Abstract
The fabrication of an adsorbent with excellent performance has been a focus of attention because of the toxicity, mutagenicity and carcinogenicity of methyl orange (MO)-containing wastewater discharged from the textile, tannery and pharmaceutical industries. In this study, chitosan (CS) membranes were modified with a deep eutectic supramolecular polymer (DESP), and adsorbent membranes with porous structures were prepared with polyethylene glycol (PEG). Microstructural characterization of the CS-DESP-PEG composite membranes with FT-IR, XRD and SEM showed that the membranes had amorphous crystalline structures and that hydrogen bonding interactions weakened the crystallinity and formed loose porous structures. Optimization of the chitosan to β-cyclodextrin ratio, pH, PEG proportion, MO concentration and adsorbent dose significantly improved the adsorption efficiencies of the membranes. The adsorption behaviours of the membranes were fit with pseudo-second-order adsorption kinetics and the Freundlich adsorption isotherm model. Regeneration experiments showed that the membranes were reusable multiple times and maintained good adsorption capacities.

Abstract
In the era of rapid and conspicuous progress of water treatment technologies, combined adsorption and membrane filtration systems have gained great attention as a novel and efficient method for contaminant removal from aqueous phase. Further development of these techniques for water/wastewater treatment applications will be promising for the recovery of water resources as well as reducing the water tension throughout the world. This review introduces the state-of-the-art on the capabilities of the combined adsorption-membrane filtration systems for water and wastewater treatment applications. Technical information including employed materials, superiorities, operational limitations, process sustainability and upgradeing strategies for two general configurations i.e. hybrid (pre-adsorption and post-adsorption) and integrated (film adsorbents, low pressure membrane-adsorption coupling and membrane-adsorption bioreactors) systems has been surveyed and presented. Having a systematic look at the fundamentals of hybridization/integration of the two well-established and efficient separation methods as well as spotlighting the current status and prospectives of the combination strategies, this work will be valuable to all the interested researchers working on design and development of cutting-edge wastewater/water treatment techniques. This review also draws a clear roadmap for either decision making and choosing the best alternative for a specific target in water treatment or making a plan for further enhancement and scale-up of an available strategy.

Abstract
With the rapid development of nanotechnology, electrospun nanofiber membranes (ENM) application and preparation methods have attracted attention. With many advantages such as high specific surface area, obvious interconnected structure, and high porosity, ENM has been widely used in many fields, especially in water treatment, with more advantages. ENM solves the shortcomings of traditional means, such as low efficiency, high energy consumption, and difficulty in recycling, and it is suitable for recycling and treatment of industrial wastewater. This review begins with a description of electrospinning technology, describing the structure, preparation methods, and factors of common ENMs. At the same time, the removal of heavy metal ions and dyes by ENMs is introduced. The mechanism of ENM adsorption on heavy metal ions and dyes is chelation or electrostatic attraction, which has excellent adsorption and filtration ability for heavy metal ions and dyes, and the adsorption capacity of ENMs for heavy metal ions and dyes can be improved by increasing the metal chelation sites. Therefore, this technology and mechanism can be exploited to develop new, better, and more effective separation methods for the removal of harmful pollutants to cope with the gradually increasing water scarcity and pollution. Finally, it is hoped that this review will provide some guidance and direction for research on wastewater treatment and industrial production.

Abstract
Recent findings of microplastics in marine food such as fish, crabs and shrimps necessitate the need to develop biodegradable packaging materials. This study reports on the development of a biodegradable packing material from cellulose nanofibril-polyvinyl alcohol nanocomposite embedded with silver nanoparticles. Microcrystalline cellulose was isolated from sugarcane bagasse via the kraft process followed by conversion of cellulose I to cellulose II using NaOH/urea/water solution. The nanofibrils were then isolated using (2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidin-1-yl) oxyl (TEMPO) and used as a reinforcing element in polyvinyl alcohol composite prepared through solvent casting. The tensile strength, water solubility, optical properties, water vapor permeability and wettability of the prepared films were then evaluated. The antimicrobial potency of the films was evaluated using the disc diffusion antimicrobial assay against selected microorganisms.

