Abstract
Two new water-soluble thiadiazole compounds are prepared and characterized with various techniques. These compounds, 5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole hydrochloride (1) and 5-amino-3-(N-propane-2-imine)-1,3,4-thiadiazole chloride salt (2) were synthesized via Mannich reaction, and characterized by microelemental analysis, and some spectroscopic means (FTIR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass), in addition to single-crystal X-ray diffraction for compound 2. DFT calculations were conducted to study their geometry optimization, vibrational spectra, MEP maps, and NBO analysis. In addition, TD-DFT calculations were performed to study their absorption spectra. The prepared compounds were tested against Jack beans urease enzyme (in vitro) to indicate their antiureolytic activity potency. The activity of the enzyme was measured under optimal conditions, before and after mixing with the prepared organic compounds. The results showed that both compounds have potentially inhibited the enzyme activity with respect to their IC50 values: 13.76 µM ± 0.15 for 1, and 18.81 µM ± 0.18 for 2. These values are even lower than that of thiourea (21.40 ± 0.21 µM) as a standard inhibitor. The inhibition activity of urease enzyme was confirmed by a Lineweaver-Burk plot. According to the kinetic parameters obtained from the Lineweaver-Burk plot, the inhibition of urease enzyme by compounds 1 and 2 seems to be non-competitive. Molecular docking studies of the prepared compounds 1 and 2 were performed in order to interpret the obtained biological results and to investigate their interactions with the urease enzyme active site. These studies reveal that compounds 1 and 2 are good candidates as inhibitors for urease enzyme. Moreover, compound 1 exhibits a higher promising inhibition activity.

Abstract
Extensive investigation on the molecular and electronic structure of 2-amino-5-trifluoromethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole in the ground state and in the first excited state has been performed. The energy barrier corresponding to the conversion between imino and amino tautomers has been calculated, which indicates the existence of amino tautomer in solid state for the title compound. The FT-Raman and FT-IR spectra were recorded and compared with theoretical vibrational wavenumbers, and a good coherence has been observed. The MESP map, dipole moment, polarizability, and hyperpolarizability have been calculated to comprehend the properties of the title molecule. High polarizability value estimation of the title compound may enhance its bioactivity. Natural bonding orbital analysis has been done on monomer and dimer to investigate the charge delocalization and strength of hydrogen bonding, respectively. Strong hydrogen bonding interaction energies of 17.09/17.49 kcal mol-1 have been calculated at the B3LYP/M06-2X functional. The UV-vis spectrum was recorded and related to the theoretical spectrum. The title compound was biologically examined for anticancer activity by studying the cytotoxic performance against two human cancer cell lines (A549 and HeLa) along with the molecular docking simulation. Both molecular docking and cytotoxic performance against cancer cell lines show positive outcomes, and the title compound appears to be a promising anticancer agent.

Abstract
We report a dissociative electron attachment study to 2-furoic acid (C5H4O3) isolated in a gas phase, which is a model molecule consisting of a carboxylic group and a furan ring. Dissociation of furan by low energy electrons is accessible only via electronic excited Feshbach resonances at energies of incident electrons above 5 eV. On the other hand, carboxylic acids are well-known to dissociate via attachment of electrons at subexcitation energies. Here we elucidate how the electron and proton transfer reactions induced by carboxylation influence stability of the furan ring. Overlap of the furan and carboxyl π orbitals results in transformation of the nondissociative π2 resonance of the furan ring to a dissociative resonance. The interpretation of hydrogen transfer reactions is supported by experimental studies of 3-methyl-2-furoic and 5-methyl-2-furoic acids (C6H6O3) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Abstract
In this work, FT-IR, FT-Raman, UV-Visible and NMR spectroscopies and density functional theory (DFT) calculations were employed to study the structural and vibrational properties of the labdane-type diterpene 13-epi-sclareol using the hybrid B3LYP method together with the 6-31G(∗) basis set. Three stable structures with minimum energy found on the potential energy curves (PES) were optimized, and the corresponding molecular electrostatic potentials, atomic charges, bond orders, stabilization energies and topological properties were computed at the same approximation level. The complete assignment of the bands observed in the vibrational spectrum of 13-epi-sclareol was performed taking into account the internal symmetry coordinates for the three structures using the scaled quantum mechanical force field (SQMFF) methodology at the same level of theory. In addition, the force constants were calculated and compared with those reported in the literature for similar compounds. The predicted vibrational spectrum and the calculated (1)H NMR and (13)C NMR chemical shifts are in good agreement with the corresponding experimental results. The theoretical UV-Vis spectra for the most stable structure of 13-epi-sclareol demonstrate a better correlation with the corresponding experimental spectrum. The study of the three conformers by means of the theory of atoms in molecules (AIM) revealed different H bond interactions and a strong dependence of the interactions on the distance between the involved atoms. Furthermore, the natural bond orbital (NBO) calculations showed the characteristics of the electronic delocalization for the two six-membered rings with chair conformations.

Abstract
In this work, molecular geometries and fundamental vibrational frequencies of 2-furanacetic acid (2FAA) and its hydrogen bonded dimer were investigated using DFT/B3LYP method with 6-311++G(d,p) as basis set. The FT-infrared and FT-Raman spectra of the 2FAA compound were recorded in the region 4000-400 cm(-1). The theoretical wavenumbers were scaled and compared with experimental FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra. Complete vibrational assignments and analysis of the fundamental modes of monomer and dimer structures were performed on the basis of the potential energy distribution (PED) calculations. A study on the electronic properties, such as excitation energies, oscillator strength, wavelengths, HOMO and LUMO energies, are performed by time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) approach. Molecular stability arising from hyperconjugative interactions and charge delocalization has been analyzed using Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) analysis. Topological parameters such an electron density and its Laplacian at bond critical points (BCP) of O-H and O⋯H contact bonds were analyzed in details with the help of the atoms in molecules (AIM) approach in order to study the intermolecular hydrogen bonding. The nonlinear optical properties of the title molecule have been investigated. Moreover, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) surface was plotted for predicting sites and relative reactivities towards electrophilic and nucleophilic attack. The nonlinear optical properties were reported and compared with that of the urea. The thermodynamic properties like heat capacity, entropy, and enthalpy have been calculated for the molecule at different temperatures.
