Abstract
Background: Children with cerebral palsy are considered to be a population at risk for the occurrence of sleep difficulties. However, existing literature has been limited by subjective measures of sleep and has failed to examine contributing factors. Methods: Forty-five youth with cerebral palsy participated. Both youth and caregivers completed sleep-related questionnaires, while youth completed daily actigraphy for objective sleep assessments. Results: Sleep patterns, including sleep duration, wake after sleep onset, and sleep efficiency, are generally aligned with existing sleep recommendations. However, the number of awakenings was significantly higher in youth with cerebral palsy compared to these recommendations. Most youth experienced poor sleep quality, and approximately a quarter experienced insomnia. Being a boy and having a preexisting mental health diagnosis was associated with poor sleep quality and greater insomnia symptoms. Conclusions: Most youth with cerebral palsy experience a range of sleep difficulties. This study provides new information on sleep patterns in youth with cerebral palsy, highlighting the importance of addressing sleep issues in this population to improve their well-being and ultimately limit the negative impacts on overall health and quality of life.

Abstract
LAY ABSTRACT Sleep problems are common and impactful among individuals with Rett syndrome (RTT) and their caregivers. We examined the sleep patterns of 29 RTT patients and their primary caregivers using various assessment tools. The study found that a majority of the patients experienced sleep disturbances, with younger patients showing more sleep difficulties. Caregivers also reported poor sleep quality. The findings emphasize the need to address sleep problems in RTT management, as improving sleep quality can positively impact the well-being of individuals with RTT and their caregivers.

Abstract
In this study, we investigated the prevalence of mental disorders and the use of psychopharmacologic drugs among individuals with cerebral palsy (CP). We studied how the association between CP and mental illness develops over the life course (between ages 5 and 65 years), and how it varies across disability specific factors (intellectual disability, gross motor function and communicative ability). We used logistic regression models on a longitudinal matched case-control data material on all persons with CP in Sweden linked to several administrative registers including, the national patient registers and the pharmaceutical registers. Our results showed that the probability of being diagnosed with mental disorders and being dispensed psychopharmacologic drug was significantly higher among persons with CP compared to persons without CP across the different outcomes [OR = 1.52-4.7]. For some mental and neurodevelopmental disorders including sleep disorders, autism, and ADHD, and for the use of anxiolytics and sedatives, there was a sizeable gap already in childhood. However, the excess burden of mental illness appeared to grow over the life course, indicating that adults with CP may be a particularly disadvantaged group. Diagnosis for mental disorders and dispensation for psychopharmacologic drugs were not consistent with respect to disability specific factors, especially communicative and intellectual function, which indicates the need for systematic approaches in the mental health care of individuals with CP.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVES Sleep quality is important during childhood and adolescence. Given the high prevalence of pain in children/youth with cerebral palsy, we aimed to measure the association between short-term pain trajectories and sleep disturbance in these individuals. METHODS We accrued the cohort between November 2019 and October 2020 and recruited children/youth who (1) were 8-18 years old; (2) had cerebral palsy with any Gross Motor Function Classification System level; and (3) could self-report pain and sleep disturbance. We collected self-reported baseline and weekly follow-up data using electronic questionnaires completed every week for 5 weeks. Sleep disturbance at 5 weeks was the primary outcome (pediatric Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System short form, v1.0-4a). We used general linear regression to assess the association between pain intensity trajectory group and sleep disturbance controlling for confounders. RESULTS A total of 190 individuals were eligible; 102 were enrolled and 89 were included in our final analysis. Pain trajectory groups had estimated crude mean sleep disturbance scores at 5 weeks ranging from 56.0 (95% confidence interval, 51.8, 60.8) to 61.8 (55.7, 67.9). Compared to those with stable, no/very mild pain, those in the stable, high-pain group had the greatest sleep disturbance (adjusted β = 5.7; 95% confidence interval, 1.2, 10.2). CONCLUSIONS Irrespective of pain trajectory, children and youth with cerebral palsy reported sleep disturbances. Those with a stable, high pain intensity in the previous 5 weeks reported the greatest sleep disturbance. The results highlight the importance of considering pain trajectories and their impact on sleep in children with cerebral palsy. CITATION Shearer HM, Côté P, Hogg-Johnson S, Fehlings DL. Abstract
AIMS To examine sleep problems in a population-based sample of school-aged children (8-12yo) with Cerebral Palsy (CP) METHOD: Eighty-six children (mean 9 years, 5 months, SD = 1 year, 6 months; male = 60) with CP (Gross Motor Function Classification System; GMFCS I=46; II=21; III=9; IV=6; V=6) participated. Classifications/assessments included: Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children (SDSC), Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM-66), Manual Ability Classification System (MACS), Communication Function Classification System (CFCS), Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) and the Cerebral Palsy- Quality of Life (CP-QOL) Pain Impact subscale. Analysis included linear and logistic regression. RESULTS 38 (44 %) children were within the clinical range for sleep problems. Sleep problems were significantly associated with epilepsy, (95 % CI) = 14.48 (7.95 to 21.01), gross motor function, -0.13 (-0.26 to -0.01), manual ability, 7.26 (0.82 to 13.69), communication, 10.01 (2.21 to 17.80), child behaviour, 1.134 (0.74 to 1.53), and pain related QOL, 0.33 (0.12 to 0.53). For the multivariable model, sleep problems remained significantly associated with epilepsy, b (95 % CI) = 11.72 (4.88 to 18.57), child behaviour, 1.03 (0.65 to 1.41) and pain-related QOL, 0.21 (0.29 to 0.38). CONCLUSIONS Sleep problems are common and associated with epilepsy, child behaviour and pain related QOL.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The aim of this study is to compare the use of pain coping strategies and pain catastrophizing in youth with and without cerebral palsy (CP), and to examine how these two groups differ with respect to the associations between pain coping, catastrophizing, and measures of psychological function and sleep disturbance. METHODS Twenty-seven individuals with CP and 49 healthy controls aged 15-22 were included in this cross-sectional observational study. Pain was assessed using a semi-structured interviews and participants completed measures of pain coping, pain catastrophizing, psychological function, and sleep. RESULTS Youth with CP used information seeking and problem solving (p = 0.003, Cohen's d (d) = -0.80) and sought social support (p = 0.044, d = -0.51) less often, and used internalizing as a coping strategy more often (p = 0.045, d = 0.59) than healthy controls. The use of information seeking and problem solving correlated more strongly with measures of depression (p = 0.023, Cohen's f (f) = 0.08) and sleep disturbance (p = 0.022, f = 0.08), while behavioral distraction correlated more strongly with measures of anxiety (p = 0.006, f = 0.11) and sleep disturbance (p = 0.017, f = 0.09) in youth with CP, compared to healthy controls. CONCLUSIONS The study findings raise the possibility that youth with CP may benefit more in terms of psychological function and sleep quality from coping training interventions that focus on behavioral distraction, information seeking, and problem solving. Research to test these ideas in additional samples of youth with CP is warranted.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this population-based study was to assess behavior, sleep, and quality of life, and explore factors associated with these in children with Dravet syndrome. METHODS The Developmental Behavior Checklist, the Insomnia Severity Index, and a global question regarding quality of life from the Epilepsy and Learning Disabilities Quality of Life scale were completed by primary caregivers of 42/48 Swedish children with Dravet syndrome, born 2000-2018. Factors associated with problems with insomnia, behavior and quality of life were analyzed using multivariable linear regression. RESULTS Scores indicating significant behavioral problems were seen in 29/40 (72 %) children, scores indicating moderate or severe clinical insomnia in 18/42 (43 %) and scores indicating poor or very poor quality of life in 7/41 (17 %). On multivariable analysis, autistic symptoms were significantly associated with behavioral problems (p = 0.013), side-effects of anti-seizure medications (ASMs) were associated with insomnia (p = 0.038), whilst insomnia was significantly associated with poor quality of life (p = 0.016). SIGNIFICANCE Dravet syndrome in children is associated with significant problems with behavior, sleep and quality of life. There is a need to optimize treatment via ASMs and develop and evaluate interventions to treat behavioral and sleep difficulties to optimize outcomes.