Abstract
Various emerging organic micropollutants, such as pharmaceuticals, have attracted the interest of the water industry during the last two decades due to their insufficient removal during conventional water and wastewater treatment methods and increasing demand for pharmaceuticals projected to climate change-related impacts and COVID-19, nanosorbents such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene oxides (GOs), and metallic organic frameworks (MOFs) have recently been extensively explored regarding their potential environmental applications. Due to their unique physicochemical features, the use of these nanoadsorbents for organic micropollutans in water and wastewater treatment processes has been a rapidly growing topic of research in recent literature. Adsorptive membranes, which include these nanosorbents, combine the benefits of adsorption with membrane separation, allowing for high flow rates and faster adsorption/desorption rates, and have received a lot of publicity in recent years. The most recent advances in the fabrication of adsorptive membranes (including homogeneous membranes, mixed matrix membranes, and composite membranes), as well as their basic principles and applications in water and wastewater treatment, are discussed in this review. This paper covers ten years, from 2011 to 2021, and examines over 100 published studies, highlighting that micropollutans can pose a serious threat to surface water environments and that adsorptive membranes are promising, particularly in the adsorption of trace substances with fast kinetics. Membrane fouling, on the other hand, should be given more attention in future studies due to the high costs and restricted reusability.

Abstract
In this study, porous electrospinning polyacrylonitrile nanofiber (PPAN) surface functionalization with amine groups is studied for methyl orange (MO) dye removal from aqueous solution. A series of adsorption experiments were carried out to investigate the influence of initial solution pH value, contact time, initial solution concentration, and adsorption temperature on the adsorption performance. The experimental results showed that the removal of MO on these PPAN-PEI and PPAN-TEPA nanofibrous mats was a pH-dependent process with the maximum adsorption capacity at the initial solution pH of 3, and that the PPAN-PEI and PPAN-TEPA nanofibrous mats could be regenerated successfully after 4 recycling processes. The adsorption equilibrium data were all fitted well to the Langmuir isotherm equation, with maximum adsorption capacity of 1414.52 mg g−1 and 1221.09 mg g−1 for PPAN-PEI and PPAN-TEPA, respectively. The kinetic study indicated that the adsorption of MO could be well fitted by the pseudo-second-order equation and Weber–Morris model. Thermodynamic parameters such as free energy, enthalpy, and entropy of adsorption of the MO were also evaluated, and the results showed that the adsorption was a spontaneous exothermic adsorption process. Amino functionalized porous polyacrylonitrile electrospun nanofibers were fabricated, which have good adsorption performance for MO in an acidic environment.![]()

Abstract
Water is needed for food processing facilities to carry out a number of tasks, including moving goods, washing, processing, and cleaning operations. This causes them to produce wastewater effluent, and they are typically undesirable since it contains a high volume of suspended solids, bacteria, dyestuffs, salts, oils, fats, chemical oxygen demand and biological oxygen demand. Therefore, treatment of food industry wastewater effluent is critical in improving process conditions, socio-economic benefits and our environmental. This short review summarizes the role of available membrane technologies that have been employed for food wastewater treatment and analyse their performance. Particularly, electrospun nanofiber membrane technology is revealed as an emerging membrane science and technology area producing materials of increasing performance and effectiveness in treating wastewater. This review reveals the challenges and perspectives that will assist in treating the food industry wastewater by developing novel membrane technologies.

Abstract
Abstract
The polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofiber membrane prepared by the electrospinning technology was used as the matrix, and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was introduced into it to synthesize the composite nanofiber membrane. Taking methylene blue as the object, the adsorption performance of nanofiber membranes for dyes in the aqueous solution was studied. The structure, morphology, and specific surface area of the nanofiber membrane were characterized using FTIR, SEM, BET, XRD, and EDS. Meantime, the adsorption equilibrium was also explored. After being modified by cyclodextrin, a large number of cavity structures and hydrophobic binding sites were provided for the nanofiber membrane, and the adsorption performance was significantly improved. The results showed that the maximum adsorption capacity of the PAN/β-CD blend nanofiber membrane (at 25℃) for methylene blue was 108.66 mg g−1. The effects of pH, adsorption time, ion concentration, and adsorbent dosage on the adsorption capacity were also investigated. In addition, by fitting with the adsorption model, the adsorption process was more complex with the quasi-secondary adsorption kinetics and Langmuir isotherm adsorption model.

