Abstract
The widespread use of pesticides requires effective detection and quantification tools to improve monitoring of environmental quality. Electrochemical sensors offer a fast and sensitive response, and can also be optimized by combining several constituents and techniques, including biodegradable materials, being useful in the determination of chemical agents from environmental samples. Here, we produced a polymer-based sensor for 2,4,6-trichlorophenol determination, through electrospinning of poly(lactic acid)/poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PLA/PBAT) blend with graphite. The graphite-containing fibres were thermally treated and wetted in mineral oil, thus forming a paste, used as an electrode in the electrochemical sensor. The thermal analysis indicated a disorganization of the polymeric chains between the aromatic carbon chain of the PBAT polymer, resulting in a material with low enthalpy, lower crystallinity and greater thermal degradability after insertion of graphite in polymeric fibres. NIR spectra revealed changes related to the carbonyls of the polymeric ester groups. Cyclic voltammetry and square wave voltammetry techniques were applied to study the electrochemical behaviour of developed sensor. The thermal treatment of graphite-containing fibres increased the adhesion surface in which occurs the adsorption of the analyte on the electrode, which improved the peak current in the electrochemical tests. The PLA/PBAT/Graphite sensor applied to determination of 2,4,6-TCP presented the detection and quantification limits of 7.84 × 10-8 mol L-1 (0.0155 mg L-1) and 2.36 × 10-7 mol L-1 (0.0466 mg L-1) with a linearity response of 1.00 × 10-7 mol L-1 and 2.00 × 10-6 mol L-1 with correlation coefficient of 0.993 (r2).

Abstract
Contamination with 2,4,6-trichloroanisole (TCA) often causes taste and odor (T&O) problems in drinking water due to its low odor threshold concentration. Microbial O-methylation of the precursor 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (TCP) would be the dominant mechanism for TCA formation. Simple and rapid measurement of TCP in the low concentration range is necessary to control the problems induced by TCA. In this study, the combination of microbial conversion and instrumental analysis was proposed as a method of TCP quantification. Fungi and bacteria were isolated from various water samples and examined for their ability to produce TCA from TCP. As a result, a strain exhibiting quantitative TCA production and a high growth rate was obtained and named Mycolicibacterium sp. CB14. The conversion rate of TCP to TCA by this strain was found to be high and stable (85.9 ± 5.3%), regardless of the applied TCP concentration, although within the range of 0.1-10 µg/L. The limits of detection and quantification for TCP by this proposed method were determined to be 5.2 ng/L and 17.3 ng/L, respectively. By improving the methods, Mycolicibacterium sp. CB14 could be used for the quantification of TCP at very low concentration levels, which is sufficient to manage the T&O problem caused by TCA.

Abstract
Prochloraz (PTIC) is a hazardous fungicide used worldwide on agricultural produce despite concerns about potential impacts on human health and environmental pollution. The residue of PTIC and its metabolite 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (2,4,6-TCP) in fresh produce has largely not been clarified. Herein, we address this research gap by examining residues of PTIC and 2,4,6-TCP in fruit of Citrus sinensis through a typical storage period. PTIC residue in the exocarp and mesocarp peaked on days 7 and 14, respectively, while 2,4,6-TCP residue gradually increased throughout storage period. Based upon gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and RNA-sequencing analysis, we reported the potential impact of residual PTIC on endogenous terpene production, and identified 11 DEGs encoding enzymes involved in terpene biosynthesis in Citrus sinensis. Additionally, we investigated both the reduction efficacy (max: 58.93%) of plasma-activated water in citrus exocarp and the minimal impact on quality attributes of citrus mesocarp. The present study not only sheds light on the residual distribution of PTIC and its impact on endogenous metabolism in Citrus sinensis, but also further provides theoretical basis for potential approaches for efficiently reducing or eliminating pesticide residues.

