Abstract
In this paper, urethane-based acrylates (UA) were prepared via an environmentally friendly non-isocyanate route. Isophorone diamine (IPDA) reacted with ethylene carbonate (EC), producing carbamate containing amine and hydroxyl groups, which further reacted with neopentyl glycol diacrylate (NPGDA) by aza Michael addition, forming UA. The structures of the obtained intermediates and UA were characterized by 1H NMR and electrospray ionization high-resolution mass spectrometry (ESI-HRMS). The photopolymerization kinetics of UA were investigated by infrared spectroscopy. The composite with obtained UA can be UV cured quickly to form a transparent film with a tensile strength of 21 MPa and elongation at break of 16%. After UV curing, the mono-functional urethane acrylate was copolymerized into the cross-linked network in the form of side chains. The hydroxyl and carbamate bonds on the side chains have high mobility, which make them easy to form stronger dynamic hydrogen bonds during the tensile process, giving the material a higher tensile strength and elongation at break. Therefore, the hydrogen bonding model of a cross-linked network is proposed. The composite with UA can be 3D printed into models.

Abstract
Polyureas have been widely applied in many fields, such as coatings, fibers, foams and dielectric materials. Traditionally, polyureas are prepared from isocyanates, which are highly toxic and harmful to humans and the environment. Synthesis of polyureas via non-isocyanate routes is green, environmentally friendly and sustainable. However, the application of non-isocyanate polyureas is quite restrained due to their brittleness as the result of the lack of a soft segment in their molecular blocks. To address this issue, we have prepared polyester polyureas via an isocyanate-free route and introduced polyester-based soft segments to improve their toughness and endow high impact resistance to the polyureas. In this paper, the soft segments of polyureas were synthesized by the esterification and polycondensation of dodecanedioic acid and 1,4-butanediol. Hard segments of polyureas were synthesized by melt polycondensation of urea and 1,10-diaminodecane without a catalyst or high pressure. A series of polyester polyureas were synthesized by the polycondensation of the soft and hard segments. These synthesized polyester-type polyureas exhibit excellent mechanical and thermal properties. Therefore, they have high potential to substitute traditional polyureas.

Abstract
Currently, conventional plastics are necessary for a variety of aspects of modern daily life, including applications in the fields of healthcare, technology, and construction. However, they could also contain potentially hazardous compounds like isocyanates, whose degradation has a negative impact on both the environment and human health. Therefore, researchers are exploring alternatives to plastic which is sustainable and environmentally friendly without compromising its mechanical and physical features. This review study highlights the production of highly eco-friendly bioplastic as an efficient alternative to non-biodegradable conventional plastic. Bioplastics are produced from various renewable biomass sources such as plant debris, fatty acids, and oils. Poly-addition of di-isocyanates and polyols is a technique employed over decades to produce polyurethanes (PUs) bioplastics from renewable biomass feedstock. The toxicity of isocyanates is a major concern with the above-mentioned approach. Novel green synthetic approaches for polyurethanes without using isocyanates have been attracting greater interest in recent years to overcome the toxicity of isocyanate-containing raw materials. The polyaddition of cyclic carbonates (CCs) and polyfunctional amines appears to be the most promising method to obtain non-isocyanate polyurethanes (NIPUs). This method results in the creation of polymeric materials with distinctive and adaptable features with the elimination of harmful compounds. Consequently, non-isocyanate polyurethanes represent a new class of green polymeric materials. In this review study, we have discussed the possibility of creating novel NIPUs from renewable feedstocks in the context of the growing demand for efficient and ecologically friendly plastic products.

Abstract
Nonisocyanate polyurethane (NIPU) has been extensively studied because of its sustainability potential. However, the low reactivity of five-membered cyclocarbonates with amines and the side reactions at higher temperatures always sacrifice the performance of NIPUs. In this work, a bisphenol-S cyclic thiocarbonate and different amino-terminated dimer-acid polyamides (DAPAs) were used to prepare nonisocyanate polythiourethanes (SPTU-DAs). Wherein bisphenol-S acts as a hard segment due to a π-π package, plentiful hydrogen bonds introduced by DAPA units induce crystallization and nanophase separation. They both endow the NIPUs with high mechanical performance. Meanwhile, active cyclic thiocarbonate, instead of cyclic carbonate, ensures rapid synthesis under mild conditions without side reactions. The experimental results of DSC, WAXD, and DMA confirmed the existence of crystallization of SPTU-DAs. The as-prepared thermoplastic polythiourethane has a maximum strength of more than 10 MPa, which is stronger than those of the cross-linked nonisocyanate polythiourethanes reported. It is of key significance to obtain the high performance of nonisocyanate polythiourethanes.