Abstract
Electrospun polymer nanofibers (EPNFs) as one-dimensional nanostructures are characterized by a high surface area-to-volume ratio, high porosity, large number of adsorption sites and high adsorption capacity. These properties nominate them to be used as an effective adsorbent for the removal of water pollutants such as heavy metals, dyes and other pollutants. Organic dyes are considered one of the most hazardous water pollutants due to their toxic effects even at very low concentrations. To overcome this problem, the adsorption technique has proven its high effectiveness towards the removal of such pollutants from aqueous systems. The use of the adsorption technique depends mainly on the properties, efficacy, cost and reusability of the adsorbent. So, the use of EPNFs as adsorbents for dye removal has received increasing attention due to their unique properties, adsorption efficiency and reusability. Moreover, the adsorption efficiency and stability of EPNFs in aqueous media can be improved via their surface modification. This review provides a relevant literature survey over the last two decades on the fabrication and surface modification of EPNFs by an electrospinning technique and their use of adsorbents for the removal of various toxic dyes from contaminated water. Factors affecting the adsorption capacity of EPNFs, the best adsorption conditions and adsorption mechanism of dyes onto the surface of various types of modified EPNFs are also discussed. Finally, the adsorption capacity, isotherm and kinetic models for describing the adsorption of dyes using modified and composite EPNFs are discussed.

Abstract
We developed a synthetic strategy to form cyclodextrin-based intrananogap particles (CIPs) with a well-defined ∼1 nm interior gap in a high yield (∼97%), and were able to incorporate 10 different Raman dyes inside the gap using the cyclodextrin-based host-guest chemistry, leading to strong, reproducible, and highly multiplexable surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signals. The average SERS enhancement factor (EF) for CIPs was 3.0 × 109 with a very narrow distribution of the EFs that range from 9.5 × 108 to 9.5 × 109 for ∼95% of the measured particles. Remarkably, 10 different Raman dyes can be loaded within the nanogap of CIPs, and 6 different Raman dye-loaded CIPs with little spectral overlaps were distinctly detected for cancer cell imaging applications with a single excitation source. Our synthetic strategy provides new platforms in precisely forming plasmonic nanogap structures with all key features for widespread use of SERS including strong signal intensity, reliability in quantification of signal and multiplexing capability.

Abstract
β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) is an oligosaccharide composed of seven units of D-(+)-glucopyranose joined by α-1,4 bonds, which is obtained from starch. Its singular trunk conical shape organization, with a well-defined cavity, provides an adequate environment for several types of molecules to be included. Complexation changes the properties of the guest molecules and can increase their stability and bioavailability, protecting against degradation, and reducing their volatility. Thanks to its versatility, biocompatibility, and biodegradability, β-CD is widespread in many research and industrial applications. In this review, we summarize the role of β-CD and its derivatives in the textile industry. First, we present some general physicochemical characteristics, followed by its application in the areas of dyeing, finishing, and wastewater treatment. The review covers the role of β-CD as an auxiliary agent in dyeing, and as a matrix for dye adsorption until chemical modifications are applied as a finishing agent. Finally, new perspectives about its use in textiles, such as in smart materials for microbial control, are presented.

Abstract
The environment is at the heart of global worldwide discussion. This study describes the synthesis of ecofriendly polymers by a crosslinking reaction between β-cyclodextrin as the monomer and polyethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (PEDGE) as well as ethylene diglycidyl ether (EDGE) as the crosslinking agents. The studied polymers were characterized by several techniques, such as SEM, FTIR, TGA-TDA and XRD. Their adsorption properties for methylene blue under various conditions of pH, contact time and initial concentration of dye were assessed in order to find the optimal conditions. The results indicate that the polymers are good nominates for methylene blue adsorption with adsorption capacities up to 15 mg/g. The adsorption mechanism was demonstrated to follow the Langmuir model. Finally, the regeneration of the polymers was investigated using Soxhlet extraction with ethanol. The absorption capacities of the adsorbent were stable after three cycles.

