension prepared by reprecipitation method from organic solvents in water, varying the diacetylene concentration and solvent proportions, and sonication in water, varying the time and temperature. Both derivatives bear a tetrazine fluorophore, which serves both to increase the fluorescence quantum yield of the system and to track the polymerization by fluorescence quenching exclusively by the blue-PDA, and differ by the chain termination. It was shown that adding a butyl ester function in TzDA2 to a simple urethane (TzDA1) influences the polymerizability and kinetics of polymerization of the aggregates in suspension. In addition, we showed that also the preparation method and preparation conditions do have an influence on the polymerization dynamics, suggesting that a careful study of these properties should be carried out before investigating the applications of such objects.

Abstract
This work reports a modification of a fibrous cellulose material (paper) by the addition of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibres doped with 10,12–pentacosadiynoic acid (PDA). The fibres are sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light. When the paper containing PAN–PDA is irradiated with UV light it changes colour to blue as a consequence of interaction of the light with PDA. The colour intensity is related to the absorbed dose, content of PAN–PDA fibres in the paper and the wavelength of UV radiation. The features of the paper are summarised after reflectance spectrophotometry and scanning microscopy analyses. All the properties of the modified paper were tested in accordance with adequate ISO standards. Moreover, a unique method for assessing the unevenness of the paper surface and the quality of printing was proposed by using a Python script (RGBreader) for the analysis of RGB colour channels. The modification applied to the paper can serve as a paper security system. The modified paper can act also as a UV radiation indicator.

Abstract
Wide-dose-range 2D radiochromic films for radiotherapy, such as GAFchromic EBT, are based on the lithium salt of 10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid (Li-PCDA) as the photosensitive component. We show that there are two solid forms of Li-PCDA-a monohydrated form A and an anhydrous form B. The form used in commercial GAFchromic films is form A due to its short needle-shaped crystals, which provide favorable coating properties. Form B provides an enhanced photoresponse compared to that of form A, but adopts a long needle crystal morphology, which is difficult to process. The two forms were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, CP-MAS 13C solid-state NMR spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. In sum, these data suggest a chelating bridging bidentate coordination mode for the lithium ions. The sodium salt of PCDA (Na-PCDA) is also reported, which is an ionic cocrystal with a formula of Na+PCDA-·3PCDA. The PCDA and PCDA- ligands display monodentate and bridging bidentate coordination to the sodium ion in contrast to the coordination sphere of the Li-PCDA forms. In contrast to its lithium analogues, Na-PCDA is photostable.

Abstract
Polydiacetylenes are a class of conjugated polymers exhibiting unique color and fluorescence properties and employed as useful sensing vehicles. Here we demonstrate for the first time that the dielectric properties of polydiacetylenes can be exploited for vapor sensing. Specifically, electrodes coated with polydiacetylenes, embedded within a porous polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) matrix, exhibit significant capacitance transformations upon exposure to different vapors. The capacitive response of the polydiacetylene/PVP films depended upon both the structures of the diacetylene monomer and the extent of ultraviolet irradiation (i.e., polymerization), underscoring a unique sensing mechanism affected by conjugation, structure, and dielectric properties of the polydiacetylene/polymer matrix. Importantly, the variability of polydiacetylene structures allows vapor identification through an array-based pattern recognition (i.e., artificial nose). This study opens new avenues for applications of polydiacetylene systems, particularly pointing to their dielectric properties as powerful sensing determinants.

Abstract
Thermal responsive polydiacetylene derived from PAMAM dendrimer (PDA-G0) was synthesized. Unlike the ethylenediamine substituted PDA (PDA-NH2) solution, the prepared PDA-G0 vesicle solution showed reversible thermochromism property when temperature varied from 20 to 90 °C, which is due to the formation of an internal hydrogen bond in amide groups. Furthermore, PDA-G0/PMMA film with excellent stability was obtained by a mixed-drying method, which could be stored for a long time without denaturation. After polymerization by UV irradiation, it displayed much better reversible thermochromic ability and the responded temperature range became wider, from 20 to 110 °C.
