Abstract
Etomidate as a non-barbiturate sedative, has central inhibitory effect and addiction and has been listed as a controlled drug in some countries due to the abusing trend nowadays. Therefore, rapid and sensitive detection of etomidate is of great significance. In this work, a novel fluorescent sensing probe (CuNCs@MIPs) based on copper nanoclusters (CuNCs) and molecular imprinted polymers (MIPs) has been firstly reported. CuNCs was environment-friendly synthesized using poly(vinylpyrrolidone) as a template and ascorbic acid as a reducing agent. After functionalized with molecular imprinting technique, the CuNCs@MIPs probe has special binding cavities on surface to target etomidate, causing the fluorescence intensity rapidly decrease, which confirmed it has excellent sensitivity, selectivity and stability. Under optimal conditions, the fluorescent sensing probe presented high precision linear relationship for etomidate in range of 10-500 ng/ml with detection limit of 10 ng/ml, and the whole detection process was completed within 10 min. This sensing method has also been applied to real samples detection, still demonstrated excellent feasibility in electronic cigarette liquids and urine. More importantly, compared with previous methods, this fluorescent sensing method has advantages such as rapid, simple and easy to operate. Collectively, the proposed CuNCs@MIPs sensing probe has good fluorescence characteristics and simple synthesis strategy, showed a great potential in etomidate detection and application.

Abstract
In this study, a new analytical method was developed using magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs) by employing eco-friendly supramolecular ternary deep eutectic solvents to synthesize these MMIPs for selective extraction of rifaximin. The characterization analysis and adsorption affinity investigation were conducted. The results showed fast adsorption (15 min) with high adsorption capacity (43.20 mg g-1) and selectivity for rifaximin. Various extraction parameters were optimized, achieving recoveries ranging from 86.67% to 99.47% in spiked milk samples using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The detection and quantification limits were 0.01 mg L-1 and 0.03 mg L-1, respectively. The method exhibited low RSDs (<4.70%) and excellent selectivity, with MMIPs reusable up to seven times with only a 10% performance loss. This study proposes a convenient and reliable method for trace-level rifaximin extraction from milk using eco-friendly MMIPs.

Abstract
The use of lignocellulosic biomass to create natural flavor has drawn attention from researchers. A key flavoring ingredient that is frequently utilized in the food industry is vanillin. In this present study, Pediococcus acidilactici PA VIT effectively involved in the production of bio-vanillin by using Ferulic acid as an intermediate with a yield of 11.43 µg/mL. The bio-vanillin produced by Pediococcus acidilactici PA VIT was examined using FTIR, XRD, HPLC, and SEM techniques. These characterizations exhibited a unique fingerprinting signature like that of standard vanillin. Additionally, the one variable at a time method, placket Burmann method, and response surface approach, were employed to optimize bio-vanillin. Based on the central composite rotary design, the most important process factors were determined such as agitation speed, substrate concentration, and inoculum size. After optimization, bio-vanillin was found to have tenfold increase, with a maximum yield of 376.4 µg/mL obtained using the response surface approach. The kinetic study was performed to analyze rate of reaction and effect of metal ions in the production of bio-vanillin showing Km of 10.25, and Vmax of 1250 were required for the reaction. The metal ions that enhance the yield of bio-vanillin are Ca2+, k+, and Mg2+ and the metal ions that affects the yield of bio-vanillin are Pb+ and Cr+ were identified from the effect of metal ions in the bio-vanillin production.

Abstract
Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) as artificial synthetic receptors are in high demand for food analysis due to their inherent molecular recognition abilities. It is common practice to employ functional monomers with basic or acidic groups that can interact with analyte molecules via hydrogen bonds, covalent bonds, and other interactions (π-π, dipole-ion, hydrophobic, and Van der Waals). Therefore, selecting the appropriate functional monomer and cross-linker is crucial for determining how precisely they interact with the template and developing the polymeric network's three-dimensional structure. This study summarizes the advancements made in MIP's functional monomers and cross-linkers for food analysis from 2018 to 2023. The subsequent computational design of MIP has been thoroughly explained. The discussion has concluded with a look at the difficulties and prospects for MIP in food analysis.

Abstract
In this work, magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for specific recognition of Hydroxytyrosol (HT) were designed by vinyl-modified magnetic particles (Fe3O4@SiO2@VTEOs) as carrier, ternary deep eutectic solvent (DES) as functional monomer, while ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as crosslinker. The optimum amount of DES was obtained by adsorption experiments (molar ratio, caffeic acid: choline chloride: formic acid = 1:6:3) which were 140 μL in total. Under the optimized amount of DES, the maximum adsorption capacity of the MIPs particles was 42.43 mg g-1, which was superior to non-imprinted polymer (4.64 mg g-1) and the imprinting factor (IF) is 9.10. Syringin and Oleuropicrin were used as two reference molecules to test the selectivity of the DES-MIPs particles. The adsorption capacity of HT was 40.11 mg g-1. Three repeated experiments show that the polymer has high stability and repeatability (RSD = 5.50).

