Abstract
Magnesium (Mg) has received very little exploration on its importance in the realm of battery-type energy storage technologies. They are abundantly present in seawater, and if successfully extracted and utilized in energy storage systems, it could lead to the long-term advancement of human civilization. Here, we fabricated an all-solid-state supercapacitor (ASSSC) using tellurium nanotubes decorated cobalt magnesium telluride microtubes (Te NTs@CoMgTe MTs) clad on nickel foam (NF). Owing to the unique mixed phase hierarchical structure, Te NTs@CoMgTe MTs showcases some advancement in energy storage performance. When tested in a three-electrode system, multiphasic hybrid of elemental Te and metal tellurides, Te NTs@CoMgTe MTs outperforms the monometallic telluride owing to the strong synergistic interaction effect triggered from conductive three components and delivers a long-life span performance up to 15,000 cycles. The fabricated Te NT@CoMgTe MT//AC solid-state device exhibits a maximum areal capacity of 59.2 μAh cm-2 (56.3 mAh g-1) at a current density of 6 mA cm-2 with a maximum energy density of 42.2 Wh kg-1 (46.5 μWh cm-2) at a power density of 6857.1 W kg-1 (7574.6 μW cm-2). The performance of the device is rigid even at different bending angles (0 to 180°) which validates the extensibility of the process for future applications.

Abstract
Rational design of porous heterostructured electrode materials for high-performance supercapacitors remains a big challenge. Herein, we report the in situ synthesis of Co0.85Se@Ni3S2 hybrid nanosheet arrays supported on carbon cloth (CC) substrate though an efficient two-step electrodeposition method. Compared with pure Co0.85Se and Ni3S2, the well-defined Co0.85Se@Ni3S2 heterojunction possesses enriched active sites, improved electrical conductivity, and reduced ion diffusion resistance. Benefiting from its hierarchically porous nanostructure and the synergistic effect of Co0.85Se and Ni3S2, the as-synthesized Co0.85Se@Ni3S2 electrode delivers a gravimetric capacitance (Cg)/volumetric capacitance (Cv) of 1644.1F g-1/3161.7F cm-3 at 1 A g-1, outstanding rate capability of 60.7% capacitance retention at 20 A g-1, as well as good cycling performance of 87.8% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles. Additionally, a hybrid supercapacitor (HSC) device presents a maximum energy density (E) of 65.7 Wh kg-1 at 696.2 W kg-1 with 93.3% cyclic durability after 15,000 cycles. Thus, this work proposes a simple and effective strategy to fabricate porous heterojunctions as high-performance electrode materials for energy storage devices.

Abstract
Transition metal carbonate hydroxides (M-CHs) are promising candidates for electrode materials in supercapattery, due to their low-cost preparation and high-energy features. However, they also suffer from ionic kinetics bottlenecks without efficient morphological design. Tailoring the chemical compositions and nanostructures of electrode materials to realize high performance is significant for meeting the current demand for electrical energy storage devices. Therefore, we present a simple hydrothermal method for constructing better electrochemically active M-CHs with ternary metal components and hierarchical nanostructures that are assembled by interwoven nanosheets. Benefiting from higher contents of Ni species and superior two-dimensional/three-dimensional (2D/3D) pore structures, the fabricated cobalt-nickel-zinc carbonate hydroxides with Co/Ni/Zn molar ratios of 2:3:1 (CoNiZn-231) delivered the best specific capacity of 1130.8 C g-1 at 1 A g-1, decent rate performance (67.2% in 1-10 A g-1), and excellent cycling performance (92.6% over 10,000 cycles) in comparison with the majority of mono/bimetallic materials. Then, an alkaline hybrid (CoNiZn-231//activated carbon (AC)) device is developed, which shows a high energy density of 31.62 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 646 W kg-1 and an excellent capacity retention of 99.27% after 10,000 cycles. Herein, the rational design of trimetallic compositions and hierarchical structures of carbonate hydroxides is described, which provides good choices for the synthesis of high-performance electrode materials in electrochemical energy storage applications.

Abstract
NiCo(OH)4-NiO composite electrode materials were prepared using hydrothermal deposition and electrophoretic deposition. NiCo(OH)4 is spherical and flowerlike, composed of nanosheets, and NiO is deposited on the surface of NiCo(OH)4 in the form of nanorods. NiCo(OH)4 has a large specific surface area and can provide more active sites. Synergistic action with NiO deposits on the surface can provide a higher specific capacitance. In order to study the influence of hydrothermal reaction temperature on the properties of NiCo(OH)4, the prepared materials of NiCo(OH)4-NiO, the hydrothermal reaction temperatures of 70 °C, 90 °C, 100 °C, and 110 °C were used for comparison. The results showed that the NiCo(OH)4-NiO-90 specific capacitance of the prepared electrode material at its maximum when the hydrothermal reaction temperature is 90 °C. The specific capacitance of the NiCo(OH)4-NiO-90 reaches 2129 F g−1 at the current density of 1 A g−1 and remains 84% after 1000 charge–discharge cycles.

