Abstract
Cadmium (Cd) is a toxic non-essential metal element that can enter the honey bee body through air, water and soil. Currently, there is a lack of sufficient research on the effects of Cd on A. cerana cerana, especially the potential risks of long-term exposure to sublethal concentrations. In order to ascertain the toxicological effects of the heavy metal Cd on bees, we performed laboratory-based toxicity experiments on worker bees and conducted analyses from three distinctive facets: antioxidative, immunological, and gut microbiota. The results showed that exposure of bees to high concentrations of Cd resulted in acute mortality, and the increase in mortality was concentration dependent. In long-term exposure to sublethal concentrations, Cd reduced the number of transcripts of antioxidant genes (AccSOD1, AccTPx3 and AccTPx4) and superoxide dismutase activity, causing an increase in malondialdehyde content. Simultaneously, the transcription of immune-related genes (AccAbaecin and AccApidaecin) and acetylcholinesterase activities was inhibited. Furthermore, Cd changes the structural characteristics of bacterial and fungal communities in the gut, disrupting the balance of microbial communities. In conclusion, the health and survival of honey bees are affected by Cd. This study provides a scientific basis for investigating the toxicological mechanisms and control strategies of the heavy metal Cd on honey bees, while facilitating a better understanding and protection of these valuable honey bees.

Abstract
Over the past eight years, bee products such as wax, honey, propolis, and pollen have generated intense curiosity about their potential food uses; to explore these possibilities, this review examines the nutritional benefits and notable characteristics of each product related to the food industry. While all offer distinct advantages, there are challenges to overcome, including the risk of honey contamination. Indeed, honey has excellent potential as a healthier alternative to sugar, while propolis's remarkable antibacterial and antioxidant properties can be enhanced through microencapsulation. Pollen is a versatile food with multiple applications in various products. In addition, the addition of beeswax to oleogels and its use as a coating demonstrate significant improvements in the quality and preservation of environmentally sustainable foods over time. This study demonstrates that bee products and apitherapy are essential for sustainable future food and innovative medical treatments.

Abstract
Wild bees play crucial roles in pollinating numerous crops and fruits worldwide. However, these essential insect pollinators are threatened with decline due to a variety of stressors. Among stressors, relatively little work has been done on metalloid pollution. Laboratory experiments have shown that arsenic (As) and selenium (Se) can negatively impact on bees, it is unknown if these effects translate in real-world environments. To address this knowledge gap, wild bee communities were sampled from 18 smallholder farmlands in Kaihua County in Quzhou, Southeast China and As and Se concentrations in three bee species were measured (Xylocopa tranquebarorum, Eucera floralia, and Apis cerana). Analyses revealed that the large carpenter bee, X. tranquebarorum, exhibited significantly lower As and Se concentrations than the other two wild bee species. No significant correlations were found between As and Se concentrations in all three wild bee species. Interestingly, the proportion of semi-natural habitat was found to be significantly related to reduced Se concentration in wild bee bodies, though no such effect was observed for As. As pollution negatively impacted bee diversity but not abundance, whereas Se significantly impacted neither bee diversity nor abundance. Furthermore, both As and Se pollution had no significant effect on the abundance of small-bodied wild bees. Given the essential role of wild bees for pollination services, monitoring of As and Se pollution in wild bee bodies and their food resources (pollen and nectar) is recommended across agricultural and other potentially impacted systems.