Abstract
The modern development in the agricultural production has huge influential factors being highly beneficial and also includes some health hazards. Under the class of chlorophenols, 2,4,6-trichlorophenol is a widely used chemical which remains as a major pollutant in the environment. The detection of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol was initiated as a controlling measure to decrease the seriousness prevailing in the ecosystem. The electrochemical and UV-vis absorption sensing platform are simple and low-cost detection techniques with precise and sensitive analysis. Cadmium tin oxide integrated with the reduced graphene oxide was employed as a nanohybrid for the construction of the working electrode. The structural and morphological analysis confirmed the high degree of crystallinity of the nanocomposite with nanorod formation. The high surface area, with high charge carrier mobility, and increased electrical conductivity of the material boosted the 2,4,6-trichlorophenol detection. The active surface area was calculated to be 0.068 cm-1, 0.089 cm-1, 0.118 cm-1 and 0.146 cm-1 for all the modified electrodes. The resistance of the electrodes was about 91.4 Ω, 72.9 Ω, 48.8 Ω and 41.6 Ω. The linear range of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol was 0.019 μM-0.299 μM and 1.299 μM-1678.97 μM in electrochemical sensing and 10.99 μM-24.84 μM in UV detection. The obtained limit of detection with the formulation 3σ/SD was about 3.05 nM and 80 nM with sensitivity about 14.01 μA μM-1 cm-2. The real sample detection in environmental real samples showed good recovery results. The specific selectivity, good repeatability, reproducibility and stability analysis proves the good sensing parameters. Thus, the fabricated electrode is highly sufficient of sensing 2,4,6-trichlorophenol. These excellent features of the material can be applied for several other applications which will provide good performances.

Abstract
Convenient, and sensitive detection of pesticides and their metabolites in environmental or food samples is critical for assessing potential environmental and health risks. Here, a three-dimensional (3D) electrochemical sensing platform is proposed based on the integration of nanochannel array on pre-activated 3D graphene (p-3DG) electrodes with no need of additional adhesive layers, which enables sensitive detection of prochloraz and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (TCP) in environmental and food samples. Through two-step electrochemical polarization, organic phase anodic oxidation, and aqueous phase cathodic reduction, p-3DG electrodes with high active area and excellent electrocatalytic performance were obtained. Vertically-ordered mesoporous silica-nanochannel film (VMSF) can be rapidly grown on the surface of p-3DG by an electrochemical-assisted self-assembly (EASA) method. Taking advantage of the high electrocatalytic activity of p-3DG and the ability of nanochannels to enrich TCP through hydrogen bonding, the VMSF/p-3DG sensor can sensitively detect TCP in the range of 10 nM to 0.1 μM and 0.1–15 μM with a low limit of detection (LOD) of 2.4 nM. Compared with p-3DG and VMSF-modified 2D electrodes, the fabricated sensor has a wide detection linear range and low LOD. The coexistence of model interferents such as protein, surfactant, and humic acid did not affect the electrochemical response of TCP, confirming the high anti-fouling ability of the VMSF/p-3DG sensor. In addition, prochloraz in vegetable and fruit samples was indirectly determined because TCP was the metabolite of prochloraz.

Abstract
2,4,6-Trichlorophenol (2,4,6 TCP) is one of the hazardous toxicants, which has severe impacts on the environment and human health. This study is designed to develop a highly sensitive and selective electrochemical sensor based on CuO nanostructures for the detection of 2,4,6 TCP. The CuO nanostructures were synthesized through an aqueous chemical growth method and characterized by versatile analytical techniques, for example, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, energy-dispersive spectrometry, and X-ray diffraction. The characterization tools revealed a high crystalline nature, exceptional phase purity, nanoball morphology with an average size of around 18.7 nm for the CuO nanostructures. The synthesized material was used to modify a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with the help of Nafion as a binder to improve its efficiency and sensitivity. The CuO/Nafion/GCE was proven to be a potential sensor for the determination of 2,4,6 TCP under optimized conditions at a scan rate of 70 mV/s, potential range of 0.1-1.0 V, and phosphate buffer of neutral pH as the supporting electrolyte. The linear range for 2,4,6 TCP was set from (1 to 120 μM) with a low limit of detection value calculated to be 0.046 μM. The developed sensor was effectively applied for water samples with acceptable recovery values from 95.9 to 100.6%.