Abstract
The present study was designed to produce novel cross-linked Chitosan and Chitosan/β-Cyclodextrin beads and study the adsorption of Indigo Carmine. Both adsorbents were characterized by SEM and FTIR techniques. Batch experiments were conducted in order to evaluate the effect of initial adsorbent's concentration, dye's initial concentration, initial pH and temperature. In all cases Chitosan/β-Cyclodextrin crosslinked beads exhibited higher removal efficiency of Indigo Carmine. Higher removal rates of Indigo Carmine were observed at low values of dye's initial concentration, pH and temperature, and high concentrations of adsorbent. The equilibrium adsorption data were a good fit for both Langmuir and Freundlich models and maximum adsorption capacity was 500.0 and 1000.0 mgIC/gadsorbent for Chitosan and Chitosan/β-Cyclodextrin crosslinked beads, respectively. Adsorption of Indigo Carmine was found to follow the pseudo-second order. The negative values of ΔGo, ΔHo and ΔSo indicate that the adsorption process is exothermic, spontaneous and favorable at low temperatures.

Abstract
Developing wound dressing that inhibits bacterial infection for treating complex wound healing processes has been a research hotspot. Here, we report the fabrication of Cu-MOFs (HKUST-1) incorporated electrospun chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol (HKUST-1/chitosan/PVA) fibers through the blending electrospinning for wound therapy. HKUST-1/chitosan/PVA fibers displayed satisfying physical properties, such as mechanical property, water uptake, water vapor transmission rate, etc. Cytotoxicity test indicated that HKUST-1/chitosan/PVA fibers were biocompatible and could support cell adhesion. Due to the HKUST-1 incorporation, HKUST-1/chitosan/PVA fibers exhibited the good antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus with 99% antibacterial efficiency. Furthermore, in animal studies, compared with commercial chitosan dressings and chitosan/PVA fibers, HKUST-1/chitosan/PVA fibers were more efficient to heal the wound with less inflammation. In summary, the HKUST-1/chitosan/PVA fibers with good physicochemical property, biocompatibility and antibacterial property is an excellent wound dressing for full-thickness skin repair.

Abstract
Uniquely amphoteric soy protein (SP)-rich ultra-fine fibers (231 nm average diameter) have been facilely electrospun from aq. colloids and rendered water-insoluble by heating (150 °C, 12 h) to be highly stable over 14 d (pH 7) as well as under extremely acidic to basic (pH 0-10, 2 d) or at boil (2 h) conditions. The SP-rich fibrous membranes are easily tuned to be charged either negatively by deprotonation above or positively by protonation below the 4.5 PI of SPs. This pH-responsive amphoterism has been demonstrated for rapid adsorption of either cationic or anionic dyes, selective adsorption of either dye from their mixtures, and repetitive adsorption/desorption to recover and reuse both dyes and membranes. Chemisorption and heterogeneous adsorption of ionic dyes was confirmed by close fitting to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R 2 = 0.9977-0.9999) and Freundlich adsorption isotherm (R 2 = 0.9879). This is the first report of water-resilient and pH-robust ultrafine fibrous membranes fabricated from aqueous colloids of neat globular SPs, the major byproducts of under-utilized edible oil and biodiesel. The natural polyampholyte origin, amphoterism, and green processing make these fibrous materials unique and versatile for many potential applications involving both anionic and cationic species.

Abstract
In the present study, a simple, fast, and economical method was introduced to eliminate methylene blue from dye wastewater water using a non-toxic, inexpensive, stable, and efficient adsorbent. The poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/starch hydrogel nanofiber membrane with high surface area and the three-dimensional structure was fabricated in water via electrospinning strategy, and the cross-linking reaction was done by thermal treatment. The characterization of the nanofibers was carried out using Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and the cross-linked PVA/starch nanofiber was applied as a membrane for the removal of methylene blue (MB). The recovery of MB was performed by methanol solution containing 5% (v/v) HCl. Langmuir isotherm model successfully described the adsorption of MB on nanosorbent, and the maximum adsorption capacity (qm) was 400 mg g-1. Also, the kinetic of adsorption was well fitted by the pseudo-second-order model. In this study, because of the high stability of fabricated membrane (based on the tensile testing), it can be used as a filter for the fast separation of MB (cationic dye) and methyl orange (MO, anionic dye). Compared with the β-CD polymerization method reported in the literature,_ENREF_1 the synthetic route is effective and simple, thereby overcoming the harsh conditions that require nitrogen protection and always maintain anhydrous and oxygen-free. Moreover, the immobilization of β-CD on magnetic nanoparticles is combined with the cross-linking polymerization of the cross-linker, leading to a good synergistic effect on the removal of contaminants. Meanwhile, the dispersibility of the magnetic carrier enhances the dispersion of the β-CD porous polymer in the aqueous phase, and improves the inclusion adsorption performance and the adsorption process. P-MCD exhibited superior adsorption capacity and fast kinetics to MB. The maximum adsorption capacity of MB for P-MCD was 305.8 mg g -1, which is more than β-CD modified Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@β-CD). Moreover, the material had a short equilibrium time (5 min) for MB, high recovery and good recyclability (the adsorption efficiency was still above 86% after five repeated uses).