Abstract
The ultra-sensitive detection of strychnine is crucial to provide powerful evidence in strychnine poisoning cases. In this study, a novel fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) self-assembled gold nanocage (AuNCs) composite is synthesized for the ultra-sensitive detection of strychnine using molecularly imprinted polymer sensing technology (MIPs-CDs@AuNCs). With strong loading and delivery capability of AuNCs, the CDs could be loaded into AuNCs, where the anisotropy of CDs could significantly decrease and the fluorescence of the MIPs-CDs@AuNCs probe gained lower relative standard deviation (RSD). Moreover, the fluorescence response of MIPs-CDs@AuNCs to target strychnine was observed to be more significant than MIPs-CDs without gold nanocages. Under optimal conditions, the developed MIPs-CDs@AuNCs fluorescence strategy showed good linear relationship at the concentration of strychnine from 3 ng mL-1 to 200 ng mL-1 with the limit of detection as low as 1 ng mL-1. Besides, real blood samples were analyzed without complex pre-preparation procedure to investigate the performance of the proposed molecularly imprinted fluorescence probe, and satisfactory results were obtained with absolute deviations between -1.16 ng mL-1 and 1.28 ng mL-1, which exhibited a great potential for the detection of strychnine in health care work.

Abstract
In this study, a novel double-emission fluorescence probe at 340 and 400 nm was synthesized by one-pot method using phenylalanine (Phe) and ascorbic acid (AA) as stabilizing and reducing agents. It was found that the fluorescence intensity of the probe at 400 nm could be controlled by controlling the temperature within a certain range, and the ratio of double-emission fluorescence probe could be further regulated. Under the optimal conditions, the fluorescence intensity at 340 nm decreased significantly, while it only showed a slight decrease at 400 nm, which constituted the ratio fluorescence probe. The synthesized fluorescence probe showed good linearity in the range of 0.2-32 μM, and its detection limit was 63.4 nM. Moreover, the method was successfully employed to determine VA in vanilla drink and perfumes, and corresponding results were consistent with those of HPLC.

Abstract
A new magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer was successfully synthesized using a ternary deep eutectic solvent derived from caffeic acid-choline chloride-formic acid as a functional monomer, thymol-menthol deep eutectic solvent as a template, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as a cross-linker, potassium peroxodisulfate as an initiator, and aqueous ethanol solution (90% (v/v)) as a porogen. The synthesized material was characterized and applied for magnetic solid-phase extraction of dichlorodiphenyl trichloroethane and its degradation products. Optimization of the extraction condition was carried out using the central composite design and response surface methodology. The good analytical performance of magnetic solid phase extraction/gas chromatography‒mass spectrometry using the proposed adsorbent shows a wide linear range of 0.07-500 ng g-1 with R2 greater than 0.992. Low detection limits and quantitation limits were observed in the ranges of 0.01-2.00 ng g-1 and 0.07-2.50 ng g-1, respectively. The precisions shown in terms of relative standard deviations were lower than 7.0% for intraday (n=5) and 8.6% for interday (n=5 × 3) experiments. The proposed method was applied for preconcentration and determination of dichlorodiphenyl trichloroethane and its degradation products in fruit and vegetable samples. The satisfactory recoveries of the real samples at three spiked concentrations were obtained in the range of 79.1%-110.9% with RSDs lower than 7.5%. The findings highlight the importance of developing efficient sorbents for the enrichment of persistent organic pollutants in food matrices.

Abstract
Methcathinone, a new psychoactive substance (NPS), poses a serious threat to public health. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a reliable, selective, sensitive and simple analytical technique for monitoring trace amounts of this target NPS in complex matrices. For this purpose, magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs) based on MIPs combined with nano-sized magnetic Fe3O4 were developed for the specific enrichment of methcathinone in wastewater. The binding properties and selectivity of MMIPs toward methcathinone were evaluated and compared with non-imprinted polymer (MNIPs). For sensitive and selective extraction and determination of the target methcathinone, magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) based on MMIPs was combined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Under optimized conditions, the proposed method was successfully used for the detection of methcathinone in wastewater, which provided a low limit of detection of 0.3 ng L-1 and a limit of quantification of 1.0 ng L-1 with relative standard deviations of less than 6.89% for intra- and inter-day analyses. Good linearity in the range of 1-2000 ng L-1 with a coefficient of determination (R2) greater than 0.98 was observed. Moreover, a certified reference material of water sample was successfully analyzed with satisfactory results and the recoveries of spike experiments ranged from 96.35-116.7%.