Abstract
In the present work, we reported a one pot simple colloidal-gel synthesis of molybdenum bismuth vanadate (MoBiVO4). The charge transfer property of MoBiVO4 was improved by developing a composite with graphene oxide (GO) through sonochemical technique. The optical and morphological analysis revealed that successful formation of GO-MoBiVO4 composite without any other filth. As prepared composite was used to modify the superficial surface of glassy carbon electrode (GO-MoBiVO4/GCE) and applied for the selective detection of environmental pollutant 2, 4, 6 trichrlorophenol (TCP). The electron channeling capability of GO with molybdenum bismuth vanadate possessed a superior electrochemical response in cyclic voltammetry (CV), whereas bare GCE and other modified electrodes provided an inferior response with lower current response. The differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) response of TCP at GO-MoBiVO4/GCE outcomes with low level detection of 0.4 nM and higher sensitivity of 2.49 μA μM-1 cm-2 with wider linear response 0.199-17.83 μM. Furthermore, the proposed sensor applied in practicability analysis and the results indicates GO-MoBiVO4/GCE prominent towards electrochemical detection of TCP.

Abstract
A novel SiO2@ MIPIL fluorescence sensor for the highly sensitive detection of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol was prepared by using surface molecularly imprinting technology with SiO2 microspheres as carriers and 3,3'-(anthracene-9,10-diylbis(methylene))bis(1-vinyl-1H-imidazole-3-ium) chloride as a double recognition fluorescence functional monomer. The prepared molecularly imprinted polymer (SiO2@MIPIL) was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, laser confocal microscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance. Compared with the polymer obtained via bulk polymerization (MIPIL), the surface molecularly imprinted polymer (SiO2@MIPIL) has a better linear range (0.1-50 nM), lower detection limit (89 pM), and shorter detection time (approximately 1.5 min). The fluorescence sensor also shows good specificity, high sensitivity, good stability, and reusability. Satisfactory results were obtained when using this sensor in industrial wastewater and spiked environmental water.

Abstract
Electrochemical methods have been deemed effective strategies for the detection of dye additive sunset yellow (SY) owing to their low cost, good stability, and high sensitivity. However, the application of the existing sensors with single electrical signal response is limited by their inadequate sensitivity and large background interference. Herein, a ratiometric electrochemical strategy with a dual signal was developed to detect SY. The strategy had an intrinsic built-in correction to the effects from the system, and thus reduced the influence of environmental change. 3D polyethyleneimine functionalized reduced graphene oxide aerogels@Au nanoparticles/SH-β-cyclodextrin (PEI-rGAs@AuNPs/SH-β-CD) was used as the sensing material due to its 3D macroporous microstructure with high specific surface area and excellent electronic conductivity. Guest molecule methylene blue (MB) was chosen as a probe molecule, which formed an inclusion host-guest complex with a SH-β-CD host in advance. The target molecule SY displaced MB from the CD cavities, resulting in the decrease of MB current and the increase of SY current. With the logarithmic value of ISY/IMB as the readout signal, the detection limit of the developed ratiometric electrochemical sensor reached as low as 0.3 nM, confirming the excellent sensitivity. Furthermore, this strategy exhibited good selectivity and repeatability, and could be used for the detection of SY in a real sample.

Abstract
A novel label-free electrochemical aptasensor was fabricated based on a three-dimensional porous electrode (3D-CS/rGO/GCE) for the detection of acetamiprid residues. The sensing signal was generated by the DNA itself. The porous electrode was prepared by electrodeposition in situ and characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). These results indicated that the porous electrode has a uniform nanoporous structure, high active area, and excellent conductivity, leading to improve the transmission efficiency of current signals. The 3D-CS/rGO/GCE was used to increase a load of acetamiprid aptamer on the electrode. Meanwhile, DNA self-assembly strategy was used to further increase the DNA amounts. Thus the electrochemical current was amplified significantly due to increased phosphate group amounts by the above synergistic effect. The determination of acetamiprid residues using square wave voltammetry (SWV) showed good sensitivity, with the linear range from 0.1 pM to 0.1 μM and the detection limit was 71.2 fM. The label-free electrochemical aptasensor was also used to detect acetamiprid residues in tea samples with satisfactory results.