Abstract
The fabrication of electrospun nanofibers comprising cucurbit[7]uril (CB[7]) and poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) is reported. Various techniques such as SEM, FTIR, XRD, DSC and TG were utilized to characterize the morphology, composition and properties of the nanofibers. Uniform bead-free electrospun nanofibers were obtained from PCL/CB[7] mixed solutions and the average fiber diameter of the nanofibers increases with the increase of CB[7] content. The nanofibers are composed of a physical mixture of PCL and CB[7], and CB[7] itself is present in the PCL fiber matrix in an uncomplexed state. The static adsorption behavior of the PCL/CB[7] nanofibers towards methylene blue (MB) was also preliminary investigated. The results indicate that the adsorption of MB onto the nanofibrous membranes fits the second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm model.

Abstract
In this study, the novel adsorbent PVA-TA-βCD was synthesized via thermal cross-linking between polyvinyl alcohol and β-cyclodextrin. The characterization methods SEM-EDS, FTIR, and XPS were adopted to characterize the adsorbent. The effect of pH, contact time, initial concentrations, and temperature during the adsorption of Pb(II), Cd(II), and Mn(II) onto the PVA-TA-βCD was also investigated. In a single-component system, the data fitted well to pseudo-second-order, and film diffusion and intra-particle diffusion both played important roles in the adsorption process. As for isotherm study, it showed a heterogeneous adsorption capacity of 199.11, 116.52, and 90.28 mg g-1 for the Pb(II), Cd(II), and Mn(II), respectively. Competition between the ions existed in a multi-component system; however, owing to the stronger affinity of the PVA-TA-βCD for Pb(II) relative to Cd(II) and Mn(II), the Pb(II) adsorption onto the PVA-TA-βCD was less affected by the addition of the other metals, which could be effectively explained by the hard and soft acid and base theory (HSAB). Furthermore, PVA-TA-βCD showed good reusability throughout regeneration experiments.

Abstract
Novel β-cyclodextrin modified fibers with highly insoluble infraction and temperature enhanced adsorption performance were fabricated via electrospinning technology and followed thermo-crosslinking. The fabricated fibers were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, TGA and SEM. In the fibers, β-CD was crosslinked with methacrylic acid (MAA) units to maintain morphologies of fibers and further be utilized for the adsorption of Crystal Violet through complex and electrostatic interaction. In particular, N-isopropyl acrylamide (NIPAM) units were introduced to create thermo-responsively hydrophobic internal cavity within the swelling fibers at high temperatures. Benefiting from that, the maximum adsorption amount could reach to 1253.78 mg g-1, enhanced by 20% than that at low temperatures. The adsorption data of the fibers fit well the pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir isotherm model. Moreover, the fibers could maintain high regeneration efficiency even after four adsorption-desorption cycles. These results indicated the practical application values of the β-cyclodextrin modified fibers in the dye wastewater treatment field.

Abstract
In this work, hybrid gliadin electrospun fibers containing inclusion complexes of ferulic acid (FA) with hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrins (FA/HP-β-CD-IC) were prepared as a strategy to increase the stability and solubility of the antioxidant FA. Inclusion complex formation between FA and HP-β-CD was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). After adjusting the electrospinning conditions, beaded-free fibers of gliadin incorporating FA/HP-β-CD-IC with average fiber diameters ranging from 269.91 ± 73.53 to 271.68 ± 72.76 nm were obtained. Control gliadin fibers containing free FA were also produced for comparison purposes. The incorporation of FA within the cyclodextrin molecules resulted in increased thermal stability of the antioxidant compound. Moreover, formation of the inclusion complexes also enhanced the FA photostability, as after exposing the electrospun fibers to UV light during 60 min, photodegradation of the compound was reduced in more than 30%. Moreover, a slower degradation rate was also observed when compared to the fibers containing the free FA. Results from the release into two food simulants (ethanol 10% and acetic acid 3%) and PBS also demonstrated that the formation of the inclusion complexes successfully resulted in improved solubility, as reflected from the faster and greater release of the compounds in the three assayed media. Moreover, in both types of hybrid fibers, the antioxidant capacity of FA was kept, thus confirming the suitability of electrospinning for the encapsulation of sensitive compounds, giving raise to nanostructures with potential as active packaging structures or delivery systems of use in pharmaceutical or biomedical applications.