Abstract
The insufficient contact between two phases in the heterostructure weakens the coupling interaction effect, which makes it difficult to effectively improve the electrochemical performance. Herein, a Co-carbonate hydroxide@ Ni-metal organic frameworks (Co-CH@Ni-MOFs) composite with super uniform core-shell heterostructure is fabricated by adopting 1D Co-CH nanowires as structuredirecting agents to induce the coating of Ni-MOFs. Both experimental and theoretical calculation results demonstrate that the heterostructure plays a vital role in the high performance of the as-prepared materials. On the one hand, the construction of super uniform core-shell heterostructure can create a large number of interfacial active sites and take advantages of the electrochemical characteristics of each component. On the other hand, the heterostructure can increase the adsorption energy of OH- ions and promote the electrochemical activity for improving the reversible redox reaction kinetics. Based on the aforementioned advantages, the as-fabricated Co-CH@Ni-MOFs electrode exhibits a high specific capacity of 173.1 mAh g-1 (1246 F g-1 ) at 1 A g-1 , an ultrahigh rate capability of 70.3% at 150 A g-1 and excellent cycling stability with 90.1% capacity retention after 10 000 cycles at 10 A g-1 . This study may offer a versatile design for fabricating a MOFs-based heterostructure as energy storage electrodes.

Abstract
Thanks to the attractive structural characteristics and unique physicochemical properties, mixed metal selenides (MMSes) can be considered as encouraging electrode materials for energy storage devices. Herein, a straightforward and efficient approach is used to construct multi-shelled nickel-manganese selenide hollow spheres (MSNMSeHSs) as cathode and double-shell nickel-iron selenide hollow spheres (DSNFSeHSs) as anode electrode materials by tuning shell numbers for supercapacitors. The as-designed MSNMSeHS electrode can deliver a splendid capacity of ∼339.2 mA h g-1/1221.1 C g-1, impressive rate performances of 78.8%, and considerable longevity of 95.7%. The considerable performance is also observed for the DSNFSeHS electrode with a capacity of 258.4 mA h g-1/930.25 C g-1, rate performance of 75.5%, and longevity of 90.9%. An efficient asymmetric apparatus (MSNMSeHS||DSNFSeHS) fabricated by these two electrodes depicts the excellent electrochemical features (energy density of ≈112.6 W h kg-1 at 900.8 W kg-1) with desirable longevity of ≈94.4%.

Abstract
Supercapacitors (SCs) have attracted many attentions and already became part of some high-power derived devices such as Tesla's electric cars because of their higher power density. Among all types of electrical energy storage devices, battery-supercapacitors are the most promising for superior performance characteristics, including short charging time, high power density, safety, easy fabrication procedures, and long operational life. An SC usually consists of two foremost components, namely electrode materials, and electrolyte. The selection of appropriate electrode materials with rational nanostructured designs have resulted in improved electrochemical properties for high performance and has reduced the cost of SCs. In this review, we mainly spotlight the nickel-based selenides nanostructured which applied as high-performance cathode materials for SCs. Different nickel-based selenides materials are highlighted in various categories, such as nickel-cobalt-based bimetallic chalcogenides and nickel-M based selenides. Also, we mentioned material modification for this material type. Finally, the designing strategy and future improvements on nickel-based selenides materials for the application of SCs are also discussed.

Abstract
Nickel hydroxide is promising for use in supercapacitor applications because of its low cost and tunable electrochemical properties, but its performance is usually restricted by insufficient conductivity and surface reactivity. In this work, sulfate-functionalized Ni(OH)2 (SNO) nanoplates were grown in situ on nickel foam (NF) by a green and facile one-step hydrothermal treatment of NF without the need for an external Ni source or surfactant addition. The resulting material showed a 9.3 times higher areal capacity and 1.8 times higher rate capability than the sulfate-free control and retained 81.3 % capacity after 5000 cycles. If used as the positive electrode in a hybrid supercapacitor, the SNO/NF//activated carbon system achieved >95 % Coulombic efficiency, a maximum energy density of 3.59 Wh m-2 , and a maximum power density of 44.63 Wm-2 , which surpass those achievable by most known Ni-based supercapacitors. Detailed material characterization and DFT calculations revealed that the introduction of sulfate expanded the layer spacing of Ni(OH)2 and improved the electrical conductivity and wettability to favor more efficient electrolyte diffusion, charge transfer, and reactant adsorption. The high loading of reactive components and inherited porous structure also contributed to the superior capacitive performance of the SNO/NF electrodes. Therefore, SNO/NF holds great potential for commercialized supercapacitor applications.

Abstract
Inkjet printing is an attractive technique in the field of flexible electronics due to the direct writing, digital controls and non-contact operation process. In this work, we successfully printed graphite oxide and Ag nanoparticles on the substrate of flexible carbon cloth to form a flexible, conductive and hydrophilic layer, which could be used as a new substrate with an electron transport layer of large surface area. In addition, Ni-Co LDH nanosheets as the main active materials were synthesized for improving the electrochemical activity via a convenient electrochemical deposition method. The binder-free Ni-Co LDH/Ag/rGO@CC electrode exhibits outstanding electrochemical performance along with a high capacity of 173 mA h g-1 at 1 A g-1. Moreover, an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) was assembled with Ni-Co LDH/Ag/rGO@CC electrode as the positive electrode materials and activated carbon coated CC as the negative electrode materials, showing a high capacity of 95 mA h g-1 at 0.6 A g-1, and maximum energy density of 76 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 480 W kg-1.
