Abstract
AIMS This study aimed to characterize the influence of a cancer diagnosis on the use of preventive cardiovascular measures in patients with and without cardiovascular disease (CVD). METHODS AND RESULTS Data from the Behavioural Risk Factor Surveillance System Survey (spanning 2011-22) were used. Multivariable logistic regression models adjusted for potential confounders were applied to calculate average marginal effects (AME), the average difference in the probability of using a given therapy between patients with and without cancer. Outcomes of interest included the use of pharmacological therapies, physical activity, smoking cessation, and post-CVD rehabilitation. Among 5 012 721 respondents, 579 114 reported a history of CVD (coronary disease or stroke), and 842 221 reported a diagnosis of cancer. The association between cancer and the use of pharmacological therapies varied between those with vs. without CVD (P-value for interaction: <0.001). Among patients with CVD, a cancer diagnosis was associated with a lower use of blood pressure-lowering medications {AME: -1.46% [95% confidence interval (CI): -2.19% to -0.73%]}, lipid-lowering medications [AME: -2.34% (95% CI: -4.03% to -0.66%)], and aspirin [AME: -6.05% (95% CI: -8.88% to -3.23%)]. Among patients without CVD, there were no statistically significant differences between patients with and without cancer regarding pharmacological therapies. Additionally, cancer was associated with a significantly lower likelihood of engaging in physical activity in the overall cohort and in using post-CVD rehabilitation regimens, particularly post-stroke rehabilitation. CONCLUSION Preventive pharmacological agents are underutilized in those with cancer and concomitant CVD, and physical activity is underutilized in patients with cancer in those with or without CVD. LAY SUMMARY •This paper compared the use of preventive cardiovascular measures, both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical, in patients with and without cancer.•In patients with cardiovascular disease and cancer, there is a lower use of preventive cardiovascular medications compared with those with cardiovascular disease but without cancer. This includes a lower utilization of blood pressure-lowering medications, cholesterol-lowering medications, and aspirin.•Patients with cancer reported lower levels of exercise but higher levels of smoking cessation compared with those without cancer.

Abstract
Survivorship issues and treatment related toxicities have considerably increased in breast cancer patients following improved therapeutic options. Cardiotoxicity has been a major treatment related side effects in these patients. Despite this being a well-known entity, the real magnitude of the problem remains an enigma. The amount of research in mitigation of cardiotoxicity or its management in breast cancer survivors is limited and there is an urgent need for finding solutions for the problem. In this article, we are reviewing the agents that cause cardiotoxicity and suggesting a proposal for follow up of breast cancer survivors in an attempt to reduce the magnitude of impact on their quality of life.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW As the percentage of patients achieving long-term survival following treatment of their cancer grows, it is increasingly important to understand the long-term toxicities of cancer-directed treatment. In this review, we highlight the recent findings regarding radiation-induced cardiotoxicity across multiple disease sites, with a particular focus on heart failure. RECENT FINDINGS Despite its relative lack of study historically, radiation-induced heart failure has now recently been implicated in several studies of breast cancer, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and lymphoma as a non-trivial potential consequence of thoracic radiotherapy. Data regarding specific cardiac dosimetric endpoints relevant to cardiotoxicity continue to accumulate. Radiation-induced heart failure is a rare but significant toxicity of thoracic radiotherapy, that is likely underreported. Important areas for future focus include understanding the interplay between thoracic radiotherapy and concurrent cardiotoxic systemic therapy as well as development of potential mitigation strategies and novel therapeutics.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Clinical cardio-oncology considerations specific to women span across many areas and are particularly relevant for management of patients with sex-specific cancers, such as breast cancer. RECENT FINDINGS Major improvement in breast cancer survivorship over the last decade and the recognition of CV disease as the second leading cause of death among survivors point to the relevance of long-term cardiovascular (CV) safety. This review summarizes the CV effects associated with multimodality breast cancer treatments and contemporary approach to CV risk stratification, prevention, early detection, monitoring, and management at the time of cancer diagnosis, during and after completion of treatment. We highlight the growing role of a multidisciplinary, team-based approach for comprehensive CV and oncology care through the entire cancer treatment continuum, from diagnosis through survivorship.

Abstract
The mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) is a member of the steroid receptor family and acts as a ligand-dependent transcription factor. In addition to its classical effects on water and electrolyte balance, its involvement in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular and renal diseases has been the subject of research for several years. The molecular basis of the latter has not been fully elucidated, but an isolated increase in the concentration of the MR ligand aldosterone or MR expression does not suffice to explain long-term pathologic actions of the receptor. Several studies suggest that MR activity and signal transduction are modulated by the surrounding microenvironment, which therefore plays an important role in MR pathophysiological effects. Local changes in micromilieu, including hypoxia, ischemia/reperfusion, inflammation, radical stress, and aberrant salt or glucose concentrations affect MR activation and therefore may influence the probability of unphysiological MR actions. The surrounding micromilieu may modulate genomic MR activity either by causing changes in MR expression or MR activity; for example, by inducing posttranslational modifications of the MR or novel interaction with coregulators, DNA-binding sites, or non-classical pathways. This should be considered when developing treatment options and strategies for prevention of MR-associated diseases.

Abstract
Representing 10%-25% of the primary cardiac neoplasms, primary malignant cardiac tumors (PMCT) have a poor prognosis, yet with rare incidence. Constituting more than 50% of the PMCT, cardiac sarcoma has increased not only in incidence over the past five decades but also in severity. Patients with PMCTs, especially sarcomas, have the worst prognosis when compared with other cardiac or extracardiac tumors. This retrospective study was performed using SEER*stat software, latest version 8.3.9.2(5) by accessing seer 18 registries plus data (excl AK) Nov 2020 Sub (2000-2018) for standard mortality ratio (SMR). A total of 235 patients were identified of whom 49.4% were females. Most of our patients were Stage 4 (n = 81) and distant in location (n = 92). The most common treatment method was tumor-directed surgery (n = 164), chemotherapy (n = 146), and radiotherapy (n = 55). Furthermore, other associated cancers with cardiac sarcoma were rare, with ten cases with lung and bronchus cancer (SMR: 37.95, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 18.2, 69.8), four with bone and joints (SMR: 1726.05, 95% CI: 470.2, 4419.3). During a 5-year follow-up, 235 patients died primarily due to cardiac sarcoma (n = 182, 77.4%), other cancers (n = 34, 14.4%), and other noncancerous causes (n = 19, 8%), while the noncancerous causes were attributed mainly to cardiovascular diseases (n = 4, 21%, SMR: 4.95, 95% CI: 1.35, 12.67), septicemia (n = 2, 10.5%, SMR: 41.23, 95% CI: 4.99, 148.95).