Abstract
Considering the excellent thermo-mechanical properties, chemical stability and low cost of biodegradable aliphatic-aromatic copolyesters, they are an ideal matrix when functionalized for capturing pollutants in wastewater. In this work, biodegradable poly((butylene succinate-co-terephthalate)-co-serinol terephthalate) (PBSST) copolyesters with amino side group (-NH2) were first synthesized through copolymerization, followed by grafting carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin (CM-β-CD) into PBSST molecular chains via amidation reaction to prepare PBSST-g-β-CD. The corresponding nanofibrous membranes were then fabricated by electrospinning as adsorbents for efficiently removing cationic dye methyl blue (MB) from aqueous solutions. The adsorption performance of the nanofibrous membranes was fitted well with pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacity was 543.48 mg g-1 for MB along with a removal efficiency of 98% after five regeneration cycles, indicating the high adsorption capacity and good recyclability of nanofibrous membranes. The adsorbents possess features of high adsorption capacity, eco-friendliness and easy operation, and exhibit great potential for disposing of printing-dying wastewater.

Abstract
In this paper, environmentally friendly gelatin/β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) composite fiber adsorbents prepared by electrospinning were used for the removal of dyes from wastewater. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and a universal materials tester were employed to characterize the internal structures, surface morphologies and mechanical strength of the composite fiber adsorbents. Additionally, the fiber was evaluated as an adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution. The effects of the raw material ratio, pH, temperature, concentration and adsorption time were studied. The results show that the gelatin/β-CD composite fiber adsorbents possess excellent mechanical strength and high adsorption efficiency for MB. The adsorption equilibrium and adsorption kinetics are well-described by the Langmuir isotherm model and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, respectively. The theoretical maximum adsorption capacity is 47.4 mg·g-1. Additionally, after nine successive desorption-adsorption cycles, the removal rate is still over 70%. Moreover, the gelatin/β-CD composite fiber adsorbents exhibit excellent adsorption capability for basic fuchsin, gentian violet, brilliant blue R and malachite green dyes. Therefore, owing to the characteristics of degradability, low cost and high-efficiency, the gelatin/β-CD composite fiber can be used as an efficient adsorbent for the removal of dyes from wastewater.

Abstract
Tailoring the wetting properties of nanofibrous membranes and endowing them with expected wettability provides new ways in extending the application field of these materials. In this study, we first performed the in situ fabrication of poly(butylenes succinate-co-terephthalate) (PBST) composite nanofibrous membrane with cyclodextrin polymer (CDP) using a combination of electrospinning and heating processes. Then, the morphologies, crystallization and mechanical properties of the PBST composite membrane were investigated. It was found that the CDP was uniformly dispersed on the PBST nanofibers instead of merely covering the surface of the membrane. Moreover, the introduction of additives brought about a decreased crystallinity and tensile strength of the resultant membrane due to its restraining role in the crystallization of PBST. Furthermore, the wettability of the PBST composite membranes with various amounts of additives was explored and the evolution of water spread on top of the membranes was also recorded. The membrane became superhydrophilic from hydrophobic upon increasing the amount of additives and the water droplet could completely spread within 0.2 s, which was attributed to the enlarged roughness and increased contact area of CDP on the nanofibers. A comparison between the two fabrication methods used for PBST composite nanofibrous membranes is also presented and studies on the preparation and wetting properties may shed light on polymer composite membranes that exhibit potential application in more fields. We present a facile fabrication method for a PBST composite nanofibrous membrane with cyclodextrin polymer via electrospinning and heating processes. The membrane is superhydrophilic and water can completely spread on the surface within just 0.2 s.![]()
