Abstract
Human dietary exposure to chemical compounds is a priority issue for public health authorities since it constitutes a key step in risk assessment, and food packaging could be an important source of contamination. In this study, the bioaccessibility of cyclodi-BADGE was evaluated in canned seafood samples using a standardized protocol of in vitro gastrointestinal digestion and an analytical method based on liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry. The impact of enzymes, different gastric pHs, and food-covering liquids on the bioaccessibility of cyclodi-BADGE was studied. The results highlighted that cyclodi-BADGE was available to be absorbed at the intestinal level (90.9-112.3%), and its bioaccessibility increased substantially in fat food samples. Finally, the estimated dietary exposure to cyclodi-BADGE in the Spanish adult population reached values of 14.26 μg/kg bw/day for tuna in tomato, exceeding the tolerable daily intake (1.5 μg/kg bw/day) recommended for chemicals with high toxicological risk.

Abstract
Estimating the impact of pesticide residue bioaccessibility in fruits on dietary exposure is a complex task in human health risk assessment. This research investigated the bioaccessibility of ten commonly used and detected pesticides in bananas and mangoes, as well as the factors influencing it, using an in vitro model. The highest bioaccessibility was observed at pH levels of 2.5 and 6.5 in the gastric and intestinal stages, respectively. Bioaccessibility decreased significantly with increasing solid/liquid ratios for most pesticides. The consumption of protein and four dietary components (carbohydrates, protein, lipids, and dietary fiber) could significantly reduce pesticide bioaccessibility by 9.89-48.32% (p < 0.05). Bioaccessibility in oral and gastric stages among four populations followed the order of adults/the elderly > children > infants, due to decreasing concentrations of α-amylase and pepsin. Pesticides in bananas generally exhibited a higher bioaccessibility (18.65-82.97%) compared to that in mangoes (11.68-87.57%). Bioaccessibility showed a negative correlation with the Log P values of the target pesticide, while no clear relationship was found between bioaccessibility and initial pesticide concentrations. Incorporating bioaccessible pesticide concentrations into risk assessments could lower dietary risk estimates by 11.85-79.57%. Assessing human exposure to pesticides based on bioaccessibility would greatly improve the accuracy of the risk assessment.

Abstract
This systematic study deals with the amount of bisphenol A (BPA) in milk and dairy products, its analytical methods, and risk assessment. Milk is one of the drinks that has a high consumption. Bisphenol A can be present both in raw milk and its amount undergoes changes during the pasteurization process. This review was conducted by searching for the keywords Bisphenol A, BPA milk, dairy product, cheese, cream, butter, yogurt, measurement, detection, and analysis in different databases. The search was done in three databases, Scopus, PubMed and Science Direct. The largest number of studies on the determination of bisphenol A belonged to Asian and European countries. The amount of bisphenol A in milks was observed in the range from ND to 640 ng/mL. Furthermore, the amount of BPA in the tested cheese samples was observed in the ND range up to 6.1 ng/g and in the yogurt samples in the ND range up to 4.4 ng/g. The most used analytical method was based on liquid chromatography. The most used solvent for extraction was methanol or acetonitrile. HQ (Hazard Quotient) was also calculated in some studies. There was no risk in terms of milk consumption due to BPA contamination in extracted data.

Abstract
The trend toward healthier food products has led to an increase in the research of in vitro gastrointestinal digestion methods. Among the most used models, static models are the simplest. Most static models have three stages: oral, gastric, and intestinal, simulating the enzymatic, electrolyte, pH, temperature, and bile salt conditions. The studies that have taken the most notice are those related to antioxidant activity, followed by those dealing with proteins and carbohydrates using most of them static in vitro digestion models. The number of these studies has increased over the years, passing from 45 to 415 in a 10-year period (2012-2023) and showing an interest in knowing the impact of food on human health. Nevertheless, published papers report different methodologies and analytical approaches. This review discusses the similarities and differences between the published static in vitro gastrointestinal digestion methods, with a focus on carbohydrates, finding that the most used protocol is Infogest, but with differences, mainly in the type of enzymes and their activity. Regarding in vitro gastrointestinal digestion of carbohydrates, many of the published studies are related to food and biomacromolecules, being the oral phase the most omitted, while the intestinal phase in the most diverse. Other methodologies to study the intestinal phase have been recommended, but the number of in vitro digestion studies using these methodologies (RSIE and BBMV) is still scarce but could represent a good alternative to analyze carbohydrates foods when combining with Infogest. More studies are required in this area.

Abstract
AIM/OBJECTIVE Bisphenols are widely used in the manufacturing of polycarbonate material and epoxy resins which constitute the essential component of plastic. Bisphenol A (BPA) has been reported to produce toxicity on organs in both animal and human studies. Therefore, plastic manufacturers are replacing BPA with other analogues that are considered to be safe, and BPA-free products are now available in the market. However, some studies have reported that bisphenol-S (BPS) also possesses toxic properties. It has been reported to depress ventricular contraction as well as produce ventricular arrhythmia on acute exposure. The present study was performed to examine the effect of BPS on in vitro spontaneously-beating right atria in rats. METHODS In the present study, in vitro spontaneous contractions of right atria obtained from adult female rats of the Wistar strain were recorded. The atria were exposed to BPS (10-6-10 mM) and its effects on atrial contractions were recorded in the form of cumulative-concentration response with and without administration of antagonists namely atropine, L-NAME, and methylene blue. RESULTS BPS decreased the rate as well as the force of atrial contractions. The changes produced in the rate and force of atrial contractions were not attributed to ethanol, which was used to prepare BPS solutions. The decrease in right atrial contractility produced by BPS was blocked by L-NAME; however, atropine and methylene blue were not able to antagonize the effects of BPS on atria. CONCLUSIONS The present study indicates the involvement of NO-dependent but cGMP independent pathway responsible for BPS-induced cardio-toxicity.