Abstract
Among various chemiluminescence (CL) systems, luminol-H2O2 system is used extensively due to its cheapness and sensitivity. Herein, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde, known as vanillin, was firstly found to be able to catalyze H2O2 very efficiently to produce •OH and O2•-, which can be used to enhance the CL of luminol-H2O2 as Co+. In alkaline aqueous solution, vanillin catalyzed the dissociation of H2O2 into active •OH and O2•- radicals and accelerated luminol-H2O2 reaction to emit strong CL signal. Combining the stabilizing function of β-CD, CL intensity of luminol-H2O2 was enhanced further. Thus, dual-signal amplification of luminol-H2O2 chemiluminescence based on the catalyzing function of vanillin and the stabilizing function of β-CD was proposed and its mechanism was explored deeply in the manuscript. Interestingly, vanillin is a highly prized flavor compound broadly used as food additive, however, the excessive intake of vanillin is harmful to human and thus the determination of vanillin is very important. On the basis of the luminol-β-CD-H2O2/vanillin reaction, a low-cost, rapid and simple CL sensor has been established to detect vanillin. The sensor was able to detect vanillin in the range of 1.0 μM ∼ 75 μM with a detection limit of 0.89 μM (S/N = 3). It can also be used for CL imaging detection with satisfactory results.

Rapid detection of genistein in soya products has remained difficult. Current methods necessitate sample handling and use of costly instruments. Here, using a simple one-pot reverse microemulsion method, a sensor based on N-doped carbon dots conjugated molecularly imprinted polymers (N-CDs@MIPs) was synthesized to analyze genistein. N-doped carbon dots were used as fluorescent component, genistein as the template molecule, and molecularly imprinted polymers as the selective sorbent in this fluorescence sensor. The sensor was then examined and optical studies demonstrated that N-CDs@MIPs not only had strong fluorescence emission and outstanding optical stability, but also had good sensitivity (detection limit 35.7 nM) and selectivity to genistein. Furthermore, the N-CDs@MIPs materials were used to analyze genistein in soya products, and the findings (which ranged from 99.77% to 106.11%) show that the N-CDs@MIPs has high potential for quickly detecting the amount of genistein in complicated food samples.

Abstract
An innovative core-shell magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers, Fe3O4@SiO2@MIPs, was elaborately tailored for specific separation and enrichment of olaquindox (OLA) and its metabolic marker methyl-3-quinoxaline-2carboxylic acid (MQCA). Herein, benefiting from the combination of functionalized magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@SiO2) and MIPs, Fe3O4@SiO2@MIPs not only possessed favorable magnetic properties and stability, avoiding tedious sample pretreatment process, but also demonstrated exceptional selective recognition ability and adsorption capacity, suppressing influence of coexisting interfering substances. Encouraged by prominent merits, Fe3O4@SiO2@MIPs-based magnetic solid phase extraction with HPLC method was developed, realizing simultaneous measurement of OLA and MQCA. Under optimal conditions, excellent linear ranges of 0-100 μg/L with detection limit of 0.175-0.271 μg/L were obtained. The proposed method was finally utilized for determination of OLA and MQCA in fish muscle and milk samples with satisfactory recoveries (80.56-95.26%) and relative standard deviation below 8.1%, furnishing a reliable and sensitive strategy for enrichment and detection residual veterinary drugs in food samples.

Abstract
Cannabidiol (CBD) has attracted immense attention due to its excellent clinical effects in the treatment of various diseases. However, rapid and accurate extraction of CBD from hemp plant concentrates remains a challenge. Thus, novel magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (CBD-MMIPs) with specific recognizing capability for CBD were synthesized using ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the cross-linker, CBD as the template, methacrylic acid as the functional monomer, azobisisobutyronitrile as the initiator, and Fe3O4 nanoparticles modified with SiO2 as the magnetic carrier. The morphological, magnetic, and adsorption properties of obtained CBD-MMIPs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry, surface area and porosity analyses, and various adsorption experiments. The results showed that the CBD-MMIPs had selective specificity and high adsorption capacity for CBD. The adsorption of CBD by CBD-MMIPs could reach equilibrium in a short time (30 min), and the maximum adsorption capacity was as high as 26.51 mg/g. The specific recognition and selectivity properties of CBD-MMIPs to CBD were significantly higher than that of other structural analogues, and the regeneration tests established that the CBD-MMIPs had good recyclability. Furthermore, the CBD-MMIPs could be successfully used as an adsorbent to the extraction of CBD from hemp leaf sample concentrates with high recovery efficiencies (93.46-97.40%).