Abstract
Cerebral palsy (CP) refers to a group of diseases characterized by persistent central dyskinesia, postural development disorder and activity limitation syndromes caused by nonprogressive brain injury in the developing fetus or infant, which is often accompanied by sensory, cognitive and attention disorders. The routine rehabilitation methods for children with CP mainly include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and other methods. In recent years, noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS), as a relatively new intervention method, has been widely used because of its potential to regulate cortical excitability and plasticity. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is an NIBS technique that is easier and more convenient to perform. It does not require patients to remain stationary for a long time or have a significant impact on treatment results due to children's frequent activities. Compared with other NIBS techniques, tDCS has greater flexibility and no strict restrictions on patients' activities; it also helps the therapist conduct occupational therapy or speech therapy while a child receives tDCS, which markedly reduces the treatment time and avoids burnout due to a long treatment duration. Thus, tDCS is a better and more convenient intervention for CP children and warrants further exploration. Accordingly, this article reviews tDCS application in children with CP and discusses tDCS application prospects for such children to promote its expansion in clinical practice.

Abstract
Cerebral palsy (CP) represents the most common motor impairment in childhood. The presence of sleep problems has not yet been investigated with an instrument specifically designed for this population. In this hospital-based, prospective study, N = 100 children (M = 7.9, range: 2-18 years) with CP were included. All patients underwent pediatric neurologists' screening incorporating instruments (Data Collection Form; Gross Motor Functions Classification System, GMFCS; Bimanual Fine Motor Function, BFMF) recommended by the "Surveillance of Cerebral Palsy in Europe (SCPE)". Parents completed the "Sleep Questionnaire for Children with Severe Psychomotor Impairment (SNAKE)". Children's sleep behavior was increasingly conspicuous, with greater gross motor (SNAKE scales: disturbances remaining asleep, daytime sleepiness) and fine motor (additionally SNAKE scale arousal and breathing problems) functional impairment. Overall, a proportion of children showed sleep behavior outside the SNAKE's normal range. No relevant sleep differences were identified between different CP subtypes and comorbidities. Applying a population-specific questionnaire, children's functional impairment seems to be more relevant to their sleep behavior than the CP subtype or CP comorbidities.