Abstract
The present work describes the sensing application and supercapacitive behavior of silver oxide nanoparticles recovered from wastewater of photo film processing units via one-pot green sonochemical recovery process. The recovered silver oxide nanoparticles (Ag2O NPs) were characterized by spectral techniques such as FT-IR, Raman, UV-Vis and analytical tools such as XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, EDX, XPS and BET. In view of Ag2O NPs as electrode material with wide technological applications, the recovered Ag2O NPs were examined for their sensing and supercapacitive behavior. The developed sensor was explored to detect 2, 4, 6-trichlorophenol, and as expected it shows moral parameters which are required of an effective sensor. Therefore, it was exploited for the quantification of 2, 4, 6-trichlorophenol in soil samples from the agricultural area. Cyclic voltammetric (CV), Galvanostatic Charge-Discharge (GCD) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopic (EIS) studies on the recovered Ag2O NPs coated Ni foam electrode depicted the pronounced capacitive behavior. The GCD studies revealed an enhanced electrochemical performance, particularly with the large specific capacitance of 530 F/g at a current density of 1 A/g. The cyclic stability of the electrode material was identified with 88% retention in specific capacitance even after 5000 GCD cycles. These results strongly proved that the recovered Ag2O NPs are potential candidates for sensing and supercapacitor applications.

Abstract
Hemin immobilized into copper-based metal-organic frameworks was successfully prepared and used as a new electrode material for sensitive electrochemical biosensing. X-ray diffraction patterns, Fourier transform infrared spectra, scanning electron microscopy, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry were used to characterize the resultant composites. Due to the interaction between the copper atom groups and hemin, the constrained environment in Cu-MOF-74 acts as a matrix to avoid the dimerization of enzyme molecules and retain its biological activity. The hemin/Cu-MOF composites demonstrated enhanced electrocatalytical activity and high stability towards the oxidation of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol. Under optimum experimental conditions, the sensor showed a wide linear relationship over the range of 0.01-9 μmol L-1 with a detection limit (3σ) of 0.005 μmol L-1. The relative standard deviations were 4.6% and 3.5% for five repeated measurements of 0.5 and 5 μmol L-1 2,4,6-trichlorophenol, respectively. The detection platforms for 2,4,6-trichlorophenol developed here not only indicate that hemin/Cu-MOF-74 possesses intrinsic biological reactivity, but also enable further work to be conducted towards the application of enzyme-containing metal-organic frameworks in electrochemical biosensors.

Abstract
The residue dynamics and risk assessment of prochloraz and its metabolite 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (2,4,6-TCP) in apple under different treatment concentrations were investigated using a GC-ECD method. The derivatization percent of prochloraz to 2,4,6-TCP was stable and complete. The recoveries of prochloraz and 2,4,6-TCP were 82.9–114.4%, and the coefficients of variation (CV) were 0.7–8.6% for the whole fruit, apple pulp, and apple peel samples. Under the application of 2 °C 2.0 g/L, 2 °C 1.0 g/L, 20 °C 2.0 g/L, and 20 °C 1.0 g/L treatment, the half-life for the degradation of prochloraz was 57.8–86.6 d in the whole fruit and apple peel, and the prochloraz concentration in the apple pulp increased gradually until a peak (0.72 mg·kg−1) was reached. The concentration of 2,4,6-TCP was below 0.1 mg·kg−1 in four treatment conditions and not detected (<LOD) in apple pulp. Finally, based on the detection of market samples in Hefei (China), we believe that the residual level of prochloraz in apples meets the requirements of the Chinese standards.