Abstract
Magnetic porous cellulose molecularly imprinted polymers-based bisphenols have been developed using Fe3O4 as the magnetic material, a deep eutectic solvent as the assisted solvent, and N-isopropylacrylamide as the functional monomer. The resulting magnetic porous cellulose molecularly imprinted polymers were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometry, thermal gravimetric analysis, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis. Moreover, the adsorption properties of the magnetic porous cellulose molecularly imprinted polymers toward bisphenol A, bisphenol F, and bisphenol AF were investigated using static, dynamic, and selective adsorption experiments. The introduction of porous cellulose materials significantly improves the capabilities of the material. The adsorption capacity, mass transfer efficiency, and selectivity of the magnetic porous cellulose molecularly imprinted polymers toward bisphenol A were 5.9, 4.0, and 4.4 times those of traditional molecularly imprinted polymers. Moreover, the adsorption stability of the magnetic porous cellulose molecularly imprinted polymers was investigated under different temperature and pH conditions. The adsorption characteristics of the magnetic porous cellulose molecularly imprinted polymers toward the target molecules were investigated using adsorption isotherm, kinetic, and thermodynamic models. Hydrogen bonding is the main interaction formed between the magnetic porous cellulose molecularly imprinted polymers and the target molecules. Magnetic porous cellulose molecularly imprinted polymers have great application value with excellent stability and reusability. Finally, the combination of the magnetic porous cellulose molecularly imprinted polymers and high-performance liquid chromatography or ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was successfully used for the purification and detection of bisphenols in milk (1.349 ng/mL bisphenol F and 3.014 ng/mL bisphenol AF), canned fruits (1129 ng/mL bisphenol A, 10.11 ng/mL bisphenol F, and 91.87 ng/mL bisphenol AF), and fish (11.91 ng/mL bisphenol AF) samples. Furthermore, the magnetic porous cellulose molecularly imprinted polymer method is more selective, sensitive, and accurate than the traditional precipitation method.

Abstract
4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde (vanillin) is a biophenol compound that is relatively abundant in the world’s most popular flavoring ingredient, natural vanilla. As a powerful antioxidant chemical with beneficial antimicrobial properties, vanillin is not only used as a flavoring agent in food, beverages, perfumery, and pharmaceutical products, it may also be employed as a food-preserving agent, and to fight against yeast and molds. The widespread use of vanilla in major industries warrants the need to develop simple and cost-effective strategies for the quantitative determination of its major component, vanillin. Herein, we explore the applications of a selective and sensitive electrochemical sensor (Au electrodeposited on a fluorine-doped reduced-graphene-oxide-modified glassy-carbon electrode (Au/F-rGO/GCE)) for the detection of vanillin. The electrochemical performance and analytical capabilities of this novel electrochemical sensor were investigated using electrochemical techniques including cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. The excellent sensitivity, selectivity, and reproducibility of the proposed electrochemical sensor may be attributed to the high conductivity and surface area of the formed nanocomposite. The high performance of the sensor developed in the present study was further demonstrated with real-sample analysis.

Abstract
Sensitive, rapid, and low-cost detection of drug traces in sewage is very important for drug monitoring and control. In this study, a dual functional and recyclable magnetic fluorescent molecularly imprinted polymers (MFMIPs) sensor with high sensitivity for rapid detection and purification of methcathinone in sewage was developed. MFMIPs was prepared via molecular imprinting and conjugation with carbon dots as a fluorescent reporter on Fe3O4 (Fe3O4-MIPs@CDs). With strong recognition and adsorption toward methcathinone by the specific cavities on the surface of MFMIPs, the fluorescence of the sensor could dramatically be quenched once anchored with methcathinone. Under optimal conditions, the MFMIPs sensor presented high sensitivity with a linear range of 0.5-100 nM and a detection limit of 0.2 nM, which would be used to monitor drug prevalence and consumption within a certain region. This sensor was applied to the assay of methcathinone in sewage samples collected from Yuebeiyuan, Yanghu, and Xujiahu sewage pumping stations of Yuelu District. The calculated concentrations of methcathinone were 4.80, 15.33, and 8.59 nM in sewage samples, which were in good agreement with data tested by LC-MS/MS. For another function, MFMIPs exhibited purification toward methcathinone and the adsorption capacity was about 0.27 mg/g in a real sewage sample. Moreover, the sensor could be recycled and reused at least five times with the aid of an external magnetic field. Collectively, with good analytical performance and excellent recognition and selectivity to methcathinone, the proposed sensing system based on the magnetic core and molecularly imprinted polymers would open a door to establish highly sensitive and effective sensing systems for sewage analysis and purification.