Abstract
Bisphenol A is classified as a high production volume chemical commonly used in the manufacture of polycarbonate plastics, epoxy resins and thermal paper. The endocrine disrupting properties of this xenobiotic have led to the restriction and prohibition of its use in many consumer products. To date, many chemical compounds with a chemical structure similar to bisphenol A have been used in consumer products as its replacement. The ubiquitous occurrence of bisphenol A and its substitutes in the environment and their endocrine activity as well as adverse effects on aquatic organisms is a global concern, especially because many available literature reports show that many substitutes (e.g. bisphenol AF, bisphenol AP, bisphenol B, bisphenol C, bisphenol F, bisphenol G, bisphenol FL, tetrabromobisphenol A) exert adverse effects on aquatic organisms, similar to, or even stronger than bisphenol A. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to provide a comprehensive overview of the production, sources, occurrence and associated toxicity, as well as the endocrine activity of bisphenol A and its substitutes on aquatic species. The environmental levels and ecotoxicological data presented in this review allowed for a preliminary assessment and prediction of the risk of bisphenol A and its substitutes for aquatic organisms. Furthermore, the data collected in this paper highlight that several compounds applied in bisphenol A-free products are not safe alternatives and regulations regarding their use should be introduced.

Abstract
Bisphenol A, bisphenol S, and fluconazole are environmental contaminants widely found in surface waters because of their extensive usage and low biodegradability. Therefore, other methods are often considered for the removal of these compounds. The present study aims at their photodegradation with the use of UV light and three different catalysts, ZnO, TiO2, and Ag-TiO2. The results obtained show that photocatalytic removal of these compounds is also problematic and the use of catalysts, such as ZnO and TiO2, at increasing concentrations mostly leads to lower degradation of the tested compounds. The modification of TiO2 with silver increases the degradation of both bisphenols up to 100%, which was achieved in 60 min by bisphenol A and in as little as 10 min by bisphenol S. Nevertheless, the degradation of fluconazole remained at the same level, not exceeding 70% in 60 min, i.e., still much lower than expected. In addition, the degradation products of bisphenols show the hydroxylation and destruction of their phenolic rings, while no degradation products were found during the test with fluconazole. Although the potentially genotoxic bisphenol A degradation product was found, the acute toxicity of the formed compounds differs little in comparison to the parent bisphenols.

Abstract
As substitutes for bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol analogs (BPs) have been found to cause endocrine disorders and induce toxic effects. The objective of this study was to evaluate the bioaccumulation and subacute toxicity of bisphenol Z (BPZ), bisphenol C (BPC), bisphenol F (BPF), and bisphenol S (BPS) to zebrafish. Five-month-old zebrafish were exposed to 1/100 LC50, 1/50 LC50, and 1/10 LC50 of BPZ, BPC, BPF, and BPS for 13 days, respectively. Bioaccumulation, oxidative stress, and related mRNA expression in zebrafish tissues were measured on days 1, 7, and 13. After exposure, the four kinds of BPs all resulted in the accumulation of concentration and lipid peroxidation in zebrafish tissues to varying degrees. BPZ and BPC had the highest bioaccumulation level and had the greatest influence on malonic dialdehyde (MDA). In addition, the enzyme activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX), and the content of glutathione (GSH) in zebrafish tissues were also affected at different levels. However, the enzyme activities of SOD and POD were inactivated in zebrafish exposed to a high concentration of BPC. Further studies showed that BPs exposure down-regulated the transcription level of sod but up-regulated the relative expression levels of cat and gpx. The mRNA relative expression level of erα was not significantly changed, while the mRNA relative expression level of erβ1 was significantly down-regulated except under BPS exposure. These results indicate that BPZ, BPC, and BPF significantly affect the expression level of the estrogen receptor (ER) in zebrafish tissues. Overall, the results suggest that exposure to waterborne BPs can cause severe oxidative stress and tissue damage in adult zebrafish that is not sufficient to kill them after 13 days of waterborne exposure. The toxicity of BPs to organisms, therefore, should be further analyzed and evaluated.

Abstract
In this study, a porous molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensor was successfully fabricated for the selective assay of bisphenol S (BPS) by introducing N-methacryloyl-L tyrosine functional monomer. The molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-based sensor (MA-Tyr@MIP/GCE) was prepared via photopolymerization on the glassy carbon electrode and subsequently characterized by using cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The analytical performance of the sensor was evaluated via CV and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) measurements. Under the optimized conditions, the rebinding experiment demonstrated that the peak current of the porous MIP-based sensor obviously decreased with the increase of BPS concentration in the concentration range of 1-10 fM. Therefore, the detection limit was determined as 0.171 fM. It should be underlined that MA-Tyr@MIP/GCE exhibited high sensitivity and excellent selectivity because MA-TyrMA-Tyr@MIP/GCE sensor has a higher imprinting factor (IF) toward BPS in respect to competitive analogs, i.e., bisphenol A, bisphenol B, and bisphenol F. The practical application of the sensor also showed good reproducibility and stability for the detection of BPS in human serum and water samples. These results showed MA-Tyr@MIP/GCE successfully applied for the selective recognition of BPS in biological and water samples with high sensitivity and excellent selectivity.