Abstract
Polyureas (PURs) are a competitive polymer to their analogs, polyurethanes (PUs). Whereas PUs' main functional group is carbamate (urethane), PURs contain urea. In this revision, a comprehensive overview of PUR properties, from synthesis to technical applications, is displayed. Preparative routes that can be used to obtain PURs using diisocianates or harmless reagents such as CO2 and NH3 are explained, and aterials, urea monomers and PURs are discussed; PUR copolymers are included in this discussion as well. Bulk to soft components of PUR, as well as porous materials and meso, micro or nanomaterials are evaluated. Topics of this paper include the general properties of aliphatic and aromatic PUR, followed by practical synthetic pathways, catalyst uses, aggregation, sol-gel formation and mechanical aspects.

Abstract
We report here the first example of the direct synthesis of polyureas from the dehydrogenative coupling of diamines and methanol using a ruthenium pincer catalyst. The present methodology replaces the use of toxic diisocyanates, conventionally used for the production of polyureas, with methanol, which is renewable, less toxic, and cheaper, making the overall process safer and more sustainable. Further advantages of the current method have been demonstrated by the synthesis of a renewable, a chiral, and the first 13C-labelled polyurea.

Abstract
The transformation of CO2 into polymeric materials is an important and hot research topic from the viewpoint of renewable resources and environmental effects. Herein, a series of polyureas have been synthesized by polycondensation from CO2 with diamines of 1,12-diaminododecane (DAD) and/or 4,7,10-trioxa-1,13-tridecanediamine (TTD). The properties of polyureas synthesized were characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, XRD, DSC, TGA, and DMA. The polyureas synthesized from CO2 with a mixture of diamines presented high performances compared to those of polyureas synthesized from CO2 with a single diamine. The thermal and mechanical properties were improved largely by the variation in the crystallization and the chain flexibility depending on the changes in the density and/or intensity of hydrogen bonds. With increasing amounts of TTD from 0 to 100% in weight, the melting (Tm), crystallization (Tc), and glass transition (Tg) temperatures decreased from 207 to 116 °C, from 181 to 54 °C, and from 66 to -34 °C, respectively. When the TTD content was increased from 0 to 50 wt %, the Young's modulus decreased from 1170 to 406 MPa, and the tensile strength decreased from 53.3 to 42.9 MPa. However, the elongation at break increased from 13 to 330%. Furthermore, the chain length of aliphatic diamines and polyetheramines had a significant effect on the mechanical properties. The initial decomposition temperature (Td,5%) is >295 °C, about 110 °C higher than the Tm (116-207 °C), which is advantageous for the postprocessing. The mechanical properties of the polyureas synthesized herein are superior to those of polycarbonate and polyamide 6. Thus, polyureas synthesized from the renewable and cheap resources, CO2 and diamines, will find wide potential applications in the field of polymeric materials.

Although reaction occurred without a catalyst (24 h, 70 °C), different catalysts, namely, imidazole, tetramethylguanidine, 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU), and combinations thereof were investigated to improve the reaction efficiency. When 20 mol % DBU was used as a catalyst, the degree of substitution (DS) could be improved from 0.05 to 0.15 compared to the noncatalyzed reaction. When the amount of DBU was decreased to 5 mol %, catalytical activity remained, albeit with a slightly lower DS (0.09). Temperature did not have a significant effect on the DS but it could be used to alter the solubility of the product. Based on chemical analysis, the alkyl group was attached to starch by the formation of a carbamate group. As the carbonyl carbon in the carbamate originated from DMC, which, in turn, can be produced from carbon dioxide on an industrial scale, the current study provides a conventional way to utilize carbon dioxide-based chemicals in the functionalization of a natural polymer. DMC is also biodegradable and classified as a nonvolatile organic component, making it an environmentally desirable coupling agent.
